The Poison Dagger is a double-edged sword, it has a devastating effect when Kagero is facing infantry but hinders her performance against other kinds of foes. Since armored and horse units are become more popular in the Arena using Kagero could be a shot in the dark, so this build aims to guarantee more utility for her even when facing enemies that she cannont counter properly. Swift Sprrow grants a very valuable ATK and SPD boost on initiation that she can use to effectively one-shot most infantry units or, together with Windsweep, attack without fear of retaliation armored enemies and the usually not so fast cavalry units. For the C passive Hone Attack is a very valuable asset to boost the allies' offense and with Rally Speed for Assist Skil Kagero can improve two stats when it is not safe for her to engage in combat, serving as a semi-buffer. Conversely, she can equip Savage Blow to help soften foes in a wide area. Notably, Savage Blow and Windsweep allows Kagero to do some chip damage against a target she is not effective against and nearby units without receiving a counterattack(most of the times), turning her in to an excellent tool for battlefield control. Finally,Moonbow has the same fast cooldown of Reprisal but with the benefit of always having effect. With this set Kagero keeps her power against infantry but is not rendered completely useless against other units, as she can use Windsweep to damage foes she's not effective agaist without receiving a counterattack, softening them for her allies to follow up or provide buffs when she absolutely can not engage in combat. Recommended Sacred Seals: HP+3, for survivability purposes or to cover a HP bane; Phantom Speed to make the best use of Windsweep; Fortify Res 1 to further improve the semi-buffer role.~Bentermuler

Kagero Close Counter
Click to show/hide build description
This builds aims for a Kagero Poison Dagger+ user. With Speed BOON IVs she can double many enemies, and the one's she can't, she won't be doubled without enemy buffs or debuffs help. The idea of the Defense BOON is to resist some Brave Weapon users. With Passive B Quick Riposte, if she's not beeing doubled, she'll probbably kill the foe. Using Reprisal, she'll proc the Special just as she counters. With Vengence, she'll have it for the player turn. Passive C uses Attack Smoke or Threaten Attack, because as she is fragile, it can help her stand against some overpowered attacks and even Specials. Seal 1, Close Defense, aims for the safety and survive, while Seal 2, Quick Ripost, Aim for the use of Vantage as B Skill, where she can counter and possible kill the foe after the first combat she had. It's also possible for her to use B Skill Desperation, so after the first combat she pretty much can double the enemies and the player turn.

Kagero Mochi
Click to show/hide build description
Nothing revolutionary- simply a more expensive version of her Life and Death build, but with a better A slot to afford her what little breathing room; not sacrificing her already meager defenses.

While Ardent Sacrifice will always be the easiest way to get her going- with this build she can actually take a hit to get into Desperation range. While the Poison Dagger will always be fun for nuking infantry, it fails to take advantage of Kagero's brute force. With an attack refined Silver Dagger, Brazen active, and if you were lucky enough to get a Siegbert for Attack Tactic, Kagero can smack people around with 63 attack. To put that into perspective, that kills everyone in the game except Arden as long as she doubles, which is why we opt for the +speed IV.

Whether to go with the Silver Dagger or Kagami Mochi, it's up to you. Not everyone can or will kill a Takumi for this, but with the accelerated cooldown and the Heavy Blade seal, she'll be able to fire off a 3 cooldown (made 2, by mochi) special on every initiation where she doubles. With Brazen, her speed goes up to 42 (44 with speed refine), so she'll be able to double most anything quite reliably.

It's worth noting that, despite the HP boosts from refined weapons- Kagero's tiny HP pool means that Ardent Sacrifice is still enough to get her past Brazen/Desperation threshold.

Savage Strike
Click to show/hide build description
This build is aimed to optomize and cover every single one of Kagero's weaknesses. The best way for

this build to work is you need a dance/sing ability to double up on her attacks to maxamize the effects of Savage Blow and Poison Strike. Kagero falls flat as her weapon does best against infantry, but hardly hurts tanks, horses, and fliers. The way to get around this is Savage Blow and Poison strike, being able to deal tons of damage without actually having to engage in combat with the enemy. The Savage Blow seal stacks with the ability letting you deal 14 damage to all enemies in a 2 space radius of the original target. Coupled with Poison Strike, you're dealing 24, double it with a dance ability,

and you're dealing 48 damage with Kagero not even counting her actual attacks.

