Important
  • This tier list factors in full Skill Inheritance when rating heroes, and is targeted at arena play.
    • Units are rated based on their full potential and with optimal IVs.
    • Each color is evaluated on its own. A 9.5 rating in Red is not the same as 9.5 in Green.
    • Order does not matter within the same tier.
  • More detailed explanations for individual units can be found below the chart.

Rating Criteria

Ratings in this tier list factor in Skill Inheritance. Units are rated by their stats (including boons/banes), skill potential, flexibility, and important match-ups. As with all tier lists, ratings can be subjective and should only serve as a general guideline.

Up until now, we've relied on the same rating criteria for all of our tier list updates. The idea was that we'd be able convey our thought process behind the requirements for each respective tier and hopefully make things clearer for the reader. Unfortunately, there was just one problem: it didn't work. Our old rating criteria was filled with inconsistencies. Going in depth was nice, but we didn't foresee the number of edge cases that would consistently (and infuriatingly) contradict our criteria. To be honest, it's something we should have addressed as soon as possible, because in addition to having inconsistencies, it was also cumbersome and wordy. Fortunately, those days are now over, as we're pleased to present our NEW tiering criteria.

S: Contains the metagame defining heroes. Units in this tier are highly effective on offense teams, consistently beating units they are required to defeat (ie: A red unit that can kill all green units and a fair amount red units). Alternatively, they can counter top tier threats or provide considerable support to allies, while also being a major threat in their own right. These units are staples, and are a common component for most teams.

A: These units are highly effective, but either have flaws that hold them back or simply do not reach the heights of S tier. A tier units can more than adequately contribute to a team, and in some cases, can even surpass S tier units depending on the team composition.

B: Weaker units that can still fill a minor, but important niche. They can typically succeed on most teams, but require a bit more support in order to use effectively. These units aren't bad by any stretch, but are demonstrably worse than the units in S and A tier.

+, neutral, and - still remain, but these are essentially function sub-tiers used to rate characters relative to each other. For example, an A+ tier character is better than a A tier character, but two characters within A tier are strictly on par. Please note that characters within the same sub-tier are NOT ranked in order.

Factors NOT considered:

  • Synergistic team compositions which utilize Infantry, Cavalry, Armor, Dragon, or Flying team buffs heavily are not considered.
  • Investment costs for promotions and skills are generally not considered in order to ensure more accurate analysis.
  • Availability of a unit is not considered.

Detailed Ratings

Name Icon Rating Notes
Karla: Sword Vassal Icon Portrait Karla Sword Vassal.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S+
  • Karla has a dominant offensive stat spread with 35 Attack and 40 Speed which is a combination that isn't matched by any other unit in the game.
  • Her stats alone would make her a huge threat but her signature weapon effectively gives her a 23 might slaying weapon at max power, which is completely ridiculous.
  • Karla is a fairly flexible unit. To start, a typical Distant Counter build with Wrath grants her coverage against ranged units while super-charging her offense after she takes damage. Alternatively, she can opt for a faster, melee-oriented build with Fury/Swift Sparrow, Desperation and Galeforce to make her a fearsome duelist that can potentially sweep through teams.
  • Karla's Defense and Resistance are below par, but classifying these as genuine weaknesses would be highly disingenuous (especially since her Speed and HP mitigate her poor defenses somewhat). Karla is currently about as good as it's going to get for offensive infantry sword units, being on par if not arguably surpassing the previous gold standard, Ayra.

Legault: The Hurricane Icon Portrait Legault The Hurricane.png Icon Class Colorless Dagger.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • Legault has the distinction of being the fastest Dagger unit in the game, with serviceable Attack to boot.
  • The Cleaner is an interesting weapon, but it's too inconsistent to be of use, and generally outmatched by more stable weapons like the Barbed Shuriken or Lethal Carrot.
  • He works best with a typical offensive dagger build, using mainstay skills like Fury and Desperation to give him a stronger offensive presence.
  • He's not particularly sturdy and is especially vulnerable on the Resistance side, giving him a really poor matchup against mages and dragon units.

Nino: Pale Flower Icon Portrait Nino Pale Flower.png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Flier.png
A+
  • Nino on Wings is essentially a better Nino, with a stronger offensive stat line and flight cementing her superiority.
  • Giga Excalibur is intriguing and definitely has its uses, but unlike Karla, it doesn't really help her break through key units (Fjorm and EEffie), so it's still ultimately inferior to Gronnblade.
  • She prefers skills like Fury/Swift Sparrow and Desperation to bolster her already great offense. Aerobatics is neat, and gives her more ranges to attack foes, but she doesn't really need it
  • Bottom class defense is pretty much her only shortcoming, though it's rather notable since it makes her struggle against dragon units and blue RResistance tanks.

Linus: Mad Dog Icon Portrait Linus Mad Dog.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Despite his status as a free unit, Linus manages to impress with his decidedly solid stat spread. 37 Attack is stellar, and it's backed up by his solid Defense, workable Speed and Basilikos.
  • Ordinarily, his Speed would be completely wasted on him, but Basilikos and the Life and Death refine change things in a big way, boosting his Speed to the point where it becomes competitive. In short, his offensive power gets a major boost with Basilikos.
  • Sticking with Brazen Atk/Speed makes him a pretty potent player phase unit, especially if it's paired with Desperation. Alternatively, the standard Distant Counter/Wrath build works wonders on him.
  • His Res is poor, and Basilikos only makes it worse. His low merge potential and a lack of boons limits him somewhat, but Basilikos mitigates this weakness somewhat.

Sanaki: Apostle in White Icon Portrait Sanaki Apostle in White.png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Flier.png
A+
  • The girl who really shouldn't be a bride has strong Attack and Resistance stats, with Mediocre (but serviceable) Speed.
  • Nifl flowers have some interesting applications, especially if you want to salvage Sanaki's Speed, but for your money you're better off with the Gronnblade's incredible power
  • For skills, Chill Res improves Sanaki's oneshot potential, while ploys give her added utility against the opposing team. Def/Res Link doesn't improve her combat ability, but the defensive boost are particularly handy when targeting a tank unit.
  • Bottom class Defense and mediocre speed are her biggest hangups.

Ninian: Bright-Eyed Bride Icon Portrait Ninian Bright-Eyed Bride.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Flier.png
S
  • Ninian breaks new ground yet again by being the first flying blue tome dancer unit in the game, and although her stats don't particularly impress (outside of her decent Speed) her immense utility more than makes up for it.
  • The Fresh Bouquet she comes with is a terrific weapon, granting her solid speed buffing utility while freeing up her C-slot.
  • Triangle Adept is pretty much mandatory on her, since it lets her contribute beyond just dancing. Her B skill is entirely flexible, with Chill skills or Wings of Mercy being useful depending on what you value.
  • Her physical defense is piss poor and her stats are low all around, but they don't really matter in practice. Bride Ninian is a top class dancer unit who can also function as a supporting attacker.

Tharja: Obsessive Bride Icon Portrait Tharja Obsessive Bride.png Icon Class Red Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Bride Tharja sets the new standard for offensive red mages, sporting a crisp 35/35 offensive statline.
  • As always, bladetomes are a goto for offensive mage units, and Tharja makes great the usual standard, with skills like Fury and Desperation being fantastic for further increasing her statline and effectiveness against units respectively.
  • Múspell Fireposy is straight up less effective, but still viable and fun weapon choice, significantly bolstering Tharja's offensive statline and make it easier for her to double units (possibly some of the fastest in the game, with sufficient speed buffs).
  • Her defenses are on the mediocre side, but fortunately not low enough to be a considerable weakness.

Marth: Altean Groom Icon Portrait Marth Altean Groom.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
B+
  • Marth is a well-rounded cavalry unit, with an emphasis towards Speed but comparatively poor Resistance.
  • He unfortunately lacks a defined niche. He can perform fairly well with the Slaying Axe or Giant Spoon, but not to a degree that makes him stand out. As such, he's probably best relying on his Ardent Service, granting him the perfect middle ground between supporting and offensive play.
  • Fury is extremely important for improving his overall stat line, with his Attack and Resistance receiving crucial boosts. His B slot is flexible, with Chill skills, Quick Riposte or even a breaker of you would work.
  • His low Resistance, merely satisfactory Attack, low merge potential and lack of boons really hold him back.

Ryoma: Supreme Samurai Icon Portrait Ryoma Supreme Samurai.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Flier.png
S
  • With his excellent 34/39 offensive stat line, signature ability and flight mobility, this variant of Ryoma effortlessly manages to demand respect and awe on the battlefield.
  • Ryoma is an extremely flexible unit, being able to make great use out of several different builds. The most prominent being the Wo Dao build, which when paired with Bushido grants him a brutal +20 to special damage, grant him excessive KO power. Alternatively, Slaying Edge can be used for the vaunted Slaying Edge + Wo Dao effect combination.
  • Ryoma is one of the strongest Brave Sword users in the game, because Bushido grants him the special damage boost immediately (unlike Wrath), giving him a strong player phase from the get-go. His stat line also makes him well suited to Firesweep sets, utilizing Life and Death without worrying about its downside on the player phase.
  • His Resistance is poor... and that's pretty much it. Ryoma is a top class unit, through and through.

  • Abel functions as a serviceable lance cavalry unit, with average offensive stats and decent defenses.
  • He can run a Brave Lance or Slaying Lance, with the former relying on skills like Death Blow and Hit and Run for maximum burst damage and the safety, while the latter making use out of Fury and Swordbreaker in order to facilitate a mixed phase build.
  • He doesn't really stand out as a unit and is generally outclassed by Oscar.

Alfonse: Prince of Askr Icon Portrait Alfonse Prince of Askr.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • Alfonse has struggled to compete with the slew of bulky infantry sword units who since been introduced. Still, he is still capable of somewhat keeping up as a unit due to skill inheritance, which is commendable.
  • He has a surprising amount of options at his disposal, such a Steady Breath builds with Guard to make him a strong tank, or a typical Brave Sword build. He can even make use out of his default kit with a breaker of your choice for, to provide simple, but reliable performance as a red sword unit.
  • He is outshined by bulky Sword units that have comparable Attack and Defense, but far greater Speed.

Alfonse: Spring Prince Icon Portrait Alfonse Spring Prince.png Icon Class Green Axe.png

A-
  • Spring Alfonse is a fairly typical cavalry unit, though his combination of good Attack and Speed is unique as far as Green Cavalry units go.
  • His stats make him well suited towards hit and run Brave builds, though he appreciates Slaying Axe as well. Giant Spoon isn't too shabby either.
  • His Resistance is pretty dismal.

Alm: Hero of Prophecy Icon Portrait Alm Hero of Prophecy.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S-
  • Originally an underwhelming Falchion wielder with aggressively mediocre stats, the 2.2 refinery update changed everything for Alm.
  • His new refinery ability (Double Lion) gives him a brave effect, which when backed by the raw power of the Falchion, gives him devastating offense. To put it another way, Alm is capable of a ORKOing a significant portion of the metagame.
  • Alm doesn't want for much as far as inheritance goes; simply inheriting Death Blow and giving him Attack +3 or Heavy Blade will considerably strengthen his damage output. He can make use out of various skills for his B-slot,
  • Alm can now power through all dragons (including Nowi and Corrin) a feat that cannot be matched by any other unit in the game, making him a premier dragon killer.
  • His Falchion refine makes it difficult to defeat him on enemy phase, so opting to take him on player phase is the ideal way to beat him. He's far less threatening after taking damage as well.
Amelia: Rose of the War Icon Portrait Amelia Rose of the War.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Armored.png
S-
  • The Rose of War has a fantastic statline, with 34/34 offenses and exceptional physical Defense, making her into one of the metagame's best offensive tanks.
  • She makes great use out of Slaying Axe+ build with Distant Counter and Wrath, to give her a particularly strong mixed presence.
  • While Amelia has a lot of things going for her, her low Resistance is a notable weak point .

Anna: Commander Icon Portrait Anna Commander.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • The strengthening of the meta has been hard on Anna, as her lackluster Attack and lack of boons makes it difficult for her to stand out as a unit. Fortunately, she still has her exceptional Speed to fall back on.
  • Distant Counter is practically a must, since it leverages her great Resistance stat and makes her a fairly effective mage killer. The Giant Spoon and Wrath supercharge her offense and make her specials hit hard, though she can still make use out of Slaying Axe or even her default weapon.
  • Her poor physical Defense and mediocre Attack are her biggest shortcomings.

Arden: Strong and Tough Icon Portrait Arden Strong and Tough.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Armored.png
S
  • With a whopping 60 HP, 41 Defense and 36 Attack, Arden is more than just Strong and Tough; he's scary.
  • A highly optimized statline isn't the only thing he has going for him either as his signature Follow Up ring guarantees a double attack in battle, making him a threat on both Player and Enemy phases.
  • While Arden can do considerable damage with his default kit, Distant Counter, Slaying Edge and Quicken Pulse turn him into a terrifying threat, as a single hit from an opponent will instantly activate Bonfire and deal considerable damage in return.
  • While Arden is a physical powerhouse, he predictable suffers in the Speed department. It's low enough to the point where virtually any unit can double him, and units that can survive a hit from him will typically beat him.

