Firesweep Est
Click to show/hide build description
Est is back and she’s better than ever! Now that Defense Ploy is a seal she can run Defense Ploy and Speed Ploy simultaneously. With a speed boon, Swift Sparrow 2, and Speed Ploy, Est can reliably double all but the fastest units caught in the debuff. Reaching reliable levels of speed allows Est to join the Firesweep meta.

Icon Class Blue Lance.png Firesweep L+ is the core of the build, allowing Est to get in huge amounts of damage while taking none in return. This leaves Est with no enemy phase, however for such a player phase oriented unit, this is a small tradeoff.

Icon Skill Assist.png Reposition/Icon Skill Assist.png Draw Back will allow Est to be run on a team made up of other player phase units, be they glass mages, or other firesweep users. Allies can attack and then Est can move them to safety.

Icon Skill Special.png Iceberg will use Ests high Res to deal quick and reliable damage to enemies. Icon Skill Special.png Glimmer is also usable, and actually outperforms Iceberg. Iceberg is preferable to Moonbow since Moonbow depends on the enemy having high defenses Iceberg depends on Est herself, which is much more consistent and predictable. Glimmer takes Est's high attack output into account and can be activated the first time she initiates if she is used to bait a mage or dragon beforehand, which she can safely do thanks to her high resistance.

Swift Sparrow 2.png Swift Sparrow 2 is a higher scoring A skill that helps Est reach the speed threshold she needs to consistently double while also increasing her attack and leaving her resistance intact.

Hit and Run.png Hit and Run combined with a Icon Skill Assist.png Reposition or Icon Skill Assist.png Draw Back gets Est out of danger after securing a kill. A combination of Firesweep, Hit & Run, and a positioning assist allow for players to clear entire maps without any units even taking damage.

Spd Ploy 3.png Spd Ploy 3 is a huge help in getting Est to double enemies, and not only does it help her, but it helps all her allies to double fast enemies. It can also be used to prevent enemies from doubling slower, enemy phased ally units.

Def Ploy 3.png Def Ploy 3, The skill that started it all, is an extra five damage to every unit caught in its debuff, ten extra damage when Est doubles. Like Speed Ploy 3 it uses Est's high res, is easy to use, and helps Est along with her three other teammates. So Est does not necessarily have to be the unit to attack, even if she is the one applying the debuffs, which can be done from the complete opposite side of the map!

Brave Est
Click to show/hide build description
Est, similar to Cordelia and Hinoka, sports an Attack of 35. This is the highest Attack among fliers and the third highest among all Blue Lance users, only behind Effie and Charlotte (Bridal Blessings). Additionally, Est also has the third highest Resistance of all the fliers with 32. However, she gives up points in Speed for these two categories. As such, her best set is a Brave Lance+ one.

With the skills listed above she ORKO's every common Red and Blue unit with the exception of a buffed Effie. Most Green Tome users also get KO'd with the only exceptions being buffed Gronnblade+ Camilla (Spring Festival), Cecilia and Merric. With this build, however, she should stay away from most Green Axe units, as they usually sport decently high Defense. The only common Axe wielders she wins against in a one-on-one duel are less Def-bulky heroes such as Camilla, Titania and Anna.

Icon Class Blue Lance.png Brave Lance+ is by far the best Weapon for Est to wield, as it somewhat bypasses her middling Speed. It allows her high Attack to strike twice before the enemy can attack back and as such the rest of the build is tailored to optimize the damage output from Brave Lance+.

Icon Skill Assist.png Reposition and Icon Skill Assist.png Draw Back are the preferred choice for Assist skills, as Est's flying mobility allows her to Reposition allies to safety easily. It is up to the player's preference for the choice between the two skills.

Icon Skill Special.png Luna, Icon Skill Special.png Iceberg or Icon Skill Special.png Draconic Aura are all good options for the special. The three charge cooldown will mean that Est has her special ready after one intitation and allows Est to KO Green units she otherwise wouldn't be able to KO.

Death Blow 3.png Death Blow 3 is the obvious choice for an A Passive, effectively granting Est +12 Attack upon initiation thanks to Brave Lance+.

