Description | Grants Spd+3. If unit is not adjacent to an ally, grants Atk/Spd+6 during combat. At start of turn, if unit is adjacent to only beast or dragon allies or if unit is not adjacent to any ally, unit transforms (otherwise, unit reverts). If unit transforms, grants Atk+2, and if unit initiates combat, inflicts Atk/Def-4 on foe during combat and foe cannot make a follow-up attack. |
Notes[ | ]
- Has the same effect as Atk/Spd Solo 3.
- The stat increase that can be applied by Brazen Cat Fang is considered a temporary buff.
- When equipped with skills such as Beast Sense 4 and Beast N Trace 3, a Beast unit will transform out of combat on turn 1 regardless of whether the transformation conditions of the user's weapon are met.
- Skills such as Beast Sense 4 and Beast N Trace 3 will also keep the unit from reverting from their Beast form.
- The Atk+2 granted by Brazen Cat Fang when the user transforms is a stat boost, not a bonus.
- "If unit initiates combat" means if the user starts combat during the player phase. The unit does not need to deal damage, nor be the first to attack.
- However, if the effect is applied after combat, the unit must also survive it to fulfill this condition.
- The stat decrease that can be applied by Brazen Cat Fang is considered a temporary debuff.
- Brazen Cat Fang can prevent the foe from making a standard follow-up attack.
- As a general rule, if a unit is both prevented from making, and guaranteed to make a standard follow-up attack, the effects cancel out, and the Spd difference is used (including effects that alter this difference).
- Brazen Cat Fang will not prevent a unit with a "unit attacks twice" effect from performing the 2 consecutive attacks, but the the unit will not be able to perform a standard follow-up attack.
- Brazen Cat Fang will not prevent the additional follow-up attack of 【Potent Follow X%】.
- A foe with effects such as Mag. Null Follow or Null Follow-Up will neutralize the follow-up preventing effect of Brazen Cat Fang.
- "If unit transforms" refers to out of combat transformations of Beast units. Transformations during combat will not trigger the stat boost, temporary debuffs, and follow-up preventing effects.
- However, if the effect(s) apply after combat, the unit must also survive combat to fulfill this condition.
Upgrades[ | ]
Can be upgraded in the Weapon Refinery. For a list of other such weapons, see list of upgradable weapons.
Notes[ | ]
- "If unit initiates combat" means if the user starts combat during the player phase. The unit does not need to deal damage, nor be the first to attack.
- However, if the effect is applied after combat, the unit must also survive it to fulfill this condition.
- Effects that are neutralized by Refined Brazen Cat Fang:
- Effects active on the unit that prevent their follow-up attacks, such as Windsweep 3, Watersweep 3, or Weaving Fighter.
- Effects active on the foe that prevent the unit's follow-up attacks such as Steady Impact, Vengeful Fighter 4, or Foe Cannot Follow-Up.
- The damage boosting effect from activating a Special is a fixed +10 that ignores the foe's Def or Res when calculating the damage boost, and can be reduced by damage reduction effects such as Armored Beacon, Dragon Wall 3, and Dodge.
- The added damage will also affect area-of-effect Specials such as Rising Flame and Growing Thunder.
- A foe equipped with Embla's Ward, Múspellflame, Niðavellir Axiom, or Gold Perfection will neutralize all sources of damage during combat except the minimum 1 damage from Umbra Burst weapons.
- For more information, see Damage calculation.
- The "Special cooldown charge +X" effect will stack with the "Special cooldown charge -X" effect.
- For example, if a unit is affected by both Guard and Special Cooldown Charge +1, the effects will stack and the cooldown will go down without penalty or bonus.
- If the effect is active, the unit will gain 2 charges from both attacking and being attacked.
- If used alongside another source of "Special cooldown charge +X", only the higher of the two charge increases will apply.
- This means that if a unit has two "Special cooldown charge +1" effects from two different sources, the battle will play out as if only one "Special cooldown charge +1" effect is active.
- Skills such as Spd/Def Tempo 4 and Spendy Scimitar will neutralize effects that grant "Special cooldown charge +X" to the foe.
- The "Special cooldown charge -X" effect will stack with the "Special cooldown charge +X" effect.
- For example, if a unit is affected by both Guard and Special Cooldown Charge +1, the effects will stack and the cooldown will go down without penalty or bonus.
- If used alongside another source of "Special cooldown charge -X", only the higher of the two charge reductions will apply.
- This means that if a unit has two "Special cooldown charge -1" effects from two different sources, the battle will play out as if only one "Special cooldown charge -1" effect is active.
- Skills such as Spd/Def Tempo 4 and Whirling Grace will neutralize effects that inflict "Special cooldown charge -X" on its user.
- "If unit transforms" refers to out of combat transformations of Beast units. Transformations during combat will not trigger the Special cooldown charge -1.
- However, if the effect(s) apply after combat, the unit must also survive combat to fulfill this condition.
- The calculation of "spaces from start position to end position" counts the total number of spaces from the initiator's starting position to the end position before combat.
- The calculation includes spaces occupied by an ally with the 【Pathfinder】 effect.
- The start position used in the calculation references the initiator's starting position after being moved by sources of unit movement such as Reposition.
- The damage-reduction is calculated after offensive Specials and damage boosting effects such as Arcane Lúin and Dominance.
- If a skill such as Miracle or Everliving Domain can trigger, the damage-reduction effect will not trigger and the user will still survive with only 1 HP.
- Percentage-based damage-reduction effects stack multiplicatively, unlike interactions related to the weapon-triangle, such as Triangle Adept and the weapon-triangle advantage boost.
- For example, if both Buffer 4 and Godlike Reflexes activate, the maximum total damage-reduction is 70% instead of 90%, since the two skills reduce the damage to (1 − 50%) × (1 − 40%) = 30% of the original damage.
- For more information, see Damage calculation.