Ares: Black Knight Icon Portrait Ares Black Knight.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A
  • Ares closely follows in the footsteps of his father and other tanky red cavalry units by possessing high Attack, good physical defense and mediocre Speed. Statistically, he doesn't really bring anything new to the table, but fortunately he's got more going for him.
  • Dark Mystletainn for example, is very powerful. With a built in cooldown reduction for specials AND a -2 cooldown after combat, Ares can be set up to endlessly fire off specials, one after another.
  • Set wise, Ares benefits from an enemy phase oriented build, using skills like Quick Riposte and Distant Counter to consistently take out speedier units or ones with range. The combination of Distant Counter, Quicken Pulse and Vantage give him a particularly nasty enemy phase once he gets going.
  • His mediocre Speed and poor Res make him relatively easy for faster blue units to deal with. In other words, killing him in one round prevents him from making the most out of his skillset.

Arthur: Hapless Hero Icon Portrait Arthur Hapless Hero.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • Hapless Hero is a good descriptor for him because Arthur honestly doesn't have much going for him.
  • His stats make him well suited towards abusing Steady Breath and Quick Riposte, and he appreciates the Slaying Axe+ for the stat boosts.
  • He doesn't excels at anything, leaving him outclassed by most axe infantry.

Arvis: Emperor of Flame Icon Portrait Arvis Emperor of Flame.png Icon Class Red Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • Arvis is an interesting mage unit; statistically, his offensive stats are average at best, and his defense is poor. He makes up for it with a great Resistance stat, which synergizes well with his legendary tome.
  • Valflame gives him built in Attack / Resistance ploy, potentially giving his attacks a bit more of a oomph against most targets, in addition to providing ranged Attack debuff utility.
  • That said, Arvis is pretty inflexible as a unit, since he risks being outclassed by other mages if he uses anything other than Valflame. As a result, he works best with Fury in order to give him a much needed boost to his statline, and Green Tomebreaker, which lets him hard counter faster green mage units. His signature skill, Recovery Ring, is nice for mitigating Fury recoil as well.
  • His dismal defense is his biggest shortcoming and he's generally outmatched by faster, more specialized Red mages.

Athena: Borderland Sword Icon Portrait Athena Borderland Sword.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • The introduction of powerful infantry sword units has been rough on Athena (she's literally overshadowed by Mia), but she can still hang with the best as her stats make her more than capable at performing as an infantry sword unit.
  • She does well with builds utilizing Wo Dao and Steady Breath or a Distant Counter builds with Wrath and Slaying Edge.
  • Outside of being completely overshadowed by Mia, she suffers from the typical infantry sword weaknesses.

Ayra: Astra's Wielder Icon Portrait Ayra Astras Wielder.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S+
  • Ayra sets a new standard for Red sword units, as her excellent offensive stats, solid physical defense, and obscenely powerful signature speical put her at the very top of the red sword unit bracket.
  • Ayra has quite a few options at her disposal and can succeed with just about any offensive build. She works best with a Slaying Sword, Distant Counter and Wrath, for excellent player and enemy phase coverage.
  • Aside from her less than stellar Resistance stat she doesn't have any major shortcomings as a unit. She's top class in every regard.

Azama: Carefree Monk Icon Portrait Azama Carefree Monk.png Icon Class Colorless Staff.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • Azama is obnoxiously bulky on the physical side of things, but not really notable for anything else.
  • His statline makes him a great annoyer, with builds like Pain+ and Savage Blow on both C and S slots dealing devastating secondary damage. Close Defense makes him even sturdier on the physical side, making it surprisingly difficult to ORKO him without a special.
  • His speed is poor, and his Resistance is mediocre, making him a prime target for mage users.

Azura: Lady of the Lake Icon Portrait Azura Lady of the Lake.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Infantry.png

  • Azura’s competent offensive statline allows her to function as a decent infantry lance unit, all while providing dance utility.
  • Fury provides are a much needed boost to her meager statline, while Wings of Mercy can potentially give her a greater danace range.
  • Her physical defense is lackluster and her effectiveness against non-red units is poor.

Azura: Celebratory Spirit Icon Portrait Azura Celebratory Spirit.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Flying.png
S
  • None of Azura's stats (barring Speed) are particularly impressive, but that means little when her unique combination of flight and the ability to sing are taken into account.
  • While Azura primarily functions as a singer, her combat should still be strengthened to the point of being passable; fortunately, Triangle Adept and the Emerald Axe easily allow her to do this.
  • She can run Distant Counter and Green Tomebreaker for coverage against Blue and Green units.
  • Her defenses are rather poor, and red units tend to box her out pretty hard.

Azura: Lady of Ballads Icon Portrait Azura Lady of Ballads.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S-
  • Azura has quite a bit going for her, with respectable offensive stats and impressive Resistance to go along with her singing utility.
  • Urðr's gives her a noticeably stronger offense in comparison to other dancer units, and its secondary ability gives sing recipients a nifty boost to all their stats. That said, Urðr's method of applying buffs makes it less reliable as a buffing tool, as units prefer receiving buffs at the start of the turn in order to maximize the amount of damage they can deal with sing support.
  • Azura can also opt for a more specialized build utilizing Emerald Axe+, Distant Counter and Green Tomebreaker to check various metagame threats.
  • Her general frailty (especially on the physical side) is her greatest shortcoming.

Barst: The Hatchet Icon Portrait Barst The Hatchet.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • Unlike the other far more obnoxious and burly infantry axe fighter, Barst unfortunately suffers from being a "jack of all trades, master of none."
  • His statline is good enough for every standard usable by infantry axe users (Brave Axe, Steady Breath, etc), but Barst is simply outclassed by his peers. Still, he should perform fine using the listed sets, but don't expect him to stand out.
  • In addition to being overshadowed, his awful Res is a problem..

Bartre: Fearless Warrior Icon Portrait Bartre Fearless Warrior.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • The king of dud summons is actually a fairly decent unit, with his impressive Attack and great physical Defense making him well suited to tank roles.
  • Steady Breath and Bartre go together like peanut butter and jam, as his ability to function as a physical tank improves dramatically. It pairs off extremely well with Slaying Axe and Quick Riposte, allowing him to fire off Ignis's after being attacked.
  • His low Speed and tragically low Resistance means any magic user will make short work of him.

Berkut: Prideful Prince Icon Portrait Berkut Prideful Prince.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • Fails to live up to his lance.
  • A brave lance build is likely his best bet, but no matter what Berkut opts to go for, he is outclassed by other blue cavalry units.
  • His low Speed and abusable Resistance makes him an easy target for mages. Physical tanks should have no trouble taking him out either.

Beruka: Quiet Assassin Icon Portrait Beruka Quiet Assassin.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Flying.png

  • Sports one of the highest Defense stats in the game, making it extremely difficult for physical blues, greens, and even some reds to kill her, especially when on Defensive Terrain.
  • Has amazing synergy with Slaying Axe+, Close Defense, Quick Riposte, and Bonfire or Ignis to act as a bulky duelist, and nets her similar matchup wins to Michalis despite his higher attack while still being able to have IVs.
  • Iote's shield removes her flier weakness, ironically making her an excellent check to most bow units.
  • Her poor Resistance is her biggest shortcoming.

Black Knight: Sinister General Icon Portrait Black Knight Sinister General.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Armored.png
S+
  • The Black Knight boasts solid 34/34 offensive stats along with great physical defense. His built in Distant Counter makes him extremely effective at both offense and defense.
  • His signature Black Luna is arguably the strongest special in the game currently; reducing a target's defense by 80% on a 3 charge cooldown is nothing short of ridiculous, and it lets him dominate in many 1v1 matchups.
  • Enemy phase variants work best with Steady Breath and the Quickened Pulse seal, since it allows him to make the most out of Black Luna, guaranteeing its activation on the first round of combat and almost always OHKOing its target. Player phase variants can make use out of Bold Fighter to outright steamroll most units.
  • Although he has especially good speed for an armored unit, he suffers from low resistance, rendering him vulnerable to mages, including those of the same color, assuming he doesn’t have specific builds to counter them.

Boey: Skillful Survivor Icon Portrait Boey Skillful Survivor.png Icon Class Green Tome.png

  • Has very high physical bulk for a mage, but terrible Resistance, making it hard to trade with enemy mages.
  • His offensive stat spread is very mediocre, not having good Attack nor good Speed.
  • Gronnowl+ requires very strict positioning to pull off, and he is severely hindered stat-wise if he doesn't receive the buffs.
  • He could make use of the Triangle Adept, Gronnraven+ build, but he wouldn't be much more effective with it compared to other users of the same build.

Caeda: Talys's Heart Icon Portrait Caeda Talyss Heart.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Flying.png

  • Caeda has incredibly high Speed and Resistance stats but poor Attack and Defense stats.
  • Her Wing Sword gives her fantastic effective damage against Armored- and Cavalry units, as she has effective damage against them..
  • Her refine synergizers incredibly well with Galeforce, giving her the ability to quickly activate the skill and attack her opponents multiple times. Desperation is practically a must, as it lets her attack bulkier units with everyhing she's got without fear of retaliation .
  • As previously mentioned, her Attack and Defense stats hold her back. Unfortunately, she's pretty much limited to taking on Green armored units and debuffed red armors, as her low Attack betrays her weapon.

  • His resistance is on the weaker side, and he's completely outclassed by stronger red sword cavalry units.

Camilla: Bewitching Beauty Icon Portrait Camilla Bewitching Beauty.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Flying.png
A+
  • Camilla has a balanced stat spread, and although this would ordinarily doom most units, she manages to make it work due to a combination of class, solid stat distribution and a particularly great Resistance stat.
  • She is very resilient to hits with decent speed, 28 Defense and 31 Resistance. With Slaying Axe and Distant Counter for ranged unit coverage, she becomes a capable unit on both phases. She can also be built with an Emerald Axe+, to shrug off meta blue mage threats such as Reinhardt and make great use out of ploys.
  • She doesn't suffer from any overt flaws, though her middling Attack makes her green axe matchups somewhat difficult.

Camilla: Holiday Traveler Icon Portrait Camilla Holiday Traveler.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • She's similarly versatile on the skills front; Death Blow, Swift Sparrow, Fury, Hit and Run and Desperation are just a few of the many different skills she can run. It's ultimately up to the player.
  • Her low Resistance is her primary weak point.

Camilla: Spring Princess Icon Portrait Camilla Spring Princess.png Icon Class Green Tome.png

  • Limited time unit from the Spring Festival event. She is the first flier mage to be introduced in the game. She has great Attack and Defense, meaning she can take physical hits very well, which is rare for a mage.
  • Her amazing mobility and range as a flier provides great utility to a team.
  • With a Gronnraven+ build, she can handle a good amount of enemies. She can even outright counter bow units with Iote's shield.
  • Unfortunately with her low Speed and Resistance, she struggles to fight against enemy mages whom she cannot oneshot.

Camus: Sable Knight Icon Portrait Camus Sable Knight.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • He can't really use any other set without being wholly outclassed, and doesn't particularly excel with his default set up either. He's merely okay as a unit overall.

Catria: Middle Whitewing Icon Portrait Catria Middle Whitewing.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • With Gronnraven+ she makes short work of annoying Bow units, especially if she's equipped with Bow Breaker. She can also counter Reinhardt if she's equipped with Triangle Adept, and act as a strong check to blue tome units.
  • Her low base Speed and weaker defense makes her helpless against physical attackers. She also risks getting overwhelmed in advantageous matchups due to her decent statline.

Celica: Caring Princess Icon Portrait Celica Caring Princess.png Icon Class Red Tome.png

  • Celica has good Attack and Speed stats similar to Tharja, but boosted even higher with her legendary tome Ragnarok.
  • Ragnarok affords her quite a bit of flexibility in comparison to other red mage nukes as she essentially has a one time +5/5 boost to her offenses.
  • She has a couple build options such as running Fury with Desperation, with the former naturally activating the ladder after a single round of combat. She also does fairly well with a Life and Death build, but this compromises her defense and gives her a poor matchup against dragon units.
  • Both her defensive stats are low.

Charlotte: Money Maiden Icon Portrait Charlotte Money Maiden.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • Has great synergy with Brave Axe+ and Death Blow, allowing her to kill nearly every green and blue unit in the game with Death Blow and Attack buffs.
  • Flying mobility grants her safety through the use of Hit and Run / Drag Back, simulating a ranged unit.

It is extremely difficult for most foes to survive a round against him. To put it another way, Chrom even comes out on top against a fair amount of red units!
  • Vengeful Fighter makes him a fearsome enemy phase unit, and Wary Fighter can make him annoying to deal for foes, making him a good pick for a Defense team.
  • His Speed is a weakpoint, but it's almost completely mitigated by Bold and Vengeful Fighter. Beating Chrom depends entirely on his moveset. Ranged units have an fairly easy time with him.

  • Paladin Chrom is a mobile tank, with incredible Attack, great Defense and mounted mobility to give him a bit of flexibility when engaging enemies.
  • Sealed Falchion offers dragon slaying utility and a hefty statline boost after activation. Unfortunately, the statline boost its a bit slow to be of consistent use in matches as it typically won't active in Chrom's first engagement. Still, it can be put to good use with the proper setup (such as Ardent Sacrifice), and Chrom makes particularly good use out of it when paired with Distant Counter and Quick Riposte.
  • Conversely, he can opt for a Slaying Edge for a consistent statline boost via refinery and a special cooldown, culminating in a stronger presence on both phases.
  • Chrom's poor Resistance makes him extremely vulnerable to mages and dragons, though he can potentially OHKO the latter with the sealed Falchion. His Speed is fairly exploitable as well.

