This fire emblem heroes wiki has been deprecated. Reason: "This tier list has been retired. Thank you for your understanding."

This fire emblem heroes wiki is no longer supported, and exists solely to maintain integrity of previous page revisions that used this fire emblem heroes wiki. New content should not use this fire emblem heroes wiki anymore, as it might be moved, deleted, or broken without prior notice.

  • This tier list factors in full Skill Inheritance when rating heroes, and is targeted at arena play.
    • Units are rated based on their full potential and with optimal IVs.
    • Each color is evaluated on its own. A 9.5 rating in Red is not the same as 9.5 in Green. Healers are evaluated separately from all other weapon types.
    • Order within a tier is completely cosmetic and does not indicate whether one unit is better than another within the same tier
  • More detailed explanations for individual units can be found below the chart.

Rating Criteria

Ratings in this tier list factor in Skill Inheritance. Units are rated by their stats (including Assets/Flaws), skill potential, flexibility, and important match-ups. As with all tier lists, ratings can be subjective and should only serve as a general guideline.

Simulation Criteria

Units are simulated against a curated list of enemies that appear consistently at the 714-724 score range. This list is publicly available within the Mass Duel Simulator.

A bonus score of +30 is assumed to indicate a player base that comfortably stays in T19.5 while actually building units for combat rather than simply cheesing the arena system for maximum points.

  • Player units are at +5
Even with builds that may not score as high, any team with three +5 units and an Askr bonus will be able to stay within or above the 19.5 range
  • Enemy merges are at +10
As the score necessary to stay in T20 increases, so do enemy merges
In addition, most people tend to have team compositions that carry a couple +10 units, and then a couple extremely low merge units
This also emphasizes the stress test aspect of simulation.
  • Player units are at +5 merge while enemy units are at +10. Unit's with limited merges will be capped at their maximum available merges.
  • The player unit is allowed 2x +6 buffs in two stats of choice.
With the advent of Tactics, Waves, and now Rally+, easy ways to get +6 buffs to your are more and more plentiful, and thus is easier to incorporate into a team.
In addition, due to the abundance of Drive skills to pick from, having a bare minimum of 6/6 buffs should be easy for any team.
  • All enemy units gain +6/6/3/3 in buffs.
This is to simulate a worst case offensive scenario (a Hone Emblem buff) and the ubiquity of Dual Rally skills such as Rally Def/Res.
Similar to player buffs, this also helps simulate potential defensive passive buffs that may affect the enemy.
  • Units are rated on their individual merits alone with limited buffs to simulate reasonable team composition. Some exceptions are made if buffs are integrated into refined PRF weapons.
  • Units are not rated on their ability to utilize compositional synergy skills such as, but not limited to, Infantry Rush/Pulse, Tactics or Emblem skills beyond the buff levels already included.
  • Unit availability and investment costs of builds are not considered in order to ascertain a unit's full potential.

Other Factors:

  • +/neutral/- sub-tiers are listed to provide further fidelity within tiers.
  • Units are listed within tiers in no particular order.
  • All units within a sub-tier bracket are on par with each other.
Tier Definitions

S (9.0 - 10.0)

These heroes are the best answers to the common threats in the arena.
Units in this tier are highly effective on offense teams, consistently beating units all required favourable (WTA) matchups (MUs) as well as the majority of neutral MUs in both phases.
Alternatively, they can provide considerable support to allies (Dancers etc), while retaining their ability to counter all their required WTA matchups and more.

A (7.5 - 8.5)

These units are highly effective, but either have flaws that hold them back or simply do not reach the heights of S tier.
Combat units can still adequately counter most, if not all, meta WTA MUs within the meta but simply lack the breadth of coverage that the S tier units provide.
Alternatively, a unit is heavily reliant on a single combat phase to do most of their MUs and thus lack to overwhelming firepower of S tier units.

B (6.0 - 7.0)

These units are still effective but require heavy support to provide the degree of coverage of the units above.
These units generally suffer losses against some critical meta MUs within WTA and Neutral MUs under simulation conditions, but are still generally serviceable with adequate team coverage.

C (5.5)

These units are heavily outclassed by practically all units in it's weapon class.
Suffers serious losses against even common enemies in WTA with huge losses in neutrals.

Detailed Ratings

New Heroes
Name Icon Rating Notes
Laevatein: Searing Steel
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLaevatein Searing Steel Face FC
S-
  • The princess with the same name as her weapon (or the other way around) arrives with outstanding strength and great physical bulk to spar with.
  • Laevatein is both unique and familiar at the same time. Like any bladetome, it adds bonus damage the more buffs there are on her, which can result in a massive attack stat in combat. The difference is that Laevatein is so far the only melee unit to have this effect.
  • Distant Counter is great for giving her mixed phase combat, allowing her to basically oneshot most archers or mages that attack her. She can also choose to run Death Blow 4 to maximize her attack on player phase, or Swift Sparrow 2 to squeeze in some more Speed to ensure doubles. Moonbow is great at cutting through many tanky enemies as well.
  • She has a few options for B skills. Chill Def 3 can improve her chances of outright OHKOing something, while Chill Spd 3 can make it easier for her to double. For those wanting the convenience of easy buffs, she can retain Atk/Def Link 3 to help her reach her maximum potential easier at the cost of losing some crucial debuffs.
  • Although she can attain incredible damage potential, she is not without her downsides. Her Speed is below average and her Resistance is terrible, which makes her player phase offense shaky with some tanky enemies if she cannot oneshot them.
Laegjarn: Sheathed Steel
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLaegjarn Sheathed Steel Face FC
S-
  • The eldest of the two Muspell princesses, Laegjarn brings exceptional offensive stats and a truly unique weapon to the table.
  • Níu not only gives a passive Spd+3, but it also converts half of the total of the enemy's buffs as additional in-combat buffs to each stat, making it possible to have up to +12 in each stat in combat.
  • Laegjarn's high base Speed will give her no trouble in doubling many foes in the meta, and her high Defense lets her duel well against many other melee threats.
  • Like most red swords, Distant Counter is almost necessary to ensure she has combat in both phases, while Chill Spd 3 can aid with helping her survive mixed phase.
  • Despite the uniqueness of her weapon, Laegjarn's Attack is middling and her Resistance is bottom tier. Additionally, because of the way her weapon works, it actually might be disadvantageous to attack when the enemy has no buffs active, so she has to strike carefully.
Helbindi: Savage Scourge
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveHelbindi Savage Scourge Face FC
B+
  • The rough and vulgar general of Muspell comes in with solid 35 Attack and surprisingly well rounded bulk, with 44 HP and 33/31 defenses.
  • Býleistr's effect is entirely supportive, granting +4 in all stats to him and any adjacent ally on odd numbered turns. Though it is less than a Tactics buff, it can be used alongside those to help free up skill slots on team members. However, Helbindi prefers a refined Slaying Hammer+ for actual combat purposes.
  • He runs enemy phase builds well, with his choice of Steady Breath/Warding Breath to increase his already impressive defenses and give him cooldown acceleration or Distant Counter to bait out archers and mages. Wrath 3 is helpful for increasing the power of his specials, while Quick Riposte 3 helps him in securing kills.
  • Unfortunately, Helbindi's Speed ranks among the worst in the game, meaning he has no player phase potential and most units in the game will double him on enemy phase, which undermines his bulk.

Tiki: Legendary Dragon
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveTiki Legendary Dragon Face FC
'
  • Not to be outdone by her (new) old nemesis, Legendary Tiki arrives as a Blue dragon armor, sporting an impressive 34/35 offensive statline and equally impressive 37/29 defenses.
  • Her weapon -- Divine Mist -- not only has innate Distant Counter, but grants her effective damage against other dragon units and has no cooldown penalty. In a meta that has many powerful dragon units in various roles, this is a godsend.
  • Thanks to her statline, she has a wide range of skills she can pick from. Fierce Breath and Fury 3 are great as budget options, although she may want to opt for Steady Breath or Warding Breath instead. Though she comes with Bold Fighter 3, Tiki is fast enough to use Special Fighter 3 to devastating effect. The Quick Riposte 3 seal is required for her Special Fighter 3 set to break Wary Fighter armors, however.
  • What really sets her apart is her exclusive C skill, With Everyone!. So long as she is next to any ally, she and that ally will get +5 Def/Res until the next turn. Though less potent than Tactics or Fortify Armor, it is also unconditional and works on any team makeup.
  • Resistance is her weakest stat, and even that is bolstered by her C skill. She is a strong, tough unit that is difficult to take down without using effective weaponry.
Myrrh: Spooky Monster
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveMyrrh Spooky Monster Face FC
S+
  • With 38 Attack and 40/32 defenses, Myrrh's costume change turns her into the meta's premier Red dragon.
  • Spirit Breath not only gives her an additional Def+3, but it allows her to double on player phase if her Defense is five points greater than the enemy's. This is crucial, as she sits at a paltry 23 Speed.
  • Like all dragons that don't have it built in, Distant Counter is mandatory to have a constant enemy phase presence. Unlike other armors, Myrrh runs Special Fighter 3 thanks to her weapon's effect, granting her accelerated cooldown and depriving the enemy of their own. The Quick Riposte 3 seal is mandatory for this set.
  • If the Quick Riposte 3 seal is already in use, or if you want to use any other seal on her, Vengeful Fighter 3 works as a good substitute. Keep in mind that she won't get cooldown acceleration on player phase however, so switching to a 3 CD special will be required in this case.
  • Though her kit has many positives, her only downside is that she cannot guarantee that she'll always have five more Defense than the enemy, at which point her combat takes a slight hit. Otherwise, she has no real flaws to speak of.
Niles: Forbidden Tease
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveNiles Forbidden Tease Face FC
S-
  • Niles must have realized he had been keeping players waiting for too long, because he puts on a suit of not-armor and ends up with a much better offensive statline of 34/39, making him the fastest archer in the game.
  • He works best with a refined Slaying Bow+ and Special Fighter 3 due to having such a high Speed stat. Not only does it give him the means to secure kills on otherwise sturdy units, but it also allows him to run Close Counter and protects him from enemy special activations. He will need the Quick Riposte 3 seal for the absolute fastest threats and Wary Fighter users, however.
  • A Brave Bow+ build with Bold Fighter 3, Death Blow 4, and Glimmer works too, giving him an incredible player phase offense at the cost of making his enemy phase presence nonexistent.
  • While his offenses are high, his bulk is comparatively lower with only 37 HP and 25/29 defenses. Though he is usually never at risk of being doubled naturally, he struggles to take out strong, bulky enemies on either phase and can even be OHKOed on the counter.

Mia: Moonlit Witch
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveMia Moonlit Witch Face FC
S+
  • Mia's new alt breaks new ground in being the first flying healer added to the game, coming in with a respectable 30/34 offensive statline.
  • She comes equipped with the Witchy Wand+, a unique staff that not only resets the cooldown of the enemy she's attacking, but inflicts a "Guard" status on the very same enemy and any of their allies within two spaces. While useful, her flight abilities would rather prefer Gravity+ to easily cripple an enemy team.
  • While she doesn't have much in the way of A skills, she can utilize Attack+3 or even Atk/Spd Bond 3 to be able to mount a good offense. Physic+ is a good healing assist to use on her thanks to her flight, and she's a perfect user of Guidance 3 to help shuttle her team around.
  • Her durability is basically nonexistent, but her advantage of being able to fly over terrain and attack without consequence propels her to the highest rank of all the healers.

Kagero: Beverage Ninja

S-
  • Having been entrusted with a top secret mission, Kagero must don the shameful attire of a Nohrian maid to fulfill her duty. Can her stunning 38 Attack and 32/33 defenses show her a path to success?
  • Unlike most other dagger units, a case can be made for Kagero taking either the Cloud Maiougi to go against dragons, or the Sky Maiougi to go against armors. With access to Bold Fighter, Kagero’s need for Speed is eliminated, and her player phase is very strong even with Close Counter taking her A slot. Her above average Res can be further augmented with a weapon refinement to ensure that she ploys nearly every enemy she comes across.
  • Her potential for mixed-phase combat can be forsaken in favor of a pure Player Phase build with Death Blow 4, which operates very similarly to Jakob: Devoted Monster.
  • Because she lugs around a heavy bucket full of drinks, she's quite slow with 21 Spd at base, making her susceptible to being doubled by many foes.

Dorcas: Pumpkin Smasher

  • Dorcas returns from his previous outing with an absolutely eye-popping 41 Attack and excellent physical bulk.
  • He is best used for player phase combat to make the most out of his massive attack stat. A refined Slaying Hammer+ is the perfect tool to destroy nearly every armor unit in the game, pairing well with Death Blow 4 and Bold Fighter 3.
  • He also runs a standard Distant Counter/Vengeful Fighter 3 build fairly well.
  • 25 Speed and 21 Resistance hurts his enemy phase pretty badly. Being a TT unit also deprives him of useful IVs and merges, which hurts his long-term viability.

Loki: The Trickster
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLoki The Trickster Face FC

  • Sauntering into the game with all her gravitas is Loki, who boasts a solid 32/35 offensive statline and a weapon with a nice effect.
  • Thokk's ability allows Loki to ploy any ranged unit that's in one of her cardinal directions with a Gravity effect, so long as she has 3 more HP than them. Because she doesn't have to enter combat to cripple them this way, she helps the team just by being around.
  • With her offense oriented statline, she runs skills like Atk/Spd Solo or Atk/Spd Bond well enough.
  • Mediocre defenses prevent her from being a real frontline fighter or being able to use various other stat-Ploy abilities, and being an infantry unit hurts her ability to apply various status effects due to her movement.

Kliff: Curious Spirit
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveKliff Curious Spirit Face FC
A+
  • The last of the Ram Village units, Kliff finally makes his debut with a unique tome and just as unique statline.
  • Sagittae grants him +5 in all stats in battle if his displayed Attack is at least 5 points less than his foe's. This creates awkward situations where he might need to forgo Attack buffs of any kind to fulfill its requirement, but when it does get activated, his abilities take quite a leap. Unfortunately, due to its strict conditions and his below average attack, he prefers to dump his prf entirely and use a standard Blarblade+ instead.
  • Kliff's defensive statline is very much like Odin's, with more Defense and Resistance but less HP. This is more than enough to make a viable Close Counter build with him for mixed phase combat, especially with a blazing 37 Speed.
  • Just like Odin, he has to be wary of Panic status or else his damage output falls to zero.

