Garon the Impenetrable
Click to show/hide build description
This build is meant to allow Garon to push in hard to enemy teams. With 49/52 defenses against ranged foes with the Water Breath+ set, dealing meaningful damage to Garon will be rather difficult. The Lightning Breath+ alternative is cheaper, and allows for a more offensive variant, utilizing Quick Riposte 3, but sacrifices some crucial mixed bulk for it. Garon very potent in Aether Raids, as he is able to safely gain space for his allies. Atk Smoke is the optimal C-Slot, but Panic Ploy can work well if needed. The choice between Aether and Glacies comes down to whether you want to add even more bulk to Garon, or patch up one of this set's major weaknesses: Garon's 45 Attack. This choice is rather impactful, as Glacies guarantees an extra 36 damage on trigger in EP against melee foes, but Aether will make Garon borderline impossible to kill. Either way, make sure you relish your chance to make this reliable tanking set, and send your foes careening into the darkness!

Mixed Def Mayhem

Want a ridiculously expensive build to tank anything and everything melee (and if you have buffs, even Legendary Tiki)? Well, Garon's your man. His low speed gives way to a great mixed defensive statline, which can be capitalized by Fort. Def/Res 3. However, this reduces his attack, so Wrath 3, will allow Garon to focus on killing his enemies through his Aethers. The C slot skill is Atk Ploy to further lesson damage taken. And, finally, for the S slot skill, Brazen Atk/Res 3 or Close Def 3 both work. However, I find that the Brazen Atk/Res 3, when combined with Wrath 3, helps Garon one/shot greens and some reds.

Groans of Increasing Discomfort

Unlike most GHB units, Garon has a ton of potential with his anti-anti-dragon breath. However, many dump it and replace it with lightning breath or water breath due to its seemingly useless secondary effect. With this build, both effects are utilized what I believe is their maximum potential. The only external factor that needs to be favorable is team support, especially a team that can provide Garon with defensive buffs. Given enough team support and perhaps even summoner support, Garon can be effective all of green, the majority of red, and even some blue units.

Garon's A slot of choice is Distant Counter. In dragon teams, it is vital in that it allows Garon to not only block, but take out mages with dragon-effective tomes. This will allow Garon's dragon allies to roam all the more safely throughout the map. It is also useful against standard green and red mages, considering Garon's decent Res stat.

Renewal 3 is Garon's B slot of choice. This may sound like an odd choice, but it has amazing synergy with both Breath of Blight's secondary effect and Garon's movement. With Renewal 3 and Breath of Blight, Garon will heal 3 turns in a row (not including the first and second turns). Coupled with his movement which allows him to run away to heal, unlike armored units, it provides Garon with amazing survivability.

Garon's C slot is technically flexible, but, for Garon's sake, should house some attack reducing skill like Atk Smoke 3 and Atk Ploy 3. I personally use Atk Ploy 3 since I gave Garon summoner support, but without summoner support, you may find that Atk Smoke 3 works best. The damage reduction, Garon's great mixed defenses, and ally defensive buffs all work together to ensure Garon's survivability.

Quick Riposte 3 is Garon's S slot of choice. This will allow Garon to take out most green units in a single turn.

Reciprocal Aid may be an ideal assist skill to use for Garon. With Garon's summoner support, Garon has high HP and high HP restore, making him easily double as a viable pseudo-healer. However, if that's not your thing, you can't go wrong with Reposition.

Lastly, Garon's special is flexible, just like his C slot. However, if you do intend to fill Garon's A slot with something other than a special accelerating skill, Garon should have a 3-turn special (on enemy phase, Garon will proc after being hit, retaliating, and being hit again). I personally find that Sol does pretty well at increasing Garon's survivability. ________________________________________________________________________

With all of the above, Garon is a mean-ass tank. Barely anything touches him, and in those cases, he'll just heal right up and pretend nothing happened. However, I cannot emphasize enough: he is HIGHLY reliant on ally defensive buffs in order to do his job well. So pair up your Garon with a Legendary Tiki (who has With Everyone) or another buffer and unleash chaos upon the FEH world. Sooner than you think, people, too, will be groaning in discomfort.

A strong green counter. Units rarely survive and attack from Garon, and Garon himself tanks hits from the likes of hectors. In my opinion, Garon is a better unit than the base tikis.

The King's Dominion
Click to show/hide build description
This build turns our resident Dio/Ganondorf/(insert generic villain here) into an enemy phase powerhouse. His defensive stats are perfectly rounded with a 33/32 spread, making him one of the best defense-oriented infantry units in the game statwise, second only to Helbindi. His stats make him a perfect user of Water Breath+, and the Defense refine works wonders for his bulk, granting him incredible Enemy Phase potential. This is added to by Distant Counter, which allows him to also win rounds against multiple mages and bow units, and Quick Riposte 3, which gives him the ability to secure KOs against many units with decent bulk. On top of that, his Speed stat is low enough for him to get doubled, which lets him trigger Bonfire to nuke the opposition.

Guard 3 is preferred for his B slot so he doesn't have to worry about triggering specials against most speedy units, leaving Quick Riposte as a seal. Alternatively, you can give him Quick Riposte 3 as his B slot; in that case, Res Ploy 3 is recommended for the seal to help soften up foes. Finally, for his C slot, since he excels in dragon teams, it is recommended to partner him up with someone that can boost his defenses, so having Garon bolster their stats in return with a Dragon-specific buff makes sense. However, if you'd rather run him in a mixed team or have him go off on his own, it's recommended that you give him Atk Ploy 3 to weaken foes that dare attack him for easy wins.

All in all, a powerful unit that should not be taken lightly despite having no access to IVs; his stats, might and potential make up for his shortcomings.