Lnd3 Mochi Kagero
Click to show/hide build description
Despite Poison Dagger having fallen off due to all the high-Def infantry running around the Arena, Kagero's killing power is still surprisingly considerable. She can almost crack 60 Atk with merges and a +Atk IV which is pretty brutal with Moonbow or Glimmer on a 1-cooldown thanks to Mochi. Give her QP or Infantry Pulse support and she can even proc Moonbow or Glimmer twice in her first engagement if the enemy can counterattack. Alternatively, she can opt for the Heavy Blade 3 seal and the more powerful Luna or Draconic Aura specials to obliterate a scary amount of things. Even hardened targets such as Winter's Envoy Tharja can end up dead when caught on the receiving end of this Kagero.

If not QP or HB3 for special abuse, Speed +3 can be used for her Sacred Seal because this form Kagero really wants to be as fast as possible and will greatly benefit from ally C support skills like Drive Spd.

I would not bother with Desperation in T20 Arena unless you can break the 45~ Spd barrier with some combo of merges, seals, +Spd IV, Summoner Support, etc. but if you can get there, it can blow stuff up when you have this much damage to back it up.

Quick note: Kagero is a little less powerful than Sothe with an identical setup, and now that Sothe is not only available at 4-star rarity but comes with Lnd3 by default, well, it would appear she's been power-crept a bit. Sad but true.

Frankly FEH has not been too kind to Kagero or her Poison Dagger. Sothe's not only been added to the game with a slightly more favorable stat spread than Kagero and a better base kit, but he's even available at 4-star rarity. To make matters worse, the proliferation of refined weapons has resulted in a number of common Arena picks becoming a bit more tanky—but nonetheless, Kagero can still serve as a respectable anti-infantry specialist in Arena Assault. The most common approach is to shoot for one-hit kills by pushing her Atk stat up as much as possible with a +Atk nature, Death Blow 3, Attack +3 seal, etc. (giving her a substantial 78 effective damage before reductions vs. infantry) which can be supplemented by a breaker of your choice. Swordbreaker is probably the most likely to be useful, although if Kagero can't take out a sword unit such as Ayra in one hit—which is a very plausible scenario if Ayra has an Advanced merge advantage, Def boon, C skill support, etc.—she better hope the enemy doesn't have Distant Counter. DC becomes even more troublesome vs. Dragonstone units such as Nowi and Fae, which are another example of a unit type that Kagero once terrorized with Poison Dagger but now has to be cautious when engaging due to weapon refinery—refined Breaths not only give dragons more bulk from +5 HP and possibly +4 Def but hit Kagero in her weaker defensive stat of Def. For this reason if I wanted to build Kagero as a Poison Dagger-wielding infantry check, I might consider -Res as bane instead of further dumping her already-low Def to give me a higher chance of surviving hits from DC-using infantry, but on the other hand -Res is a -4 superbane, which takes her Res from actually decent to fair, so -Def remains my first choice.

Alternatively, you can choose to focus a bit more on using Poison Dagger against other ranged units by combining Fury + Vantage since most infantry mages should die to Vantage and it's easy to activate given Kagero's low HP total. It's a bit gimmicky, but so is Poison Dagger, unfortunately. At least when it comes to AA, you can always choose to save Kagero for maps with the right targets.

Finally, C slot is flexible as always.

While testing Budget Kagero in T20 Arena matches, I found Poison Dagger to be pretty feast or famine-but-mostly-famine. On one hand infantry always has a strong presence, but it's so often in the form of a dancer, meanwhile the real threats like horses and armors? Poison Dagger does very little for you. Not really my favorite choice for Kagero, but it's pretty cheap to assemble and it has some uses so it might appeal to some players.

Victory by Stat Swinging

Intended as a competent support unit for a mixed team. The combination of Smoke Dagger and double Tactics create a huge stat difference in favor of the player's team, minimizing threats and improving survivability. Vantage vs. Desperation is up to personal preference, as her offensive stats are solid enough to make use of either. Draconic Aura is only recommended on teams running Atk Tactic; otherwise, Kagero's Atk doesn't get high enough for DA to compare favorably with Luna.

Ladies and Gentlemen, step right up to see the amazing debuff cannon! We're not Sothe and we don't have a Peshkatz, and Kagero's inherent poison dagger has limited usefulness. So, what's a girl to do? Let's take our foes out and cripple everyone else in the vicinity. While her speed is nothing to write home about unless she has a +spd boon, putting LnD or Swift Sparrow in her A slot should allow her to follow-up against most people, allowing for a guaranteed trigger of her special when you're using glimmer or moonbow.