Owain: Chosen One
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveOwain Chosen One Face FC
A+
  • At last, the Chosen Hero arrives! He sallies forth sporting a statline almost identical to Ayra's, trading -1 Atk for +1 Res.
  • Missiletain (Sword) is unique in that he gains an additional special charge whenever he's hit on either phase, allowing him to quickly charge specials. His special Blue Flame boosts his damage by 10 when it activates, or by 25 when next to an ally. While useful on enemy phase builds, if you want to have him be more proactive on player phase, Luna is a better fit.
  • His best build is almost a mirror of Ayra's; Distant Counter, Wrath 3 (which he comes with), and whatever C skill one wants. Attack+3 or the Quick Riposte 3 seal are used to help secure kills on either phase.
  • Owain's player phase is shaky at times and lacks the thing that makes Ayra good (Regnal Astra), but he's otherwise a fairly decent mixed phase duelist with respectable durability.

Aversa: Dark One
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveAversa Dark One Face FC
A
  • Aversa comes in as a GHB unit, and with flight and 33/34 offenses, she's definitely one of the best of them.
  • Her personal tome, Aversa's Night, has an interesting support effect. So long as an enemy unit has 3 less HP than her and is standing next to one of their allies, they get hit with all stats -3 and Panic status until the end of their turn. Boosting Aversa's HP higher via skills will increase the amount of units she can hit with it.
  • If one wants to use her offensively, a Raudrblade build leverages her attack and speed well. As a flying unit, she has access to its many supportive abilities, and as such she can use Guidance or Flying Formation to great effect.
  • Surprisingly, she can also run a defensive Raudrowl+ set with a Def refine very well thanks to her high HP. She makes good use of the Darting Stance 3 seal and Quick Riposte 3 to avoid getting doubled entirely.
  • Because she's a GHB unit, she also has no IVs and has limited merges, so her long-term potential isn't as good.
Eirika: Graceful Resolve
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveEirika Graceful Resolve Face FC
A
  • The third Water-elemental Legendary to be introduced, Eirika has 31/39 offenses and two unique tools to set her apart from the other sword users.
  • The Storm Sieglinde grants her Attack+3 and gives her an additional Def/Res+3 and accelerated cooldown per attack in battle so long as the number of allies within 2 spaces of her are less or equal to the amount of enemies. Like her brother Ephraim, this encourages a bold charge in player phase to work.
  • Her exclusive skill is the Lunar Brace. It slows her Special's cooldown by 1, but in exchange it lets her do half of the enemy's Defense as flat damage whenever her special activates in combat. This allows her to cut through many enemies she would otherwise have difficulties dealing with on player phase.
  • She has many options at her disposal, depending on how you want to build her. Her innate Atk/Spd Solo 3 increases her already great offenses even more, or Death Blow 4 to secure kills against the most bulky of enemies. She also performs very well with Distant Counter to deal with ranged threats.
  • Eirika's abilities are powerful, but she relies heavily on Lunar Brace to kill and thus running into enemies with Guard 3 or effects similiar to it really hurt her offense. Additionally, Storm Sieglinde helps patch her defenses but doesn't totally fix them; she has trouble surviving consecutive battles due to low overall bulk.

  • He can run a Brave Lance or Slaying Lance, with the former relying on skills like Death Blow and Hit and Run for maximum burst damage and the safety, while the latter making use out of Fury and Swordbreaker in order to facilitate a mixed phase build.
  • He doesn't really stand out as a unit and is generally outclassed by Oscar.

Alfonse: Prince of Askr
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveAlfonse Prince of Askr Face FC
B
  • Alfonse has struggled to compete with the slew of bulky infantry sword units who since been introduced. Still, he is still capable of somewhat keeping up as a unit due to skill inheritance, which is commendable.
  • Fólkvangr's refine now grants him Brazen Atk/Def 3 as its regular effect and can be further refined for an additional +4 Defense. Alfonse is now capable of stacking several Brazen skills simultaneously to skyrocket his Attack and other stats of his choice, but at the cost of making his first round combat mediocre.
  • He still works best with a Def refined Armorsmasher+ for an enemy phase build, as his 25 Speed hampers whatever player phase offense he might have.
  • He is outshined by bulky Sword units that have comparable Attack and Defense, but far greater Speed.

  • His Resistance is pretty dismal.

Alm: Hero of Prophecy
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveAlm Hero of Prophecy Face FC

  • Originally an underwhelming Falchion wielder with aggressively mediocre stats, the 2.2 refinery update changed everything for Alm.
  • His new refinery ability (Double Lion) gives him a brave effect, which when backed by the raw power of the Falchion, gives him devastating offense. To put it another way, Alm is capable of a ORKOing a significant portion of the metagame.
  • Alm doesn't want for much as far as inheritance goes; simply inheriting Death Blow and giving him Attack +3 or Heavy Blade will considerably strengthen his damage output. He can make use out of various skills for his B-slot,
  • Alm can now power through all dragons (including Nowi and Corrin) a feat that cannot be matched by any other unit in the game, making him a premier dragon killer.
  • His Falchion refine makes it difficult to defeat him on enemy phase, so opting to take him on player phase is the ideal way to beat him. He's far less threatening after taking damage as well.

  • While Amelia has a lot of things going for her, her low Resistance is a notable weak point .

Anna: Commander
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveAnna Commander Face FC

  • The strengthening of the meta has been hard on Anna, as her lackluster Attack and lack of boons makes it difficult for her to stand out as a unit. Fortunately, she still has her exceptional Speed to fall back on.
  • She prefers a Speed refined Slaying Hammer+ to be able to act as a check on the many powerful armors in the meta, along with being able to kill Nowi.
  • Her poor physical Defense and mediocre Attack are her biggest shortcomings. She unfortunately also doesn't gain anything with Nóatún's refine options.

Arden: Strong and Tough
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveArden Strong and Tough Face FC
A
  • With a whopping 60 HP, 41 Defense and 36 Attack, Arden is more than just Strong and Tough; he's scary.
  • A highly optimized statline isn't the only thing he has going for him either as his signature Follow Up ring guarantees a double attack in battle, making him a threat on both Player and Enemy phases.
  • While Arden can do considerable damage with his default kit, Distant Counter, Slaying Edge and Quicken Pulse turn him into a terrifying threat, as a single hit from an opponent will instantly activate Bonfire and deal considerable damage in return.
  • While Arden is a physical powerhouse, he predictable suffers in the Speed department. It's low enough to the point where virtually any unit can double him, and units that can survive a hit from him will typically beat him.

Ares: Black Knight
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveAres Black Knight Face FC
A-
  • Ares closely follows in the footsteps of his father and other tanky red cavalry units by possessing high Attack, good physical defense and mediocre Speed. Statistically, he doesn't really bring anything new to the table, but fortunately he's got more going for him.
  • Dark Mystletainn for example, is very powerful. With a built in cooldown reduction for specials AND a -2 cooldown after combat, Ares can be set up to endlessly fire off specials, one after another.
  • Set wise, Ares benefits from an enemy phase oriented build, using skills like Quick Riposte and Distant Counter to consistently take out speedier units or ones with range. The combination of Distant Counter, Quicken Pulse and Vantage give him a particularly nasty enemy phase once he gets going.
  • His mediocre Speed and poor Res make him relatively easy for faster blue units to deal with. In other words, killing him in one round prevents him from making the most out of his skillset.

Arthur: Hapless Hero

Arvis: Emperor of Flame

  • Arvis is an interesting mage unit; statistically, his offensive stats are average at best, and his defense is poor. He makes up for it with a great Resistance stat, which synergizes well with his legendary tome.
  • Valflame gives him built in Attack / Resistance ploy, potentially giving his attacks a bit more of a oomph against most targets, in addition to providing ranged Attack debuff utility.
  • That said, Arvis is pretty inflexible as a unit, since he risks being outclassed by other mages if he uses anything other than Valflame. As a result, he works best with Fury in order to give him a much needed boost to his statline, and Green Tomebreaker, which lets him hard counter faster green mage units. His signature skill, Recovery Ring, is nice for mitigating Fury recoil as well.
  • His dismal defense is his biggest shortcoming and he's generally outmatched by faster, more specialized Red mages.

  • Urðr's gives her a noticeably stronger offense in comparison to other dancer units, and its secondary ability gives sing recipients a nifty boost to all their stats. That said, Urðr's method of applying buffs makes it less reliable as a buffing tool, as units prefer receiving buffs at the start of the turn in order to maximize the amount of damage they can deal with sing support.
  • Azura can also opt for a more specialized build utilizing Emerald Axe+, Distant Counter and Green Tomebreaker to check various metagame threats.

  • His signature Black Luna is arguably the strongest special in the game currently; reducing a target's defense by 80% on a 3 charge cooldown is nothing short of ridiculous, and it lets him dominate in many 1v1 matchups.
  • Enemy phase variants work best with Steady Breath and the Quickened Pulse seal, since it allows him to make the most out of Black Luna, guaranteeing its activation on the first round of combat and almost always OHKOing its target. Player phase variants can make use out of Bold Fighter to outright steamroll most units.

  • She has a couple of build options, such as running Fury with Desperation, with the former naturally activating the latter after a single round of combat. Alternatively, putting in another Brazen skill -- preferably another Brazen Atk/Spd -- further increases her offenses but makes her first combat round not so great in comparison.

  • Celica can make use out of Firesweep builds for a guaranteed x4 hit without fear of retaliation (provided she can double). Alternatively, Armorsmasher lets her punch through all armors, even Blue ones, provided she has sufficient buffs. Royal Sword has its uses as well, as it obviously pairs well with Galeforce. You can easily pass it up if you equip Celica with either Flashing Blade or Heavy Blade seals, however.
  • Regardless of what set you run, Death Blow is unquestionably Celica's best A-slot option considering it synergizes extremely well with Double Lion. Celica pairs off well with dancers and healer support, giving her more opportunities to act and activate Double Lion respectively.
  • Celica is a player phase monster, but she's comparatively less useful than other infantry staples like Ayra and Karla on enemy phase. She's also reliant on outside sources if she wants to refresh her Double Lion. Neither of these are major flaws, but they're something to keep in mind.

  • Cherche has exceptional base Attack and Defense, making her one of the hardest hitting tanks in the game.
  • Her new weapon, Cherche's Axe, improves upon her previous Brave Axe+ build significantly. Coupled with Death Blow 4, it allows her to break through walls that her previous builds couldn't before. Chill Def 3 as her B slot aids her in helping to soften up bulky tanks for her to burst down.
  • Panic Ploy 3 is her weapon's special skill, which complements Cherche's high HP and flying mobility perfectly. Flying mobility also grants her safety through the use of Hit and Run / Drag Back if one is inclined to prioritize her safety over combat effectiveness.
  • She's slow, and her terrible Resistance makes her bait for mages (even blue ones).

  • A tank in literally every sense of the word, Chrom's superb defensive statline make him difficult to take down, and his top class Attack stat ensure that his strikes leave a world of hurt.
  • Chrom works fairly well with his default kit, but it's when skills like Death Blow and Bold Fighter are added to the mix that his true potential appears. It is extremely difficult for most foes to survive a round against him. To put it another way, Chrom even comes out on top against a fair amount of red units!
  • Vengeful Fighter makes him a fearsome enemy phase unit, and Wary Fighter can make him annoying to deal for foes, making him a good pick for a Defense team.
  • His Speed is a weakpoint, but it's almost completely mitigated by Bold and Vengeful Fighter. Beating Chrom depends entirely on his moveset. Ranged units have an fairly easy time with him.

Chrom: Knight Exalt
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveChrom Knight Exalt Face FC
A+
  • Paladin Chrom is a mobile tank, with incredible Attack, great Defense and mounted mobility to give him a bit of flexibility when engaging enemies.
  • Sealed Falchion offers dragon slaying utility and a hefty statline boost after activation. Unfortunately, the statline boost its a bit slow to be of consistent use in matches as it typically won't active in Chrom's first engagement. Still, it can be put to good use with the proper setup (such as Ardent Sacrifice), and Chrom makes particularly good use out of it when paired with Distant Counter and Quick Riposte.
  • Conversely, he can opt for a Slaying Edge for a consistent statline boost via refinery and a special cooldown, culminating in a stronger presence on both phases.
  • Chrom's poor Resistance makes him extremely vulnerable to mages and dragons, though he can potentially OHKO the latter with the sealed Falchion. His Speed is fairly exploitable as well.

  • A lance flier with great Speed and Resistance, but heavily lacking in Attack and Defense, similar to Caeda.
  • Rhomphaia gives her effective damage against cavalry and armor units, giving her a much needed niche over her fellow blue lance fliers. Additionally, its special skill is Flashing Blade 3, which allows her to quickly charge up an Iceberg or Luna and nuke whatever she is targeting.
  • Defense Ploy lets Clair leverage her high Res to bring down enemy defenses to patch up her low attack. Since she’s a flier, the lesser mobility restrictions make it easier to apply Defense Ploy as well. Coupled with her high Speed, Clair now becomes a respectable offensive threat.
  • Her physical bulk is pretty bad, so her combat against neutral units that she doesn't deal effective damage against is shaky.

  • With her high Speed and Attack, she has the option to use a "Quad" build through Brave Lance+ coupled with Life and Death / Swift Sparrow and Desperation / Hit and Run or even a Firesweep Lance+ build with similar skills.
  • Both builds are hyper offensive, thus not too many risks should be taken with Cordelia on Enemy Phase.
  • Outside of her disappointing art and weaker defensive stats, Cordelia has no real shortcomings.

Cordelia: Perfect Bride

  • High offensive stats in the form of Attack and Speed make Cordelia an offensive juggernaut compared to other infantry archers.
  • Pairs off extremely well with the Brave Bow+ and Death Blow 4 to give her exceptional OHKO potential. Chill Spd 3 is practically required on her to hit many of the faster units in the game.
  • Due to the combination of the highest Attack among archers and high Spd, she is one of the best users of Firesweep Bow+ to hard counter units who rely on counterattacking (eg. Quick Riposte builds, Vantage builds, Distant Counter users, etc)
  • The meta has not been kind to her. Not only have many units become bulkier overall, but dragons and armors will simply tank her attacks and OHKO her on either phase because of her low bulk. Takumi: Prince at Play has also entirely stolen her niche due to being a superior movement type.

