Effective against (also known as effectiveness[1]) is a keyword, often found in skill descriptions, which means the calculated attack value against certain types of enemies is granted a +50% (×1.5) multiplier, before being mitigated by the enemy's Def or Res stat.

Bows, for example, are effective against Icon Move Flying.png flying type units, while Icon Class Red Sword.png Falchion weapons are effective against  dragonstone users.

Some skills, such as Icon Skill Weapon.png Breath of Blight, negate certain weapon effectiveness bonuses, such as from Icon Class Red Sword.png Exalted Falchion. Other skills, such as Iotes Shield.png Iote's Shield, will negate movement type effectiveness bonuses, such as from bows. Yet others, such as Icon Class Red Tome.png Loptous, cause skills effective on other units to also be effective on the wielder.

The passive skill Divine Fang.png Divine Fang, grants the Status Effect Effective Against Dragons.png Effective against dragons status effect to adjacent allies, allowing those allies to deal effective damage to dragon foes. However, The effective damage applied by Status Effect Effective Against Dragons.png Effective against dragons does not stack with existing effective damage. In order to avoid effective damage from a foe with Status Effect Effective Against Dragons.png Effective against dragons and an effective weapon, a unit must neutralize all sources of effectiveness. For example, if Icon Class Blue Lance.png Slaying Spear+ is also effective against a unit, that unit must neutralize "effective against armored" and "effective against dragons".
