Celeritous Cain

Cain is a strong red, in cavalry teams with buffs he is easily able to overwhelm enemies, but even without buffs he is a force to be reckoned with. Swift Sparrow allows Cain a boost to his attack and speed while keeping his defenses intact. Death Blow only helps Cain more than Swift Sparrow does if Cain is not receiving cavalry buffs. Dragon Fang will proc every time he doubles an enemy that is capable of counter attacking. Hone Cavalry is perfect for team compositions, and Cain should always be with a cavalry team, both giving and receiving cavalry buffs. Reposition is always a solid assist, Cain being cavalry makes him very maneuverable, allowing him to rescue units in need. His B skill could be any of several things, Swordbreaker is the best for having him smite things and helps him deal with reds, but keeping Wings of Mercy 3 is good for shenanigans, other situational B skills may also be considered. However Desperation is NOT recommended as it's activation would immediately stop Cain from using Dragon Fang consistently.

While there are plenty of units capable of running quad builds Cain has the advantage of being able to receive cavalry buffs as well as having a move range of 3, giving you a reason to consider him instead another hero.

Budget Cain

To start, we take Death Blow 3.png Death Blow 3. As mentioned in the Celeritious Cain build, Death Blow is the better option when Cain does not have Cavalry buffs to rely on to buff his Atk and Spd, thus we go for raw damage output on the first two Brave hits rather than trying to go for quads.

For the B-passive, a player can either choose to take Axebreaker 3.png Axebreaker 3 or Swordbreaker 3.png Swordbreaker 3. This is because without Axebreaker, he fails to kill green threats such as Amelia and Hector and requires Axebreaker to finish them off. On the other hand, Swordbreaker allows him to handle Red Sword threats like Ryoma and Ike who can potentially KO him without. Which of the two passives you choose should depend on what your other teammates can cover that Cain cannot.

His C-passive is flexible. The passive he takes here should be dependent on what buffs his teammates require.

We take Icon Skill Special.png Luna as our special due to it being a 3-charge skill and its synergy with Brave weapons as well as the 50% Def reduction allowing Cain to take down tanky enemies he normally could not when it procs.

Finally, for his sacred seal, like most Brave builds, more attack never hurts so Attack Plus 1.png Attack +1 is the seal of choice.

Defensive Bulk
Click to show/hide build description
This build hopes to utilize Cain's unique weapon to make him an effective physical tank. Bull Blade's unique skill combined with Steady stance and Close Def can boost his defense up to 49 in the enemy phase with the right boon. Combine that with Seal Atk and most sword, axe, bow, and dagger foes will be barely able to touch him. Bonfire makes use of that high defense, but Escutcheon comes on him naturally, and could help to negate any damage that makes it past your impressive def. Brazen Atk/Def is arguably better as an A skill as it works in both enemy and player phases. It mainly depends on what you have on hand. As for the C skill, Atk smoke helps negate damage in much the same way Seal Atk does, but since you need at least one other cavalry ally to activate his weapon refine skill, a cavalry boosting skill makes a lot of sense. Goad Cavalry is just a personal preference
