Rating Criteria

Ratings in this tier list factor in Skill Inheritance. Units are rated by their stats (including boons/banes), skill potential, and important match-ups. As with all tier lists, ratings can be subjective and should only serve as a general guideline. Please note that order does not matter within the same tier.

S+: Units that are either powerful on offense and defense, or oppressively powerful in either one of offense or defense. Essentially requires a team to have some sort of counter unit to play against them effectively. These units will perform well on any team, even without specific support.

S: Powerful units that either provide unparalleled utility or excel at specific tasks. Units in this tier generally win close to every advantageous matchup as well as many neutral matchups. These units can fit on nearly any team.

A+: Units that provide impressive utility or perform their combat roles well. Generally will win a large majority of advantageous matchups and a solid amount of neutral matchups. Buffs are usually required for them to reach their full potential.

A: Above average units that win a majority of advantageous matchups and an acceptable amount of neutral matchups. They perform their respective roles or niches well, but their potential is lower than the units in higher tiers.

A-: Serviceable units with average performance who can serve as a specific counter or niche against the above tiers.

B+: Below average units that can still fill roles to acceptable degrees, but require support, their niches are too narrow and/or units in higher tiers fill their niches better.

B: This tier consists of subpar units, usually due to poor stat spreads. Units in this tier can still be viable and useful given enough investment, but may not be the most efficient units to use for a specific roles.

C: This tier consists of units with very poor base stat distributions, making them quite difficult to use effectively. They are easily outclassed by higher tier units.

Factors NOT considered:

  • Synergistic team compositions which utilize Infantry, Cavalry, Armor, Dragon, or Flying team buffs heavily are not considered.
  • Investment costs for promotions and skills are generally not considered in order to ensure more accurate analysis.
  • Availability of a unit is not considered.

Detailed Ratings

Name Icon Rating Notes
Nephenee Icon Portrait Nephenee.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Nephenee falls into the "blue lance unit with well-rounded stats" archetype, as her statline puts her around the same level as units like Sharena and Summer Robin.
  • That said, she is perhaps the best of these units due to her stat distribution; it notably allows her to function as a solid Steady Breath duelist, coupled with Slaying Lance and powerful skills like Bonfire or Ignis to absolutely demolish units that challenge. She can also make use out of Wrath even more damage and uptime on her specials.
  • For all her merits, Nephenee's Resistance stat is a notable weak point, making her incredibly susceptible to being one-shot by powerful mages.

Elincia Icon Portrait Elincia.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Flying.png
S
  • With her devastating legendary weapon and top class offensive stats, Elincia is an absolute terror on the battlefield.
  • Amiti really is as good as it seems; its high might and downright negligible downside give Elincia's offensive potential a major boost. She can immediately make use out of her base skillset, as Death Blow gives her the exact amount of fire power needed to annihilate most units in the game. She can also make excellent use out of the Wo Dao due to her stat line.
  • Outside of her meager defenses, Elincia doesn't really have any notable flaws.

Oscar Icon Portrait Oscar.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A+
  • Oscar manages to stand out in a sea of similar blue lance cavalry due to his impressive statline. His solid 33/34 offenses and decent physical defense, giving him utility on both regular and cavalry teams.
  • Unsurprisingly, he makes best use out of the Brave Lance to run foes at a great range. He's also adept at using the Firesweep Lance, provided he's received a boost to Speed.
  • His defenses are on the lower side, with his Resistance being particularly abusable.
  • On cavalry based teams he ranks up to S tier due to a massive boost in offense he receives.

Name Icon Rating Notes
Abel Icon Portrait Abel.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A
  • With impressive attack and serviceable speed, Abel competes with Peri for the role of a hard hitting mounted brave lance user.
  • Using a Brave Lance and attack boosting skills like Death Blow, Abel can deal a lot of damage while maintaining an acceptable level of speed and mixed bulk. Drag Back and Hit and Run can be used on offensive mounted units for flanking and evading danger, but terrain impediments like tree tiles hurt this approach.
  • His defenses are evenly spread out compared to Peri who focuses more on resistance.
  • On a Cavalry based team with Hone/Goad cavalry, Abel would be an A+ ranking unit.
Alfonse Icon Portrait Alfonse.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • A bulky red sword unit with great Attack and a legendary weapon. Comparable to Chrom.
  • With low Speed and a mediocre effect on his legendary weapon, Alfonse leaves much to be desired. Defiant skills are generally considered to be niche at best.
  • He works acceptably well with a Brave Sword+ build, however, in the end he does nothing special and is outshined by Chrom (who has a higher Atk stat) and other potential Brave Sword+ users who have access to IVs.

Alm Icon Portrait Alm.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • Falchion wielder with balanced stats.
  • His Speed is too low to double things effectively like Marth and Lucina, and his Attack is too low make great use out of the Brave Sword+ like Chrom.
  • These balanced stats make him unable to excel at anything in particular, placing him in an awkward spot.

Amelia Icon Portrait Amelia.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Armored.png
S
  • The Rose of War has a fantastic statline, with 34/34 offenses and exceptional physical Defense, making her into one of the metagame's finest offensive tanks.
  • She makes great use out of Brave Axe+ build to bolster her offense even further, allowing her to KO a vast assortment of threats and avoid getting killed on enemy phase due to her high defenses. She can also make use out of a Distant Counter and Quick Riposte build, letting her function as a pseudo Hector but with far more Speed, making her much more difficult to KO.
  • While Amelia has a lot of things going for her, she's still restricted with her low movement. Her low Resistance is a notable weakpoint as well, though her respectable Speed makes it harder for mages to double her.
  • On a Armored based team with Hone/Goad Armor, Amelia is an S+ ranking unit.
Anna Icon Portrait Anna.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • Anna boasts exceptional Speed, even when the fact that she cannot have a Speed boosting IV combination is taken into account.
  • Works best with a Fury build, as Anna greatly appreciates the general boost to her statline.
  • Her high Speed and Resistance makes her ideal for taking on mages and dragons, and she can deal with most blue units on player phase.
  • While she's a good, all-purpose Green unit she lacks focus. Anna doesn't excel at any particular niche, leaving her outdone by better Green units.
  • Her physical durability is terrible, putting her at risk from being killed by even physical blue units.
Arthur Icon Portrait Arthur.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • A well-rounded axe user with decent stats across the board.
  • Due to his well rounded stats, a Fury build would be ideal for him, increasing his statline which in turn improves his combat ability.
  • He doesn't excels at anything, leaving him outclassed by other axe fighters.

Athena Icon Portrait Athena.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Athena's exceptional Speed and average Attack stat of 31 give her impressive offensive potential as a red sword unit.
  • She can make good use out of builds that utilize both Life and Death or Fury, depending on your setup of choice. Life and Death builds work best with Brave Sword+, while Fury is best paired with Wo Dao+.
  • Her durability is somewhat underwhelming, especially when Life and Death is used.

Azama Icon Portrait Azama.png Icon Class Neutral Staff.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • A staff user with an amazing defense stat.
  • With 75 effective physical resistance, Azama is capable of tanking pretty much every physical unit in the game.
  • His speed is the worst aspect, but his average Resistance and great Defense allow him to take hits anyways and heal back through skills like Live to Serve.

Azura Icon Portrait Azura.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S
  • Has the rare Sing ability, which essentially allows her to transfer her turn to another ally. A valuable skill that can allow stronger units to go twice.
  • Azura’s offensive statline of 31/33 and Sapphire Lance allows her to be a competent blue unit that can be used to check red heroes.
  • Her Resistance allows her to run a distant counter build to check mages.
  • Has lower BST compared to other melee infantry due to being a dancer.
Barst Icon Portrait Barst.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • An Axe infantry with impressive Attack, serviceable Speed and above average physical bulk.
  • With his solid offensive stats and Defense, Barst can serve as a combat bruiser, using a Killer Axe and dealing respectable damage with a Special like Bonfire.
  • Although his offensive stats are generally good, bruisers are not very reliable in the arena and have to take risks. In addition, he does not have the Res to confront mages.