Clair: Highborn Flier Icon Portrait Clair Highborn Flier.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • A lance flier with Great Speed and Resistance, but heavily lacking in Attack and Defense, similar to Caeda.
  • Works well with Firesweep, but unlike Shanna and Catria who use Swift Sparrow, she's required to run Life and Death to keep up with them.
  • Defense Ploy lets Clair leverage her high Res to bring down enemy defenses to patch up her low attack. Since she’s a flier, the lesser mobility restrictions make it easier to apply Defense Ploy as well. Coupled with her high Speed, Clair now becomes a respectable offensive threat. However, Clair cannot run Life and Death if she wants to keep her Resistance stat high, meaning she falls behind Shanna and Catria offensively.
  • She'll always have a use on most teams due to her unit type, but she'll be eternally outclassed by other, better blue lance units.

  • With her high Speed and Attack, she has the option to use a "Quad" build through Brave Lance+ coupled with Life and Death / Swift Sparrow and Desperation / Hit and Run or even a Firesweep Lance+ build with similar skills.
  • Both builds are hyper offensive, thus not too many risks should be taken with Cordelia on Enemy Phase.
  • Outside of her disappointing art and weaker defensive stats, Cordelia has no real shortcomings.

Cordelia: Perfect Bride Icon Portrait Cordelia Perfect Bride.png Icon Class Colorless Bow.png

  • High offensive stats in the form of Attack and Speed make Cordelia an offensive juggernaut compared to other ifantry archers.
  • Pairs off extremely well with the Brave Bow+ and Life and Death to give her exceptional OHKO potential.
  • Due to the combination of the highest Attack among archers and high Spd, she is one of the best users of Firesweep Bow+ to hard counter units who rely on counterattacking (eg. Quick Riposte builds, Vantage builds, Distant Counter users, etc)
  • Her high offensive potential is only slightly marred by her very low defenses.

Corrin: Fateful Princess Icon Portrait Corrin Fateful Princess.png Icon Class Blue Breath.png

  • Set wise, she's surprisingly flexible, making use out of Steady/Warding Breath, Bonfire and Quick Riposte in order to give her an especially strong enemy phase. A combination of the Quick Riposte seal and Guard makes her especially effective against units with strong specials, such as Quicken Pulse units or Zelgius and Ayra.
  • Alternatively, Fury gives her a good mix of player and enemy phase ability while Windsweep essentially gives her a pseudo sweep effect.
  • Even with the adaptive damage from LightningBreath+, her low Attack will sometimes let her struggle against bulky enemies. She is particularly reliant on buffs to get the most out of her.

  • Her Divine Naga grants her greater usability against buffed units, making her great for taking on bladetome users and mounted mage units. She also makes excellent use out of ploys, for that sweet ranged Speed debuff.
  • Deidre suffers from the typical mage tank weaknesses; her terrible Speed and slightly below average maker her extremely vulnerable to physical units, and she struggles against green dragons despite having effective damage against.

Delthea: Free Spirit Icon Portrait Delthea Free Spirit.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Delthea's got great attack, good speed and high Resistance. In other words, she's a strong offensive unit with the ability to tank Res hits when needed.
  • She functions well as a blue nuke with Blárblade+ or as a hard-hitting melee buff support with her legendary tome Dark Aura granting Atk+6 to melee allies and +4 to an additional stat with a Hone C-passive.
  • Similar to Linde, she is extremely fragile to physical attackers with a neutral physical bulk of 33 HP and 13 Def. Her Res is above average (31), increasing her already potent ability to duel with other mages, but she struggles mightily against dragon units due to their adaptive damage.

Donnel: Village Hero Icon Portrait Donnel Village Hero.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Infantry.png

  • Impressive Attack with above average Defense and HP make Donnel a decent frontline lance unit.
  • Donnel can be outfitted with a Brave Lance, Death Blow and Hit and Run for an offensive build with safety, or a Slaying Lance build that utilizes Steady Breath and Quick Riposte for enemy phase dominance.
  • He has mediocre and poor Resistance, but more troublingly, he's simply outclassed by better lance units.

Dorcas: Serene Warrior Icon Portrait Dorcas Serene Warrior.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Dorcas is a powerhouse axe tank, with excellent HP, Attack and Defense stats in addition to have passable Resistance.
  • His Stout Tomahawk gives him coverage against ranged units and synergizes wonderfully with Steady Breath and Quicken Pulse; ranged units that can't OHKO him will invariably take lethal damage from Bonfire, making Dorcas a tricky unit to play around.
  • He's not too shabby as a front line unit either as physical attackers also risk getting OHKOed by Bonfire.
  • He's considerably easier to deal with on enemy phase, as he's too slow to double and can't immediately make use out of Bonfire if he's attacking you. He's also vulnerable to being OHKOed by powerful red mage units.

Draug: Gentle Giant Icon Portrait Draug Gentle Giant.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • Draug's top class Defense, serviceable Attack and surprisingly decent Speed make him a fairly solid tank.
  • Giving him Slaying Edge+, Steady Breath, Wrath and Distant counter makes the most out of his stats, turning him into a devastating enemy phase tank.
  • His very low Resistance puts him at risk to mages and dragon units.

Effie: Army of One Icon Portrait Effie Army of One.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • Effie's top class Attack, exceptional HP, and impressive Defense make her a gold standard for offensive armor units.
  • She has a high amount of flexibility, with sets range from the Mixed Tank build, which utilizes Distant Counter, Berkut's Lance and Wary Fighter in order to make her obnoxiously difficult to kill on player phase. Bold Fighter gives her incredibly offensive potential, granting her the ability to power through most units with relative ease.
  • Her weaknesses largely depend on what build she's running. Her poor Speed is exploitable, provided she isn't running Wary Fighter (and even Wary Fighter can be bypassed by Quick Riposte). The mixed tank is best dealt with on enemy phase, and bold fighter builds must be player phased.

Eirika: Restoration Lady Icon Portrait Eirika Restoration Lady.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • While her Attack leaves much to be desired, Eirika's respectable bulk, solid Speed and legendary weapon give her a great deale of usability.
  • With her legendary weapon Sieglinde, she holds a strong niche as a buff bot similar to her brother Ephraim. Her refinery pushes her the next level, essentially doubling the gains she receives from buffs and significantly improving her offensive and defensive capabilities in the process.
  • She works best with a Fury build, which noticeably improves her staying power and gives her a nice boost to her statline. She's well suited to using skills like Distant counter, Swordbreaker and Quick Riposte for general coverage, but she can also use Wrath for even more power. Rally assists and Hones also work well with her, synergizing with Sieglinde's Hone Attack effect.
  • While her refinery is easy to abuse, she's especially reliant on buffs in order to succeed. Without them, her lackluster offense makes it difficult for her to kill threats

Eldigan: Lionheart Icon Portrait Eldigan Lionheart.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • Eldigan's weapon refine furthers his statline boost, give him a titanic +6 to all stats at the cost of an excruciating -12HP per turn. It's us
  • His resistance (even after Fury and his weapon refine) is still abusable, and the obscene amount of damage Eldigan takes per engagement gives him incredibly poor poor sustain.

  • With her devastating legendary weapon and top class offensive stats, Elincia is an absolute terror on the battlefield.
  • Amiti really is as good as it seems; its high might and downright negligible downside give Elincia's offensive potential a major boost. She can immediately make use out of her base skillset, as Death Blow gives her the exact amount of fire power needed to annihilate most units in the game. She can also make excellent use out of the Slaying Edge or Firewsweep due to her fantastic offensive stat line.
  • Outside of her meager defenses, Elincia doesn't really have any notable flaws.

Elise: Budding Flower Icon Portrait Elise Budding Flower.png Icon Class Colorless Staff.png

S
  • Elise's mounted status and stat distribution put her a cut above all other healers; her Speed and Attack are just high enough to give her a passable offensive presence.
  • She has a ton of flexibility, being able to make use out of Pain builds for ridiculous AoE damage, Gravity builds to control enemy movement, or offensive builds for actual KO potential. Combat wise, Elise has it all.
  • Her defense is awful, and even her Resistance is somewhat meager when her poor HP is taken into account.

Elise: Tropical Flower Icon Portrait Elise Tropical Flower.png Icon Class Green Tome.png

  • Summer Elise has a great offensive statline, with Attack and Speed being more than usable, but comparatively weaker defensive stats.
  • She is your archetypical blade tome user, with skills like Fury 3 and Desperation being staple skill choices.
  • Her defensive stats make her vulnerable to both physical and magic attackers.

Eliwood: Knight of Lycia Icon Portrait Eliwood Knight of Lycia.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • Eliwood's offensive stats are just average, but his surprisingly impressive Resistance and a legendary weapon Durandal set him apart from your typical lords.
  • Eliwood has several options for builds, including an offensive-leaning Death Blow build (which stacks with Durandal), Defense Ploy build (which makes use of his high Res to debuff the enemy), or even a more defensive magic tank build.
  • As a melee unit, his low Def and only serviceable Spd means against other melee units (especially other speedy Red Swords), he often gets outdueled. Although his offensive stats aren’t bad, compared to other Red Swords, he is often outclassed.
  • On a cavalry team, he gets pushed up to S tier.

Ephraim: Restoration Lord Icon Portrait Ephraim Restoration Lord.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • Skill wise, Ephraim can use Death Blow and Quick Riposte to give him utility on both phases while hones and rallies further complement his supporting ability.
  • His low Speed and Resistance makes him incredibly vulnerable magic units, as he's easily killed by them.

  • Brave Lance is by far Est's best weapon choice, and her High Resistance means she can leverage Defense Ploy to great success, and her nonexistent mobility restrictions makes it easier to apply ploys in general. She's not just limited to Defense Ploy either, and can aid the team with Attack and Speed ploy as well.
  • Her low Speed and reliance Brave Lance gives a particularly poor enemy phase.

Fae: Divine Dragon Icon Portrait Fae Divine Dragon.png Icon Class Green Breath.png

  • Green dragon with solid all-around stats, most noticeably her HP, Attack, and Resistance.
  • Fae functions as an all-purpose tank, checking physical blue units and ranged units alike with Lightning Breath+.Steady Breath further reinforces her defense while increasing the speed at which she can retaliate with specials. It goes hand in hand with Quick Riposte which results in Fae having a particularly impressive enemy phase.
  • Her somewhat low base defense does still make her susceptible to physical attackers, especially Red Swords (especially Falchion users).

Faye: Devoted Heart Icon Portrait Faye Devoted Heart.png Icon Class Colorless Bow.png

  • Faye has decent Attack and good mixed defensive stats for an archer, making her a fairly decent ranged tank.
  • She can make use out of the Brave Bow+ for a typical, yet nonetheless competent ranged unit. Alternatively, she can leverage her defenses and opt for an Archer Tank, using the Guard Bow and skills like Distant Defense and Quick Riposte for maximum enemy phase tankiness.
  • Regardless of what set she opts for, she has the Res to run ploy skills.
  • Her offensive stats dull in comparison to other archers above her with much better offensive potential and she suffers from very poor Speed which means she tends to get doubled.

Felicia: Maid Mayhem Icon Portrait Felicia Maid Mayhem.png Icon Class Colorless Dagger.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • A dagger unit with exceptional Speed and Resistance, but abysmal Attack and Defense.
  • Felicia serves the role of a specialized anti-mage dagger. Most of her damage output will stem from Specials like Iceberg or Glacies.
  • Her signature weapon, Felicia's Plate, gives her adaptive damage and a cooldown reduction. While generally effective against units with specialized defensive stats, it's let down by Felicia's low Attack. Alternatively, Kitty Paddle gives her consistent effective damage against mage units.
  • She also makes great use of skills that rely on the Resistance stat, including Attack/Defense Ploy. Cancel Affinity helps her perform well against users of Triangle Adept Raven tomes.
  • Her weaknesses are her poor physical defense and very low Attack stat, which makes her trouble to KO enemies without the use of a special.
Fir: Sword Student Icon Portrait Fir Sword Student.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Fir has above average Resistance and exceptional Speed but lacking in the Attack and Defense department, which would have doomed her to obscurity were it not for her signature weapon, the Nameless Sword.
  • The Nameless Sword is her ace in the hole, giving her a built in cooldown reduction and +10 damage to specials effect, which are two of some of the best effects in the game.
  • This gives her considerably offensive power, as she can trash opponents on both offensive and enemy phase. Wrath outright grants her +20 damage on specials when active, and with Quickened Pulse she can essentially proc a special twice with Moonbow.
  • Her supporting abilities shouldn't be underestimated either, as her Resistance let's her freely run ploys of her choosing.
  • She's incredibly reliant on specials for damage; Guard enemies spell bad news for her, and she can be taken out by strong physical attacks.
Fjorm: Princess of Ice Icon Portrait Fjorm Princess of Ice.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • The Princess of Ice is decidedly well-rounded, possessing no stats below 30, but no non-HP stats above 35 either. While seemingly highly versatile due to her stats, Fjorm is a surprisingly inflexible unit.
  • Fortunately, Fjorm can be used to good use in the current metagame. She has an excellent matchup with mage units and can function as a good check to Red units. She also functions as a wonderful supporting unit with her blessings, bestowing HP and Speed buffs to units of your choice during the Water season.
  • While effective against the aforementioned unit types, she has a few key shortcomings. She struggles against Reinhardt without Deflect Magic, and is completely ineffective against Bow Lyn, mitigating her advantage against ranged units. She also struggles to certain kill Red sword units, and can even be outright defeated by some of them. Her blessings are also limited by season, making them inconsistent.
  • Overall, Fjorm is a unit with very clear strengths and weaknesses. With the right team set up, and proper use out of her powerful blessing, she can absolutely thrive in the current metagame, but this success requires careful consideration on the players part.

