|A build intended to improve Ike's overall defensive performance with the help of his legendary weapon, Urvan.
For his IVs: +SPD is taken for defensive purposes as at 31 speed and a speed buff he can avoid doubles from a considerable amount of faster units. +ATK allows him to reach a very high threshold to finish enemies more quickly. With a +RES and Urvan he can survive Reinhardt and other popular mages more easily. A neutral nature doesn't hurt his performance too much and avoids hitting any stat. A HP bane is taken as it can be easily fixed with the Sacred Seal HP +3.
Distant Counter is chosen for his A slot as it, together with Urvan, gives Ike better coverage by allowing him to deal with ranged units more easily. His default Beorc's Blessing is taken for more general utility on his matchups, allowing him to deal with fliers and cavalry (especially Reinhardt) more safely. Alternatively, Quick Riposte 3 helps patch his average speed and finish enemies more cleanly when defending.
As for Specials, an offensive special such as Bonfire or Moonbow is recommended since after he's engaged upon, he can then retaliate with a special-boosted counter attack, punishing those who attempt to take him out with heavy damage or a KO.
His default Threaten Def 3 is fine and can help him patch the potential liability of lacking a stat boosting skill on his A slot. Panic Ploy 3 can be used for the same reason and allows him to deal with buffed threats such as infantry -blade tomes,that are not affected by Beorc's Blessing, much better when active. Assist Skills are flexible. The Sacred Seal of choice is HP +3 for survivability reason and to cover the HP bane.--Bentermuler (talk) 16:40, 31 August 2017