Bartre Icon Portrait Bartre.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Effectively an Infantry similar to Cherche and Frederick. With a great 36 attack and 33 defense, he is an offensive physical brawler.
  • Giving him Death Blow and Brave Axe+ gives him tremendous potential while maintaining his tankiness to physical units.
  • Unfortunately, his lesser mobility compared to Cherche and Frederick make him tiered lower than the other two.
  • His low Resistance and Speed also means any magic user will make short work of him.
Berkut Icon Portrait Berkut.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A-
  • Lance cavalry unit with impressive Attack and above average HP and Defense burdened with abysmal Spd and low Res.
  • No matter what build Berkut tries to go, he is outclassed by other units (eg. Camus).
  • He could try to go a Brave Lance+ build, but Berkut's lack of IVs hinder him. +Atk Abel and Peri pull ahead of him and even units such as Gunter and Stahl with a +Atk IV reach Berkut's level of Atk.
  • He can be A on a cavalry team with the additional buffs provided.
Beruka Icon Portrait Beruka.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Flying.png
A-
  • Sports the second best non-armored Defense stat in the game, making it extremely difficult for physical blues, greens, and even some reds to kill her, especially when on Defensive Terrain.
  • Has amazing synergy with Killer Axe+, Quick Riposte, and Bonfire or Ignis to act as a bulky duelist, and nets her similar matchup wins to Michalis despite his higher attack while still being able to have IVs.
  • Being a flier, she takes significant damage from archers unless Iote's Shield is equipped (even with her high DEF). In addition, her low Resistance and low Speed means she dies really quickly to mages.
  • In a Flier oriented team with flier buffs, she would be an A rank unit. With green fliers being a contested slot and lacking player phase kill potential, there are generally better picks.
Boey Icon Portrait Boey.png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • Has very high physical bulk for a mage, but terrible Resistance, making it hard to trade with enemy mages. He sports a very similar stat spread to Merric.
  • His offensive stat spread is very mediocre, not having good Attack nor good Speed.
  • Gronnowl+ requires very strict positioning to pull off, and he is severely hindered stat-wise if he doesn't receive the buffs.
  • He could make use of the Triangle Adept, Gronnraven+ build, but he wouldn't be much more effective with it compared to other users of the same build.
Caeda Icon Portrait Caeda.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Flying.png
A
  • Has incredibly high Speed and Resistance stats and incredibly low Attack and Defense stats.
  • With the introduction of Defense Ploy, Caeda can now utilize her high Resistance to bring down enemy defenses. This both acts as a boost to Caeda’s low Attack as well as gives Caeda the niche of being a long-range debuffer.
  • Since she’s a flier, the lesser mobility restrictions are an additional boon as well, and can be used to more easily apply Defense Ploy as well.
  • In a flier oriented team, she would be an A+ rank. She still suffers from the same issues of low Defense, but with incredible levels of speed and the use of Desperation, she can avoid hits that would normally kill her.
Caeda (Bridal Blessings) Icon Portrait Caeda (Bridal Blessings).png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • A blue tome user with the best Speed in her class, great Resistance and decent Attack.
  • Makes good use out of the Blarblade tome and Life and Death to increase her offensive potential.
  • Pitiful physical Defense.

Cain Icon Portrait Cain.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A
  • A mounted sword with a strong offensive statline for his class at 32 Attack and 32 Speed.
  • With an Attack boon, he reaches 35 Atk, making him a great user of his default weapon Brave Sword+. Coupled with him being a cavalry unit, he excels at flanking and taking out enemy units.
  • In a cavalry based team, he would be an S tier unit, with great attack and speed while still being able to take hits.

Camilla Icon Portrait Camilla.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Flying.png
A+
  • An Axe flier with balanced stats. 30 attack is slightly on the lower side, however.
  • She is very resilient to hits with decent speed, 28 DEF and 31 RES. With Melon Crusher+ to boost her overall stats and Distant Counter, she becomes one of the best tanking fliers. With an Emerald Axe+, she can even shrug off meta blue mage threats such as Reinhardt.
  • With the introduction of Defense Ploy, Camilla can now utilize her Res to bring down enemy defenses to patch up her relatively lower attack compared to Cherche and Minerva. Since she’s a flier, the lesser mobility restrictions make it easier to apply Defense Ploy as well, increasing Camilla’s offensive potential.
  • In a flier oriented team, she would be an A+ unit as while she does gain from flier buffs, she does not quite reach the power levels of Cherche above her.
Camilla (Spring Festival) Icon Portrait Camilla (Spring Festival).png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Flying.png
A+
  • Limited time unit from the Spring Festival event. She is the first flier mage to be introduced in the game. She has great Attack and Defense, meaning she can take physical hits very well, which is rare for a mage. Unfortunately with her low Speed and Resistance, she struggles to fight against enemy mages whom she cannot oneshot.
  • Her amazing mobility and range as a flier provides unprecedented utility to a team.
  • With a Gronnraven+ and Triangle Adept build, she can handle a good amount of enemies, although she still lacks in terms of fighting enemy mages.
  • On a flier oriented team, Spring Camilla is an S+ rank. Equipped with a Gronnblade+, she reaches unparalleled levels of damage with amazing mobility.
Camus Icon Portrait Camus.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A
  • Cavalry lance user with Distant Counter built into his weapon with good Attack and Defense. Often compared to Xander.
  • Similar to Xander, his low Resistance means he instantly dies to magic users, even potentially red mages such as Celica depending on her IVs/build.
  • Unlike Xander, Camus gives up some of his bulk in HP and Defense for mid-range speed, which doesn't help him double anything important nor does it save him from truly fast heroes.
  • This sacrificed physical bulk also means he does not perform his role as a physical tank as effectively as Xander. Additionally, his blue color is a detriment to him due to the meta revolving around blues and greens.
  • On a cavalry-based team, Camus receives much needed buffs to his stat line to remedy the aforementioned flaws, bringing him up to S tier.
Catria Icon Portrait Catria.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Flying.png
A+
  • A flying lance unit with well-rounded stats across the board.
  • Due to her higher defenses compared to the other blue lance fliers but still respectable Attack and Speed, this makes her ideal for a quad build using Brave Lance+ and Life and Death without becoming as fragile as other fliers.
  • With flier buffs, she becomes S tier.

Cecilia Icon Portrait Cecilia.png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A
  • A mounted Green Mage. She has acceptable attack and good RES but her speed and defense are lacking.
  • With Gronnraven+ she makes short work of annoying units like Takumi and Kagero. Her high res also allows her to deal with Reinhardt and Olwen easily.
  • As a mounted mage, she has 5 effective attack range. This can be very devastating on Arena defense teams.
  • On a cavalry based team, she is an S+ rank. As the only mounted green mage, she can abuse cavalry buffs to a ridiculous extent through Gronnblade+.
Celica Icon Portrait Celica.png Icon Class Red Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S
  • A red tome user with impressive Attack and Speed stats similar to Tharja, but boosted even higher with her legendary tome Ragnarok.
  • Ragnarok affords her quite a bit of flexibility in comparison to other red mage nukes as she does not need to rely on ally buffs to achieve high numbers.
  • She has a couple build options such as running Life and Death alongside Renewal to try and keep Ragnarok’s effect active or abusing Ragnarok’s HP drop with Fury to drop into Desperation range.
  • Low defensive stats compared to other red mages (eg. Sanaki, Katarina) but it is a minor detriment when considering her offensive potential with Ragnarok.
Charlotte (Bridal Blessings) Icon Portrait Charlotte (Bridal Blessings).png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • A blue lance user with high Attack, great HP and decent Speed to back it up. However, her Resistance is quite low.
  • Her naturally high Attack allows her to make great use out of the Brave Lance and Death Blow.
  • As an infantry unit, she has less mobility and flexibility in positioning than fliers, putting her below them. She also lacks the niche that higher ranked blue lance infantry units provide such as Ephraim (Buff bot) and Azura (Dancer/Singer).

Cherche Icon Portrait Cherche.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Flying.png
S
  • An Axe flier with exceptional base Attack and Defense. Her Speed and Resistance are pitifully low, however.
  • Has great synergy with Brave Axe+ and Death Blow, allowing her to kill nearly every green and blue unit in the game with the help of Axebreaker.
  • Flying mobility grants her safety through the use of Hit and Run / Drag Back, simulating a ranged unit.
  • In a flier oriented team, she maintains S rank as while her player phase power is overwhelming, her oppressiveness is not on the level of other S+ Emblem units.
Chrom Icon Portrait Chrom.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • A red sword unit with high attack and defense, and low speed and resistance.
  • Falchion is effective against Dragons, and provides him healing that he can stack with Renewal and Reciprocal Aid to become a tanky healer.
  • With 37 base attack, he can make effective use of Brave Sword+ and Death Blow to simulate a red infantry Cherche.