Florina: Lovely Flier Icon Portrait Florina Lovely Flier.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

Quick Riposte and Guard As a flier, she is also a good candidate for Defense Ploy which she can use to patch up her attack or as a team support debuff.

  • Despite her HP and Resistance bulk, her Speed still leaves something to be desired and will cause her to take many doubles from speedier enemies.

Frederick: Polite Knight Icon Portrait Frederick Polite Knight.png Icon Class Green Axe.png

  • He can essentially run the most typical Bow sets (eg. Brave Bow+ with Desperation, due to his naturally high Speed.
  • His defenses both physically and magically are a bit frail due to his lower HP pool, but his workable Resistance and high Speed does allow him to avoid doubles against other high Spd meta mages. Otherwise an unremarkable unit.

  • She can use the Gravity Staff for movement control or Pain and secondary damage skills to act as an annoyer.
  • Her mediocre Speed, her both offensively and defensively, as she will rarely get to double enemies, and will almost always die to melee units.

Gerome: Masked Rider Icon Portrait Gerome Masked Rider.png Icon Class Green Axe.png

  • Has a stat spread very similar to his mother, Cherche; incredibly strong and incredibly durable on the physical side.
  • Being incredibly similar to Cherche lends himself to similarly doing well with sets she excelled at. Namely, the Brave Axe+ set, in which he's able to target foes and do considerable damage.
  • While he is slightly bulkier than Cherche, his lack of access to a boon/bane makes him markedly weaker. He also shares her weaknesses (low Speed and Resistance)

Gordin: Altean Archer Icon Portrait Gordin Altean Archer.png Icon Class Colorless Bow.png

  • A physically defensive archer with average Attack, but below average Speed and atrocious Resistance.
  • Gordin works best with his Brave Bow+, and his high defense occasionally makes him a decent shield for physical attackers
  • Unfortunately, Gordin's Speed makes it easy for foes to double him, mitigating his high Defense, and his Resistance makes him an easy target for mage units.
  • Generally outdone by bow users with better Attack and Speed.

Gray: Wry Comrade Icon Portrait Gray Wry Comrade.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • Gray fits into the bulky Red Sword hero category, with impressive Attack and serviceable Speed, backed by above average physical defense.
  • Similar to units like Ogma and Chrom, he does great with Slaying Edge and Steady Breath, which gives him great power on enemy phase. His well rounded stats afford him a great deal of flexibility, meaning he can also run several builds (such as a Brave Sword build) depending on your preference
  • His Speed falls short of great and he faces competition from other Red swords with a better stat arrangement. His Resistance is also a weak point.

Gunnthrá: Voice of Dreams Icon Portrait Gunnthrá Voice of Dreams.png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A-
  • Gunnthra doesn't really impress from a stat perspective, and if that was all there was to her she'd be forever doomed to obscurity.
  • Fortunately her signature ability, Chilling Wind, is an absolute gamechanger. The debuff it provides is absolutely crippling, and Gunnthra doesn't need to be in range to activate it; as long as she's on the field and her HP is above 50%, her target will always suffer from the debuff.
  • Units that tend to be affected by her debuff are offensively oriented, such as Brave Lyn and Life and Death users, making it considerably easier to deal with them.
  • As a unit, Gunnthra is fairly decent; her weapon grants her extreme effectiveness to debuffed's targets, which pairs well with Chilling Wind. On the other hand, running a typical Blade tome will give her consistent damage against most units.

reason5=Her physical Defense is awful, which leaves her vulnerable to counter attacks from blue units she cannot OHKO, such as Nowi and Distant Counter Effie.

Gunter: Inveterate Soldier Icon Portrait Gunter Inveterate Soldier.png Icon Class Green Axe.png

  • She'd be a decent, but largely forgettable unit ordinarily, but Bold Fighter and the Slaying Lance gives her extremely good offense, which goes hand in hand with her terrific enemy phase.
  • Slow Speed is one, and compared to other blue lance armored units, she's generally overshadowed (though quite usable nonetheless due to again, Bold Fighter).

  • She has mediocre bulk in comparison to other similar Red Swords.

Hawkeye: Desert Guardian Icon Portrait Hawkeye Desert Guardian.png Icon Class Green Axe.png

  • Hector boasts exceptional Attack, Defense and HP, mediocre Spd and very low Res.
  • He has been a dominant force in the metagame since the very beginning, owing much to possessing the Distant Counter skill alongside Armads, which grants him a built-in Quick Riposte 2.
  • Vantage and Bonfire are commonly chosen options for his build. The synergy between these skills, Distant Counter and Armads guarantees that Hector deals large amounts of damage. Defense team Hector can also be equipped with Cancel Affinity to combat Ruby Sword Olivia and Raven / Triangle Adept using mages.
  • Hector is an absolute staple on Armor teams due to his stats, unique weapon and damage potential. Therefore, he safely secures the coveted S+ rank.

  • His weapon manages to match his incredible statline, with a built in cooldown reduction and Wrath Effect. This synergizes extremely well with Wrath itself, giving Hector +20 damage to all specials when Wrath is active, which is just nasty. With Quickened Pulse and Bonfire, Hector can crush nearly any enemy that engages him, potentially even foes who have a Weapon Type Advantage over him.
  • He's not just limited to being a dominant enemy phase tank either; Bold Fighter gives him a terrifying player phase presence as well.
  • As far as weaknesses go, Hector's below average Resistance and poor Speed are it, but these are typically superficial; struggle to engage him, and he has skills to work around his Speed.

Henry: Twisted Mind Icon Portrait Henry Twisted Mind.png Icon Class Red Tome.png

  • By running a defensive build with Candelabra+ or Raudrowl+, Close Counter, and Quick Riposte, he is able to tank a lot of targets when they're ployed
  • Using Guard and Atk Ploy further boosts his defensive potential, denying opponents their special abilities and further lowering their attack.
  • He can then rely on Bonfire to be able to take out units.

Henry: Happy Vampire Icon Portrait Henry Happy Vampire.png Icon Class Green Tome.png

  • As a unit, Happy Vampire Henry is as unusual as it gets. He's an armored mage unit below average Defense (for an Armored unit) but extremely high Resistance, impressive Speed and good Attack.
  • Henry can be played any number of ways, utilizing the Gronnraven+ for coverage against Grey and Blue units, Gronnblade+ for nuking ability. His viable skills range from defensive skills such as Quick Riposte and Distant to more offensive skills like Swift Sparrow and Desperation. The choice of skill is entirely dependant on the build.
  • As far as weaknesses go, typical armored unit movement penalty applies, and his sketchy physical defense leaves him vulnerable to physical attackers.
  • On a armor synergistic team, he is S+ tier.

Hinata: Wild Samurai Icon Portrait Hinata Wild Samurai.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • Can run the same build as Eldigan with Slaying Edge+, Bonfire/Ignis, Distant Counter/Fury, Quick Riposte. His lack of movement compared to Eldigan, however, is a huge bane against Hinata.
  • The abundance of Red Swords also contribute to Hinata’s lower tier due to the sheer amount of competition above him.
  • Additionally in the current meta, there is little need for a low Res, low Spd infantry melee.

  • Can run the same Brave Lance+ and Firesweep Lance+ sets as the other 35 Attack Lance Fliers; however, is generally outclassed by Cordelia in both these sets.
  • Hinoka falls behind Est due to her inability to run Defense Ploy which not only increases Est’s offensive potential, but can also be used as a debuff support skill for the rest of her team. Regardless, she's more than capable as a unit.
  • On a flier team, Hinoka rises to S tier.

Hinoka: Blue Sky Warrior Icon Portrait Hinoka Blue Sky Warrior.png Icon Class Colorless Bow.png
Icon Move Flying.png
S-
  • The Blue Sky Warrior manages to impress with her solid offensive statline of 32/35, good Resistance, and flight mobility.
  • Warrior princess is an interesting weapon, with effective damage against armored units letting her pierce through some of the metagame's sturdier threats. Unfortunately, the sheer sturdiness of most armors prevents her from reliably OHKOing them, and these units tend to have little trouble OHKOing Hinoka in return.
  • Fortunately, Hinoka the Firesweep Bow is the perfect weapon for Hinoka, giving her ample opportunity to dish out damage from multiple ranges due to her flight mobility, without fearing the counterattack. The Firesweep Bow set naturally makes great use out of Swift Sparrow, but Hinoka's good Resistance stat makes her effective at using ploys as well; of the ones available in the game, Speed ploy and Def Ploy stand out the most.
  • Hinoka's physical defense is atrocious, and her Attack isn't high enough to bust through armored units with Warrior Princess without significant buff stacking.

  • Ragnell's built-in Distant Counter effect gives him coverage against ranged units, specifically Green tome users.
  • Fury and Vantage / Quick Riposte reinforce his tanking ability, allowing him to take hits and dish them back out. He can also make use out of Triangle Adept in order to better counter green mages.
  • Ike's Resistance is abysmal, and his Speed is somewhat lacking for a red sword unit. That said, this is of little concern in practice, since he will usually perform his given duties without too much trouble.

Ike: Brave Mercenary Icon Portrait Ike Brave Mercenary.png Icon Class Green Axe.png

  • With his exceptional Attack and Defense, coupled with Urvan's damage reduction capabilities, Brave Ike is a metagame defining threat.
  • Steady Breath in conjunction with Urvan makes Ike absolutely amazing at dueling melee heroes, as it grants him 4 defense when initiated on as well as doubling his special charge gain. In conjunction with Specials like Bonfire, Ignis and Aether, Ike can deal devastating damage even on his first counter attack due to Urvan's cooldown reduction. Quick Riposte makes this combination even deadlier. In fact, he is notable for his ability to defeat even Red Sword units that challenge him on enemy phase, a feat that cannot be matched by most units.
  • Beorc's Blessing allows Ike to ignore bonuses on cavalry and fliers, which makes him an excellent check to oppressive cavalry style teams.
  • With his low Speed and poor Resistance, Ike dies relatively easily Red mages. Green blade mages will kill Ike with relative ease as well due to his low Resistance, should he opt for Quick Riposte over Beorc's Blessing.

Ike: Vanguard Legend Icon Portrait Ike Vanguard Legend.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png

  • Ike functions similarly to his standard counterpart, but with a superior stat spread. His stats make him a solid physical tank, with Ragnell giving him coverage against ranged units and a signature special that makes him a powerful enemy phase unit.
  • Warding Breath mitigates Ike's comparatively weaker Resistance stat, improving his matchups against mage- and dragon units. It pairs extremely well with his Radiant Aether, allowing Ike to unleash it on enemy phase, provided he can attack twice.
  • Ike works well with Quick Riposte (which has terrific synergy with Radiant Aether) and Wrath (which gives his specials a lot more oompth). He can also make use out of Steady Breath and reinforce his already stellar Defense stat.
  • His low Speed and Resistance are his shortcomings. Even with Warding Breath, Ike will struggle to tank heavier magical attacks.

  • Gronnraven+ and Triangle Adept give him immense coverage, giving him the ability to counter both Reinhardt and Brave Lyn. In cases where his defensive utility is not needed (or the opponent is using Cancel Affinity), he can act as a supporting dancer unit to double your team's offense, or aid in moving units out of enemy range.
  • His stats are on the whole rather unimpressive, but they're just enough to let him get by as a top notch anti-metagame pick.

Innes: Regal Strategician Icon Portrait Innes Regal Strategician.png Icon Class Colorless Bow.png

  • Innes's offensive statline of 33/34 makes him a top class archer, as he's capable of dishing quite a bit of damage. His impressive Resistance makes him difficult to KO with magic attacks as well.
  • As per usual, he makes excellent use out of the Brave Bow+ build. With a statline nearly comparable to Bride Cordelia, he can absolutely terrorize the battlefield. He can also make good use out of Nidhogg, though it's primarily the budget option.
  • Outside of bottom class Defense and slight inferiority to Bride Cordelia, Innes doesn't really have any notable flaws.

Ishtar: Thunder Goddess Icon Portrait Ishtar Thunder Goddess.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png

  • Mjolnir gives her 6 more Speed and a cooldown reduction for specials. Although it's ultimately not as powerful as a bladetome, it's more flexible, giving Ishtar an easier time doubling extremely fast units.
  • Skills that boost her offensive stat lines are a must, making Fury, Life and Death and Swift Sparrow the goto for her A-slot. Desperation is an easy fit, letting her bypass counterattacks altogether, which is particularly crucial in some of her harder matchups.
  • Ishtar is a powerful unit, but she's not flawless. She struggles to break through blue Res tanks like Effie and Fjorm, and has a poor matchup against Nowi.

  • With the introduction of Defense Ploy, Jagen's resistance drags him out of C-tier. With +Atk and Defense Ploy proc, he can have an effective Atk of 36, a solid enough Atk to run Brave Lance+. Defense Ploy also lets him act as a support for other teammates by debuffing enemies from afar.
  • As a cavalry unit, his increased movement means he has more flexibility to position for Defense Ploy and also to flank enemy units.
  • Highly appreciates the buffs given to him in a Cavalry team, bumping him up to A-tier. However, he is typically outshined by the similar but faster Mathilda.