Hit and Run.png Hit and Run allows Est to initiate in combat and then retreat a space backwards after combat. This allows her to be repositioned back more safely, or retreat over terrain infantry or cavalry units can't pass such as mountains or water. If Hit and Run is not available, Drag Back.png Drag Back is a solid alternative but less reliable than Hit and Run due to it not being able to activate if the target cannot be dragged back into Est's position. Alternatively, Est can run Windsweep 3.png Windsweep 3 in conjunction with Phantom Spd 3.png Phantom Spd 3 to safely initiate on Axe units without getting retaliated on. While it won't KO any Axe units Est wouldn't KO without Windsweep, it allows Est to chip away at enemies whilst getting Reposition support from the team and weaken the enemy team to allow the rest of the team or herself to clean up.

Def Ploy 3.png Def Ploy 3 is ran on Est because her high Resistance allows her to proc its effect on a lot of common units. Additionally, the units that do have higher Resistance than Est usually have low Defense and will get ORKO'd regardless of Def Ploy. It also allows Est to secure KO's she otherwise wouldn't get, those being non-buffed Camilla and Minerva, as well as Ephraim, Sharena and non-buffed Effie. If Def Ploy 3 is not an option, a C Passive of choice can be put on her.

Budget Brave

Click to show/hide build description
This set basically does the same thing as Est's optimal build: Use her high attack in combination with Brave Lance to KO the majority of common units in the arena. However as this set is lacking both Def Ploy 3, it misses KO's on a few important Lance units. The set does KO every common Sword except Zephiel, as well as all Blue and Red tome units and a good portion of the Green tomes.

Icon Class Blue Lance.png Brave Lance is still the weapon of choice, as it allows Est to strike twice. Brave Lance still possesses 5 might and is more than viable if lower budget is preferred.

For the Assist skill, one of Icon Skill Assist.png Reposition, Icon Skill Assist.png Swap and Icon Skill Assist.png Draw Back can work. Swap stands out as an option because it can be found on Arthur, who can also teach Est Lancebreaker 2.

For the special, Icon Skill Special.png Luna, Icon Skill Special.png Iceberg and Icon Skill Special.png Draconic Aura are all good options. Due to them being 3 turn charge specials, Est is guaranteed to use her special in the second initiation she performs. Out of the 3, Iceberg scores the most additional KO's, however the difference between Iceberg and the other 2 is very small and as such, the special can be chosen based on what the player has available.

Death Blow 3.png Death Blow 3 is the preferred A slot skill due to the synergy it has with Death Blow, effectively granting Est +12 bonus damage on the initiation thanks to Brave Lance's guaranteed double effect. Should Death Blow not be an option, Attack+3 is a decent substitute and is also more common than Death Blow 3.

The B skill is mainly up to what the player has access to. Hit and Run.png Hit and Run allows Est to strike enemies and safely retreat in the same move. Fliers make particularly good use of this skill, as they can retreat over for other units impassable terrain. She can go in, ORKO someone and get repositioned by an ally more easily. It also is safer for the ally who is repositioning Est back to safety. Drag Back.png Drag Back is an alternative to Hit and Run, but it does not activate if Est fails to kill her target and would move the enemy over impassable terrain. It is worth noting that Brave Lance+ and Drag Back can both be found on Donnel.

Another option is Swordbreaker 3.png Swordbreaker 3, which secures the KO particularly bulky opponents like Zephiel.

The C skill is up to the player's preference.

Slaying Spear Generalist
Click to show/hide build description
There's absolutely no doubt that Est is a fantastic Brave Lance+ wielder. However, much like her fellow lance fliers, Est can run a melee generalist set quite well, especially if you already have similar units filling role of a Brave Lance user.

Notably, what sets Est apart from said fliers is (1) her high Resistance stat (enabling her to apply Ploys and tank red magic if you need her to) as well as (2) default access to a fair lance weapon in Icon Class Blue Lance.png Slaying Spear+. Additionally, not only is this set relatively easy and inexpensive to achieve on a budget, but it also has the distinction of working well in higher-scoring Arena Assault environments due to the frequent appearance of high-scoring armors in the mode.