Cordelia: Knight Paradise

  • Cordelia makes for a pretty capable cavalry unit, with a great Speed stat and surprisingly solid physical Defense. Her Attack is comparatively less impressive, however.
  • She excels with a Harmonic Lance build, leveraging her Speed stat and specials (such as Moonbow) to get the drop on most units. Alternatively, her default kit is a surprisingly compelling budget choice, as the Shell Lance and Sturdy Blow do a great job of improving both her offense and defensive ability.
  • As far as drawbacks go, Cordelia's reasonably decent-but-not-stellar Attack stat will cause her to struggle in her blue matchups units, especially against dragons like Nowi and Corrin. Her dismal Resistance puts her particularly at risk from taking heavy damage from magical attackers as well.

Corrin: Fateful Princess

  • Set wise, she's surprisingly flexible, making use out of Steady/Warding Breath, Bonfire and Quick Riposte in order to give her an especially strong enemy phase. A combination of the Quick Riposte seal and Guard makes her especially effective against units with strong specials, such as Quicken Pulse units or Zelgius and Ayra.
  • Alternatively, Fury gives her a good mix of player and enemy phase ability while Windsweep essentially gives her a pseudo sweep effect.

  • Her Divine Naga grants her greater usability against buffed units, making her great for taking on bladetome users and mounted mage units. She also makes excellent use out of ploys, for that sweet ranged Speed debuff.
  • Deidre suffers from the typical mage tank weaknesses; her terrible Speed and slightly below average maker her extremely vulnerable to physical units, and she struggles against green dragons despite having effective damage against.

  • She functions well as a blue nuke with Blárblade+ or as a hard-hitting melee buff support with her legendary tome Dark Aura granting Atk+6 to melee allies and +4 to an additional stat with a Hone C-passive.
  • Similar to Linde, she is extremely fragile to physical attackers with a neutral physical bulk of 33 HP and 13 Def. Her Res is above average (31), increasing her already potent ability to duel with other mages, but she struggles mightily against dragon units due to their adaptive damage.

  • Dorcas is a powerhouse axe tank, with excellent HP, Attack and Defense stats in addition to have passable Resistance.
  • His Stout Tomahawk gives him coverage against ranged units and synergizes wonderfully with Steady Breath and Quicken Pulse; ranged units that can't OHKO him will invariably take lethal damage from Bonfire, making Dorcas a tricky unit to play around.
  • He's not too shabby as a front line unit either as physical attackers also risk getting OHKOed by Bonfire.
  • He's considerably easier to deal with on enemy phase, as he's too slow to double and can't immediately make use out of Bonfire if he's attacking you. He's also vulnerable to being OHKOed by powerful red mage units.

Bold Fighter gives her incredibly offensive potential, granting her the ability to power through most units with relative ease.
  • Her weaknesses largely depend on what build she's running. Her poor Speed is exploitable, provided she isn't running Wary Fighter (and even Wary Fighter can be bypassed by Quick Riposte). The mixed tank is best dealt with on enemy phase, and bold fighter builds must be player phased.

Eirika: Restoration Lady

  • With her legendary weapon Sieglinde, she holds a strong niche as a buff bot similar to her brother Ephraim. Her refinery pushes her the next level, essentially doubling the gains she receives from buffs and significantly improving her offensive and defensive capabilities in the process.
  • She works best with a Fury build, which noticeably improves her staying power and gives her a nice boost to her statline. She's well suited to using skills like Distant counter, Swordbreaker and Quick Riposte for general coverage, but she can also use Wrath for even more power. Rally assists and Hones also work well with her, synergizing with Sieglinde's Hone Attack effect.

  • Ephraim's Legendary version gallops right into battle, boasting a strong 36 Attack and equally solid 33 Defense.
  • His unique weapon, Flame Siegmund, stands out for its ability to double on either phase, so long as there are no allies within two spaces of him. This encourages a daring and reckless playstyle with him, and he's a great user of Death Blow 4 and the Heavy Blade 3 seal to proc specials like Luna or even Galeforce in one round of combat.
  • He also has an exclusive skill called Solar Brace, which heals him by 30% of damage inflicted by a Special. While this can help sustain his combat, Guard 3 or Chill Spd 3 might be better fits for him.
  • While his ability to charge in and double practically anything is powerful, it also effectively shunts him into a player phase-only build because of how his weapon works. Furthermore, he is deceptively fragile; 27 Speed is below average and will get him doubled by many units, while his 17 Resistance is bottom-tier in a meta full of dragons.

Close Defense reinforces his defenses, making him even harder for units to break.
  • Alternatively, Distant Counter, Wary Fighter and Quick Riposte can be used alongside each other essentially granting Ephraim an omnibreaker that's effective against all units. His choice of special is pretty much up to you, but it's hard to go wrong with Bonfire.

  • Her offensive stats dull in comparison to other archers above her with much better offensive potential and she suffers from very poor Speed which means she tends to get doubled.

Felicia: Maid Mayhem
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveFelicia Maid Mayhem Face FC
B+
  • Felicia’s best option is an Enemy Phase build due to her absolutely terrible Attack stat.
  • Like most all dagger units, she prefers taking the Cloud Maiougi+ and specializing against dragons specifically in the current Arena climate; while Felicia's Plate is a very strong weapon in and of itself, Felicia herself is unable to make it work to its maximum potential simply because she has such a low attack stat. Coupled with her low physical bulk, it is extremely difficult for her to make her plate work better than the Cloud Maiougi without considerable setup, and even then many Arena threats have very balanced Defense and Resistance stats, preventing it from simply tearing through everything.
  • Her good Resistance stat (35 at base) allows her to ploy most dragons with ease; Attack Ploy increases her survivability and offsets her poor Defense stat, while Defense Ploy increases her KO potential.
  • However, the usefulness of her Resistance lies solely in ploying and increased Iceberg damage; like with Halloween Sakura, having a “dedicated mage killer” is generally not necessary since other units can easily be built to handle mages they have color advantage over, and it otherwise doesn’t help her bulk against dragons since her Defense stat is so low and gets targeted instead by their weapons.
  • Though she operates similarly to Kaze and Halloween Sakura, she can run into issues against particularly high Defense targets due to her abysmal Attack stat, and her Resistance is not significantly higher where she gets ploys that they wouldn’t.
Fir: Sword Student

  • The Nameless Sword is her ace in the hole, giving her a built in cooldown reduction and +10 damage to specials effect, which are two of some of the best effects in the game.
  • This gives her considerably offensive power, as she can trash opponents on both offensive and enemy phase. Wrath outright grants her +20 damage on specials when active, and with Quickened Pulse she can essentially proc a special twice with Moonbow.
  • Her supporting abilities shouldn't be underestimated either, as her Resistance let's her freely run ploys of her choosing.
  • She's incredibly reliant on specials for damage; Guard enemies spell bad news for her, and she can be taken out by strong physical attacks.
Fjorm: Princess of Ice
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveFjorm Princess of Ice Face FC

  • The Princess of Ice is decidedly well-rounded, possessing no stats below 30, but no non-HP stats above 35 either. While seemingly highly versatile due to her stats, Fjorm is a surprisingly inflexible unit.
  • Fortunately, Fjorm can be used to good use in the current metagame. She has an excellent matchup with mage units and can function as a good check to Red units. She also functions as a wonderful supporting unit with her blessings, bestowing HP and Speed buffs to units of your choice during the Water season.
  • While effective against the aforementioned unit types, she has a few key shortcomings. She struggles against Reinhardt without Deflect Magic, and is completely ineffective against Bow Lyn, mitigating her advantage against ranged units. She also struggles to certain kill Red sword units, and can even be outright defeated by some of them. Her blessings are also limited by season, making them inconsistent.
  • Overall, Fjorm is a unit with very clear strengths and weaknesses. With the right team set up, and proper use out of her powerful blessing, she can absolutely thrive in the current metagame, but this success requires careful consideration on the players part.

  • Flora makes great use out of a combination of Death Blow, Defense Ploy, Ignis, and the Heavy Blade seal. This set lets her shred through all units with ranged counterattack (which make up some of the strongest units in the game). Swordbreaker is specifically useful for gaining coverage against red sword units, who tend to be fast and difficult to double.

  • Summer Gaius has serviceable Attack and great Speed, but not much else.
  • He can essentially run the most typical Bow sets (eg. Brave Bow+ with Desperation, due to his naturally high Speed.
  • His defenses both physically and magically are a bit frail due to his lower HP pool, but his workable Resistance and high Speed does allow him to avoid doubles against other high Spd meta mages. Otherwise an unremarkable unit.

Genny: Endearing Ally

  • A healer with exceptionally high base Attack (for a healer) and great Resistance.
  • Can make good use of Wrathful Staff due to her naturally great Attack, and pair it off with a Dazzling Staff refine effect, for good damage and safety.
  • She can use the Gravity Staff for movement control or Pain and secondary damage skills to act as an annoyer.
  • Her mediocre Speed, her both offensively and defensively, as she will rarely get to double enemies, and will almost always die to melee units.

Gerome: Masked Rider

  • Has a stat spread very similar to his mother, Cherche; incredibly strong and incredibly durable on the physical side.
  • Being incredibly similar to Cherche lends himself to similarly doing well with sets she excelled at. Namely, the Brave Axe+ set, in which he's able to target foes and do considerable damage.
  • While he is slightly bulkier than Cherche, his lack of access to a boon/bane makes him markedly weaker. He also shares her weaknesses (low Speed and Resistance)

Gordin: Altean Archer
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveGordin Altean Archer Face FC
B+
  • A physically defensive archer with average Attack, but below average Speed and atrocious Resistance.
  • Gordin works best with his Brave Bow+, and his high defense occasionally makes him a decent shield for physical attackers
  • Unfortunately, Gordin's Speed makes it easy for foes to double him, mitigating his high Defense, and his Resistance makes him an easy target for mage units.
  • Generally outdone by bow users with better Attack and Speed.

Gray: Wry Comrade
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveGray Wry Comrade Face FC
A-
  • Gray fits into the bulky Red Sword hero category, with impressive Attack and serviceable Speed, backed by above average physical defense.
  • Similar to units like Ogma and Chrom, he does great with Slaying Edge and Steady Breath, which gives him great power on enemy phase. His well rounded stats afford him a great deal of flexibility, meaning he can also run several builds (such as a Brave Sword build) depending on your preference
  • His Speed falls short of great and he faces competition from other Red swords with a better stat arrangement. His Resistance is also a weak point.

Gunnthrá: Voice of Dreams
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveGunnthra Voice of Dreams Face FC
B
  • Gunnthra doesn't really impress from a stat perspective, and if that was all there was to her she'd be forever doomed to obscurity.
  • Fortunately her signature ability, Chilling Wind, is an absolute gamechanger. The debuff it provides is absolutely crippling, and Gunnthra doesn't need to be in range to activate it; as long as she's on the field and her HP is above 50%, her target will always suffer from the debuff.
  • Units that tend to be affected by her debuff are offensively oriented, such as Brave Lyn and Life and Death users, making it considerably easier to deal with them.
  • As a unit, Gunnthra is fairly decent; her weapon grants her extreme effectiveness to debuffed's targets, which pairs well with Chilling Wind. On the other hand, running a typical Blade tome will give her consistent damage against most units.

reason5=Her physical Defense is awful, which leaves her vulnerable to counter attacks from blue units she cannot OHKO, such as Nowi and Distant Counter Effie.

Gunter: Inveterate Soldier

  • Hana has a solid offensive stat spread of 35/36 but comparatively weaker defenses, making her the definition of a glass cannon.
  • Offensive builds like Firesweep Sword set with Life and Death, are her bread and butter, leveraging her offensive stats and completely mitigates her terrible durability. She can also make use out of the Brave Sword set for strong burst damage, or rely on a Wo Dao+/Slaying Edge-based builds to raise her statline a bit.
  • She has mediocre bulk in comparison to other similar Red Swords and is slightly outmatched by newer generation sword units, who have comparable offensive stats but have far more durability.

Hawkeye: Desert Guardian
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveHawkeye Desert Guardian Face FC
B+
  • Hawkeye's stat spread, sporting fairly high resistance compared ti his other axe counterparts, has aged well into a metagame full of dragons.
  • He forgoes speed for his other stats, giving him a strong enemy phase set utilizing Distant Counter, Guard, Quick Riposte, and a defense scaling special
  • Hawkeye will inevitably get doubled by the initiatin enemy, but his defenses are strong enough to mostly shrug them off, while protecting himself from enemy specials utilizing Guard
  • While he has extremely strong enemy phase, his only decent attack and low speed confines him to that one phase unless he has a special charged.

Hector: General of Ostia
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveHector General of Ostia Face FC
S+
  • Hector boasts exceptional Attack, Defense and HP, mediocre Spd and very low Res.
  • He has been a dominant force in the metagame since the very beginning, owing much to fantastic coverage in the form of Distant Counter and Armds
  • Hector is extremely flexible as a unit, making use out of skills like Bold Fighter to blow through most units or opting for a lethal enemy phase by using Berserker Armads, Wrath and Quicken Pulse to decimate anything the engages with him.
  • He can even make use out of a special "omnibreaker" set by utilizing Wary Fighter and Quick Riposte, which allows him to nullify doubles, but still double enemies on enemy phase. This set is particularly effective at letting Hector beat enemies outside of his color.
  • Hector's below average Resistance and poor Speed are his only weaknesses, but they're mostly superficial. He is a top class unit in every sense of the word, albeit slightly outclassed by his Valentine's Day counterpart (not that this really matters in practice)
Hector: Just Here to Fight
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveHector Just Here to Fight Face FC

  • Hector is definitely just here to fight, and boy does he bring it. With top class HP, Attack and Defense, Hector is an extremely durable, hard hitting badass of a unit.
  • His weapon manages to match his incredible statline, with a built in cooldown reduction and Wrath Effect. This synergizes extremely well with Wrath itself, giving Hector +20 damage to all specials when Wrath is active, which is just nasty. With Quickened Pulse and Bonfire, Hector can crush nearly any enemy that engages him, potentially even foes who have a Weapon Type Advantage over him.
  • He's not just limited to being a dominant enemy phase tank either; Bold Fighter gives him a terrifying player phase presence as well.
  • As far as weaknesses go, Hector's below average Resistance and poor Speed are it, but these are typically superficial; struggle to engage him, and he has skills to work around his Speed.