Jakob: Devoted Servant Icon Portrait Jakob Devoted Servant.png Icon Class Colorless Dagger.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B-
  • Jakob's stats don't really impress, as he has below average Attack, serviceable Speed and mediocre defenses.
  • Still, he can get the job done with a Poison Dagger build, though he's worse at it than the dagger units that are above him.

Jakob: Devoted Monster Icon Portrait Jakob Devoted Monster.png Icon Class Colorless Bow.png
Icon Move Armored.png
S+
  • As an armored bow unit, Jakob brings a couple of neat things to the table. He has great Attack, Defense and Resistance stats at the cost of poor Speed and mobility.
  • Jakob works best with Close Counter, which grants him crucial coverage against both melee fighters. The Slaying Bow is his ideal weapon, as it consistently gives his attacks more of a punch due to the quicker uptime on specials. That said, he isn't limited to using just the Slaying Bow, and his excellent defenses make him great at using ploys as well.
  • Jakob's low movement is his greatest downfall, and his low Speed makes him reliant on specials.
  • On teams revolving around armor synergistic buffs, he is S+ tier.

Jeorge: Perfect Shot Icon Portrait Jeorge Perfect Shot.png Icon Class Colorless Bow.png

  • With serviceable offensive stats (32/32), Jeorge functions as a reliable Brave Bow user.
  • Brave Bow+ significantly improves his offense, giving him impressive ORKO ability.
  • His enemy phase is poor and his stat arrangement makes him worse than a couple of other archers who perform his exact niche.

Joshua: Tempest King Icon Portrait Joshua Tempest King.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • Good offenses and surprisingly sturdy defensive stats make Joshua into an overly well-rounded unit, but in a good way.
  • Audhulma is a solid personal weapon, and when paired with tools such as Distant Counter, Quick Riposte and a Distant Defense seal, Joshua can function as a terrific check to mage units. He isn't too shabby as a duelist either, and can make great use out of Defense Ploy to soften up opposing enemies.
  • Due to his well-rounded nature, Joshua is lacking in terms of direct shortcomings. That said, he's slightly outmatched by better optimized red sword units, such as Mia and Ayra.

Julia: Naga's Blood Icon Portrait Julia Nagas Blood.png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • As a Green mage, Julia functions as a magical tank, sporting impressive Attack and Resistance, which is further boosted by Naga's passive ability. Naga also gives Julia dragon slaying functionality.
  • Fury gives a tremendous boost to Julia's statline, making her deceptively difficult to kill. She makes excellent use out of Green Tomebreaker, a skill that allows her to serve as an excellent check to opposing Green mage units.
  • Her Speed and low defense are her weak points. That said, with proper positioning, Julia should be a difficult unit for opponents to kill.

Julius: Scion of Darkness Icon Portrait Julius Scion of Darkness.png Icon Class Red Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • Julius is a strange, and lopsided unit with great Attack and substantial Resistance, but critically low Defense and subpar Speed.
  • Loptuous is an interesting weapon, granting Julius a weakness to dragonslayer weapons, but in exchange, reducing the opponent's damage by 6 during combat. There are some interesting applications here (such as letting him power through Reinhardt of all characters), but it falls short of spectacular due to Julius's defense.
  • He benefits from Distant Defense and Quick Riposte, which further shores up his meager physically Defense and gives him a stronger enemy phase respectively.
  • Overall, his critically low physical Defense stat, and utterly wasted Speed hold him back greatly.

Kagero: Honorable Ninja Icon Portrait Kagero Honorable Ninja.png Icon Class Colorless Dagger.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • Sporting the highest Atk out of the dagger units and respectable Speed, Kagero finds a niche as an infantry hero killer with Poison Dagger+.
  • With the increasing rise of non-infantry units and teams (Cavalry, Fliers, Armored units), Kagero's nuke ability has fallen off in the meta.
  • With a low HP pool, Kagero is also quite fragile with a neutral effective HP of 53 Def and 59 and Res.

Karel: Sword Demon Icon Portrait Karel Sword Demon.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Karel fits into the typical swift Red Sword archetype, having impressive Speed and serviceable Attack.
  • His serviceable attack gets bumped up to extremely powerful by utilizing Nameless Blade's combined Wo Dao+ and Slaying Edge effect
  • Utilizing his high HP and mixed defenses, he is more than capable of tanking one hit. Then, utilizing Distant Counter, Wrath, and Moonbow or Reprisal, he can then instantly slay most enemies attacking him
  • He then has the speed to usually prevent himself from getting doubled, and against slower and bulkier targets double them back if the first hit wasn't enough to secure the kill.
  • Wrath will let him always have his special up during the player phase, increasing his player phase burst potential.
Kana: Dragon Princess Icon Portrait Kana Dragon Princess.png Icon Class Green Breath.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S-
  • Kana is a capable dragon unit, with a well-rounded stat spread that fortunately doesn't let her down.
  • LightningBreath+ is the goto for most Dragon units and Kana isn't really an exception; with Steady Breath, Quick Riposte and a special of your choice, she functions similarly to Female Corrin as a fast enemy phase specialist.
  • Her default kit should suffice as well, with Waterbreath and Fierce Stance giving her a balanced enemy phase build that's particularly effective against melee units. Goad Dragons naturally makes her well suited to Dragon spam teams as well.
  • Relative to Fae, Kana has greater Speed and Defense, but lower HP, Attack and Resistance. Kana's greater Speed lets her avoid getting doubled by faster units, which, when coupled with her higher Defense stat makes her much better at taking on physical attackers. That said, her higher Speed is less essential in practice, due to a scarcity of fast blue units in the metagame. Overall, they're relatively on par with each other.
  • Her Resistance is a bit of a weak point, and she's reliant on buffs to make the most out of her due to her well-rounded nature.
Kana: Dragon Spawn Icon Portrait Kana Dragon Spawn.png Icon Class Blue Breath.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S-
  • Male Kana is also a capable unit, with a well-rounded statline that gives him a fair amount of flexibility as a unit, with a few caveats.
  • As a unit, Kana performs almost identically as his mother, Corrin, using LightningBreath+ to grant him important coverage against ranged units, and making use out of skills like Steady Breath and Quick Riposte further reinforce his solid enemy phase. Alternatively, Guard and the Quick Riposte seal may be used to hamper powerful offensive units.
  • Kana's base kit can be put to great use as well, with Brazen Def/Res 3 and Waterbreath giving him an especially strong enemy phase against melee units, while Fortify Dragon makes him particularly capable on Dragon teams.
  • His stats are overly well-rounded, making reliant on buffs to excel. His inability to have boons limits his overall potential as a unit as well.

Katarina: Wayward One Icon Portrait Katarina Wayward One.png Icon Class Red Tome.png

  • Katarina has solid offensive stats and an impressive Resistance stat, making her an ideal Red mage.
  • She makes excellent use out of the Rauðrblade+, and with it, the ability to inflict considerable damage after receiving buffs.
  • Outside of her awful defense, she's not really lacking as a unit.

Kaze: Easygoing Ninja Icon Portrait Kaze Easygoing Ninja.png Icon Class Colorless Dagger.png

  • With decent Attack, great Speed and Resistance stats, Kaze functions as a solid mage killer.
  • The Kitty Paddle provides incredibly important effective damage against mage unit, though Kaze can put the Barb Shuriken to good use, giving him general coverage against most units.
  • Kaze's physical defense is atrocious and his matchup against dragon units is terrible. His poor HP also mitigates his stellar Resistance stat as well.

Klein: Silver Nobleman Icon Portrait Klein Silver Nobleman.png Icon Class Colorless Bow.png

  • Klein boasts well-rounded offensive stats, although his Attack is slightly lower compared to Takumi and Jeorge.
  • Regardless, he functions wonderfully with his default kit, enabling him to ORKO huge portions of the metagame.
  • Similar to Jeorge, his enemy phase is poor and his stat arrangement makes him worse than other archers who perform his exact niche.

L'Arachel: Princess of Light Icon Portrait LArachel Princess of Light.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png

A-
  • The beautiful princess of peerless beauty comes across as a fairly typical Cavalry unit... which is entirely the case. She has decent offensive stats and a fairly great Resistance stat, but nothing mindblowing.
  • Predictably she's a great blade tome user, leveraging her movement and offense to attack from multiple ranges. She can also stick with her default weapon for the helpful +3 boost to Attack and Speed (which pairs off well with Fury and Desperation).
  • Her physical Defense is really bad, which puts her at risk of physical attackers and also makes her struggle against Dragon units.

Laslow: Dancing Duelist Icon Portrait Laslow Dancing Duelist.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • Laslow is a Red Sword with formidable Defense and HP, but lackluster Resistance and Speed.
  • With an Attack stat of 35, this makes him a solid Brave Sword+ candidate.
  • Unfortunately, with the introduction of Gray, Laslow ranks one tier lower than him due to Gray’s better Speed.

Legion: Masked Maniac Icon Portrait Legion Masked Maniac.png Icon Class Green Axe.png

  • Legion is entirely focused on offense, with an impressive 36 Attack/35 Speed stat spread. His defenses are quite lacking in comparison, however.
  • Legion is built for making use out of Brave Axe+ builds, with skills like Death Blow giving him the ability to cut down opponents of all kinds.
  • His terrible defenses result in him having a terrible enemy phase.
  • He can't have beneficial IVs, though that doesn't really preclude him from succeeding as a unit.

Leif: Prince of Leonster Icon Portrait Leif Prince of Leonster.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S-
  • Leif's statline is nothing short of fantastic for an infantry sword unit, with terrific Speed and good Attack giving him solid offense, in addition to having respectable Defense.
  • His statline gives him plenty of flexibility, but by far his most notable aspect as a unit is his signature skill, S drink. S-drink lowers his special charge by one, and it stacks with Quicken pulse and Slaying Edge; this allows him to make terrific use out of powerful specials immediately, such as Luna.
  • His mediocre Resistance is exploitable.

Leo: Sorcerous Prince Icon Portrait Leo Sorcerous Prince.png Icon Class Red Tome.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A+
  • The Sorcerous Prince has an unfortunate stat spread, with below average Attack and an abysmal Speed stat.
  • The Rauðrblade+ is his goto offensive weapon, as it mitigates his lackluster offense. Paired with a breaker skill, Leo ends up having surprisingly good coverage against most of the metagame.
  • Quick Riposte gives him great defensive coverage, as he can leverage the significant boost from his blade tome to deal great damage to ranged units.
  • The refinement pushes Leo as a ranged counter unit, giving him near immunity to doubles from ranged units, allowing him to serve as a good general check to them.
  • Unfortunately, Leo's mediocre attack, paired with the general high magical bulk mages tend to have can cause him to have problems securing kills against them. Physical ranged units can also power through him as well.
Leo: Seashore's Prince Icon Portrait Leo Seashores Prince.png Icon Class Red Tome.png

  • Sporting average attack, impressive resistance, and with the use of Quick Riposte, Leo makes a great enemy phase mage duelist.
  • Lack of good player phase due to below average speed hinders Leo greatly. His average attack also means he won’t one-shot much.
  • His awful defense means he does poorly against physical Distant Counter users.

Leon: True of Heart Icon Portrait Leon True of Heart.png Icon Class Colorless Bow.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Has 34 attack, the second highest bow user attack in the game, serviceable 30 Speed, above average Defense and HP, with awful Res.
  • His second highest attack for a bow user makes him an instant candidate for Brave Bow+. His lower Speed does affect his matchups though, but he still performs nearly identical to other A+ bow users.
  • His high defense also helps him tank counterattack hits from Distant Counter threats. His Res does leave something to be desired, but with Brave Bow+, he should typically be able to take out mage threats first with the exception of -raven users unless if he has Cancel Affinity.

Lene: Yearning Dancer Icon Portrait Lene Yearning Dancer.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • As a dancer unit, Lene's statline is more or less what you'd expect; weak all around, with solid Speed stat that gives her workable offensive utility.
  • The Ruby Sword should let her contribute somewhat reliably when it comes to dealing with Green units, though she can opt for a weapon that gives refine bonuses to improve her statline.
  • Skillwise, it's hard to go wrong with dancer staples like Triangle Adept and Wings of Mercy, though Firestorm Dance has its appeal as well.
  • Her Attack is mediocre (though she's not particularly reliant on it) and her defenses are lacking. The bigger problem is that she doesn't dance for gross men… which means most of our readers are out of luck!

Lilina: Delightful Noble Icon Portrait Lilina Delightful Noble.png Icon Class Red Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S-
  • Armed with Forblaze, Lilina fulfills her destiny as an extremely powerful one hit wonder.
  • Forblaze allows Lilina to forgoe Raudrblade by having the same attack as a +4/+4 buff, while being more resilient towards Panic Ploy and offering support with the Chill Res effect of Forblaze.
  • The Deathblow effect, stacked with the skill and Lilina's high attack allows Lilina to OHKO every green and many red threats, and those that are res tanks get hit by the Chill Res effect of Forblaze
  • Because of Lilina's propensity to just kill units in one hit, her B slot is super open for other support skills like Chill Spd or whatver other skills you want her to have
  • Lilina also has solid resistance and semidecent speed, allowing her to tank magic if she has to.
Lilina: Blush of Youth Icon Portrait Lilina Blush of Youth.png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A-
  • Lilina is a strong a unit due to her great Attack, but her other stats aren't particularly noteworthy.
  • Set wise, she has a few options at her disposal, such as a blade tome build or a gronnraven build, utilizing skills that benefit each of those such as Fury and Triangle Adept respectively.
  • Her mediocre defensive stats and Speed don't make her a particularly difficult unit to kill.

