|This build takes advantage of Urvan's special ability and Ike's native Steady Breath to make Brave Ike the ultimate ranged bait.
A boon in any of the defensive skills is used to increase his ability to tank shots. An HP boon would be the best choice if you're planning to run Panic Ploy 3, which combined with the HP +3 seal puts him at a whopping 49 hp on an infantry unit. DEF and RES boons are equally useful, depending on which type of damage you're going to be tanking. SPD is chosen as his bane as this build encourages Ike to get doubled.
Urvan's accelerated special trigger and its 80% reduction on consecutive incoming attacks are vital parts of the build, as well as Steady Breath's +4 defense when attacked and the special cooldown charge +1 on getting hit. This combination allows Ike to charge a 3-charge special by receiving a single hit, while taking barely any damage from physical attackers.
Reposition and Swap are both viable assists; you can use whichever one you have available.
Aegis is vital to tanking the ranged attacks, and is chosen over Sacred Cowl because Urvan reduces Aegis to a 2-charge special anyway. Steady Breath then allows it to charge in only one receiving hit as well.
Shield Pulse 3 is used to charge Aegis right out of the gate, so no preparation is needed to get the special up. The 5 damage deducted on special trigger is important as well.
For C passives, it is pretty flexible depending on what you need on the team, but Panic Ploy 3 is a good option as it can cancel out any buffs on the enemy that might allow them to deal any significant amount of damage to you.
The HP +3 seal is a good choice for a seal that will increase his overall tankiness.
With this build, Ike has Aegis charged at the beginning of the round. Upon receiving a hit from a ranged source, he receives 50% damage, with another 5 damage reduction. Ike should then take a follow-up attack, whose damage will be reduced by 80% due to Urvan's ability. Aegis will then be charged again due to Steady Breath, allowing him to further tank more damage. This is why the SPD bane is important, as without it, fewer units will be able to double him, and without the double, Aegis will not be charged for the next combat initiation. It is also recommended to keep units with Hone Spd 3, Spur Spd 3, or Drive Spd 2 away from him. As a result, Lucina (Brave Heroes) would be a poor ally for a Brave Ike running this build. It should be extremely difficult for Ike to be killed by any ranged users with this setup. The only ones to watch out for are high-attack red tome users, and potentially some similar green tome users.