Hector: Marquess of Ostia
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveHector Marquess of Ostia Face FC
S+
  • Look upon his might, ye wicked, and despair. Legendary Hector is a monster in every sense of the word, with top class Attack and Defense, decent Resistance, and perfectly optimized Speed stat, he stands at the very top of the Armor unit pecking order.
  • Hector would be amazing if we were just going by his stats alone, but he's been blessed with two very powerful tools. The Thunder Armads effectively prevents enemies from doubling Hector, provided it's (very simple to achieve) conditional requirement is met. It pairs off extremely well with Vengeful Fighter, letting Hector take on all manner of units. With the proper support, he can be built to obliterate Green, Blue, and Red melee units. Hector doesn't discriminate.
  • Ostian Pulse, Hector's 2nd trump card grants his teammates a universal infantry pulse, provided the mixed team requirements are met. This effect is straight up deadly on teams that utilize units with game-changing specials such as Zelgius and Ayra, making Hector an incredible supporting unit as well.
  • Hector's default kit is terrific, but he can still opt the tried and true Bold Fighter + Quick Riposte combo. This weakens his phenomenal enemy phase, but in exchange, gives him a stronger mixed phase presence.
  • As far as downsides go… there's nothing. Just about every stat is perfectly allocated, and his low speed is mitigated by his weapon. In other words, you're looking at the single best unit in the game right now.
Hector: Brave Warrior
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveHector Brave Warrior Face FC
S+
  • Let's not beat around the bush—Hector has never been anything short of phenomenal, and Brave Hector doesn't break the trend. Hector being top tier is about as consistent as death and taxes.
  • Starting from the very top, Maltet is a powerful weapon; cooldown reduction is a coveted skill, but guaranteed Quick Riposte is even more impressive, solidifying Hector's enemy phase. Ostian Counter is a powercrept Distant Counter, with the additional Sturdy Stance effect completely overriding Distant Counter's tradeoff.
  • His B-slot is non-negotiable—Bold Fighter is an established powerhouse skill and Hector is perfectly suited to using it. With it, he has both the Player and Enemy Phase on lock.
  • He can also make use out of the Omnibreaker build, with Quick Riposte and Wary Fighter. It weakens his player phase but gives him a nearly unbreakable enemy phase

Henry: Twisted Mind

A-
  • With the meta, especially for green units, shifting towards higher bulk, Henry is surprisingly one of the mages better equipped to deal with it
  • By running a defensive build with Candelabra+ or Raudrowl+, Close Counter, and Quick Riposte, he is able to tank a lot of targets, regardless of color.
  • Using Guard and Atk Ploy further boosts his defensive potential, denying opponents their special abilities and further lowering their attack. Despite his low Attack, he can then rely on Bonfire to be able to take out units.
  • He's slow, and reliant on specials in order to actually kill enemies.
Henry: Happy Vampire
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveHenry Happy Vampire Face FC

  • As a unit, Happy Vampire Henry is as unusual as it gets. He's an armored mage unit with below average Defense (for an Armored unit) but extremely high Resistance, impressive Speed and decent Attack.
  • Gronnblade+ for nuking ability. His viable skills range from defensive skills such as Quick Riposte and Distant to more offensive skills like Swift Sparrow and Desperation. The choice of skill is entirely dependant on the build.
  • As far as weaknesses go, his sketchy physical defense is the big one. On top of leaving him vulnerable to physical attackers, he struggles to break through Berkut's Lance Effie, Fjorm, and Dragon units.

Hinata: Wild Samurai

  • Hinata is crazy durable, boasting some of the highest physical Defense in the game, and good Attack to along with it.
  • He was born to use Steady Breath, along with Quick Riposte, Bonfire/Ignis and the Slaying Edge for a powerful enemy phase build.
  • While his physical tanking is great, his low Res is a serious weak point, as it leaves him especially vulnerable to dragon units, and his low Speed makes him vulnerable to doubling.

Hinoka: Warrior Princess

A
  • Hinoka is a part of the triumvirate of 35 Attack lance fliers (Alongside Cordelia and Est), and while she might not be as effective as they are, she's still more than capable as a unit.
  • She can run the same Brave Lance+ and Firesweep Lance+ sets as the other 35 Attack Lance Fliers, though not as well.
  • Her signature weapon gives her a bit of uniqueness and is fairly handy; the self Goad gives her a nice boost to her offensive statline, and she gains a nice Guidance effect as well.
  • She's limited by her merely average Speed stat, making her reliant on buffs and spurs to maximize her effectiveness.

Hinoka: Blue Sky Warrior
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveHinoka Blue Sky Warrior Face FC
A
  • The Blue Sky Warrior manages to impress with her solid offensive statline of 32/35, good Resistance, and flight mobility.
  • Warrior princess is an interesting weapon, with effective damage against armored units letting her pierce through some of the metagame's sturdier threats. Unfortunately, the sheer sturdiness of most armors prevents her from reliably OHKOing them, and these units tend to have little trouble OHKOing Hinoka in return.
  • Fortunately, Hinoka the Firesweep Bow is the perfect weapon for Hinoka, giving her ample opportunity to dish out damage from multiple ranges due to her flight mobility, without fearing the counterattack. The Firesweep Bow set naturally makes great use out of Swift Sparrow, but Hinoka's good Resistance stat makes her effective at using ploys as well; of the ones available in the game, Speed ploy and Def Ploy stand out the most.
  • Hinoka's physical defense is atrocious, and her Attack isn't high enough to bust through armored units with Warrior Princess without significant buff stacking.

Ike: Young Mercenary
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveIke Young Mercenary Face FC

  • Ike is unfortunately outclassed by his Vanguard Legend counterpart, only holding insignificant HP and Speed advantages over him. Anything Ike can do, Ike: Vanguard Legend can do better -- and it shows in that Ike has a worse special. However, he can generally run the same builds to a similar but lesser effect.
  • Ragnell's built-in Distant Counter effect gives him coverage against ranged units, specifically Green tome users, with Steady Breath / Quick Riposte reinforcing his tanking ability, allowing him to take hits and dish them back out.
  • Ike's Resistance is abysmal, and his Speed is lacking compared to those above him.
  • The current meta has seen Ike fall from grace, as the deluge of faster units with superior mixed phase combat have rendered him obsolete.

Ike: Brave Mercenary
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveIke Brave Mercenary Face FC
B+
  • The strengthening of the metagame has been harsh towards Ike, as despite having great Attack and Defense and coupled with Urvan's damage reduction capabilities, he is nowhere near the metagame dominant threat he used to be.
  • Steady Breath in conjunction with Urvan makes Ike a good duelist, with particular effectiveness against heroes that utilize brave weapons. Quick Riposte is more useful here, as the guaranteed counter attack is more consistent than Beorce's blessing.
  • With his low Speed and poor Resistance, Ike is relatively easy to pick off from magical attackers, such as tome and dragons.

Ike: Vanguard Legend
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveIke Vanguard Legend Face FC
A-
  • Ike functions similarly to his standard counterpart, but with a superior stat spread. His stats make him a solid physical tank, with Ragnell giving him coverage against ranged units and a signature special that makes him a powerful enemy phase unit.
  • Warding Breath helps mitigate Ike's comparatively weaker Resistance stat, improving his matchups against mages and dragon units. It pairs extremely well with his Radiant Aether, allowing Ike to unleash it on enemy phase, provided he can attack twice.
  • Ike works well with Quick Riposte (which has terrific synergy with Radiant Aether) and Wrath (which gives his specials a lot more oomph). He can also make use out of Steady Breath and reinforce his already stellar Defense stat. He's also a great user of Special Spiral 3 due to how it synergizes with a Breath skill and Radiant Aether.
  • His low Speed and Resistance are his shortcomings. Even with Warding Breath, Ike will struggle to tank heavier magical attacks.
  • Similar to his regular counterpart, Ike's lack of good player phase combat hurts him when compared to the other swords above him, as his substandard Speed cripples him even on enemy phase.

  • His stats are on the whole rather unimpressive, but they're just enough to let him get by.

Innes: Regal Strategician

  • Innes's offensive statline of 33/34 makes him a solid offensive archer. His impressive Resistance makes him difficult to KO with magic attacks as well.
  • With Nidhogg's new refine, his defensive options have opened up a bit more. Its special skill is not even worth considering, but by going the Defense refine route and leveraging Nidhogg's base ability well, Innes can be a surprisingly competent Close Counter user -- so long as you're willing to stack Defense on him.
  • Otherwise, his bottom class Defense is a serious shortcoming, as it makes him struggle mightily against dragons and distant counter units.

  • His subpar Resistance is his biggest shortcoming, putting him at risk to dragons and mages alike.

Ishtar: Thunder Goddess
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveIshtar Thunder Goddess Face FC

  • The Goddess of Thunder has a terrific offensive statline that is even further boosted by her legendary weapon.
  • Mjolnir gives her 6 more Speed and a cooldown reduction for specials. Although it's ultimately not as powerful as a bladetome, it's more flexible, giving Ishtar an easier time doubling extremely fast units.
  • Skills that boost her offensive stat lines are a must, making Fury, Life and Death and Swift Sparrow the goto for her A-slot. Desperation is an easy fit, letting her bypass counterattacks altogether, which is particularly crucial in some of her harder matchups.
  • Ishtar is a powerful unit, but she's not flawless. She struggles to break through blue Res tanks like Effie and Fjorm, and has a poor matchup against Nowi.

Jaffar: Angel of Death
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveJaffar Angel of Death Face FC
B
  • Jaffar’s best option is an Enemy Phase build due to his exceptionally low Attack stat.
  • Like most all dagger units, he prefers taking the Cloud Maiougi+ and specializing against dragons specifically in the current Arena climate; while the Deathly Dagger can see good use in certain circumstances, it is not suited for the purpose of outright killing targets, and so isn’t considered for this tier list.
  • Low Resistance prevents him from ploying targets with above 30 base Resistance, but Jaffar’s more balanced Defense and Resistance stats (25 and 22 at base respectively) suits taking on dragons, compared to other dagger units who dump one stat in favor of the other.
  • Essentially in the same boat as Jakob; his stats are very similar overall and simply prevent him from really exceeding at Enemy or Player Phase combat even when specializing against dragons.
  • Because of his issues securing kills even with dragon effectiveness as outlined above, Jaffar is not suited for general use in the Arena.
Jagen: Veteran Knight

He isn't too shabby as a duelist either, and can make great use out of Defense Ploy to soften up opposing enemies.

  • Divine Naga gives her dragon slaying functionality (which is incredibly valuable

In the current metagame) and the ability to bypass enemy buffs, making it easier for to tank hits or deal damage to foes.

  • Julia has a couple of different skills at her disposal. Death Blow maximizes her player phase and ensures she can kill even the sturdiest of Nowi's in one blow. Fury on the other hand gives a tremendous boost to Julia's statline, making her deceptively difficult to kill and improves her ability to double. She makes excellent use out of Green Tomebreaker, a skill that allows her to serve as an excellent check to opposing Green mage units, and can ruin Lancebreaker to check to ORKO lance units.
  • Her Speed and low defense are her weak points. She struggles against Berkut's Lance Effie and Fjorm, and although she has effective damage against dragon units, red and even green dragon units rip her apart.

Julius: Scion of Darkness

There are some interesting applications here (such as letting him power through Reinhardt of all characters), but it falls short of spectacular due to Julius's defense.
  • He benefits from Distant Defense and Quick Riposte, which further shores up his meager physically Defense and gives him a stronger enemy phase respectively.

Kagero: Honorable Ninja
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveKagero Honorable Ninja Face FC
A
  • Like most all dagger units, she prefers taking the Cloud Maiougi+ and specialising against dragons specifically in the current Arena climate.

  • Because of this, she can run Chill Speed 3 in her B slot to improve her matchups against non-dragon opponents, and offer some measure of support for her teammates as well.
  • Since she is able to one-shot all dragons reliably, her low bulk isn’t an issue. However, her Resistance stat is not high enough to reliably ploy targets, preventing her from offering further support to her teammates.

  • Since she is able to one-shot all dragons reliably, her low bulk isn’t an issue. However, her Resistance stat is not high enough to reliably ploy targets, preventing her from offering further support to her teammates.
  • What sets Kagero: Spring Ninja apart from Kagero: Honorable Ninja is the 2 additional points of speed she has at base and her flier mobility, which makes her significantly more flexible to use in the player’s hands (having access to such skills as Guidance and Flier Guidance to help allies with positioning) and puts her above all other pure-combat colorless dagger units.
Kana: Dragon Princess
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveKana Dragon Princess Face FC
A
  • Kana is a capable dragon unit, with a well-rounded stat spread that fortunately doesn't let her down.
  • LightningBreath+ is the goto for most Dragon units and Kana isn't really an exception; with Steady Breath, Quick Riposte and a special of your choice, she functions similarly to Female Corrin as a fast enemy phase specialist.
  • Her default kit should suffice as well, with Waterbreath and Fierce Stance giving her a balanced enemy phase build that's particularly effective against melee units. Goad Dragons naturally makes her well suited to Dragon spam teams as well.
  • Relative to Fae, Kana has greater Speed and Defense, but lower HP, Attack and Resistance. Kana's greater Speed lets her avoid getting doubled by faster units, which, when coupled with her higher Defense stat makes her much better at taking on physical attackers. That said, her higher Speed is less essential in practice, due to a scarcity of fast blue units in the metagame. Overall, they're relatively on par with each other.
  • Her Resistance is a bit of a weak point, and she's reliant on buffs to make the most out of her due to her well-rounded nature.
Kana: Dragon Spawn

Alternatively, Guard and the Quick Riposte seal may be used to hamper powerful offensive units.
  • Kana's base kit can be put to great use as well, with Brazen Def/Res 3 and Waterbreath giving him an especially strong enemy phase against melee units, while Fortify Dragon makes him particularly capable on Dragon teams.
  • His stats are overly well-rounded, making reliant on buffs to excel. His inability to have boons limits his overall potential as a unit as well.