Linde: Light Mage Icon Portrait Linde Light Mage.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • With her highly optimized stat spread, Linde is a terrifying unit to face in combat. Her high Attack and exceptional Speed allow her to run circles around most of the metagame, and her Resistance is good enough to make her a good check against opposing mages.
  • Blárblade+ supercharges her offense, effectively allowing Linde to obliterate all but the sturdiest of units after receiving buffs.
  • Her Defense is worst in class, though killing her is deceptively difficult as doubling her is nearly impossible.

Lissa: Sprightly Cleric Icon Portrait Lissa Sprightly Cleric.png Icon Class Colorless Staff.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • Lissa suffers from a mediocre stat arrangement; her Resistance and Defense are good, but they're undermined by her poor Speed.
  • As a healer, there is little to no reason to use her over other healers.
  • Her low Speed makes it very easy to kill her.

Lissa: Pure Joy Icon Portrait Lissa Pure Joy.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Armored.png
S
  • Lissa's an extremely balanced stat spread with no major shortcomings, but she doesn't really dominate in any particular stat either.
  • Fortunately, her stats are just high enough to the point where they can be abused and she makes particularly good use out of Bold Fighter and Death Blow.
  • On the enemy phase side of things, she can predictably make good use out of Vengeful Fighter and Wrath to mercilessly take down foes that engage her.
  • Her Speed is low enough for most Red units to run circles around her, though they need to be wary of Bold and Vengeful Fighter respective, which can complicate the matchup. Ranged units don't face too much difficulty against her.

Lloyd: White Wolf Icon Portrait Lloyd White Wolf.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • Lloyd is yet another Speedy Red sword unit with serviceable Attack, though his Resistance is impressive.
  • His lack of IVs limits his offensive potential somewhat, but his signature weapon makes up for this, as it is powerful and effectively gives him 34/37 offensive stats.
  • His Defense is very low, and he still has to compete for the highly contested Red Sword position.
  • Regal Blade's refine offers him additional stats, but requires specific team building and is otherwise still fairly lackluster.

Lon'qu: Solitary Blade Icon Portrait Lonqu Solitary Blade.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • Lon'qu epitomizes the concept of swift sword user, as his top class Speed of 39 puts him at the very top of the Speed bracket, and while his Attack is slightly below average, it's more than serviceable in practice.
  • The reason for this is because of the Wo Dao+; it makes up for his Attack with its significant damage boost, and Lon'qu's Speed ensures he can charge specials quickly.
  • He's rather frail, though his Speed prevents him from being doubled, giving him some degree of sturdiness.

Lucina: Future Witness Icon Portrait Lucina Future Witness.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S-
  • Lucina sets the standard for red Sword units, as her Speed is exceptional, and she has the Attack to back it up along with decent physical Defense.
  • Lucina has a number of options at her disposal such as Fury and Swordbreaker, making her an excellent duelist and essentially allowing her to cover Green and Red sword units by herself. With Falchion, Renewal and Reciprocal Aid, she can turn into an off-healer, perfect for sustain in chain modes without sacrificing a spot for a healer.
  • Her Resistance is a bit on the low side, though her Speed typically prevent her from being doubled by mage units.
  • Lucina's refine allows her an additional option in having a powerful enemy phase by having the quad bond effect. This turns her into an effective mixed phase unit, able to be a fairly good tank while also having the speed and attack to initiate successfully when required.

Lucina: Brave Princess Icon Portrait Lucina Brave Princess.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Just like Sword Lucina, she has exceptional speed with attack to back it up with decent physical defense. Her physical defense is heightened even further due to her unique lance.
  • Lucina is an excellent melee duelist, particularly against red and lance units. Running Fury allows her to reach 42 Speed for excellent bulk, but she still needs Lancebreaker to double fast Firesweep Lance users. Her personal weapon Geirskögul provides physical allies within 2 range +3 Attack and Speed in combat, which synergizes sensationally well with her innate C slot skill Drive Speed and increases their combat prowess and bulk significantly.
  • Her Resistance is a bit on the low side, though her Speed typically prevent her from being doubled by mage units.

Lucina: Spring Exalt Icon Portrait Lucina Spring Exalt.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • Spring Lucina is an exclusive speedy blue mage with below average Attack and meager defenses.
  • Her Attack is more than usable in practice however, due to Blárblade+ tome and Fury, which significantly improve her offensive potential.
  • Outside of suffering from standard mage weaknesses, she faces heavy competition from Linde, who has a superior stat spread.

Lucius: The Light Icon Portrait Lucius The Light.png Icon Class Colorless Staff.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Lucius has a rather typical healer stat spread; he's exceptional as far Resistance is concerned, has serviceable Attack and Speed, but his Defense is terrible (the worst in the game, in fact).
  • While generally outclassed by healers with better stat arrangements, Lucius can still make use out of Wrathful Staff to increase his offense.
  • Unfortunately, his bottom class Defense and inability to stand out from other, better healers relegates him to B tier.

Lute: Prodigy Icon Portrait Lute Prodigy.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Lute is yet another mage with excellent Attack and Resistance stats that are complemented with adequate Speed.
  • Her personal tome helps her stand out a little, as +3 Speed boost and built in Speed Ploy are definitely worthwhile. Sadly, the Weirding Tome still falls short of the typical bladetome build in terms of overall effectiveness.
  • The blade tome build operates with the usual suspects; Fury/Swift Sparrow, Desperation and a ploy or buff of your choice.
  • She suffers from weaknesses typical to glass cannon mage units; melee attacks hurts a lot, and overall she's slightly outdone by better blue mage units.

Lukas: Sharp Soldier Icon Portrait Lukas Sharp Soldier.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • Lukas is an absolute tank, with an impressive Attack stat of 35 and an exceptional Defense stat of 38.
  • Quick Riposte is a must for him on an enemy phase build, as it allows him to tear through physical attackers. He thrashes Red units and has a good matchup against most blue physical attackers. Another option is to build him like a bulkier Donnel, geared for player phase with a Brave Lance.
  • While Lukas performs well against physical attackers, Lukas struggles mightily against magical attackers. His low Resistance means he takes extreme damage, and unlike faster tanks he can't avoid being doubled and KO'd.

Luke: Rowdy Squire Icon Portrait Luke Rowdy Squire.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • On cavalry based teams, Luke rises to S tier.

Lyn: Lady of the Plains Icon Portrait Lyn Lady of the Plains.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • Lyn is a Red Sword boasting below average Attack, average Defense, Resistance and HP, but with an exceptional Spd stat of 37.
  • Her legendary weapon Sol Katti patches up her Atk stat somewhat, but what really shines is Sol Katti’s built-in Desperation.
  • Using her Spd tankiness, she can easily safely get to under 50% HP to proc her weapon’s effect. Combined with Brash Assault, she becomes a pseudo-Brave user while under 50% HP.
  • As mentioned, her Attack stat is below average so she's reliant on the +Atk boon.

Lyn: Brave Lady Icon Portrait Lyn Brave Lady.png Icon Class Colorless Bow.png

  • Brave Lyn's offensive stat line of 33/35 combined with cavalry movement and bow range make her a highly oppressive metagame threat.
  • She can run multiple builds ranging from her unique bow Mulagir, Brave bow, and Firesweep Bow. All builds are potent in their own manner from Mulagir ignoring bonuses on tome users and high weapon might, having doubles and quads that can't be countered by physical melee enemies when combined with her unique B skill Sacae's Blessing, and having the Speed to use Firesweep Bow allowing her to negate counterattacks by all units including Dragons and Mages that her B skill does not cover.
  • Her above average Resistance allows her easily survive magical counterattacks and opens up build options including Atk and Def Ploy.
  • On a Cavalry centered team, Lyn is undoubtedly S+ tier and a massive presence that should be prepared against during team building.

Lyn: Bride of the Plains Icon Portrait Lyn Bride of the Plains.png Icon Class Colorless Staff.png

A+
  • Lyn is a fast healer, with a below average Attack stat and mediocre defenses.
  • Lyn functions as a dedicated healer, providing Attack support when necessary. She makes for a decent candidate for Wrathful Staff, and more importantly, her impressive Speed makes it difficult for opponents to double her, somewhat mitigating her low durability.
  • The skill limitations on healers and limits what she can do offensively.

Lyn: Wind's Embrace Icon Portrait Lyn Winds Embrace.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png

  • She's got notably great Speed and Resistance, with good Attack and decent physical defense to back it up.
  • Offensive builds that utilize a bladetome alongside skills like Swift Sparrow and Fury worth best with her. She can also leverage her defenses with an owl tome build and close combat, giving her a strong enemy phase.
  • She's weaker on the physical defense side of things, but not to a significant degree; her Speed makes it challenging for physical attackers to double her.

Lyn: Lady of the Wind Icon Portrait Lyn Lady of the Wind.png Icon Class Green Bow.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • Legendary Hero Lyn darts onto the battlefield with competent offensive stats, decent Resistance and two signature skills.
  • Swift Mulagir grants her a hefty boost to Attack and Speed, provided the number of allies near her exceeds the number of allies near her foe. To put it simply, it's a weapon that rewards aggressive turtling with your entire party, instead of on relying on 1-2 characters to deal with specific threats. Its effects are strong, but not consistent enough to be dominant.
  • Law of Sacae is a strictly enemy phase focus skill with a far more lenient activation requirement in comparison to Swift Mulagir. Unfortunately, it's a skill for a highly contested skill slot, and it's generally outmatched by other skills, such as Swift Sparrow, Death Blow and Fury.
  • Lyn works best by foregoing her default entirely and opting for specialized builds, such as a Firesweep Bow or Brave Bow build.
  • While seemingly promising, Lyn suffers from several key weaknesses that hold her back. Her default kit ultimately fails to shine in the current metagame, as the strict requirements on Swift Mulagir make it unwieldy, and Law of Sacae being a strictly enemy phase skill doesn't quite work with Lyn's offensive stat spread. She's also in an unfortunate color, which causes her to struggle against common blue tanks (Effie, Fjorm) and blue dragons (Nowi, Corrin).

  • While her Speed is good, it's not enough to avoid getting doubled by the fastest units, which when compounded with her awful Def makes her really weak to physical Attacks. She can mitigate this with Life and Death, though this comes at the cost of slightly compromised Resistance.

  • Wrathful Staff can give her actual offense, but don't expect her to do a lot of damage.
  • She doesn't really stand out as a healer, but she can be put to decent use as a somewhat speedy support healer, similar to Lyn.

Marisa: Crimson Flash Icon Portrait Marisa Crimson Flash.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • Marisa has average offensive stats for a red sword unit with a strong emphasis on physical defense; she's actually quite durable.
  • While high investment, the Slaying Edge+, Distant Counter, Wrath and Glimmer set up make her a fearsome infantry unit with terrific coverage against green units and the ability to threaten physical tanks.
  • On the other hand, she's more than capable of contributing with just her default kit (+Quick Riposte). Regardless of what set you opt for, her naturally high HP makes her well suited to using Infantry Pulse.
  • Her Attack stat is middling, and an inability to have boons limits her overall potential.

  • While his combat is otherwise lackluster, with only decent attack and speed, his supporting abilities allows him to lean on his allies for off color matchups and focus on those he has triangle advantage against

Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Micaiah boasts impressive Attack and Resistance, in addition to being equipped with her powerful tome Thani, giving her a unique place in the metagame.
  • Thani makes her a solid armor buster, which is particularly valuable in a metagame dominated by armor units. Her effective damage against cavalry lets her one-shot down most cavalry units without fear of retaliation.
  • Micaiah can be built any number of ways, with offensively minded variants utilizing Death Blow for an easier time at OHKOing targets and defensively minded variants relying on Distant Defense to improve her staying power.
  • Micaiah's Speed and Defense are her biggest shortcomings. Her Speed makes it impossible to double enemies and puts her at risk of being doubled herself (which makes her reliant on breakers and Quick Riposte). Her atrocious Defense makes it easy for physical attackers to pick her off, and causes her to struggle against Dragon units.

Michalis: Ambitious King Icon Portrait Michalis Ambitious King.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Flying.png
A
  • A bulky flier with impressive attack, HP and defense, but mediocre speed and very low Res. His playstyle and stat line is most similar to Beruka.
  • His defensive bulk and Hauteclere makes him a great user of Quick Riposte and Bonfire / Ignis enemy phase build.
  • His higher attack and legendary weapon Hauteclere give him slightly more player phase potential; however, his low speed and lack of IV potential hurt him.
  • On a flier team, he achieves A tier.