Chrom (Spring Festival) Icon Portrait Chrom (Spring Festival).png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Limited time unit from the Spring Festival event. He has great overall stats, lacking only in Resistance.
  • His impressive Attack allows him to run a Brave build effectively.
  • His serviceable Speed and Defense allow him to tank physical hits well while not getting doubled.

Clair Icon Portrait Clair.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Flying.png
A
  • A lance flier with good speed and res, but heavily lacking in Attack and Defense, similar to Caeda.
  • Works well with Firesweep, but unlike Shanna and Catria who use Swift Sparrow, she's required to run Life and Death to keep up with them.
  • With the introduction of Defense Ploy, Clair can now utilize her high Res to bring down enemy defenses to patch up her low attack. Since she’s a flier, the lesser mobility restrictions make it easier to apply Defense Ploy as well. Coupled with her high Speed, Clair now becomes a respectable offensive threat. However, Clair cannot run Life and Death if she wants to keep her Resistance stat high, meaning she falls behind Shanna and Catria offensively.
  • On a flier team, she would be A+ rank. This is because nearly every other offensive built blue flier is stronger than she is and she excels at nothing in particular.
Clarine Icon Portrait Clarine.png Icon Class Neutral Staff.png

  • Being mounted is a huge advantage for healers.
  • Outside of her low attack stat, Clarine has amazing speed while not giving up on defensive stats completely like Elise or Maria.

  • With 35 base attack and 35 base speed, Cordelia is the pinnacle of offense for lance fliers.
  • With her high Speed and Attack, she has the option to use a "Quad" build through Brave Lance+ coupled with Life and Death / Swift Sparrow and Desperation / Hit and Run or even a Firesweep Lance+ build with similar skills.
  • Both builds are hyper offensive, thus not too many risks should be taken with Cordelia on Enemy Phase.
  • On a flier team, she is an S+ rank. Matching Hinoka and Est for the highest flying lance attack values, very few units survive when Cordelia engages.

S+
  • Exceptionally high offensive stats in the form of Attack and Speed make Cordelia an offensive juggernaut compared to other archers.
  • Pairs off extremely well with the Brave Bow+ and Life and Death to give her exceptional OHKO potential.
  • Due to the combination of the highest Attack among archers and high Spd, she the best user of Firesweep Bow+ to hard counter units who rely on counterattacking (eg. Quick Riposte builds, Vantage builds, Distant Counter users, etc)
  • Her high offensive potential is only slightly marred by her very low defenses.

  • A blue dragon with an unusual combination of low Attack and Resistance, but impressive Speed and Defense.
  • Similar to Nowi, she makes great use out of Triangle Adept and Quick Riposte to dominate physical Red units. Unlike Nowi, her Speed prevents her from being doubled by faster units, and she'll have little trouble ORKOing red units that engage her on enemy phase.
  • Dark Breath+ is ideal for its niche, but effective ability to debuff enemy units, potentially giving your teammates an easier time at finishing off opponents.
  • Her low damage output and poor Resistance generally makes her inferior to Nowi, though she can still function as an effective anti-Red unit.

  • With her Speed and Attack, a fitting A passive is Swift Sparrow, while the B slot is relatively flexible - Blue Tomebreaker makes her an excellent check to opposing blue mages while Desperation gives her near unavoidable ORKO potential against most units when it's active.
  • On a flier synergistic team, she is S+ tier for the extreme boost in Blarblade+ damage.

  • Blue tome hero with exceptional attack and impressive speed, on par with Linde.
  • She functions exceptionally well as a blue nuke with Blarblade+ or as a hard-hitting melee buff support with her legendary tome Dark Aura granting Atk+6 to melee allies and +4 to an additional stat with a Hone C-passive. This is extremely powerful with brave allies.
  • Similar to Linde, she is extremely fragile to physical attackers with a neutral physical bulk of 33 HP and 13 Def. Her Res is above average (31), increasing her already potent ability to duel with other mages.

Donnel Icon Portrait Donnel.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • Impressive Attack with above average Defense and HP alongside a slightly below average Speed and low Res make Donnel a capable frontline lance unit.
  • Despite having base stats close to (and arguably better than) Ephraim’s, Ephraim has the legendary weapon Siegmund which not only gives more Might, but also let’s Ephraim have the solid niche of being a buff bot.
  • Donnel’s Attack makes him a good candidate for Brave Lance+; however, he’s outshined in this role by Charlotte (Bridal Blessings) who has a better offensive spread.

Draug Icon Portrait Draug.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

A+
  • Armored unit that currently boasts the highest Def in the game with exceptional HP and serviceable Attack and Speed.
  • Replacing his Brave Sword+ means he can make use of his above average Speed stat (for an armored unit) such as a Wo Dao+ or Slaying Edge+ build. Not only does this give him more damage potential, but also improves his enemy phase.
  • However, his very low Resistance and decreased movement in a meta where blue mages are common causes his performance to suffer.
  • In an Armor emblem team, the access to additional buffs pushes him up to S tier.
Effie Icon Portrait Effie.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Armored.png
S+
  • Armored unit with top class Attack, exceptional HP, and impressive Defense.
  • Her abysmal Speed and lack of movement as a ranged unit is mitigated by Wary Fighter. With it and Effie’s large HP pool, it becomes very difficult to one-shot Effie, even with her low Resistance. This synergizes with Distant Counter and Silver Lance+ / Deft Harpoon+ / Berkut's Lance+, making Effie a powerful tank capable of one-shotting a large chunk of ranged units while still maintaining respectable damage on player phase.
  • For pure offense, Effie can also run Brave Lance+ and Death Blow, but her enemy phase suffers with this build, and her lack of movement makes it difficult for her to engage compared to other more mobile Brave users.
  • In an armor-oriented team, she maintains her spot in S+.
Eirika Icon Portrait Eirika.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • While her Attack leaves much to be desired, her respectable bulk and impressive Speed provide her with great survivability.
  • With her legendary weapon Sieglinde, she holds a strong niche as a buff bot similar to her brother Ephraim.
  • She works best with a Fury build, which noticeably improves her staying power and gives her a nice boost in offense. Furthermore, Swordbreaker makes her well suited towards checking opposing sword units.
  • Although Ephraim has better defensive bulk, he suffers for having lower Speed. Eirika does not have this problem, and is significantly better suited to taking on enemy mages.
Eldigan Icon Portrait Eldigan.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • Eldigan is a slow, physically tanky cavalry Red Sword with respectable Attack and the legendary killer weapon Mystletainn. His stats are extremely similar to Xander.
  • His stats and legendary weapon make him a fantastic hero for a Quick Riposte and Bonfire / Ignis build.
  • Unfortunately, Xander pulls ahead of Eldigan due to Xander’s legendary weapon Siegfried which has built-in Distant Counter. To match him in this build, Eldigan would need to take Distant Counter in his A-passive slot while Xander can take another A-passive (eg. Fury, Distant Defense) to perform the same build better.
  • On a cavalry team with cavalry buffs, his performance becomes nearly equivalent to Xander, netting him a spot in S tier.

  • Healer with serviceable Speed, Attack and solid resistance. Her low HP and defense make her frail to physical threats.
  • Elise is a cavalry healer, and because of that mobility, puts her above infantry healers.
  • Her relatively high Attack and Speed for a healer makes her the best candidate for Wrathful Staff, making her a colorless magical threat; however, without buffs, her magical offensive capabilities are still somewhat meager.
  • In a cavalry-oriented team, the additional offensive buffs put her in S tier.

Eliwood Icon Portrait Eliwood.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png

  • Red cavalry unit with average offensive stats, impressive Resistance and a legendary weapon Durandal which has a built-in Death Blow effect.
  • Eliwood has several options for builds including an offensive-leaning Death Blow build (which stacks with Durandal), Defense Ploy build (which makes use of his high Res to debuff the enemy), or even a more defensive magic tank build.
  • As a melee unit, his low Def and only serviceable Spd means against other melee units (especially other speedy Red Swords), he often gets outdueled. Although his offensive stats aren’t bad, compared to other Red Swords, he is often outclassed.
  • On a cavalry team, he gets pushed up to S tier.
Ephraim Icon Portrait Ephraim.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Ephraim is a slow, tanky blue lance user with impressive Attack but low Resistance.
  • He maintains his spot higher than other heroes with similar stat lines due to his legendary weapon Siegmund and his support ability. Like Eirika, this allows him to become an efficient triple buff bot while still maintaining the flexibility to run a positioning skill such as Reposition in his assist slot.
  • His low Resistance and mediocre Speed means in a mage meta, he gets picked off easily.