Karel: Sword Demon
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveKarel Sword Demon Face FC

  • Karel fits into the typical swift Red Sword archetype, having good Speed and serviceable Attack, and would have been completely forgettable were it not for his signature weapon.
  • His serviceable attack gets bumped up to extremely powerful by utilizing Nameless Blade's combined Wo Dao+ and Slaying Edge effect. Utilizing his high HP and mixed defenses, he is more than capable of tanking one hit. Then, utilizing Distant Counter, Wrath, and Moonbow or Reprisal, he can then instantly slay most enemies attacking him
  • He then has the speed to usually prevent himself from getting doubled, and against slower and bulkier targets double them back if the first hit wasn't enough to secure the kill. Wrath will let him always have his special up during the player phase, increasing his player phase burst potential.
  • His high HP pool also lets him run Panic Ploy well, supporting his team before first combat.
  • He's somewhat vulnerable on the Resistance side, and is completely reliant on the Nameless Blade for damage.
Karla: Sword Vassal
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveKarla Sword Vassal Face FC
S
  • Karla has a dominant offensive stat spread with 35 Attack and 40 Speed which is a combination that isn't matched by any other unit in the game.
  • Her stats alone would make her a huge threat but her signature weapon effectively gives her a 23 might slaying weapon at max power, which is completely ridiculous.
  • Karla is a fairly flexible unit. To start, a typical Distant Counter build with Wrath grants her coverage against ranged units while super-charging her offense after she takes damage. Alternatively, she can opt for a faster, melee-oriented build with Fury/Swift Sparrow, Desperation and Galeforce to make her a fearsome duelist that can potentially sweep through teams.
  • Karla's Defense and Resistance are below par, but classifying these as genuine weaknesses would be highly disingenuous (especially since her Speed and HP mitigate her poor defenses somewhat). Karla is currently about as good as it's going to get for offensive infantry sword units, being on par if not arguably surpassing the previous gold standard, Ayra.

  • Kaze’s best option is an Enemy Phase build due to his middling Attack stat.
  • Like most all dagger units, he prefers taking the Cloud Maiougi+ and specializing against dragons specifically in the current Arena climate; the Barb Shuriken+ he comes with is not a bad choice of weapon, but it doesn’t allow Kaze as many one-round matchups as the Cloud Maiougi does.
  • Kaze’s good Resistance stat (34 at base) allows him to ploy most dragons with ease; Attack Ploy increases his survivability and offsets his poor Defense stat, while Defense Ploy increases his KO potential.
  • Kaze’s high Speed stat (36 at base) allows more flexibility compared to lower-tiered dagger units; while primarily Enemy Phase focused, he can net some kills on Player Phase if the situation warrants it.
  • Kaze is still not the best choice for an anti-dragon specialist in the arena; however, since he can see some successes on Player Phase without assistance and ploy to improve his matchups, he is more useful than Saizo, Matthew, Jakob, and Jaffar in most every situation.
Klein: Silver Nobleman

  • Klein boasts well-rounded offensive stats that have not aged well, putting him below other similarly well-rounded archer units (such as Takumi and Jeorge) who have also not aged well.
  • Regardless, he functions wonderfully with his default kit, enabling him to ORKO decent portions of the metagame. His B slot is flexible, and he can be outfitted with whatevr you want to suit your teams needs (such as Bowbreaker, Swordbreakert, etc).
  • His enemy phase is poor and his stat arrangement makes him decidedly worse than other archers who perform his exact niche.

L'Arachel: Princess of Light

B
  • The beautiful princess of peerless beauty comes across as a fairly typical Cavalry unit... which is entirely the case. She has decent offensive stats and a fairly great Resistance stat, but nothing mindblowing.
  • Predictably she's a great blade tome user, leveraging her movement and offense to attack from multiple ranges. She can also stick with her default weapon for the helpful +3 boost to Attack and Speed (which pairs off well with Fury and Desperation).
  • Her physical Defense is really bad, which puts her at risk of physical attackers and also makes her struggle against Dragon units.

  • Refinery upgrades give her a new lease on life, with letting her make use out of Pain, Gravity and Dazzle builds to great effect.
  • Her awful physical defense aside, her stat arrangement leaves her directly outclassed by most healers.

  • Steady Breath, Quick Riposte and Slaying Edge are almost mandatory to get the most of out of him; he can also opt for a Brave Sword set, but is outmatched in that regard.
  • Unfortunately for Laslow, he's outclassed by a number of similarly bulky Red sword units, such as Chrom and Gray.

Legault: The Hurricane
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLegault The Hurricane Face FC
B+
  • Legault’s best option is an Enemy Phase build due to his middling Attack stat.
  • Like most all dagger units, he prefers taking the Cloud Maiougi+ and specializing against dragons specifically in the current Arena climate; The Cleaner+ he comes with is a very unreliable choice of weapon, as its power fluctuates based on a factor that the player has virtually no control over.
  • Legault’s high Speed stat (38 at base) allows more flexibility compared to lower-tiered dagger units; while primarily Enemy Phase focused, he can net some kills on Player Phase if the situation warrants it.
  • He is slightly better than Gaius in terms of offence, but has a bit less bulk thanks to a lower HP stat. There’s not enough of a statistical difference between the two to see an appreciable gap in performance because of this.
  • Legault is still not the best choice for an anti-dragon specialist in the arena; however, since he can see some successes on Player Phase without assistance, he is more useful than Saizo, Matthew, Jakob, and Jaffar for general team compositions.

Legion: Masked Maniac

  • Legion is entirely focused on offense, with an impressive 36 Attack/35 Speed stat spread. His defenses are quite lacking in comparison, however.
  • Legion is built for making use out of Brave Axe+ builds, with skills like Death Blow giving him the ability to cut down opponents of all kinds. Legion can also make use out of a standard Slaying Axe set in order to pick up a statline boost.
  • Legion's terrible defenses result in him having a terrible enemy phase.
  • Legion can't have beneficial IVs, but his strong offensive statline nearly makes up for it.

Leif: Prince of Leonster
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLeif Prince of Leonster Face FC
A+
  • Leif's statline is nothing short of fantastic for an infantry sword unit, with terrific Speed and good Attack giving him solid offense, in addition to having respectable Defense.
  • His statline gives him plenty of flexibility, but by far his most notable aspect as a unit is his signature skill, S drink. S-drink lowers his special charge by one, and it stacks with Quicken pulse and Slaying Edge; this allows him to make terrific use out of powerful specials immediately, such as Luna.
  • His mediocre Resistance is exploitable.

Leo: Sorcerous Prince
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLeo Sorcerous Prince Face FC
A
  • The Sorcerous Prince is an odd unit, sporting good, well-rounded defenses, but mediocre Attack and poor Speed.
  • The Rauðrblade+ is his goto offensive weapon, as it mitigates his lackluster offense. Paired with a breaker skill and Quick Riposte, Leo ends up having surprisingly good coverage against most of the metagame.
  • Quick Riposte specifically lets him leverage the significant boost from his blade tome to deal great damage to ranged units.
  • The refinement pushes Leo as a ranged counter unit, giving him near immunity to doubles from ranged units, allowing him to serve as a good general check to them. Unfortunately, Leo's mediocre attack, paired with the general high magical bulk mages tend to have can cause him to have problems securing kills against them, so it's sadly a lesser option.
  • His poor Speed is his biggest weakness, and he's reliant on buffs to shine on player phase.
Leo: Seashore's Prince
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLeo Seashores Prince Face FC
B+
  • Sporting average attack, and great Resistance, Leo is basically a mage Tank, with little going for him.
  • His Resistance when paired with Quick Riposte turns him into a decent enemy phase duelist, though despite this he still struggles against stronger mages.
  • A lack of good player phase due to below average speed hinders Leo greatly. His average attack also means he won’t one-shot much.
  • His awful defense means he does poorly against physical Distant Counter users, and it prevents him from functioning as a mixed tank like Sophia and Henry.

Leon: True of Heart

  • Leon is one of the strongest bow users in the game with 34 attack with serviceable Speed and above average Defense to go along with it.
  • His attack stat makes him the perfect candidate for aBrave Bow+ build. His B slot is entirely flexible, but a breaker gives him good coverage while Chill Defense can potentially make it easier for him to punch through tanks.
  • His Res does leave something to be desired and is somewhat exploitable, though he should shred through pretty much all mages on initiation.

Lene: Yearning Dancer
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLene Yearning Dancer Face FC
A
  • As a dancer unit, Lene's statline is more or less what you'd expect; weak all around, with solid Speed stat that gives her workable offensive utility.
  • The Ruby Sword should let her contribute somewhat reliably when it comes to dealing with Green units, though she can opt for a weapon that gives refine bonuses to improve her statline.
  • Skillwise, it's hard to go wrong with dancer staples like Triangle Adept and Wings of Mercy, though Firestorm Dance has its appeal as well.
  • Her Attack is mediocre (though she's not particularly reliant on it) and her defenses are lacking. The bigger problem is that she doesn't dance for gross men… which means most of our readers are out of luck!
Libra: Fetching Friar
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLibra Fetching Friar Face FC
B+
  • Libra has a well-rounded statline, with great Attack and even defenses, but an awkward Speed stat.
  • Fury works perfectly on him, boosting his offensive and defensive presence while also giving him a crucial boost to Speed, improving his mixed phase presence. Alternatively, Steady Breath can be used to specialize as an enemy phase unit, as well as Distant Counter to deal with pesky mages. Regardless of what set you choose to run, Quick Riposte is a staple.
  • The aforementioned Speed stat is his biggest flaw. It's too low for faster metagame threats, preventing Libra from doubling them even with Chill Speed. It's simultaneously too high for enemy phase sets that rely on targets doubling him to reach peak effectiveness. While still a capable unit, he's largely outdone by other defensive axe users that have more bulk at the cost of speed.

Lilina: Delightful Noble
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLilina Delightful Noble Face FC

  • Armed with Forblaze, Lilina fulfills her destiny as an extremely powerful one hit obliterator.
  • Forblaze allows Lilina to forgoe Raudrblade by having the same attack as a +4/+4 buff, while being more resilient towards Panic Ploy and offering support with the Chill Res effect of Forblaze.
  • The Death Blow effect, stacked with the skill and Lilina's high attack allows Lilina to OHKO every green and many red threats, and those that are res tanks get hit by the Chill Res effect of Forblaze
  • Because of Lilina's propensity to just kill units in one hit, her B slot is super open for other support skills like Chill Spd or whatever other skills you want her to have. Lilina also has solid resistance and semi decent speed, allowing her to tank magic if she has to.
  • However, her dismal defense stat makes her weak if trying to use Swordbreaker against sword units she can't OHKO, as well as requiring her to be shielded from other physical attacks.
Lilina: Blush of Youth

  • Lilina is a strong a unit due to her great Attack, but her other stats aren't particularly noteworthy.
  • Set wise, she has a few options at her disposal, such as a blade tome build or a gronnraven build, utilizing skills that benefit each of those such as Fury and Triangle Adept respectively.
  • Her mediocre defensive stats and Speed don't make her a particularly difficult unit to kill.

Linde: Light Mage
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLinde Light Mage Face FC

  • With her highly optimized stat spread, Linde is a strong offensive unit. Her high Attack and Speed still lets her run circles around most of the metagame, and her Resistance is good enough to make her a decent check to most mages.
  • Blárblade+ supercharges her offense, effectively allowing Linde to obliterate all but the sturdiest of units after receiving buffs. Desperation is a pretty typical, but good choice here as it allows Linde to power through would be counters once active.
  • Dark Aura gives her exceptional supporting ability without really compromising her offensive capabilities.
  • Her Defense is bottom class and she really struggles against sturdy mage tanks and dragon units.

Linde: Summer Rays
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLinde Summer Rays Face FC
A
  • Like most all dagger units, she prefers taking the Cloud Maiougi+ and specialising against dragons specifically in the current Arena climate.
  • Linde has a good attack stat (34 at base). This allows her to one-hit KO every dragon, so long as she runs Chill Defence 3 in her B slot.
  • She has a statline similar to Takumi: Prince of Soup, with both killing essentially the same units despite Linde’s one-point higher speed (35 at base, compared to Takumi’s 34).
  • Since she is forced to run Chill Defence to secure dragon KOs, Linde’s combat against other foes is not as good as Sothe or Kagero.
  • However, Linde reaps the benefits of being a mounted unit; buffs are easier for her to receive and her range is high, even in spite of trenches. This puts her above Takumi: Prince of Soup and more on level with Sothe and Kagero despite her lesser killing potential.
Linus: Mad Dog
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLinus Mad Dog Face FC
A-
  • Despite his status as a free unit, Linus manages to impress with his decidedly solid stat spread. 37 Attack is stellar, and it's backed up by his solid Defense, workable Speed and Basilikos.
  • Ordinarily, his Speed would be completely wasted on him, but Basilikos and the Life and Death refine change things in a big way, boosting his Speed to the point where it becomes competitive. In short, his offensive power gets a major boost with Basilikos.
  • Sticking with Brazen Atk/Speed makes him a pretty potent player phase unit, especially if it's paired with Desperation. Alternatively, the standard Distant Counter/Wrath build works wonders on him.
  • His Res is poor, and Basilikos only makes it worse. His low merge potential and a lack of boons limits him somewhat, but Basilikos mitigates this weakness somewhat.

Lissa: Sprightly Cleric

  • As a healer, there is little to no reason to use her over other healers, though she can still be put to good use with the various staves such as Pain, Gravity or Candleight staff paired with either refine ability..
  • Her low Speed makes it very easy to kill her.

Lissa: Pure Joy

  • Lissa's an extremely balanced stat spread with no major shortcomings, but she doesn't really dominate in any particular stat either.
  • Fortunately, her stats are just high enough to the point where they can be abused and she makes particularly good use out of Bold Fighter and Death Blow.
  • On the enemy phase side of things, she can predictably make good use out of Vengeful Fighter and Wrath to mercilessly take down foes that engage her.
  • Her Speed is low enough for most Red units to run circles around her, though they need to be wary of Bold and Vengeful Fighter respective, which can complicate the matchup. Ranged units don't face too much difficulty against her.

Lloyd: White Wolf

  • Lloyd is yet another Speedy Red sword unit with serviceable Attack, though his Resistance is impressive.
  • His lack of IVs limits his offensive potential somewhat, but his signature weapon makes up for this, as it is powerful and effectively gives him 34/37 offensive stats.
  • His Defense is very low, and he still has to compete for the highly contested Red Sword position.
  • Regal Blade's refine offers him additional stats, but requires specific team building as it is otherwise still fairly lackluster.