Minerva: Red Dragoon Icon Portrait Minerva Red Dragoon.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Flying.png
A+
  • Minerva has well-rounded stats with an emphasis on physical defense. Hauteclere makes up for average Attack and significantly boosts her offense by making her specials activate quicker.
  • Minerva's stats and Hauteclere afford her great flexibility in her build. Her default Life and Death makes her offense even more potent, and her naturally high defense means she still has decent physical defense after the defense drop. Fury is also a solid alternative on her to give her an all-around boost to her stat line.
  • Minerva's high Def and impressive Spd allows her to tank and survive hits well. That along with her solid Atk makes her a solid user of Vantage. Like most fliers, Hit and Run can also be taken for a safer plan of attack.
  • Special-wise, she can decide to run lower cooldown specials like Luna and proc them more often for the damage boost, or aim for higher charge cooldowns like Galeforce, which works best in conjunction with Heavy Blade.
  • Her Resistance is her main drawback, a weakness that Life and Death exacerbates. Minerva actually risks being OHKOed by even neutral mages, so she should be wary around them.
  • Minerva benefits greatly from flier buffs, bumping her up to S+ tier.

Mist: Helpful Sister Icon Portrait Mist Helpful Sister.png Icon Class Colorless Staff.png

  • A typical healer with unimpressive stats. High Resistance, mediocre Speed and Attack and very low Defense.
  • There are a countless healers who outclass her due to her mediocre stat distribution. Regardless, your best bet at making use out of Mist would be equipping her Wrathful Staff.
  • However, healers have a baseline level of utility that Mist also is able to achieve.

Morgan: Lass from Afar Icon Portrait Morgan Lass from Afar.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Flying.png
A+
  • As the second Blue Tome Flier, she is comparable to Summer Corrin, with higher Attack and Resistance but lower Speed and Defense.
  • While Morgan(F) has better one shot potential and more magical durability, this isn't enough to push her over Summer Corrin who's higher speed lets her double more targets. That said, Morgan is more than capable as a blade tome unit, and giving her a breaker skill will give her more coverage.
  • Alternatively, a set that utilizes her default tome and triples down on her ranged defense with distant defense is more than viable.
  • Flier movement makes her about on par with the glass cannon Blue Tome Infantry

Morgan: Lad from Afar Icon Portrait Morgan Lad from Afar.png Icon Class Red Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • An infantry mage with competent stats in both Attack and Speed; compared to his peers, his measures up favorably.
  • A set utilizing Rauðrblade+ and Fury is ideal, giving him the ability to deal significant damage to most targets and more doubling potential.
  • Grima's Truth can provide good utility if used correctly, but Morgan's offense takes a huge hit, resulting in him struggling to KO targets.
  • His bulk is middling at best; any unit with 2 range that can survive his initial hit will likely one shot him in return.

Myrrh: Great Dragon Icon Portrait Myrrh Great Dragon.png Icon Class Green Breath.png
Icon Move Flying.png
S
  • As the first flying dragon, Myrrh is a powerful asset in Flier, Dragon, or Mixed emblem having great bulk, attack, and mobility
  • While she doesn't have access to Steady Breath or other Breath skills, she more than makes up for it with her outstanding legendary weapon Great Flame, which allows her to ignore her otherwise lackluster speed stat and full stop speedy threats
  • Because of Myrrh's otherwise great bulk and high defense, she essentially becomes a flying unit with Wary Fighter, and coupled with Quick Riposte she can easily dispatch of almost any enemy in the game on enemy phase as long as it doesn't deal effective damage to her. Though her Player Phase without OHKO is quite lackluster.
  • She can be made into an effective Flying bow counter with Distant Counter and Iote's Shield, or double down on her melee fighting prowess with Close Defense as her seal.
  • Of special note, she can also stop most Bold Fighter units by both meeting the defense threshold and then making the speed check to not naturally get doubled.
Nanna: Nordion Princess Icon Portrait Nanna Nordion Princess.png Icon Class Colorless Staff.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
S-
  • Nanna is introduced as being the highest speed horse healer in the game, though not by much
  • While her attack may be poor, she can utilize an offensively supportive build utilizing Pain, Savage Blow or a more support build with a buff and Gravity.
  • She is less capable of utilizing ploys, but has about the same bulk as the other weak horse healers of Clarine and Priscilla, serving as a kind of medium between them otherwise.
  • Because she is neither much worse nor better than the other two, she is tiered at the same level.

Narcian: Wyvern General Icon Portrait Narcian Wyvern General.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Flying.png
B+
  • Narcian is extremely well-rounded, which is unfortunate because it results in him being rather mediocre all-around as well. He can't even rely on IVs.
  • His stats means he fails to excel in any particular role compared to other flying axe users. Michalis and Beruka excel more as defensive tanks, Camilla's access to IVs and better stat line (namely Spd and Res) make her a better hybrid tank and anti-blue mage Emerald Axe/Distant Counter user over Narcian, and he does not have the power to compare to Cherche or Minerva.
  • On a flier emblem team, his performance places him in A- tier.

Icon Portrait Navarre Scarlet Sword.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png

  • With good speed and serviceable attack, Navarre is another speedy Red Sword to add to the pack.
  • Works best with a Wo Dao+ build.
  • Useable, but generally outclassed by other Red Sword units with better stat distribution with the same niche (eg. Athena).
  • The fact that he's locked to neutral IVs is a serious detriment as well.

Nephenee: Fierce Halberdier Icon Portrait Nephenee Fierce Halberdier.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Nephenee falls into the "blue lance unit with well-rounded stats" archetype, as her statline puts her around the same level as units like Sharena and Summer Robin.
  • That said, she is perhaps the best of these units due to her stat distribution; it notably allows her to function as a solid Steady Breath duelist, coupled with Slaying Lance and powerful skills like Bonfire or Ignis to absolutely demolish units that challenge. She can also make use out of Wrath even more damage and uptime on her specials.
  • For all her merits, Nephenee's Resistance stat is a notable weak point, making her incredibly susceptible to being one-shot by powerful mages.

Niles: Cruel to Be Kind Icon Portrait Niles Cruel to Be Kind.png Icon Class Colorless Bow.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B
  • With an Attack stat of 25, Niles might seem like a hopelessly weak Archer, but the saucy Archer has a few tricks up his sleeve. For starters, his Speed of 34 is impressive and he's got an especially great Resistance stat.
  • He's dependant on the Brave Bow+ and Iceberg for damage. His damage is weak, but after his special is charged he can dish out some good damage.
  • Additionally, his high Res means he can effectively make use of Defense Ploy to weaken enemies to let him hit harder / use it as a support debuff for other teammates to more easily take out opponents.
  • His Defense is awful and offensively, he's effectively overshadowed by other archers with better and consistent Attack/Speed stat lines (eg. Cordelia (Bridal Blessings)).

Ninian: Oracle of Destiny Icon Portrait Ninian Oracle of Destiny.png Icon Class Blue Breath.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Has the rare Dance ability, which essentially allows her to transfer her turn to another ally. A valuable skill that can allow stronger units to go twice.
  • Triangle Adept is by far her best A-passive, granting her the ability to act as a solid check to Red units. She can opt for skills like Swordbreaker and Quick Riposte to further improve her matchup against Red units.
  • Her mediocre Attack and Defense are her weak points, and she has a vulnerability to Dragon Slayer weapons.

Nino: Pious Mage Icon Portrait Nino Pious Mage.png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Sporting low HP, Defense, and average Resistance, Nino makes up for all this by boasting an impressive 33 Attack and and even more exceptional 36 Speed.
  • Nino’s offensive stat line makes her a strong user of her default tome Gronnblade+.
  • Her lower defenses does mean she struggles even against the likes of Reinhardt, but her high Speed also acts defensively by preventing enemies from doubling her.

Nowi: Eternal Youth Icon Portrait Nowi Eternal Youth.png Icon Class Blue Breath.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S
  • Nowi cements herself as one of the strongest and most utilized units in the game being powerful, pullable, and precious. With a solid defensive stat spread and good attack, she is able to tank both magic and physical sources, and then punch back hard against them
  • She's able to run a multitude of sets depending on what you need her to do. She can effectively run Steady Breath Quick Riposte to effectively counter red and lance units, while being able to stand up to blue magic and even many axe units. She also runs cheaper sets such as Fury or Triangle Adept very well.
  • In addition, the stats she chooses to focus on also depends on how you want to utilize her. She can invest into attack to better one shot enemies, defense to be reliable and independent, or speed to get to a speed tier where she's able to consistently not get doubled by enemies, and then double them back with Quick Riposte.
  • With Quick Riposte being a seal, she (and other dragons) have accessibly to other B skills such Guard, Swordbreaker, Bowbreaker, or even more exotic skills like Wrath
  • Overall Nowi is an extremely flexible unit who can be built to fulfill whatever task she is required to complete. However, while she is one of the best enemy phase units in the game, her player phase can be lackluster if she can't OHKO the enemy.
Nowi: Eternal Witch Icon Portrait Nowi Eternal Witch.png Icon Class Red Tome.png
Icon Move Flying.png
A+
  • Nowi rounds out the triumvirate of flying mage units, sporting good (but not great) offensive stats and solid Resistance but at the cost of HP and Defense.
  • Grimoire has an intriguing effect, but Nowi works best with the Rauðrblade+ due to its consistency. With the proper support, she gains nuking potential and the ability to strike from multiple positions due to her flight mobility.
  • She can make great use out of Green Tomebreaker in order to better check offensive Green mages.
  • Her defense is lacking, and it isn't all that difficult to kill her with magic attacks either.
  • On a flier synergistic team, she is S+ tier due her exceptional nuking ability.

Oboro: Fierce Fighter Icon Portrait Oboro Fierce Fighter.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Oboro is most easily compared to Lukas, but with less Atk, HP and Def in exchange for Spd and Res. However, her Spd and Res are still mediocre at best.
  • She has two viable builds, full player phase offense with Brave Lance+, Death Blow and Bonfire, and enemy phase defense. With a +4 boon and Fury, Oboro reaches 33 Speed, which is enough for her to avoid being doubled by middling Speed melee bruisers. Deft Harpoon is a very solid choice to supplement her Speed even further, among her other stats. Killer Lance is another effective option on this build that allows her to deal heavy damage even to green enemies with Bonfire. Increased Speed and Res compared to Lukas allow her to survive attacks that he cannot.
  • Her ideal sets are Brave or Quick Riposte focused, but her decreased HP, Atk and Def lessen her performance against physical enemies compared to Lukas. However, her higher Speed can allow her to take less damage in certain matchups.

Odin: Potent Force Icon Portrait Odin Potent Force.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
C
  • With staggeringly low Attack stat of 22, Odin is the weakest offensive unit in the entire game.
  • His other stats do little to make up for this, as he merely has serviceable Speed and decent defensive stats to make up for it.
  • While Blárblade+ is intended to make up for his low Attack, Inheritance has guaranteed that practically every other blue mage heavily outclasses him on that front.

Ogma: Loyal Blade Icon Portrait Ogma Loyal Blade.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Ogma functions similarly to Hana with impressive Attack and Speed but the added benefit of much higher physical bulk at the expense of tying with Virion and Bartre for worst Resistance in the game.
  • Similar to Hana, he can run a Brave Sword+ set to make use of his strong Attack and, although 34 Spd isn’t overly exceptional, can try to run a quad set as well since he can actually take a hit.
  • His Resistance means he melts when a mage so much as sneezes on him.

Oliver: Admirer of Beauty Icon Portrait Oliver Admirer of Beauty.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B
  • Fortunately (or unfortunately?), Oliver isn't a complete joke on the battlefield, as his Attack and Resistance stats make him a respectable mage tank.
  • Oliver can be built in a couple of ways, utilizing a Blade tome set with Quick Riposte in order to be effective on both Attack and Enemy Phase. Blárraven tome on the other hand, will allow him to deal with colorless units.
  • Oliver benefits quite a bit from defensive skills like Distant Defense and Fury, and his high Resistance makes him a capable debuff unit with ploys.
  • In the end, Oliver's poor Speed and Defense are extremely exploitable.

Olivia: Blushing Beauty Icon Portrait Olivia Blushing Beauty.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Has the rare Dance ability, which essentially allows her to transfer her turn to another ally. A valuable skill that can allow stronger units to go twice.
  • The Ruby Sword+ massively improves her matchups against Green units, such as taking out Hector. The Silver Sword+ is more useful against Red opposing units, and it can ignore Cancel Affinity. Wo Dao+ is also another solid weapon alternative on her in combination with Moonbow.
  • Her statline is generally low due to being a dancer, though her Speed is impressive and her Attack is useable, which is pretty much all she needs.

Olivia: Festival Dancer Icon Portrait Olivia Festival Dancer.png Icon Class Colorless Dagger.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Olivia's statline is aggressively mediocre, with Speed and Resistance being the only stats worthwhile (and the latter is mitigated by her poor HP), but she can nonetheless provide immense support via dance.
  • Inheritance gives Olivia a bit more of an edge, with Fury and the Poison Dagger+ giving her utility frail infantry mage units. She can also make use out of the Seashell+, to increase her durability even further, making her more annoying to deal with on defense teams.
  • Her dismal stat total and inability to make use out of Triangle Adept greatly lowers her utility, especially in comparison to other dancers. She's simply too weak to reliably kill enemy units, and will usually be relegated to dance support.

Olwen: Blue Mage Knight Icon Portrait Olwen Blue Mage Knight.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A
  • The Blue Knight mage wields Dire Thunder, which is an incredible weapon, and she has impressive Speed and Resistance to along with it, but she's lacking in Attack and Defense.
  • Fortunately, she can be built to make up for Attack deficit by using Life and Death, which also bolsters her Speed to new heights.
  • She's frail on the physical side (especially if Life and Death is used).

