For those of us who are not graced with twenty extra Hector's in our barracks to burn for Distant Counter.png Distant Counter, I offer a well rounded use of Linus. He'll act very similarly to Raven, but can be utilized in any mode without requiring Life and Death 3.png Life and Death 3 as a skill and as the Icon Class Green Axe.png Basilikos refinement.

Icon Class Green Axe.png Basilikos is given to him naturally at 5-stars so it's an easy choice. It also reduces skill Cooldown, guaranteeing a special proc during any battle if you use anything under 3CD.

Icon Skill Special.png Luna is reduced to a 2CD thanks to Icon Class Green Axe.png Basilikos, comes naturally, and is powerful, so yeah... Use it. If you'd rather increase your survivability, just swap Icon Skill Special.png Luna with Icon Skill Special.png Sol to get some life back after each fight.

Brazen Atk Spd 3.png Brazen Atk/Spd 3 is another skill Linus already comes with, and frequently can change the tide of a fight. On top of adding plenty of Atk it increases his chances of doubling, a true win-win. This synergizes well with his next skill.

Desperation 3.png Desperation 3 plays an excellent role in combination with his specials and his A-skill. His Def isn't amazing, so after one hit will most likely be in both Brazen Atk Spd 3.png Brazen Atk/Spd 3 and Desperation 3.png Desperation 3 range. And thanks to Icon Class Green Axe.png Basilikos after one attack and one retaliation during the enemy phase, Icon Skill Special.png Luna will be ready to go, with an extra hit for good measure right afterwards during player phase. If you'd rather hit first, simply use Vantage 3.png Vantage 3 and you'll retaliate with a Icon Skill Special.png Luna during the enemy phase.

Spd Smoke 3.png Spd Smoke 3 will ensure anyone else who comes at you after the first round will be significantly slower, padding your chances to double. Use Atk Smoke 3.png Atk Smoke 3 if you'd rather pad your defense.

Quick Riposte 3.png Quick Riposte 3 Helps guarantee you get doubles, and doubles with this character means Icon Skill Special.png Luna activations. Quickened Pulse.png Quickened Pulse also pads this activation chance if you haven't invested in the other seal.

Overall Linus will be an excellent choice to fulfill that often-missing green slot in your team. This is all contingent on Linus becoming a boss in GHB, of course, so let's all cross our fingers.

(Update) Already tested in Arena and Squad Assault... Linus is a player phase monster. One hit brings him into Desperation 3.png Desperation 3 range, and bumps his Atk/Spd to 60/40 thanks to Brazen Atk Spd 3.png Brazen Atk/Spd 3. One hit and Icon Skill Special.png Luna activates, guaranteeing whomever he cut in half the first hit doesn't stand back up. And with his respectable 32 Def he'll survive the next enemy phase as long as you keep him away from magic.

With his amazing weapon, Icon Class Green Axe.png Basilikos, and his impressive stat spread, Linus can offer outstanding performance in battle with the addition of two skills to his kit.

The only skills that need to be inherited in this build are Icon Skill Special.png Moonbow and Desperation 3.png Desperation 3. Due to his Brazen skill activating at near the same threshold as Desperation, the two skills offer great synergy to ensure +7 atk/spd and no counters if the Mad Dog kills the enemy with his two attacks. Due to this, he cannot charge his original special, Icon Skill Special.png Luna, quickly enough to use it every fight, but thanks to Basilikos's cooldown reducing effect, he can activate Moonbow or Glimmer in every combat, due to them being charged and ready to use after just one hit. This runs under the assumption that he always doubles his enemies, which requires speed stacking, something the Life and Death 3.png Life and Death 3 refine helps him achieve. The choice of Speed Plus 3.png Speed +3 seal only exists to help him further, both before and after he activates Brazen Atk Spd 3.png Brazen Atk/Spd 3. After he does, and with a Hone Spd 3.png Hone Spd 3 buff, he can go as far as to double most of the fastest units in the game, including most Ayra builds, guaranteeing ORKOs on them.

Despite being very cheap and powerful, this build requires him to enter Desperation range in every fight, which might prove difficult sometimes. However, his 27 base def after the Basilikos refine helps him here, having sufficient bulk to tank a physical hit from almost anyone and survive it. Regardless, he gets hard-countered by weapons or skills that prevent him from doubling, or reduce his damage if he doubles. Such skills are, for example, Icon Skill Weapon.png Great Flame/Icon Class Green Axe.png Urvan/Wary Fighter 3.png Wary Fighter 3/Axebreaker 3.png Axebreaker 3/Deflect Melee 3.png Deflect Melee 3.

The one catch with this build is that it relies more heavily on getting Linus into that sweet spot of health to activate both Brazen Atk Spd 3.png Brazen Atk/Spd 3 and Desperation 3.png Desperation 3. Once he's there, he will be able to attack twice and kill nearly any unit before they can retaliate, even without the use of a damage boosting Special.

This frees him up to some of the most horrifying exploitation of Icon Skill Special.png Galeforce possible in the game. Combining the natural cool-down reduction of Icon Class Green Axe.png Basilikos with the nearly constant boost from Heavy Blade 3.png Heavy Blade 3 means that he can get a second action -- and likely a second kill -- EVERY turn. Combine with the aid of a Refresher unit for maximum potential. Odd Atk Wave 3.png Odd Atk Wave 3 just makes this outcome all the more common.

Icon Skill Assist.png Pivot is chosen for the Assist with this build to give Linus an escape option without needing to expend another unit's action just to get him out of danger. Linus is very vulnerable during the enemy phase with this build, so giving him the option to employ hit-and-run tactics instead of needing a buddy to bail him out makes him just that much more flexible.