Lon'qu: Solitary Blade
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLonqu Solitary Blade Face FC

  • Lon'qu's new prf, the Solitary Blade, allows him to finally showcase his true skills. Not only does it grant him special cooldown -1, but its special skill is Life and Death 3, allowing him to increase his low Attack without sacrificing his A slot.
  • With 45 base HP, he is able to take a hit despite lowered defenses, pairing well with Desperation 3 or Wrath 3 to nuke an enemy with first strike Moonbow or Glimmer activations.
  • His high base Speed combined with his refine makes him an excellent user of the Flashing Blade 3 seal. With it, he can pair it with Luna and have it activate in one round of combat.
  • Fury 3 is a great choice for his A slot to mitigate the defense loss from his weapon. Distant Counter also remains an option if he has some form of healing support, but be wary when dealing with mages.
  • He's only really at full effectiveness after he takes a hit in combat, but his first round combat is still very good.
Lucina: Future Witness
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLucina Future Witness Face FC
S-
  • Lucina used to set the standard for red Sword units, as her exceptional Speed and great Attack made her a top notch offensive pick. The metagame has introduced a slew of powerful red swords since then, though fortunately, Lucina has still managed to keep up with them due to her stable statline and trusty Falchion.
  • Her Falchion refine allows her an additional option in having a powerful enemy phase by having the quad bond effect. This turns her into an effective mixed phase unit, able to be a fairly good tank while also having the speed and attack to initiate successfully when required.
  • Lucina has a number of options at her disposal such as Steady Breath, Fury and Swordbreaker, making her an excellent duelist and essentially allowing her to cover Green and Red sword units by herself. With Falchion, Renewal and Reciprocal Aid, she can turn into an off-healer, perfect for sustain in chain modes without sacrificing a spot for a healer.
  • Her Resistance is a bit on the low side, and although she can tear through Dragon units, she still needs to be wary of blue dragons that initiate her.

Lucina: Brave Princess

  • Just like Sword Lucina, she has exceptional speed with attack to back it up with decent physical defense. Her physical defense is heightened even further due to her unique lance.
  • Lucina is an excellent melee duelist, particularly against red and lance units. Running Fury allows her to reach 42 Speed for excellent bulk, but she still needs Lancebreaker to double fast Firesweep Lance users. Her personal weapon Geirskögul provides physical allies within 2 range +3 Attack and Speed in combat, which synergizes sensationally well with her innate C slot skill Drive Speed and increases their combat prowess and bulk significantly.
  • Her Resistance is a bit on the low side, though her Speed typically prevent her from being doubled by mage units.

  • Spring Lucina is an exclusive speedy blue mage with below average Attack and meager defenses.
  • Her Attack is more than usable in practice however, due to Blárblade+ tome and Fury, which significantly improve her offensive potential.
  • Outside of suffering from standard mage weaknesses, she faces heavy competition from mages like Linde, Delthea and Lute, who has a superior stat spread.

Lucina: Glorious Archer
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLucina Glorious Archer Face FC
A+
  • In a metagame where archers are increasingly being rendered obsolete due to rise of Armor and Dragon units Lucina manages to stand out and stay her ground, due to her great statline, terrific weapon and Weapon Triangle Advantage due to being a colored archer
  • Her status as a blue bow user gives a considerably easier time taking on red dragons and red armor, in contrast to colorless bow users.
  • Thogn is a great weapon; the offensive boosts make it easier for Lucina to double fast units, while the defensive boost allows her to better tank a counter attack
  • While her base kit of Swift Sparrow is pretty good, she also the statline to run a mixed phase Close Counter Quick Riposte set. In addition, her unique assist Future Vision opens up interesting possibilities with Link skills, granting Lucina a semi-consistent method of buffing her and her allie’s stats while also allowing her to immediately take advantage of them.
  • Her exploitable Resistance is her biggest shortcoming and it's particularly relevant in the dragon matchup. Fortunately, Thogn and proper support should let Lucina overcome Red and even blue dragons with the proper support
Lucius: The Light

  • Lucius has a rather typical healer stat spread; he's exceptional as far Resistance is concerned, has serviceable Attack and Speed, but his Defense is terrible (the worst in the game, in fact).
  • While generally outclassed by healers with better stat arrangements, Lucius can still make use out of many of the staves for reliable support, depending on your needs.
  • Unfortunately, his bottom class Defense and inability to stand out from other, better staff users makes him a fairly forgettable unit.

  • Steady Breath, Slaying Lance and Quick Riposte are a must for him on an enemy phase build, as it allows him to tear through physical attackers. He thrashes Red units and has a good matchup against most blue physical attackers.

Lyn: Lady of the Plains
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLyn Lady of the Plains Face FC

  • Lyn has lackluster attack, speed that still rates favorably, and decent defensive stats. While she's aged poorly as a unit, Sol Katti still provides a unique effect of allowing her to always double opponents before they can get a hit in if they can counter attack.
  • However, Lyn must already be damaged in order to gain this effect, meaning she will have to engage her first combat without Sol Katti's effect. She can either use a skill like Fury to help get there while padding her first combat, or go all in on the subsequent combats and use a Brazen skill.
  • She's the perfect candidate for Wrath, as its threshold corresponds to Sol Katti's, allowing Lyn to always 2 charge special an enemy she's initiating against.
  • With her fairly decent res, Lyn can use Def Ploy to good effect against most high defense, low res units, helping to mitigate her low attack.

Lyn: Brave Lady
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveLyn Brave Lady Face FC
A+
  • Brave Lyn's offensive stat line of 33/35 combined with cavalry movement and bow range make her a metagame threat.
  • She can run multiple builds ranging from her unique bow Mulagir, Brave bow, and Firesweep Bow. All builds are potent in their own manner from Mulagir ignoring bonuses on tome users and high weapon might, having doubles and quads that can't be countered by physical melee enemies when combined with her unique B skill Sacae's Blessing, and having the Speed to use Firesweep Bow allowing her to negate counterattacks by all units including Dragons and Mages that her B skill does not cover.
  • Her above average Resistance allows her easily survive magical counterattacks and opens up build options including Atk and Def Ploy.

  • Legendary Hero Lyn darts onto the battlefield with competent offensive stats, decent Resistance and two signature skills.
  • Swift Mulagir grants her a hefty boost to Attack and Speed, provided the number of allies near her exceeds the number of allies near her foe. To put it simply, it's a weapon that rewards aggressive turtling with your entire party, instead of on relying on 1-2 characters to deal with specific threats. Its effects are strong, but not consistent enough to be dominant.
  • Law of Sacae is a strictly enemy phase focus skill with a far more lenient activation requirement in comparison to Swift Mulagir. Unfortunately, it's a skill for a highly contested skill slot, and it's generally outmatched by other skills, such as Swift Sparrow, Death Blow and Fury.
  • Lyn works best by foregoing her default entirely and opting for specialized builds, such as a Firesweep Bow or Brave Bow build.
  • While seemingly promising, Lyn suffers from several key weaknesses that hold her back. Her default kit ultimately fails to shine in the current metagame, as the strict requirements on Swift Mulagir make it unwieldy, and Law of Sacae being a strictly enemy phase skill doesn't quite work with Lyn's offensive stat spread. She's also in an unfortunate color, which causes her to struggle against common blue tanks (Effie, Fjorm) and blue dragons (Nowi, Corrin).

  • While her Speed is good, it's not enough to avoid getting doubled by the fastest units, which when compounded with her awful Def makes her really weak to physical Attacks. She can mitigate this with Life and Death, though this comes at the cost of slightly compromised Resistance.

Maribelle: Dire Damsel
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveMaribelle Dire Damsel Face FC
S-
  • Maribelle's stats are comparable to Elise, but with a stronger emphasis on Attack and Speed. This effectively makes her the best cavalry healer in the game as a result, at barely any cost to her bulk.
  • With her offensive statline, she needs the Wrathful Staff refine to her weapon, and with her natural Dazzling Staff in the B slot, she can hit hard and fear no retaliation.
  • Like other staff users, she has a wealth of weapon options from the damage support of Pain+ to the movement locking abilities of Gravity+
  • Her base weapon, Trilemma, is an interesting weapon type in that it can help secure WTA matchups for weaker units. There’s also the fringe application of having one of your other units run Cancel Affinity to effectively make every matchup neutral.
  • Her defenses are largely awful (with her physical defense being bottom class) so care should be exercised when using Maribelle, lest she go down to an unrefined brute.
Marisa: Crimson Flash

  • Marisa has average offensive stats for a red sword unit with a strong emphasis on physical defense; she's actually quite durable.
  • While high investment, the Slaying Edge+, Distant Counter, Wrath and Glimmer set up make her a fearsome infantry unit with terrific coverage against green units and the ability to threaten physical tanks.
  • On the other hand, she's more than capable of contributing with just her default kit (+Quick Riposte). Regardless of what set you opt for, her naturally high HP makes her well suited to using Infantry Pulse.
  • Her Attack stat is middling, and an inability to have boons limits her overall potential.

  • While his combat is otherwise lackluster, with only decent attack and speed, his supporting abilities allows him to lean on his allies for off color matchups and focus on those he has triangle advantage against

  • Fury is extremely important for improving his overall stat line, with his Attack and Resistance receiving crucial boosts. His B slot is flexible, with Chill skills, Quick Riposte or even a breaker of you would work.

Matthew: Faithful Spy

B
  • Matthew’s best option is an Enemy Phase build due to his exceptionally low Attack stat.
  • Like most all dagger units, he prefers taking the Cloud Maiougi+ and specializing against dragons specifically in the current Arena climate.
  • Low Resistance both prevents him from ploying and hurts him against dragons (who can perfectly discriminate against defensive stats), making him worse at surviving than other daggers with high Res or balanced Def/Res stats.
  • He is statistically similar to Saizo, but Matthew’s comparatively better bulk against dragons (+2 Res and +5 HP) increases his survivability by an appreciable amount, securing more matchups for Matthew even in spite of his lower Attack stat.
  • Because of his issues securing kills even with dragon effectiveness as outlined above, Matthew is not a prime choice for general use in the Arena.
Merric: Wind Mage
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveMerric Wind Mage Face FC

  • Merric has an odd stat line for a mage, sporting mediocre Atk and very low Res while having serviceable Spd, average Def and and impressive HP.
  • Excalibur gives him the unique niche of slaying fliers, giving him terrific matchups against Green, Blue and potentially Red flying units.
  • His refine has given him a new lease on life. The cooldown reduction is solid, and when paired with skills like Bonfire and Close Counter give Merric a fairly good enemy phase.
  • He has a couple of options to consider when choosing how to refine Excalibur. The skill refine is definitely appealing, giving him a tremendous offensive boost to his statline. It's requirements are a bit strict, however, requiring the use of another mage or healer on the team, which can be difficult to slot in. If you're committed to make him work, this is by far his best option, as otherwise you're better off going with the Res refine to shore up his poor Resistance stat.
  • His awful Resistance and mediocre Attack are his biggest shortcomings, and although they can both be mitigated somewhat with his refine, it's difficult to patch up his Resistance and Attack at the same time.
Mia: Lady of Blades

  • Her personal sword gives her a nice boost to her Attack and a Wo Dao effect, amplifying her offense even further.
  • Mia can make use out of two very good and distinct builds; the distant counter build gives her coverage against ranged units, making her particularly handy against green mages and non-poison dagger units. She can also stick to using her default build with Flashing Blade, making her into a top class duelist.
  • She's ever so slightly vulnerable on the Resistance side, but outside from that she suffers from no real weaknesses.

Micaiah: Priestess of Dawn
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveMicaiah Priestess of Dawn Face FC
A-
  • Micaiah boasts impressive Attack and Resistance, in addition to being equipped with her powerful tome Thani, giving her a unique place in the metagame.
  • Thani makes her a solid armor buster, which is particularly valuable in a metagame dominated by armor units. Her effective damage against cavalry lets her one-shot down most cavalry units without fear of retaliation.
  • Micaiah can be built any number of ways, with offensively minded variants utilizing Death Blow for an easier time at OHKOing targets and defensively minded variants relying on Distant Defense to improve her staying power.
  • Micaiah's Speed and Defense are her biggest shortcomings. Her Speed makes it impossible to double enemies and puts her at risk of being doubled herself (which makes her reliant on breakers and Quick Riposte). Her atrocious Defense makes it easy for physical attackers to pick her off, and causes her to struggle against Dragon units.

Micaiah: Summer's Dawn
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveMicaiah Summers Dawn Face FC
S-
  • With a base 34 attack and the ability to dance, Micaiah comes in as one of the strongest of her type.
  • The Dawn Suzu not only grants her an additional Attack+3, but it grants her effective damage against armored/cavalry units while also having the Hardy Bearing effect -- disabling skills that change attack priority for both units in combat.
  • With her massive attack stat, a skill like Death Blow 4 is right at home with her. Her high Resistance lets her run Res Ploy 3 and Spd Ploy 3 very well.
  • Absolutely terrible Speed and terrible HP/Def makes it difficult to duel neutral matchups, and even some that she has WTA over. However, she still can Dance, which means her supportive utility is top tier.

Michalis: Ambitious King
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveMichalis Ambitious King Face FC
B
  • A bulky flier with impressive attack, HP and defense, but mediocre speed and very low Res. His playstyle and stat line is most similar to Beruka.
  • His defensive bulk and Hauteclere makes him a great user of Quick Riposte and Bonfire / Ignis enemy phase build.
  • His higher attack and legendary weapon Hauteclere give him slightly more player phase potential; however, his low speed and lack of IV potential hurt him.

Minerva: Red Dragoon
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveMinerva Red Dragoon Face FC
A-
  • Minerva has well-rounded stats with an emphasis on physical defense. Hauteclere makes up for average Attack and significantly boosts her offense by making her specials activate quicker.
  • Minerva's stats and Hauteclere afford her great flexibility in her build. Her default Life and Death makes her offense even more potent, and her naturally high defense means she still has decent physical defense after the defense drop. Fury is also a solid alternative on her to give her an all-around boost to her stat line.
  • Minerva's high Def and impressive Spd allows her to tank and survive hits well. That along with her solid Atk makes her a solid user of Vantage. Like most fliers, Hit and Run can also be taken for a safer plan of attack.
  • Special-wise, she can decide to run lower cooldown specials like Luna and proc them more often for the damage boost, or aim for higher charge cooldowns like Galeforce, which works best in conjunction with Heavy Blade.
  • Her Resistance is her main drawback, a weakness that Life and Death exacerbates. Minerva actually risks being OHKOed by even neutral mages, so she should be wary around them.

Mist: Helpful Sister

  • She's outclassed by virtually every infantry staff user.