Olwen: Righteous Knight Icon Portrait Olwen Righteous Knight.png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A-
  • This variant of Olwen has a much more attractive offensive statline than her predecesor, with 30/35 offenses and decent Resistance.
  • Thunderhead tome is by far her best weapon, leveraging the fearsome power of blade tomes without any drawbacks. Sticking with Swift Sparrow is also ideal, though Desperation and Glimmer work a lot better than Renewal and Blazing Wind as B-slot and specials respectively.
  • Her physical defense is bottom class, and her poor HP can make it difficult to take strong magical hits as well.

Oscar: Agile Horseman Icon Portrait Oscar Agile Horseman.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A
  • Oscar manages to stand out in a sea of similar blue lance cavalry due to his impressive statline. His solid 33/34 offenses and decent physical defense, giving him utility on both regular and cavalry teams.
  • Unsurprisingly, he makes best use out of the Brave Lance to run foes at a great range. He's also adept at using the Firesweep Lance, provided he's received a boost to Speed.
  • His defenses are on the lower side, with his Resistance being particularly abusable.
  • On cavalry based teams he ranks up to S tier due to a massive boost in offense he receives.

Palla: Eldest Whitewing Icon Portrait Palla Eldest Whitewing.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Flying.png
A-
  • The eldest Pegasus Sister has a balanced statline, with serviceable offensive stats and above average defensive stats.
  • Palla has solid enough bulk to tank hits for her team while also dishing out notable damage. She can choose to go a more hyper-offensive Brave Sword+ route (if +Atk) or a green bait route with her default Ruby Sword+ and if available Distant Counter as well for the common green mages in the meta.
  • On flier teams, the access to additional buffs lets her rise to A+ tier.

Peri: Playful Slayer Icon Portrait Peri Playful Slayer.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png

  • Boasts an impressive 33/33 Attack and Speed, but average Defense and HP make her lackluster as a physical duelist.
  • With +Attack, she can run a Brave Lance+ build and, as a cavalry unit, can effectively flank and deal high amounts of damage to enemies.
  • With her above average Resistance, she can use Defense Ploy to boost her offensive potential and as a team debuff support skill.
  • On a cavalry team, she gets bumped up to A+ tier.

Priscilla: Delicate Princess Icon Portrait Priscilla Delicate Princess.png Icon Class Colorless Staff.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
S-
  • Outside of Resistance, Priscilla stats aren't very impressive, but they get the job done.
  • As a mounted healer she has immense healing, providing your teammates support from almost anywhere in the map. Wrathful Staff can be used to give her attacks a major boost in power, and with cavalry buffs she actually do some damage, but she lacks Speed compared to both Elise and Clarine.
  • Although she does benefit from the cavalry buffs somewhat, offensively she is still outclassed by Elise putting her at A on the Emblem Buff List.

Raigh: Dark Child Icon Portrait Raigh Dark Child.png Icon Class Red Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png

  • Raigh's statline essentially amount to "pretty good." His Attack while good, is still behind some of the stronger mages, and his Speed is below average as well.
  • He can of course, make use out of Rauðrblade+ to significantly boost his offense, as well as pick up skills like Fury 3 or Life and Death to increase his offensive statline.
  • While useable, there are many red mages that are better than him and he simply lacks a unique niche.

Raven: Peerless Fighter Icon Portrait Raven Peerless Fighter.png Icon Class Green Axe.png

  • Raymond (snrk), has pretty impressive offensive stats (34/35) and decent Defense to fall back on.
  • He works really well with Brave Axe+ builds, as they allow him to ORKO most targets.
  • He's not really lacking in any particular area, though Brave Axe+ weakens his enemy phase.

Rebecca: Wildflower Icon Portrait Rebecca Wildflower.png Icon Class Colorless Bow.png

Reinhardt: Thunder's Fist Icon Portrait Reinhardt Thunders Fist.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
S-
  • With his legendary Brave tome Dire Thunder, high Atk, and cavalry movement, Reinhardt is one of the best mages in the game.
  • His other stats are less noteworthy, sporting atrocious Speed and average Def/Res. This typically doesn’t factor into his performance when he initiates and obliterates most opponents.
  • Reinhardt wants all the attack power he can get from skills like Death Blow to make sure he can nuke the most units he can. The combination of Quickened Pulse and Moonbow makes him even more oppressive than before.
  • However, as the meta has gotten progressively more and more tanky, Reinhardt can struggle to take out targets, causing him to inevitably get doubled on return and lose.

Reinhardt: Thunder's Sword Icon Portrait Reinhardt Thunders Sword.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
S
  • Reinhardt's stats speak for themselves, with every stat but Speed being average or above average, making him a fearsome tank unit.
  • Meisters… The Master Sword makes him an absolute menace to deal with on enemy phase, as it grants him guaranteed, permanent follow-ups. This gives him a clear edge over other Brave Sword units, who tend to have lackluster enemy phases.
  • Distant Counter is an absolute must on him, giving him crucial coverage against ranged units, which in turn makes him tricky for opponents to deal with at both ranges. Vantage ensures (when active), that Reinhardt is able to strike opponents who target him twice before they can get a chance to attack him. This can potentially put teams in checkmate, should they be in a position where they can't tank Reinhardt's attacks.
  • His low Speed puts him at risk to strong units on enemy phase, as they can typically double him with little trouble.

Rhajat: Black Magician Icon Portrait Rhajat Black Magician.png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • A capable offensive green mage, possessing a solid offensive stat spread but comparatively weaker defensive stats.
  • Rhajat has a few options at her disposal; her statline lets her run an effective a bladetome build which gives her tremendous offense. On the other hand, sticking with the Keen Gronnwolf gives great coverage against cavalry units, giving her the ability to mow down even red cavalry units with the proper support.
  • Keen Gronnwolf can be upgraded for a nice stat boost and the immensely useful ability to nullify cavalry buffs.
  • Her mediocre defenses make her relatively easy to take out.

Robin: Mystery Tactician Icon Portrait Robin Mystery Tactician.png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B-
  • A green mage below average stats offensive stats, above average defense and subpar Resistance.
  • Robin has very little going for her as a unit. Her Resistance is too low for mage to mage combat, her Attack is lackluster, she doesn't really offer anything unique to the table, and she can't utilize different IVs as well.
  • Ultimately, she is outclassed by virtually every other Green mage in the game.

Robin: Seaside Tactician Icon Portrait Robin Seaside Tactician.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Similar to Sharena, Robin's stats are well-rounded, with no real shortcomings outside of HP.
  • Robin is immensely flexible, and she can be built several ways. Deft Harpoon is by far her best weapon while Fury as always, is good for the statline boost (though she can run Triangle Adept in order to better counter Red units.)
  • Her HP is rather mediocre, which limits her tanking ability.

Robin: Fell Vessel Icon Portrait Robin Fell Vessel.png Icon Class Colorless Breath.png
Icon Move Flying.png
A+
  • The Fell Vessel has a well-rounded statline with an emphasis on Speed, giving her the ability to do everything well. This is further emphasized by her color, which gives her a neutral matchup against everything.
  • Expiration is a fantastic breath, giving her coverage against ranged units and the ability to target the weaker defensive stats. Set wise, Robin makes great use out of her default kit with Dragonskin giving her a nice defensive boost and nullification of her bow weakness. Quick Riposte is particularly useful for crushing.
  • Flight mobility gives her more general utility and the more opportunities for general tanking.
  • Her status as a colorless unit prevents her from having positive weapon triangle matchups, which makes it harder for her to tank heavier hits from meta relevant threats. The game is designed around placing your enemy phase units near positive matchups, so generalists like Robin suffer in that regard. She's perfectly usable as a tank, though she benefits greatly from defensive buffs (such as tactics skills) to further bolster her defenses.

Robin: High Deliverer Icon Portrait Robin High Deliverer.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B-
  • Once a former staple, Robin has suffered a pretty major fall from grace. His stats simply aren't up to par, as he's uniformly below average in every stat barring Defense, and his Resistance is lacking.
  • Set wise, Robin still functions best with his default tome and Triangle Adept for dual coverage, though this has been lessened in effectiveness with the introduction of Cancel Affinity.
  • Simply put, the metagame shifts have not been kind to Robin.

Robin: Festive Tactician Icon Portrait Robin Festive Tactician.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Armored.png
S+
  • Robin has a type of stat spread that most units dream of having; he's well rounded, but dominant in every stat with the exception of Resistance (which is still roughly above average.)
  • Depending on his skillset, he can be built to excel on player phase (Death Blow + Bold Fighter), enemy phase (Vengeful Fighter + Wrath) or general purpose mixed phase all-rounder that covers many foes (Distant Counter, Slaying, Bold Fighter, Quick Riposte seal). Robin's versatility is phenomenal.
  • His Resistance is his only real weakness but his good HP stat mitigates it to a certain extent.

Robin: Fell Reincarnation Icon Portrait Robin Fell Reincarnation.png Icon Class Green Breath.png
Icon Move Armored.png
S+
  • The Fell Dragon is a terror on the battlefield, with a top class Attack stat, fantastic physical Defense and decent Resistance. Speed is his only statistical shortcoming.
  • Expiration gives him adaptive damage, which when coupled with his already staggeringly high Attack, makes him a menace for physical attackers and mages alike. Both Vengeful and Bold Fighter strengthen his Enemy and Player phase by a significant amount, making him extremely good in either role.
  • While Robin has a number of strengths, his weakness to both Dragon- and Armor slaying weapons give foes more ways to exploit him. Depending on his B skill, he can be defeated in the enemy phase or during the player phase.

Roderick: Steady Squire Icon Portrait Roderick Steady Squire.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png

  • Roderick ties Sully as as the highest Spd lance cavalier, but boasts a whopping 5 more Attack over her. Also has respectable physical and magical bulk.
  • His 31/34 offensive stat line means he is the best user of Firesweep Lance+ amongst blue lance cavalry heroes, which he can supplement with an A passive like Swift Sparrow.
  • On a cavalry team, the increased stats push Roderick up to A+.

Roy: Young Lion Icon Portrait Roy Young Lion.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • Roy's new refine provides a weapon with fantastic enemy phase potential. However, just like in his home game, his excellent sword is somewhat held back by its wielder
  • Roy becomes a strong enemy phase unit, but his extremely even stat spread means that he doesn't particularly excel in any particular field, and has awful player phase.
  • With Quick Riposte built into his sword, he can run skills such as Guard or Wrath to help bolster his tanking or damage.
  • His good resistance lets him run Distant Counter good as well, or you can run Steady Breath (or Warding) to focus on melee dueling.
  • He is particularly well suited to fight dragons, as his enemy phase prowess counters their enemy phase prowess.
Roy: Brave Lion Icon Portrait Roy Brave Lion.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png

  • Despite being a cavalry unit, Roy has the benefit of having a tremendous statline. He effectively has 35/34 offenses due to his legendary weapon and 3 movement, giving excellent offense and good range.
  • Blazing Durandal's built in Heavy Bade effect gives Roy's specials a quicker up-time, allowing him to use skills like Galeforce to devastating effect.
  • He can be built any number of ways, but works best with skills like Fury and Swift Sparrow for more offense/stability, and Swordbreaker for complete coverage against opposing red sword units.
  • While perfectly usable on most team styles, Roy clearly works best on cavalry teams, and is S+ tier on such teams due to his devastating offensive potential.

Roy: Youthful Gifts Icon Portrait Roy Youthful Gifts.png Icon Class Colorless Bow.png

  • Roy has great Attack and serviceable defensive stats, making him perfect for a hit and run playstyle that also occasionally allows him to tank hits when needed.
  • He was practically designed with the Brave Bow in mind, allowing him to dish out heavy burst damage without having to worry about his inability to double units due to his awful Speed. Naturally, skills like Death Blow and a breaker of your choice are ideal here.
  • His Speed is pure garbage, giving him an especially bad enemy phase; due to his low HP, strong offensive units will often kill him after a follow up attack.

Ryoma: Peerless Samurai Icon Portrait Ryoma Peerless Samurai.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • A top class hero with impressive Attack and Speed stats, coupled with respectable Defense and Resistance. He also has Distant Counter built-in to his legendary weapon Raijinto making him a potent threat on both player and enemy phase.
  • Fury is by far his best option, as it grants him a hefty boost to his statline and synergizes with Vantage, making him even deadlier on both phases.
  • The gap between Ryoma and Ike has more or less vanished in the current metagame. Ryoma’s speed is no longer as valuable when Ike's extra bulk allows him to run Steady Breath better and survive Ignis variant Brave Ikes. Additionally, with units like Reinhardt and Brave Lyn dominating the metagame, the overall value of Distant Counter swords has decreased.

  • Unfortunately for Saber, he suffers in comparison to Minerva due to being an infantry unit, losing the flexibility and mobility fliers have.
  • Additionally the Red Sword category is much more crowded, meaning Saber has much more competition against other Red Swords above him.
  • His stats leave him in a spot that essentially makes him a mediocre brawler with nothing special. Also, in a meta dominated by mages, his low Res does him no favors.

  • Saizo's a cut above your standard dagger unit, but he still falls short of the very best.
  • While his Speed and Defense are impressive, the latter advantage is significantly less useful on a dagger unit, and his awful Resistance puts him at serious risk to mages.
  • He can run a Poison Dagger set just fine, but as previously noted he's outclassed by Kagero and Gaius.