  • Sports a similar impressive 35 attack to other blue lance fliers such as Cordelia and Hinoka with lower Speed and HP in exchange for a bit of Defense and much more Res.
  • Her 35 attack means she’s a solid candidate for Brave Lance+ much like the other blue fliers.
  • Despite her lower Speed compared to Hinoka, her high Res means she gains the ability to effectively use Defense Ploy, bumping up her offensive potential a notch above Hinoka. Since she’s a flier, the lesser mobility restrictions also make it easier to apply Defense Ploy as well.
  • In a flier team, her offensive capabilities and potential Defense Ploy team support earn her a solid S rank.
Fae Icon Portrait Fae.png Icon Class Green Beast.png

  • With the meta leaning towards greens and blues, especially mages (eg. Reinhardt, Linde), Fae fills a niche role in being able to tank and use Lightning Breath+ to counterattack these threats better than Nowi, who thrives more in a Red-dominant meta.
  • Her low defense does still make her susceptible to physical attackers, especially Red Swords (eg. Falchion users).

  • Best suited using her Firesweep Bow+ to chip away enemy health. Due to her bulkiness and Firesweep Bow+, she can become quite annoying if not dealt with appropriately. Also has the Res to run Defense Ploy for another debuff to use against the enemy (either for herself or team support).
  • Her offensive stats dull in comparison to other archers above her with much better offensive potential.

  • She also makes great use of skills that rely on the Resistance stat, including Attack/Defense Ploy. Cancel Affinity helps her perform well against users of Triangle Adept Raven tomes. Her weakness is the very low Attack stat, so she will have trouble finishing enemies off unless she uses her Special.

Fir Icon Portrait Fir.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • Red Sword with above average Resistance and exceptional Speed but lacking in the Attack and Defense department.
  • Best suited in a Wo Dao+, Slaying Edge+, or even a quad Brave Sword+ build where she can make great use of her Speed and/or Resistance to patch up her low offenses. Her high Resistance also makes her a great candidate for Defense Ploy.
  • Is still outshined by other heroes (eg. Lon'qu, Athena, Navarre, Lloyd) who have better performance with the aforementioned builds. Her low Defense also means she takes more damage dueling with other melees.
  • Most comparable to Caeda stat-wise, but Caeda has the large benefit of being a flier.
Florina Icon Portrait Florina.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • Lance flier who has below average Attack, Speed and Defense, but impressive HP and Res.
  • Offensively, Florina has little going for her, but with her HP and Resistance, she can have a small niche as a mage tank. As a flier, she is also a good candidate for Defense Ploy which she can use to patch up her attack or as a team support debuff.
  • Despite her HP and Resistance bulk, her Speed still leaves something to be desired and will cause her to take many doubles from speedier enemies.
  • In a flier team, she maintains her spot in A- as, while she can benefit from buffs, she is generally still outclassed by other blue lance fliers who can obtain the same buffs and perform better than her.

In conjunction with Specials like Bonfire, Ignis and Aether, Ike can deal devastating damage even on his first counter attack due to Urvan's cooldown reduction. Quick Riposte makes this combination even deadlier. In fact, he is notable for his ability to defeat even Red Sword units that challenge him on enemy phase, a feat that cannot be matched by most units.
  • Beorc's Blessing allows Ike to ignore bonuses on cavalry and fliers, which makes him an excellent check to oppressive cavalry style teams.

  • As a cavalry unit, his increased movement means he has more flexibility to position for Defense Ploy and also to flank enemy units.

  • His high defense also helps him tank counterattack hits from Distant Counter threats. His Res does leave something to be desired, but with Brave Bow+, he should typically be able to take out mage threats first with the exception of -raven users unless if he has Cancel Affinity.

Lilina Icon Portrait Lilina.png Icon Class Red Tome.png

  • With exceptional Attack and impressive Resistance, Lilina is your definition of a magical tank.
  • Raudrblade+ gives a nice kick to her already impressive power, making it easy for Lilina to OHKO a huge portion of the metagame.
  • Swordbreaker and Red Tomebreaker gives her coverage against Red sword units and mages alike, allowing her to double and crush even the fastest of Red units.
  • Lilina has mediocre Speed, and her Defense is downright atrocious. She is highly vulnerable to physical attacks as a result.
Linde Icon Portrait Linde.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S
  • With her highly optimized stat spread, Linde is a terrifying unit to face in combat. Her high Attack and exceptional Speed allow her to run circles around most of the metagame, and her Resistance is good enough to make her a good check against opposing mages.
  • Blárblade+ supercharges her offense, effectively allowing Linde to obliterate all but the sturdiest of units after receiving buffs.
  • Her Defense is worst in class, though killing her is deceptively difficult as doubling her is nearly impossible.

Lissa Icon Portrait Lissa.png Icon Class Neutral Staff.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B
  • Lissa suffers from a mediocre stat arrangement; her Resistance and Defense are good, but they're undermined by her poor Speed.
  • As a healer, there is little to no reason to use her over other healers.
  • Her low Speed makes it very easy to kill her.

Lloyd Icon Portrait Lloyd.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • Lloyd is yet another Speedy Red sword unit with serviceable Attack, though his Resistance is impressive.
  • His lack of IVs limits his offensive potential somewhat, but his signature weapon makes up for this, as it is powerful and effectively gives him 34/37 offensive stats.
  • His Defense is very low, and he still has to compete for the highly contested Red Sword position.

Lon'qu Icon Portrait Lon'qu.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • Lon'qu epitomizes the concept of swift sword user, as his top class Speed of 39 puts him at the very top of the Speed bracket, and while his Attack is slightly below average, it's more than serviceable in practice.
  • The reason for this is because of the Wo Dao+; it makes up for his Attack with its significant damage boost, and Lon'qu's Speed ensures he can charge specials quickly.
  • He's rather frail, though his Speed prevents him from being doubled, giving him some degree of sturdiness.

Lucina Icon Portrait Lucina.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Lucina sets the standard for red Sword units, as her Speed is exceptional, and she has the Attack to back it up along with decent physical Defense.
  • Lucina has a number of options at her disposal such as Fury and Swordbreaker, making her an excellent duelist and essentially allowing her to cover Green and Red sword units by herself. With Falchion, Renewal and Reciprocal Aid, she can turn into an off-healer, perfect for sustain in chain modes without sacrificing a spot for a healer.
  • Her Resistance is a bit on the low side, though her Speed typically prevent her from being doubled by mage units.

  • Just like Sword Lucina, she has exceptional speed with attack to back it up with decent physical defense. Her physical defense is heightened even further due to her unique lance.
  • Lucina is an excellent melee duelist, particularly against red and lance units. Running Fury allows her to reach 42 Speed for excellent bulk, but she still needs Lancebreaker to double fast Firesweep Lance users. Her personal weapon Geirskögul provides physical allies within 2 range +3 Attack and Speed in combat, which synergizes sensationally well with her innate C slot skill Drive Speed and increases their combat prowess and bulk significantly.
  • Her Resistance is a bit on the low side, though her Speed typically prevent her from being doubled by mage units.

Lucina (Spring) Icon Portrait Lucina (Spring Festival).png Icon Class Blue Tome.png

  • Spring Lucina is an exclusive speedy blue mage with below average Attack and meager defenses.
  • Her Attack is more than usable in practice however, due to Blarblade+ tome and Fury, which significantly improve her offensive potential.
  • Outside of suffering from standard mage weaknesses, she faces heavy competition from Linde, who has a superior stat spread.

Lucius Icon Portrait Lucius.png Icon Class Neutral Staff.png

  • Lucius has a rather typical healer stat spread; he's exceptional as far Resistance is concerned, has serviceable Attack and Speed, but his Defense is terrible (the worst in the game, in fact).
  • While generally outclassed by healers with better stat arrangements, Lucius can still make use out of Wrathful Staff to increase his offense.
  • Unfortunately, his bottom class Defense and inability to stand out from other, better healers relegates him to B tier.