Morgan: Lass from Afar
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveMorgan Lass from Afar Face FC
A+
  • As the second Blue Tome Flier, she is comparable to Summer Corrin, with higher Attack and Resistance but lower Speed and Defense.
  • While Morgan(F) has better one shot potential and more magical durability, this isn't enough to push her over Summer Corrin who's higher speed lets her double more targets. That said, Morgan is more than capable as a blade tome unit, and giving her a breaker skill will give her more coverage.
  • Alternatively, a set that utilizes her default tome and triples down on her ranged defense with distant defense is more than viable.
  • Flier movement makes her about on par with the glass cannon Blue Tome Infantry

Morgan: Lad from Afar
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveMorgan Lad from Afar Face FC
A-
  • An infantry mage with competent stats in both Attack and Speed; compared to his peers, his measures up favorably.
  • A set utilizing Rauðrblade+ and Fury is ideal, giving him the ability to deal significant damage to most targets and more doubling potential.
  • Grima's Truth can provide good utility if used correctly, but Morgan's offense takes a huge hit, resulting in him struggling to KO targets.
  • His bulk is middling at best; any unit with 2 range that can survive his initial hit will likely one shot him in return.

Myrrh: Great Dragon
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveMyrrh Great Dragon Face FC
A+
  • As the first flying dragon, Myrrh is a powerful asset in Flier, Dragon, or Mixed emblem having great bulk, attack, and mobility
  • While she doesn't have access to Steady Breath or other Breath skills, she more than makes up for it with her outstanding legendary weapon Great Flame, which allows her to ignore her otherwise lackluster speed stat and full stop speedy threats
  • Because of Myrrh's otherwise great bulk and high defense, she essentially becomes a flying unit with Wary Fighter, and coupled with Quick Riposte she can easily dispatch of almost any enemy in the game on enemy phase as long as it doesn't deal effective damage to her. Though her Player Phase without OHKO is quite lackluster.
  • She can be made into an effective Flying bow counter with Distant Counter and Iote's Shield, or double down on her melee fighting prowess with Close Defense as her seal.
  • Of special note, she can also stop most Bold Fighter units by both meeting the defense threshold and then making the speed check to not naturally get doubled.
Nanna: Nordion Princess
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveNanna Nordion Princess Face FC
A+
  • Nanna is introduced as being the highest speed horse healer in the game, though not by much
  • While her attack may be poor, she can utilize an offensively supportive build utilizing Pain, Savage Blow or a more support build with a buff and Gravity.
  • She is less capable of utilizing ploys, but has about the same bulk as the other weak horse healers of Clarine and Priscilla, serving as a kind of medium between them otherwise.
  • Because she is neither much worse nor better than the other two, she is tiered at the same level.

Narcian: Wyvern General
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveNarcian Wyvern General Face FC
B-
  • Narcian is extremely well-rounded, which is unfortunate because it results in him being rather mediocre all-around as well. He can't even rely on IVs.
  • His stats means he fails to excel in any particular role compared to other flying axe users. Michalis and Beruka excel more as defensive tanks, Camilla's access to IVs and better stat line (namely Spd and Res) make her a better hybrid tank and anti-blue mage Emerald Axe/Distant Counter user over Narcian, and he does not have the power to compare to Cherche or Minerva.
  • He can still be put to good use with modern weapons, but such as the Slaying Axe / Giant Spoon in an attempt to shore up his meager statline.
  • Ultimately the metagame shifts have not been kind to him.

Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveNavarre Scarlet Sword Face FC

  • With good speed and middling attack, Navarre is another speedy Red Sword to add to the pack, though he has not kept up at all with the new metagame sword users.
  • Predictably works best with a Wo Dao+/Slaying Edge build with Fury to bolster his statline.
  • Useable, but generally outclassed by other Red Sword units with better stat distribution with the same niche. The fact that he's locked to neutral IVs is a serious detriment as well.

Nephenee: Fierce Halberdier
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveNephenee Fierce Halberdier Face FC
A
  • While Nephenee's stat spread is fairly average among other lancers, her unique weapon, Dauntless Lance, gives her a powerful niche that only gets better as you climb in arena score
  • As a combined Slaying Spear and Slaying Lance, Nephenee's Dauntless Lance gets the anti meta anti-armor effect while keeping her reduced cooldown. In addition, her special skill refine allows you to choose from a strong enemy phase set using the skill refine or push towards a mixed phase duelist with a speed refine.
  • Nephenee's weak resistance and below average HP make her susceptible to magic OHKO, but if she does survive it she can take out even dragons with a Wrath empowered special.
  • If one decides to forgo Distant Counter on her, she can utilize a powerful Warding Breath set with a 3 cooldown special that will fire of after every hit she takes.

Niles: Cruel to Be Kind
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveNiles Cruel to Be Kind Face FC
B-
  • With a hopelessly low Attack stat of 25 and only "good" Speed stat, Niles struggles a great deal in the current metagame.
  • He can't even make use out of the archer staple, Brave Bow, due to his awful Attack. The Slaying Bow is his best bet, as he's particularly reliant on Iceberg for damage.
  • His high Res means he can effectively make use of ploys to weaken enemies to let him hit harder / use it as a support debuff for other teammates to more easily take out opponents.
  • His Defense is awful and offensively, he's effectively overshadowed by other archers with better and consistent Attack/Speed stat lines.

Nina: Eye Spy
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveNina Eye Spy Face FC
B+
  • Nina is a fairly typical gen 2 bow unit, possessing serviceable Attack, great Speed and solid Resistance, but poor Defense.
  • Her base kit is nothing to write home about either, as she struggles mightily against mixed defense units, and even high defense units have no trouble tanking the Shining Bow.
  • As such, she's better suited to making use out of the Slaying bow, with skills like Fury and Swordbreaker to give her an easier time at surviving and more coverage respectively.
  • Her Defense is her primary weakness, but as a whole, she's not a particularly strong unit.

Ninian: Oracle of Destiny
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveNinian Oracle of Destiny Face FC
A+
  • Has the privilege of being both a Dragon and a Dancer, and takes advantage of both despite having a poor statline.
  • Triangle Adept is by far her best A-passive, granting her the ability to act as a solid check to Red units. She can opt for skills like Swordbreaker and Quick Riposte to further improve her matchup against Red units.
  • Her mediocre Attack and Defense are her weak points, giving her limited combat potential.

Ninian: Bright-Eyed Bride
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveNinian Bright-Eyed Bride Face FC
S
  • Ninian breaks new ground yet again by being the first flying blue tome dancer unit in the game, and although her stats don't particularly impress (outside of her decent Speed) her immense utility more than makes up for it.
  • The Fresh Bouquet she comes with is a terrific weapon, granting her solid speed buffing utility while freeing up her C-slot.
  • Triangle Adept is pretty much mandatory on her, since it lets her contribute beyond just dancing. Her B skill is entirely flexible, with Chill skills or Wings of Mercy being useful depending on what you value.
  • Her physical defense is piss poor and her stats are low all around, but they don't really matter in practice. Bride Ninian is a top class dancer unit who can also function as a supporting attacker.

Nino: Pious Mage
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveNino Pious Mage Face FC
B+
  • Sporting low HP, Defense, and average Resistance, Nino makes up for all this by boasting an impressive 33 Attack and and even more exceptional 36 Speed.
  • Nino’s offensive stat line makes her a strong user of her default tome Gronnblade+.
  • Her lower defenses does mean she struggles even against the likes of Reinhardt, but her high Speed also acts defensively by preventing enemies from doubling her.

Nino: Pale Flower
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveNino Pale Flower Face FC
A-
  • Nino on Wings is essentially a better Nino, with a stronger offensive stat line and flight cementing her superiority.
  • Giga Excalibur is intriguing and definitely has its uses, but unlike Karla, it doesn't really help her break through key units (Fjorm and EEffie), so it's still ultimately inferior to Gronnblade.
  • She prefers skills like Fury/Swift Sparrow and Desperation to bolster her already great offense. Aerobatics is neat, and gives her more ranges to attack foes, but she doesn't really need it
  • Bottom class defense is pretty much her only shortcoming, though it's rather notable since it makes her struggle against dragon units and blue Resistance tanks.

Noire: Shade Seeker
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveNoire Shade Seeker Face FC
B+
  • Noire has decent Attack, good Speed, and incredible back pain, all of which culminates in her being a fairly average bow unit.
  • She's pretty much just limited to Slaying Bows and her default kit, which make the most out of her offensive stat spread. The Brave Bow build, while always an option, is less effective on Noire due to having an Attack stat that's only in the acceptable range.
  • Her Resistance is poor, and even her stat points in Defense are pretty much wasted, as reasonably strong physical attackers will still knock her out. And of course, her intense back pain is the biggest downfall of all.

Nowi: Eternal Youth
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveNowi Eternal Youth Face FC
A+
  • Nowi cements herself as one of the strongest and most utilized units in the game being powerful, common, and precious. With a solid defensive stat spread and good attack, she is able to tank both magic and physical sources, and then punch back hard against them
  • She's able to run a multitude of sets depending on what you need her to do. She can effectively run Steady Breath Quick Riposte to effectively counter red and lance units, while being able to stand up to blue magic and even many axe units. She also runs cheaper sets such as Fury or Triangle Adept very well.
  • In addition, the stats she chooses to focus on also depends on how you want to utilize her. She can invest into attack to better one shot enemies, defense to be reliable and independent, or speed to get to a speed tier where she's able to consistently not get doubled by enemies, and then double them back with Quick Riposte.
  • With Quick Riposte being a seal, she (and other dragons) have accessibly to other B skills such Guard, Swordbreaker, Bowbreaker, or even more exotic skills like Wrath
  • Overall Nowi is an extremely flexible unit who can be built to fulfill whatever task she is required to complete. However, while she is one of the best enemy phase units in the game, her player phase can be lackluster if she can't OHKO the enemy.
Nowi: Eternal Witch
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveNowi Eternal Witch Face FC
A
  • Nowi rounds out the triumvirate of flying mage units, sporting good (but not great) offensive stats and solid Resistance but at the cost of HP and Defense.
  • Grimoire has an intriguing effect, but Nowi works best with the Rauðrblade+ due to its consistency. With the proper support, she gains nuking potential and the ability to strike from multiple positions due to her flight mobility.
  • She can make great use out of Green Tomebreaker in order to better check offensive Green mages.
  • Her defense is lacking, and it isn't all that difficult to kill her with magic attacks either.

Oboro: Fierce Fighter
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveOboro Fierce Fighter Face FC
A-
  • Oboro is a straightforward unit, with great Defense and good Attack, but comparatively lacking Speed and Resistance. However, there's more to Oboro than just being a simple physical tank.
  • Despite seemingly compares poorly in comparison to the new infantry lance units, however, she's blessed with having the perfect boon and bane combination, +Res/-Speed.
  • This significantly optimizes her stats, letting her dump Speed in an attempt to mitigate her low Res. When this is paired with Berkut's Lance, Oboro ends up becoming a legitimately strong mixed tank.
  • Set wise, she makes good use out of Sturdy/Warding Breath and Guard, with the Quick Riposte seal. This gives her terrific enemy phase presence, letting her shut down powerful offensive Attackers and deal significant damage to them in retaliation. Distant Counter may be used to give her range against mages as well, though this compromises her offense.
  • She's a reliable unit, but her stats have limits and powerful magical attackers can power through her.
Odin: Potent Force
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveOdin Potent Force Face FC
S-
  • Odin's refine has completely flipped the script for him, as it gives him the means to leverage his surprising bulk with an easily buffed bladetome to become a competent mixed phase duelist.
  • Odin's Grimoire comes with Atk/Spd Link 3 as its special skill, allowing him to reach maximum buffs and damage with minimal support compared to other bladetome users. His weapon not having a cooldown penalty allows him to run 2 CD specials like Glimmer or Moonbow to great effect, often being able to secure killing blows against tanky enemies.
  • With balanced defenses and high HP for a mage, Odin is very sturdy against many metagame threats. A Close Counter build is effective on him and gives him an excellent enemy phase presence, especially when used in conjunction with Quick Riposte 3 and the Close Def 3 seal.
  • As if that wasn't enough, he can also function as a secondary buffer support, especially if you elect to give him Def/Res Link 3.
  • His stats and damage outside of buffs are pitiful, and as such he must avoid getting hit with Panic status at all costs.
Ogma: Loyal Blade
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveOgma Loyal Blade Face FC
A
  • Ogma functions similarly to Hana with impressive Attack and Speed but the added benefit of much higher physical bulk at the expense of tying with Virion and Bartre for the worst Resistance in the game.
  • Similar to Hana, he can run a Brave Sword+ set to make use of his strong Attack, this set has fallen out of use. Ogma can keep up with the times however and make great use out of Wo Dao/Slaying Edge builds with Steady Breath for a mixed phase presence.
  • His Resistance means he melts when a mage or dragon so much as sneezes on him.

Oliver: Admirer of Beauty
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveOliver Admirer of Beauty Face FC
A-
  • Fortunately (or unfortunately?), Oliver isn't a complete joke on the battlefield, as his Attack and Resistance stats make him a respectable mage tank.
  • Oliver can be built in a couple of ways, utilizing an Owl tome with Close Counter and Quick Riposte in order to be effective on Enemy Phase. Blárraven tome as always, will allow him to deal with colorless units.
  • Oliver benefits quite a bit from defensive skills like Distant Defense and Fury, and his high Resistance makes him a capable debuff unit with ploys.
  • In the end, Oliver's poor Speed and Defense are extremely exploitable.

Olivia: Blushing Beauty
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveOlivia Blushing Beauty Face FC
A
  • Olivia's stats do not impress at all, but it doesn't really matter because Dance essentially allows her to transfer her turn to another ally.
  • The Ruby Sword+ massively improves her matchups against Green units, such as taking out Hector or Grima. Her B slot is rather flexible, with Chill skills giving her debuff potential and Wings of Mercy potentially increasing her dancing range.
  • Her poor statline and lack of utility outside of dancing and checking green units mostly hold her back..