The frequent use of formidable Bold Fighter 3.png Bold Fighter 3 or Vengeful Fighter 3.png Vengeful Fighter 3 armors in defense teams may prompt you to have a few dedicated anti-armor units. Slaying Spear+ does just that, with Est being able to acquire it inexpensively by evolving and refining her default Icon Class Blue Lance.png Heavy Spear+. With it and the correct passive skills, Est is able to initiate on and OHKO a variety of even the most highly-merged, Ward Armor.png Ward Armor-boosted armored units in tier 20, including Winter Tharja, Winter Robin, and Zelgius (and pretty much any Red armor for that matter). Additionally, the weapon itself sits at a pretty hefty 14 Mt, which will certainly be painful in combination with Est's high Attack. Though Icon Class Blue Lance.png Slaying Lance+ is tempting as it is commonly suggested on most melee lance builds, Slaying Spear is already quite useful for reasons previously specified. Est's use of it is also debatable as faster competitors, especially Catria, can make better use of the lowered cooldown by doubling more often.

Icon Skill Assist.png Reposition and Icon Skill Assist.png Draw Back are pretty standard movement assists which can help your teammates escape enemy range. The choice between Icon Skill Special.png Glimmer and Icon Skill Special.png Iceberg depends on needs. The former has a very short cooldown of 2 and works well in conjunction with Est's high Attack stat Slaying Spear's damage scaling against armors, while the latter provides a nice catch-all damage bomb coming off of Est's also-nice Resistance.

Death Blow 3.png Death Blow 3 is the optimal skill to improve Est's one-shotting potential. Many armors have kits that allow them to dish out powerful Specials on their first counter, and it's imperative that Est can kill as many of them with one hit as possible. The +atk boon helps further here, as does the refine. Her speed can be improved, but her B slot can be used to guarantee kills on swords that she can double without dying to.

Est's B slot passive skill is mostly free, though for cheap practability, Swordbreaker 3.png Swordbreaker 3 allows Est to overcome her lower Speed and win matches against extremely fast sword units universally. This is especially important as units such as Ayra and Mia with Wrath could otherwise win regardless of weapon triangle advantage due to their powerful specials. Additionally, ORKOing sword units completely prevents opposing teammates with Wings of Mercy 3.png Wings of Mercy 3 or Icon Skill Assist.png Reposition from ruining a favorable map position. More luxurious passives such as Chill Def 3.png Chill Def 3 may be considered, and have great effect at further improving Est's ability to one-shot opponents, although this requires that she targets the enemies with highest defense first.

The C-slot is flexible, but it wouldn't be an Est build without mentioning Def Ploy 3.png Def Ploy 3. It helps Est establish further KOes on defense-fortified armors and support her teammates in getting their own kills. It can be used as the Sacred Seal, but Attack Plus 3.png Attack +3 would be preferred in that slot to increase Est's damage output in conjunction with the Ploy. If Chill Def 3.png Chill Def 3 is chosen for her B slot, the ploy might lose some of its effectiveness, though.

Est's new weapon allows her to punch holes in armors, as well as anyone else unfortunate enough to be caught in the weapon's effect.

Death Blow 3.png Death Blow 3 or Death Blow 4.png Death Blow 4 are the best options for this build. Assuming she has the weapon activation requirement met, she essentially has a 16 Mt Brave weapon; when combined with either of these skills, you get +12 or +16 total extra damage (depending on the skill used).

A number of B slot skills can be used here, but one good option is Hit and Run.png Hit and Run. With this, she can safely dive into combat, and return to safety after. Alternatively, she can choose a breaker skill, such as Swordbreaker 3.png Swordbreaker 3. With many of the game's sword units having 40+ speed, having this skill can help keep Est safe from heavy damage.

The C slot is flexible, but flier buffs are highly recommended since she'll need to be around at least 2 to activate her weapon's effect. Goad Fliers.png Goad Fliers is a cheap, easy choice that's found on her eldest sister, Palla.

Heavy Blade 3.png Heavy Blade 3 is a powerful choice for a seal as it allows her to activate 2-turn specials such as Icon Skill Special.png Moonbow on that same turn, which would likely obliterate the opponent before they could retaliate. Attack Plus 3.png Attack +3 is also a viable option; a flat boost to Attack never hurts.