Lukas Icon Portrait Lukas.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Lukas is an absolute tank, with an impressive Attack stat of 35 and an exceptional Defense stat of 38.
  • Quick Riposte is a must for him on an enemy phase build, as it allows him to tear through physical attackers. He thrashes Red units and has a good matchup against most blue physical attackers. Another option is to build him like a bulkier Donnel, geared for player phase with a Brave Lance.
  • While Lukas performs well against physical attackers, Lukas struggles mightily against magical attackers. His low Resistance means he takes extreme damage, and unlike faster tanks he can't avoid being doubled and KO'd.

Luke Icon Portrait Luke.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • On cavalry based teams, Luke rises to S tier.
Lyn Icon Portrait Lyn.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • Lyn is a Red Sword boasting below average Attack, average Defense, Resistance and HP, but with an exceptional Spd stat of 37.
  • Her legendary weapon Sol Katti patches up her Atk stat somewhat, but what really shines is Sol Katti’s built-in Desperation.
  • Using her Spd tankiness, she can easily safely get to under 50% HP to proc her weapon’s effect. Combined with Brash Assault, she becomes a pseudo-Brave user while under 50% HP.
  • As mentioned, her Attack stat is below average so she's reliant on the +Atk boon.
Lyn (Brave Heroes) Icon Portrait Lyn (Brave Heroes).png Icon Class Neutral Bow.png

  • Brave Lyn's offensive stat line of 33/35 combined with cavalry movement and bow range make her a highly oppressive metagame threat.
  • She can run multiple builds ranging from her unique bow Mulagir, Brave bow, and Firesweep Bow. All builds are potent in their own manner from Mulagir ignoring bonuses on tome users and high weapon might, having doubles and quads that can't be countered by physical melee enemies when combined with her unique B skill Sacae's Blessing, and having the Speed to use Firesweep Bow allowing her to negate counterattacks by all units including Dragons and Mages that her B skill does not cover.
  • Her above average Resistance allows her easily survive magical counterattacks and opens up build options including Atk and Def Ploy.
  • On a Cavalry centered team, Lyn is undoubtedly S+ tier and a massive presence that should be prepared against during team building.

  • While her Speed is good, it's not enough to avoid getting doubled by the fastest units, which when compounded with her awful Def makes her really weak to physical Attacks. She can mitigate this with Life and Death, though this comes at the cost of slightly compromised Resistance.

  • The Hero King possesses a balanced stat spread, with solid Attack, impressive Speed and serviceable Defenses.
  • He can run any number of sets, including Renewal + Reciprocal Aid to heal allies, but he works best with Fury due to its general boost to his statline. Swordbreaker makes him a solid duelist against Red Sword units, effectively giving him favorable matchups against Green and sword (physical units). In addition, Falchion deals significant damage to dragons. As an additional option, he can use Cancel Affinity to perform impressively against enemy Triangle Adept Nowi and Ninian.
  • While more than capable as a unit, his Speed comes up short in comparison to some of the fastest Red units, making him not always capable of doubling as many targets as Lucina.

  • Merric’s unique tome gives him the unique niche of slaying fliers, especially against the dominant blue lance fliers.
  • He also has the option, like Boey, of going a Gronnraven+ route, but he is outclassed compared to other potential Gronnraven+ users.

Michalis Icon Portrait Michalis.png Icon Class Green Axe.png

  • A bulky flier with impressive attack, HP and defense, but mediocre speed and very low Res. His playstyle and stat line is most similar to Beruka.
  • His defensive bulk and Hauteclere makes him a great user of Quick Riposte and Bonfire / Ignis enemy phase build.
  • His higher attack and legendary weapon Hauteclere give him slightly more player phase potential; however, his low speed and lack of IV potential hurt him.
  • On a flier team, he achieves A tier.
Minerva Icon Portrait Minerva.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Flying.png
S
  • Minerva has well-rounded stats with an emphasis on physical defense. Hauteclere makes up for average Attack and significantly boosts her offense by making her specials activate quicker.
  • Minerva's stats and Hauteclere afford her great flexibility in her build. Her default Life and Death makes her offense even more potent, and her naturally high defense means she still has decent physical defense after the defense drop. Fury is also a solid alternative on her to give her an all-around boost to her stat line.
  • Minerva's high Def and impressive Spd allows her to tank and survive hits well. That along with her solid Atk makes her a solid user of Vantage. Like most fliers, Hit and Run can also be taken for a safer plan of attack.
  • Special-wise, she can decide to run lower cooldown specials like Luna and proc them more often for the damage boost, or aim for higher charge cooldowns like Galeforce, which works best in conjunction with Heavy Blade.
  • Her Resistance is her main drawback, a weakness that Life and Death exacerbates. Minerva actually risks being OHKOed by even neutral mages, so she should be wary around them.
  • Minerva benefits greatly from flier buffs, bumping her up to S+ tier.
Mist Icon Portrait Mist.png Icon Class Neutral Staff.png

  • Narcian is extremely well-rounded, which is unfortunate because it results in him being rather mediocre all-around as well. He can't even rely on IVs.
  • His stats means he fails to excel in any particular role compared to other flying axe users. Michalis and Beruka excel more as defensive tanks, Camilla's access to IVs and better stat line (namely Spd and Res) make her a better hybrid tank and anti-blue mage Emerald Axe/Distant Counter user over Narcian, and he does not have the power to compare to Cherche or Minerva.
  • On a flier emblem team, his performance places him in A- tier.

  • The fact that he's locked to neutral IVs is a serious detriment as well.

Niles Icon Portrait Niles.png Icon Class Neutral Bow.png

  • With an Attack stat of 25, Niles might seem like a hopelessly weak Archer, but the saucy Archer has a few tricks up his sleeve. For starters, his Speed of 34 is impressive and he's got an especially great Resistance stat.
  • He's dependant on the Brave Bow+ and Iceberg for damage. His damage is weak, but after his special is charged he can dish out some good damage.
  • Additionally, his high Res means he can effectively make use of Defense Ploy to weaken enemies to let him hit harder / use it as a support debuff for other teammates to more easily take out opponents.
  • His Defense is awful and offensively, he's effectively overshadowed by other archers with better and consistent Attack/Speed stat lines (eg. Cordelia (Bridal Blessings)).

  • Her mediocre Attack and Defense are her weak points, and she has a vulnerability to Dragon Slayer weapons.

Nino Icon Portrait Nino.png Icon Class Green Tome.png

  • Her lower defenses does mean she struggles even against the likes of Reinhardt, but her high Speed also acts defensively by preventing enemies from doubling her.

Nowi Icon Portrait Nowi.png Icon Class Blue Beast.png
Icon Move Infantry.png

  • Once a dominant force, Nowi has fallen with the emergence of Blue/Greens (Notably blue and green mages) as the meta over the previous abundance of Red Swords. Still, her excellent statline and great coverage makes her a dependable unit.
  • Nowi's standard set remains the same, utilizing Triangle Adept/Fury and Quick Riposte to completely dominate Red units and perform well against Blue units in both melee and ranged combat. Being an infantry unit with high HP, Nowi is a great option to inherit Infantry Pulse.
  • Her mediocre Speed makes her prone to being doubled by the metagame's faster units, and her Dragon Slayer weakness means that Falchion users can potentially overcome her.

Oboro Icon Portrait Oboro.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Infantry.png

  • Oboro is most easily compared to Lukas, but with less Atk, HP and Def in exchange for Spd and Res. However, her Spd and Res are still mediocre at best.
  • She has two viable builds, full player phase offense with Brave Lance+, Death Blow and Bonfire, and enemy phase defense. With a +4 boon and Fury, Oboro reaches 33 Speed, which is enough for her to avoid being doubled by middling Speed melee bruisers. Deft Harpoon is a very solid choice to supplement her Speed even further, among her other stats. Killer Lance is another effective option on this build that allows her to deal heavy damage even to green enemies with Bonfire. Increased Speed and Res compared to Lukas allow her to survive attacks that he cannot.
  • Her ideal sets are Brave or Quick Riposte focused, but her decreased HP, Atk and Def lessen her performance against physical enemies compared to Lukas. However, her higher Speed can allow her to take less damage in certain matchups.

Odin Icon Portrait Odin.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png

  • Seth doesn't quite live up to his impressive FE8 self, as he's merely an average mounted unit with well-rounded stats outside of Resistance.
  • Brave Sword+ builds are ideal, giving him the finishing power to KO with most units, and it synergizes with his high movement.
  • Low Resistance aside, he faces competition from Cain who is simply the better unit.
  • On a cavalry team he belongs in S tier, like most sword cavaliers.