Olivia: Festival Dancer
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveOlivia Festival Dancer Face FC
A+
  • Olivia’s best option is an Enemy Phase build due to her low Attack stat.
  • Like most all dagger units, she prefers taking the Cloud Maiougi+ and specialising against dragons specifically in the current Arena climate.
  • Olivia’s Resistance stat isn’t high enough to be useful for ploying, and her lopsided defence spread hurts her bulk against dragon units.
  • Like most other refreshers, Olivia’s true strength comes from her dancing utility.
  • Being able to handle a good number of dragons regardless of their color, combined with her ability to refresh units, puts Olivia far ahead of most dagger units, securing her spot on the tier list.
Olivia: Sky-High Dancer
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveOlivia Sky-High Dancer Face FC
A+
  • Olivia enters as the red entry for flying dancers with a statline similar to that of Azura(NY), but with the added bonus of having Skuld, which buffs all stats of her dance target.
  • 30/34 isn't anything to write home about, but it's high enough to warrant passing up a gem weapon, making her signature weapon a great fit for her.
  • Olivia has a lot of flexibility to her and can make use out of any number of skills. From Chill Speed to Wings of Mercy, it's entirely up to you.
  • She's a top notch support unit, but she's not particularly durable and she's reliant on buffs and triangle advantage if she wants to succeed in combat.

Olwen: Blue Mage Knight

  • Olwen's stats don't really impress outside of Speed, but she wields Dire Thunder, which is an incredible weapon.
  • She can be built to make up for Attack deficit by using Life and Death, which significantly bolsters her offensive prowess, though alternatively Death Blow and Swift Sparrow can be used if you're concerned without compromising Olwen's defenses..
  • While she has high offensive potential with buffs, she's fairly weak without them and she's very frail on the physical side.

Olwen: Righteous Knight

  • This variant of Olwen has a much more attractive offensive statline than her predecessor, with 30/35 offenses and decent Resistance.
  • Thunderhead tome is by far her best weapon, leveraging the fearsome power of blade tomes without any drawbacks. Sticking with Swift Sparrow is also ideal, though Desperation and Glimmer work a lot better than Renewal and Blazing Wind as B-slot and specials respectively.
  • Her physical defense is bottom class, and her poor HP can make it difficult to take strong magical hits as well.

Ophelia: Dramatic Heroine

  • The chosen heroine arrives! I, the maiden of darkness, have a terrific Attack stat with fairly respectable Speed to boot. Both my Defense and Resistance are comparatively on the low side, however.
  • My signature tome, Missiletainn, is truly magnificent. On top of its -1 cooldown reduction, it grants me an additional cooldown reduction for every magic ally on the field, which includes myself! This lets me instantly activate high charge specials, devastating my opponent in one fell swoop.
  • I'm quite content using my default skillset, though I'm intrigued by Life and Death for its extreme boost to my offenses. Quickened Pulse is my favorite S-slot skill since when used alongside Missiletainn, ensures that my special cooldown is reduced by 3! I've been told that Blazing Wind is a generally more reliable attack special as well, due to covering a more compact range.
  • As I mentioned earlier, my defenses are both fairly lackluster! However, they're balanced, giving me an easier time facing off against Dragon and Armored units respectively, provided I have the proper support.

Oscar: Agile Horseman

  • Oscar manages to stand out in a sea of similar blue lance cavalry due to his good statline. 33/34 aren't glamorous, but they get the job done, and his decent physical defense, gives him a presence on both phases.
  • He makes best use out of either the Slaying or Harmonic Lance for effectiveness on both Player and Enemy Phase and stronger specials. He's also adept at using the Firesweep Lance and Brave Lance+ builds, but these are less effective as they used to bwe..
  • His defenses are on the lower side, with his Resistance being particularly abusable.

Palla: Eldest Whitewing

  • Palla has solid enough bulk to tank hits for her team while also dishing out notable damage. She can choose to go a more hyper-offensive Brave Sword+ route (if +Atk) or a green bait route with her default Ruby Sword+ and if available Distant Counter as well for the common green mages in the meta. Slaying Edge gives her a stronger presence on both phases.
  • She doesn't excel in any particular area and struggles to match up to other, better red flier units.

Peri: Playful Slayer

  • Peri has a good offensive statline for a gen 1 unit and a high enough Resistance to make use out of ploys.
  • Brave Lance and Defense Ploy make her an effective striker, giving Peri enough power to punch through strong physical tanks, in addition to picking off frailer red units with ease. Alternatively, Firesweep Lance gives her a safer offense at the cost of a bit of power, and she can make use out of a refined Slaying Lance set for a mixed phase set.
  • Her physical Defense is poor.

  • Basilikos supercharges his offense, making his player phase downright lethal. Naturally, he's well-suited to using Desperation, and once it's active he can go to town on most units.
  • He's not really lacking in any particular area, though Basilikos considerably weakens his defenses when used.

Rebecca: Wildflower
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveRebecca Wildflower Face FC
B-
  • Rebecca fits into the Speedy but weaker Archer mold, with great Speed and Resistance but poor stats aside from that.
  • She works best with a Firesweep build for fast, safe coverage against opposing units. She can also be put to good use with the Brave Bow, but her low Attack makes her one of the worst Brave Bow users.
  • Her mediocre Defense is exploitable and her underwhelming Attack makes her outclassed by most Bow users.

Reinhardt: Thunder's Fist
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveReinhardt Thunders Fist Face FC
A+
  • With his legendary Brave tome Dire Thunder, high Atk, and cavalry movement, Reinhardt was (and arguably still is) one of the most infamously powerful mages in the game.
  • His other stats are less noteworthy, sporting atrocious Speed and average Def/Res. This typically doesn’t factor into his performance when he initiates and obliterates most opponents.
  • Reinhardt wants all the attack power he can get from skills like Death Blow to make sure he can nuke the most units he can. The combination of Quickened Pulse and Moonbow makes him even more oppressive than before.
  • However, as the meta has gotten progressively more and more tanky, Reinhardt can struggle to take out targets, causing him to inevitably get doubled on return and lose.

Reinhardt: Thunder's Sword
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveReinhardt Thunders Sword Face FC
S-
  • Reinhardt's stats speak for themselves, with every stat but Speed being average or above average, making him a fearsome tank unit.
  • Meisters… The Master Sword makes him an absolute menace to deal with on enemy phase, as it grants him guaranteed, permanent follow-ups. This gives him a clear edge over other Brave Sword units, who tend to have lackluster enemy phases.
  • Distant Counter is an absolute must on him, giving him crucial coverage against ranged units, which in turn makes him tricky for opponents to deal with at both ranges. Vantage ensures (when active), that Reinhardt is able to strike opponents who target him twice before they can get a chance to attack him. This can potentially put teams in checkmate, should they be in a position where they can't tank Reinhardt's attacks.
  • His low Speed puts him at risk to strong units on enemy phase, as they can typically double him with little trouble.

Rhajat: Black Magician

  • Rhajat has a few options at her disposal; her statline lets her run an effective a bladetome build which gives her tremendous offense. On the other hand, sticking with the Keen Gronnwolf gives great coverage against cavalry units, giving her the ability to mow down even red cavalry units with the proper support.
  • Keen Gronnwolf can be upgraded for a nice stat boost and the immensely useful ability to nullify cavalry buffs.
  • Her mediocre defenses make her relatively easy to take out.

Robin: Mystery Tactician

B-
  • A green mage below average stats offensive stats, above average defense and subpar Resistance.
  • Robin has very little going for her as a unit. Her Resistance is too low for mage to mage combat, her Attack is lackluster, she doesn't really offer anything unique to the table, and she can't utilize different IVs as well.
  • Ultimately, she is outclassed by virtually every other Green mage in the game.

Robin: Seaside Tactician

  • Similar to Sharena, Robin's stats are well-rounded, with no real shortcomings outside of HP.
  • Robin is immensely flexible, and she can be built several ways. Deft Harpoon is by far her best weapon while Fury as always, is good for the statline boost (though she can run Triangle Adept in order to better counter Red units.)
  • Her HP is rather mediocre, which limits her tanking ability.

Robin: Fell Vessel
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveRobin Fell Vessel Face FC
A+
  • The Fell Vessel has a well-rounded statline with an emphasis on Speed, giving her the ability to do everything well. This is further emphasized by her color, which gives her a neutral matchup against everything.
  • Expiration is a fantastic breath, giving her coverage against ranged units and the ability to target the weaker defensive stats. Set wise, Robin makes great use out of her default kit with Dragonskin giving her a nice defensive boost and nullification of her bow weakness. Quick Riposte is particularly useful for crushing.
  • Flight mobility gives her more general utility and the more opportunities for general tanking.
  • Her status as a colorless unit prevents her from having positive weapon triangle matchups, which makes it harder for her to tank heavier hits from meta relevant threats. The game is designed around placing your enemy phase units near positive matchups, so generalists like Robin suffer in that regard. She's perfectly usable as a tank, though she benefits greatly from defensive buffs (such as tactics skills) to further bolster her defenses.

Robin: High Deliverer
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveRobin High Deliverer Face FC

  • Once a former staple, Robin has suffered a pretty major fall from grace. His stats simply aren't up to par, as he's uniformly below average in every stat barring Defense, and his Resistance is lacking.
  • Set wise, Robin still functions best with his default tome and Triangle Adept for dual coverage, though this has been lessened in effectiveness with the introduction of Cancel Affinity.
  • Simply put, the metagame shifts have not been kind to Robin, and he's a lackluster unit as a result.

Robin: Festive Tactician

S+
  • The Fell Dragon is a terror on the battlefield, with a top class Attack stat, fantastic physical Defense and decent Resistance. Speed is his only statistical shortcoming.
  • Expiration gives him adaptive damage, which when coupled with his already staggeringly high Attack, makes him a menace for physical attackers and mages alike. Both Vengeful and Bold Fighter strengthen his Enemy and Player phase by a significant amount, making him extremely good in either role.
  • While Robin has a number of strengths, his weakness to both Dragon- and Armor slaying weapons give foes more ways to exploit him. Depending on his B skill, he can be defeated in the enemy phase or during the player phase.

Roderick: Steady Squire
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveRoderick Steady Squire Face FC
B+
  • Roderick is a typical blue lance cavalry with average offenses.
  • He works best with his default weapon, Firesweep Lance+, and should further supplement it with skills Swift Sparrow. Alternatively, Slaying Edge with a refine will give him stat bonuses and a strong enemy phase.
  • His offense isn't high enough, and he's extremely reliant on buffs in order to succeed.

Roy: Young Lion
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveRoy Young Lion Face FC
A+
  • Roy's new refine provides a weapon with fantastic enemy phase potential. However, just like in his home game, his excellent sword is somewhat held back by its wielder
  • Roy becomes a strong enemy phase unit, but his extremely even stat spread means that he doesn't particularly excel in any particular field, and has awful player phase.
  • With Quick Riposte built into his sword, he can run skills such as Guard or Wrath to help bolster his tanking or damage.
  • His good resistance lets him run Distant Counter good as well, or you can run Steady Breath (or Warding) to focus on melee dueling.
  • He is particularly well suited to fight dragons, as his enemy phase prowess counters their enemy phase prowess.
Roy: Brave Lion
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveRoy Brave Lion Face FC
A-
  • Roy has a solid offensive statline when his signature weapon is factored him, giving him a healthy mix of power and range.
  • Blazing Durandal's built in Heavy Bade effect gives Roy's specials a quicker up-time, allowing him to use skills like Galeforce to great effect.
  • He can be built any number of ways, but works best with skills like Fury and Swift Sparrow for more offense/stability, and Swordbreaker for complete coverage against opposing red sword units.
  • He has lackluster bulk as a unit

Roy: Youthful Gifts
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveRoy Youthful Gifts Face FC
A+
  • Roy has great Attack and serviceable defensive stats, making him perfect for a hit and run playstyle that also occasionally allows him to tank hits when needed.
  • He was practically designed with the Brave Bow in mind, allowing him to dish out heavy burst damage without having to worry about his inability to double units due to his awful Speed. Naturally, skills like Death Blow and a breaker of your choice are ideal here.
  • His Speed is pure garbage, giving him an especially bad enemy phase; due to his low HP, strong offensive units will often kill him after a follow up attack.

Ryoma: Peerless Samurai
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveRyoma Peerless Samurai Face FC
A
  • Power creep has been hard on Ryoma, but he can still fall back on his good statline and [Raijinto]] to stand out as a unit.
  • Fury is by far his best option, as it grants him a hefty boost to his statline, though Steady Breath maybe used to seriously boost his enemy phase potential. Skills like Vantage or Quick Riposte further boost it, though Ryoma can use Wrath for a hefty boost in offense.
  • The gap between Ryoma and non Distant Counter sword units has more or less vanished in the current metagame. Raijinto is no longer as valuable, in a metagame where Slaying Edge, Wrath and Distant Counter is an extremely dominant strategy. Additionally, Brave Lyn and bulky armors with Bold Fighter have really lessene, the overall value of Distant Counter swords.

Ryoma: Supreme Samurai
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveRyoma Supreme Samurai Face FC
S-
  • With his excellent 34/39 offensive stat line, signature ability and flight mobility, this variant of Ryoma effortlessly manages to demand respect and awe on the battlefield.
  • Ryoma is an extremely flexible unit, being able to make great use out of several different builds. The most prominent being the Wo Dao build, which when paired with Bushido grants him a brutal +20 to special damage, grant him excessive KO power. Alternatively, Slaying Edge can be used for the vaunted Slaying Edge + Wo Dao effect combination.
  • Ryoma is one of the strongest Brave Sword users in the game, because Bushido grants him the special damage boost immediately (unlike Wrath), giving him a strong player phase from the get-go. His stat line also makes him well suited to Firesweep sets, utilizing Life and Death without worrying about its downside on the player phase.
  • His Resistance is poor... and that's pretty much it. Ryoma is a top class unit through and through.

Ryoma: Dancing Samurai
Status Icon WeaponStatus Icon MoveRyoma Dancing Samurai Face FC
S-
  • Descending from his throne to dance to the song of his people, Ryoma has 31/34 offenses -- a statline comparable to his regular sword version.
  • He wields the Sky Maiougi+, which grants him effective damage against armors while also disabling skills that change attack priority for both units. A very useful weapon to take down some of the tankiest units in the game. However, he prefers the Cloud Maiougi+ for dragonslaying.
  • Player phase skills like Death Blow 4 and Atk/Spd Solo 3 boost his high offenses even higher, allowing him to KO many bulky threats. Chill Spd 3 is great for increasing the amount of units he can double attack.
  • Though his offenses are high, his defenses are trash, so he can't see combat all that often. Dancing more than makes up for it, however.