  • An archer with exceptional Speed, below average Attack and below average defenses.
  • She's pretty much good one thing; Quad Attacking with the Brave Bow+. With Life and Death, Desperation and Luna, she makes for an effective assassin, usually capable of taking out most targets in one round.
  • While powerful, she still misses out on a few notable targets that other Brave Bow users do not due to their higher Atk, and she's ultimately inferior to Cordelia, who has comparable Speed but is significantly stronger.

Shanna Icon Portrait Shanna.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • Shanna is a fast, decently bulky lance flier with average attack.
  • Impressive base Speed at 35 allows her to run Firesweep Lance+ very well. It also prevents many doubles when running a counter based build.
  • 29 base res allows her to abuse Defense Ploy and decently run Distant Counter
  • Her average Attack makes her more reliant on specials to finish off enemies.
  • On a flier team, she belongs in S tier.
Sharena Icon Portrait Sharena.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

Her unique weapon, Fensalir, sports 16 Might and possesses a built-in Threaten Atk 2 - a useful skill if not in every battle.
  • While well-rounded, she struggles at standing out. Her inability to be merged and lack of varying natures hurts her even more.

  • Shines best in a Killer Axe+, Distant Counter, Quick Riposte, <Def/Res special of choice>, where she can utilize her high defenses to boost her average Atk as well as counterattack twice without needing to rely on her mediocre Spd stat.
  • On an armor-oriented team, Sheena rises to S+ tier.

Sonya Icon Portrait Sonya.png Icon Class Green Tome.png

  • Sonya is a green tome hero sporting a stat line somewhere in between Julia’s and Soren’s with solid attack, serviceable speed and above average Res. She also comes with the legendary tome Dark Excalibur which is essentially a Wo Dao+ tome.
  • Despite her tome’s appeal, its potential is hindered by Sonya's merely serviceable speed. Typical users of Wo Dao+ excel due to their high speed and their ability to reliably activate Wo Dao+ in almost all their encounters.
  • Sonya’s stats create a split in her role identity. For example, if she runs a Gronnblade+ build, other Gronnblade+ users (eg. Nino, Soren) outclass her. When compared to Julia, her lower HP, Def and Res mean she loses to key meta threats such as Hector (on his counterattack) and Quickened Pulse Moonbow Reinhardt. On a lesser note, Sonya also cannot take out dragons as cleanly as Julia.

Sophia Icon Portrait Sophia.png Icon Class Red Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Sophia has impressive Attack and above average defenses, but she's held back by her atrocious Speed.
  • Rauðrraven gave Sophia niche in the metagame as a strong counter to Bow units while also checking Green units. The introduction of Cancel Affinity has turned Triangle Adept 3 into a slight liability against bow units, lowering Sophia's overall effectiveness against.
  • Regardless, she should still succeed with Fury instead, though keep her limitations in mind. Her Speed is a major weakpoint, and she's generally inferior to stronger red mages.

Soren Icon Portrait Soren.png Icon Class Green Tome.png

  • True to his status as the perfectly average everyman from Awakening, Stahl's stats don't impress. His Attack is serviceable and his Defense is above average, though his Speed and Resistance are below average.
  • He can stick with the Ruby Sword to better deal with Green units or equip the Wo Dao for more power. He can also use a Brave Sword adequately.
  • Regardless of what he does, he still winds up being outclassed by most Red units.
  • Even on cavalry teams, he only rises to A- tier at best.
Subaki Icon Portrait Subaki.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • Subaki has a rather odd stat arrangement, with near exceptional Speed and Defense, but mediocre Attack and very low Resistance.
  • Fortunately, his stat arrangements makes him a speedy wall, capable of withstanding powerful hits and retaliating in kind. Sapphire Lance and Quick Riposte make him a hard counter to physical Red units.
  • He's very reliant on specials for actual damage due to his mediocre Attack, and his Resistance is a blatant weak point.
  • On flier teams, he rises to A+ tier since his Attack can be patched up on those teams.
Sully Icon Portrait Sully.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • Her impressive Speed and above average Resistance do not make up for her mediocre Attack, which seriously limits her potential as a combat unit.
  • There's very little Sully can run to stand out as a unit, though Fury is highly recommended for its statline boost, and Sapphire Lance and Swordbreaker at least allows her to tear through Red sword units.
  • She's mostly outclassed by other cavalry units due to her aforementioned shortcomings. Most notably, Mathilda serves the role of enemy phase blue anti mage mounted unit better, due to higher Res and Atk.
  • On cavalry teams, she rises to A-. More useable, but still generally mediocre.
Takumi Icon Portrait Takumi.png Icon Class Neutral Bow.png

  • With solid attacking stats and average Defense, Takumi is a dependable unit. His Resistance is very low, however.
  • Unfortunately, using Takumi at his maximum potential requires ditching both Fujin Yumi and Close Counter for a generic Brave Bow+ with Life and Death. Still his, his performance as a Brave Bow+ user should not be underestimated, as he dishes out quite a bit of damage.
  • Without Close Counter, Takumi's enemy phase is rather poor. He's the best out of the archers that share his stat arrangement, though he still plays second fiddle to Cordelia.

Tana Icon Portrait Tana.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • Tana flies into battle with a top class stat spread of 34/36, putting her on par with Cordelia.
  • She dominates with both the Brave Lance+ and Firesweep Lance+, giving her obscenely powerful offense and safety respectively. Additionally, she comes with a unique weapon by default - Vidofnir - a 16 Mt Lance that grants her +7 Def when attacked by physical melee weapon users. Combined with skills like Close Def and Quick Riposte, she is capable of potent enemy phase tanking, providing her with increased versatility.
  • Outside of her conventional weakness to bows, she's not really lacking as a unit. Her below average defenses are greatly mitigated by her mobility and the ease at which she avoids damage (eg. By running Hit and Run as her B-slot).
  • On a flier team, she remains in S+ rank.
Tharja Icon Portrait Tharja.png Icon Class Red Tome.png

  • Tharja has solid offensive stats and an unusually very low Resistance stat for a mage unit.
  • She works splendidly with her Rauðrblade+, with skills like Life and Death and Fury to further bolster her offensive potential. Red Tomebreaker massively improves her matchup against fellow Red tome users as well. Desperation and Swordbreaker are a further options, since R Tomebreaker is less commonly useful than Tomebreakers of other colors and Sword users can be quite fast and therefore hard to kill.
  • Her defenses are rather meager, but her HP can make a difference in certain matchups.

Tiki (Adult) Icon Portrait Tiki (Adult).png Icon Class Red Beast.png

  • Equipping her with Triangle Adept and Green Tomebreaker makes her a terrific check to Green units. She can also use Quick Riposte to gain coverage against fellow Red units as well, though her effectiveness against Green mages lessens.
  • Her low Speed makes doubling her effortless, and her Resistance is a bit of a weak point.

  • Her Speed while serviceable, is still too low to double and avoid being doubled by faster units. This puts her at extreme risk to Falchion users, who OHKO or ORHKO her.

Titania Icon Portrait Titania.png Icon Class Green Axe.png

Guard is another option to prevent Reinhardt's Moonbow from activating. Replacing her Emerald Axe for Melon Crusher widens her usage.
  • Her matchups against units her build is not specialized against is subpar, and she's reliant on cavalry buffs in order to double enemies.
  • On cavalry teams, Titania rises to A+ tier.
Tobin Icon Portrait Tobin.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • This doesn't prevent her from doing well in combat, as equipping a Blarblade+ can make up up for her Attack in a big way, giving her OHKO ability when you factor in buffs and Death Blow.
  • She's pretty reliant on buffs to function as otherwise she's rather lackluster.

  • His stats and legendary weapon make him a fantastic hero for a Quick Riposte and Bonfire / Ignis build.
  • His low Res makes him very susceptible to mages in a currently mage-dominated meta. Also, his lower Atk compared to other Distant Counter Red Swords such as Ryoma and Ike means he isn’t one-shotting enemies as reliably as the other two.

She can immediately make use out of her base skillset, as Death Blow gives her the exact amount of fire power needed to annihilate most units in the game. She can also make excellent use out of the Wo Dao due to her stat line.

Drag Back and Hit and Run can be used on offensive mounted units for flanking and evading danger, but terrain impediments like tree tiles hurt this approach.
  • His defenses are evenly spread out compared to Peri who focuses more on resistance.

A
  • Limited time unit from the Spring Festival event.

Icon Move Cavalry.png
A
  • A troubadour with what could be considered the best defensive healer stat spread, with 35 hp, 33 speed, 22 def, and 29 res.
  • Being mounted is a huge advantage for healers.
  • Outside of her low attack stat, Clarine has amazing speed while not giving up on defensive stats completely like Elise or Maria.
  • On a cavalry based team, she would remain at A rank. Cavalry buffs do not benefit her a significant amount, due to her low offensive stats.
Clarisse Icon Portrait Clarisse.png Icon Class Neutral Bow.png
Icon Move Infantry.png

  • 37/31/34/25/20 stat line makes her very similar to Klein.
  • Her decent offensive stat line makes her a candidate for Brave Bow+ build.
  • However, she is outshined by archers above her with better stat lines. Her inability to have IVs hampers her compared to other archers above her.

Clive Icon Portrait Clive.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A-
  • Clive specializes in Attack and Defense, having competent stats in both, but is rather is lacking in Speed and Resistance.
  • His best bet is making use out of the Brave Lance+ builds for noticeably more offense.
  • Struggles to stand out in a sea of blue lance cavalier's who do his job but better (mostly due to having IVs + better stat arrangements).
  • On a Cavalry based team he belongs in A tier.
Cordelia Icon Portrait Cordelia.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Flying.png
S+
Cordelia (Bridal Blessings) Icon Portrait Cordelia (Bridal Blessings).png Icon Class Neutral Bow.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
Corrin (F) Icon Portrait Corrin (F).png Icon Class Blue Beast.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • A blue dragon with an unusual combination of low Attack and Resistance, but impressive Speed and Defense.
Corrin (F) (Nohrian Summer) Icon Portrait Corrin (F) (Nohrian Summer).png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Flying.png
A+
  • Only flying blue tome in the game and comes with impressive Speed and average Attack, letting her run Blarblade+ very well.
  • Has above average Resistance which is great for dueling other mages.

Delthea Icon Portrait Delthea.png Icon Class Blue Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S

Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Impressive Attack with above average Defense and HP alongside a slightly below average Speed and low Res make Donnel a capable frontline lance unit.

Icon Move Armored.png
A+
  • Armored unit that currently boasts the highest Def in the game with exceptional HP and serviceable Attack and Speed.
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • While her Attack leaves much to be desired, her respectable bulk and impressive Speed provide her with great survivability.
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A
  • Eldigan is a slow, physically tanky cavalry Red Sword with respectable Attack and the legendary killer weapon Mystletainn.
Elise Icon Portrait Elise.png Icon Class Neutral Staff.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A
  • Healer with serviceable Speed, Attack and solid resistance.
Elise (Nohrian Summer) Icon Portrait Elise (Nohrian Summer).png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S
  • Green tome with the highest offensive stat total with exceptional attack and impressive speed of 36/34. Comparable to Nino.
  • Very low defense and below average resistance means her ability to tank hits on both sides is rather weak.
  • Due to the above points, she is arguably the best green mage to run Life and Death on as tanking a hit with her isn’t well advised.

Eliwood Icon Portrait Eliwood.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A
  • Red cavalry unit with average offensive stats, impressive Resistance and a legendary weapon Durandal which has a built-in Death Blow effect.

Est Icon Portrait Est.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Flying.png
S
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Green dragon with solid all-around stats, most noticeably her HP, Attack, and Resistance.

Faye Icon Portrait Faye.png Icon Class Neutral Bow.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • She bulky stats for an archer and average Attack, but suffers from very poor Speed which means she tends to get doubled.

Felicia Icon Portrait Felicia.png Icon Class Neutral Shuriken.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • A dagger unit with exceptional Speed and Resistance, but abysmal Attack and Defense.
  • Felicia serves the role of a specialized anti-mage dagger, similarly to Niles among archers. Most of her damage output will stem from Specials like Iceberg or Glacies.

Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • Red Sword with above average Resistance and exceptional Speed but lacking in the Attack and Defense department.
Icon Move Flying.png
A-
  • Lance flier who has below average Attack, Speed and Defense, but impressive HP and Res.
Frederick Icon Portrait Frederick.png Icon Class Green Axe.png

A+
  • Mounted cavalry unit with impressive 35 Attack and 36 Defense, making him essentially cavalry Cherche.
  • His high Attack means he can effectively use Brave Axe+ as an offensive build. Unlike Cherche though, being a cavalry unit is a bane due to the limited mobility compared to fliers.
  • His low Resistance and Speed means most mages can make short work of him.
  • On a cavalry teams, he is propelled to S tier.

  • His exceptional Speed, however, makes up for his Attack and he begins to achieve matchup wins nearly equivalent to Kagero with a Poison Dagger+ build due to his ability to double.
  • His above average HP also means he has more bulk as well, but is still susceptible to heavy damage due to his low Defense and Resistance.

  • Unfortunately, Gordin's Speed makes it easy for foes to double him, mitigating his high Defense, and his Resistance makes him an easy target for mage units.
  • Generally outdone by bow users with better Attack and Speed.
Gray Icon Portrait Gray.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • Gray fits into the bulky Red Sword hero category, with impressive Attack and serviceable Speed, backed by above average physical defense.
  • Similar to units like Ogma and Chrom, he works best with a Brave Sword+ build, which grants him impressive ORKO potential. His well rounded stats afford him a great deal of flexibility, meaning he can also run several builds (such as Fury and Life and Death) depending on your preference
  • His Speed falls short of great and he faces competition from Ogma, who boasts greater Speed and physical durability. His Resistance is also a weak point.

  • He has been a dominant force in the metagame since the very beginning, owing much to possessing the Distant Counter skill alongside Armads, which grants him a built-in Quick Riposte 2.
  • Vantage and Bonfire are commonly chosen options for his build. The synergy between these skills, Distant Counter and Armads guarantees that Hector deals large amounts of damage. Defense team Hector can also be equipped with Cancel Affinity to combat Ruby Sword Olivia and Raven / Triangle Adept using mages.
  • Hector is an absolute staple on Armor teams due to his stats, unique weapon and damage potential. Therefore, he safely secures the coveted S+ rank.

  • Can run the same build as Eldigan with Slaying Edge+, Bonfire/Ignis, Distant Counter/Fury, Quick Riposte. His lack of movement compared to Eldigan, however, is a huge bane against Hinata.
  • The abundance of Red Swords also contribute to Hinata’s lower tier due to the sheer amount of competition above him.
  • Additionally in the current meta, there is little need for a low Res, low Spd infantry melee.
Hinoka Icon Portrait Hinoka.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • Can run the same Brave Lance+ and Firesweep Lance+ sets as the other 35 Attack Lance Fliers; however, is generally outclassed by Cordelia in both these sets.
  • Hinoka falls behind Est due to her inability to run Defense Ploy which not only increases Est’s offensive potential, but can also be used as a debuff support skill for the rest of her team. Regardless, she's more than capable as a unit.
  • On a flier team, Hinoka rises to S tier.

  • Fury and Vantage / Quick Riposte reinforce his tanking ability, allowing him to take hits and dish them back out. He can also make use out of Triangle Adept in order to better counter green mages.
  • Ike's Resistance is abysmal, and his Speed is somewhat lacking for a red sword unit. That said, this is of little concern in practice, since he will usually perform his given duties without too much trouble.
Ike (Brave Heroes) Icon Portrait Ike (Brave Heroes).png Icon Class Green Axe.png

  • With his exceptional Attack and Defense, coupled with Urvan's damage reduction capabilities, Brave Ike is a metagame defining threat.
  • Steady Breath in conjunction with Urvan makes Ike absolutely amazing at dueling melee heroes, as it grants him 4 defense when initiated on as well as doubling his special charge gain.
  • With his low Speed and poor Resistance, Ike dies relatively easily Red mages. Green blade mages will kill Ike with relative ease as well due to his low Resistance, should he opt for Quick Riposte over Beorc's Blessing.
Innes Icon Portrait Innes.png Icon Class Neutral Bow.png

  • As per usual, he makes excellent use out of the Brave Bow+ build. With a statline nearly comparable to Bride Cordelia, he can absolutely terrorize the battlefield. He can also make good use out of Nidhogg, though it's primarily the budget option.
  • Outside of bottom class Defense and slight inferiority to Bride Cordelia, Innes doesn't really have any notable flaws.

  • His default kit is not well suited to the metagame, as debuffing is significantly less effective than outright killing targets (and arguably detrimental, due to the presence of skills Wings of Mercy/Vantage/etc).
  • As a Poison Dagger user, he is strictly worse than nearly every Dagger user due to his mediocre Attack.

Jagen Icon Portrait Jagen.png Icon Class Blue Lance.png

  • He has best-in-class Resistance for a cavalry unit, giving him extra high magical bulk. His Attack, Speed, and Defense on the other hand are all lackluster.
  • With the introduction of Defense Ploy, Jagen's resistance drags him out of C-tier. With +Atk and Defense Ploy proc, he can have an effective Atk of 36, a solid enough Atk to run Brave Lance+. Defense Ploy also lets him act as a support for other teammates by debuffing enemies from afar.
  • As a cavalry unit, his increased movement means he has more flexibility to position for Defense Ploy and also to flank enemy units.

Laslow Icon Portrait Laslow.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • Laslow is a Red Sword with formidable Defense and HP, but lackluster Resistance and Speed.
  • With an Attack stat of 35, this makes him a solid Brave Sword+ candidate.
  • Unfortunately, with the introduction of Gray, Laslow ranks one tier lower than him due to Gray’s better Speed.

Legion Icon Portrait Legion.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Legion is entirely focused on offense, with an impressive 36 Attack/35 Speed stat spread. His defenses are quite lacking in comparison, however.
  • Legion is built for making use out of Brave Axe+ builds, with skills like Death Blow giving him the ability to cut down opponents of all kinds.
  • His terrible defenses result in him having a terrible enemy phase.
  • He can't have beneficial IVs, though that doesn't really preclude him from succeeding as a unit.
Leo Icon Portrait Leo.png Icon Class Red Tome.png
Icon Move Cavalry.png
A
  • The Sorcerous Prince has an unfortunate stat spread, with below average Attack and an abysmal Speed stat.
  • His defenses are good, but unfortunately mitigated by his poor Speed, leaving him vulnerable to being doubled.
  • A Raudrblade+ and Cavalry support allows him to reach his full potential, giving him the power needed to OHKO. On such teams, Leo is S tier due to his impressive range and KO ability.

Leo (Nohrian Summer) Icon Portrait Leo (Nohrian Summer).png Icon Class Red Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • Sporting average attack, impressive resistance, and with the use of Quick Riposte, Leo makes a great enemy phase mage duelist.
  • Lack of good player phase due to below average speed hinders Leo greatly. His average attack also means he won’t one-shot much.
  • His awful defense means he does poorly against physical Distant Counter users.

Leon Icon Portrait Leon.png Icon Class Neutral Bow.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S
  • Has 34 attack, the second highest bow user attack in the game, serviceable 30 Speed, above average Defense and HP, with awful Res.
  • His second highest attack for a bow user makes him an instant candidate for Brave Bow+. His lower Speed does affect his matchups though, but he still performs nearly identical to other A+ bow users.

Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • With exceptional Attack and impressive Resistance, Lilina is your definition of a magical tank.

Lucina (Brave Heroes) Icon Portrait Lucina (Brave Heroes).png Icon Class Blue Lance.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S

Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Spring Lucina is an exclusive speedy blue mage with below average Attack and meager defenses.

Icon Move Infantry.png
B+

Icon Move Cavalry.png
A-
  • With an impressive Attack stat and solid physical Defense, Luke is a capable mounted Sword unit.
  • Brave Sword+ and Death Blow give him impressive ORKO ability. With his high movement, he makes for a great assassin.
  • He's reliant on cavalry buffs to shine as a unit, otherwise he simply isn't strong / fast enough.
  • On cavalry based teams, Luke rises to S tier.
Lyn Icon Portrait Lyn.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • Lyn is a Red Sword boasting below average Attack, average Defense, Resistance and HP, but with an exceptional Spd stat of 37.
Icon Move Cavalry.png
S+
Lyn (Bridal Blessings) Icon Portrait Lyn (Bridal Blessings).png Icon Class Neutral Staff.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • Lyn is a fast healer, with a below average Attack stat and mediocre defenses.
  • Lyn functions as a dedicated healer, providing Attack support when necessary. She makes for a decent candidate for Wrathful Staff, and more importantly, her impressive Speed makes it difficult for opponents to double her, somewhat mitigating her low durability.
  • The skill limitations on healers and limits what she can do offensively.

A+
  • Celica's right hand girl hits hard, takes magical hits like a champ and has serviceable Speed.
  • Typical for a Blue Mage, she excels with Blarblade tome, dealing massive to anyone unfortunate enough to be targeted by her.
  • While her Speed is good, it's not enough to avoid getting doubled by the fastest units, which when compounded with her awful Def makes her really weak to physical Attacks. She can mitigate this with Life and Death, though this comes at the cost of slightly compromised Resistance.

Maria Icon Portrait Maria.png Icon Class Neutral Staff.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
B+
  • Minerva's Sister (seriously, that's her title?) has impressive Speed and Resistance, very low physical defense and below average Attack.
  • Wrathful Staff can give her actual offense, but don't expect her to do a lot of damage.
  • She doesn't really stand out as a healer, but she can be put to decent use as a somewhat speedy support healer, similar to Lyn.

Marth Icon Portrait Marth.png Icon Class Red Sword.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A
  • The Hero King possesses a balanced stat spread, with solid Attack, impressive Speed and serviceable Defenses.

  • Lance cavalry hero with exceptional Res, similar to Jagen’s stat line, but with more serviceable Spd alongside better but still mediocre Atk.
  • She fills the niche as a magic counter, which does have its benefits in a mage-dominant meta. With Defense Ploy, she can also give herself a little more offensive edge that she lacks with her base stats.
  • However in general, her other stats are middling and leave much to be desired.
  • In a cavalry team, she moves up to A+.
Matthew Icon Portrait Matthew.png Icon Class Neutral Shuriken.png

  • He's poor at fighting mages, which is the biggest appeal to using dagger units in the first place.
  • As a Poison Dagger user, he is outright outclassed by Gaius, who boasts better Speed and Attack.

Merric Icon Portrait Merric.png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • Merric has an odd stat line for a mage with mediocre Atk and very low Res while having serviceable Spd, average Def and and impressive HP pool.

Icon Move Flying.png
A-
  • A bulky flier with impressive attack, HP and defense, but mediocre speed and very low Res.
Icon Move Infantry.png

  • A typical healer with unimpressive stats. High Resistance, mediocre Speed and Attack and very low Defense.
  • There are a countless healers who outclass her due to her mediocre stat distribution. Regardless, your best bet at making use out of Mist would be equipping her Wrathful Staff.

Narcian Icon Portrait Narcian.png Icon Class Green Axe.png
Icon Move Flying.png
B+

Icon Portrait Navarre.png Icon Class Red Sword.png

  • With good speed and serviceable attack, Navarre is another speedy Red Sword to add to the pack.
  • Works best with a Wo Dao+ build.
  • Useable, but generally outclassed by other Red Sword units with better stat distribution with the same niche (eg. Athena).
  • The fact that he's locked to neutral IVs is a serious detriment as well.

Niles Icon Portrait Niles.png Icon Class Neutral Bow.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A-
  • With an Attack stat of 25, Niles might seem like a hopelessly weak Archer, but the saucy Archer has a few tricks up his sleeve.
Ninian Icon Portrait Ninian.png Icon Class Blue Beast.png

  • Triangle Adept is by far her best A-passive, granting her the ability to act as a solid check to Red units. She can opt for skills like Swordbreaker and Quick Riposte to further improve her matchup against Red units.
  • Her mediocre Attack and Defense are her weak points, and she has a vulnerability to Dragon Slayer weapons.

Nino Icon Portrait Nino.png Icon Class Green Tome.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
S
  • Sporting low HP, Defense, and average Resistance, Nino makes up for all this by boasting an impressive 33 Attack and and even more exceptional 36 Speed.
  • Nino’s offensive stat line makes her a strong user of her default tome Gronnblade+.
  • Her lower defenses does mean she struggles even against the likes of Reinhardt, but her high Speed also acts defensively by preventing enemies from doubling her.

Nowi Icon Portrait Nowi.png Icon Class Blue Beast.png
Icon Move Infantry.png
A+
  • Once a dominant force, Nowi has fallen with the emergence of Blue/Greens (Notably blue and green mages) as the meta over the previous abundance of Red Swords.

A-
  • Oboro is most easily compared to Lukas, but with less Atk, HP and Def in exchange for Spd and Res.
