Lyn was an anomaly among armor units at her release, wielding a middling atk and instead focusing on a speed stat when most Armor exclusive skills go out of their way to ignore it. But with the advent of Special Fighter 3.png Special Fighter 3, speedy Armors now have the means of quickly firing off powerful 4 charge specials in every combat and preventing any in retaliation. Icon Class Blue Tome.png Blárowl+ is chosen to get additional mileage out of armor emblem's natural tendency to stick close together, each adjacent ally making Lyn just a little bit stronger and tougher. The Seal only adds further to this; Atk Def Bond 3.png Atk/Def Bond 3 improves Lyn's defensive abilities and protects against physical retaliations while Atk/Spd Bond goes all in on offense and gives Lyn the speed she needs to guarantee the all important follow-up and special activation.

Armor Emblem Lyn

A build that those with the fodder (and feathers) to spare can run with on their Armor Emblem teams. Hone Armor.png Hone Armor support at the very least is suggested, especially if you're like me and find yourself a F2P with a -Atk IV Lyn.

Weapon: It can seem like a waste to cast Lyn's Icon Class Blue Tome.png Blue Gift+ aside, but if you don't find yourself in need of a neutralizing tome (for example, you might have a Henry Happy Vampire Face FC.webp Henry: Happy Vampire with a Icon Class Green Tome.png Spectral Tome+ on your team to do more than neutralize buffs), Icon Class Blue Tome.png Blárblade+ comes in to give Lyn's Atk stat a potential boost. Ignoring the fact that her default A slot gives her a sizeable combat bonus already, Blárblade+ paired with Armor Emblem buffs is just what the summoner ordered this Valentine's Day. With an already respectable Spd stat of 36, a single Hone Armor support shoots Lyn up to 42 Spd. Now, let's stop ignoring her A skill and add 5 more Spd from whomever's got Lyn's back - She's now ascended to 47 Spd. Not bad, when you also remember that she's just gained at least 6 Atk as well (with 6 from Hone Armor and 5 from Atk/Spd Bond 3).

Assist: You really can't go wrong here with any of the movement-based assist skills we have; some people rock Icon Skill Assist.png Reposition, others like to mix it up with Icon Skill Assist.png Draw Back, and plenty of other people can feel comfortable with Icon Skill Assist.png Swap or Icon Skill Assist.png Pivot. You know your own play-style better than anyone, you do you. However, for those looking to conserve resources, Lyn's default Icon Skill Assist.png Ardent Sacrifice works perfectly with a Desperation 3 build (provided she's not +HP IV).

Special: Icon Skill Special.png Glimmer is the first special that comes to mind for some people when eyeballing a build like this, and considering the synergy with the way blade tomes work, it's a solid choice for any player-phase unit. However, specials like Icon Skill Special.png Draconic Aura and Icon Skill Special.png Iceberg are well within the realm of possibility should you want to opt for those instead, especially in combination with a certain Sacred Seal.

A Passive: Atk Spd Bond 3.png Atk/Spd Bond 3 is just fantastic. +5 Atk and Spd during combat just for having Lyn stand next to her Hone Armor partner like usual, or another ally? Love is in the air indeed. However, should you find it difficult to always have someone next to Lyn when she initiates combat, there are of course other options. Should you find yourself desiring some synergy with a B slot skill, Fury 3.png Fury 3 might work well paired with Desperation 3.

B Passive: Speaking of B slots, if you didn't get a -Spd IV Lyn, this is yet another slot open to your own play-style! Those looking to save some resources can feel fine staying with her default Guard 3.png Guard 3. But for those interested in other ventures, Desperation 3.png Desperation 3 plays well with Fury 3, as well as without it (provided Lyn has taken a counterattack or two). At a base 37 HP, Lyn need only take 10 points of damage to activate the effect, and with proper support, she's likely doubling the opposition.

C Passive: Armor March 3.png Armor March 3 is Lyn's default C slot, and it's welcome news to those who've managed to miss all other sources of it. A staple of Armor Emblem teams, it's perfect for those looking to conserve resources as well. If you already have multiple sources of it in place on your Armor team however, this slot opens up to suit, you guessed it, your play-style and/or the needs of your team/Lyn.

Sacred Seal: This is yet another "free" slot, open to be occupied by whatever Seal your Lyn needs at the time. Distant Def 3.png Distant Def 3 probably wouldn't hurt in case of enemy phase combat (pending a Desperation 3 build), but for those looking to mitigate the cooldown-downside of Blárblade+, Quickened Pulse.png Quickened Pulse can give Lyn a jump-start at the start of every map. Did someone say Tempest Trial? Furthermore, if for whatever reason that isn't in the cards, due to the way Blárblade+ functions you may also opt for Heavy Blade 3.png Heavy Blade 3 in combination with Glimmer, although some would consider this overkill in many situations, and it is not efficient when using Desperation 3 and in the effective range.

Author's Notes: This build has weaknesses, just like any other build. Aside from the usual tactics involved in playing your units, this Lyn needs to watch out for any enemies running Panic effects. At 37 base HP, this Lyn is a prime target for Panic Ploy 3.png Panic Ploy 3, and it can be devastating. Oddly enough, one source of Panic is her fellow Armor Mage Henry Happy Vampire Face FC.webp Henry: Happy Vampire, whose tome effect can often (but not always) overshadow Lyn's default tome, as mentioned beforehand. A properly built one makes a decent teammate, but is by no means necessary of course. On the other hand, a Tharja Normal Girl Face FC.webp Tharja: "Normal Girl" with Hone Armor and perhaps Swap makes an excellent teammate, as keeping her by Lyn's side would not only keep Lyn buffed, but also provide a bulky shield against any green units that might be lurking behind Lyn's targets. I realize of course these are both seasonal units that not everyone has, but again, they are just examples. Any teammate running Hone Armor is sure to be appreciated by this Lyn.

This build is meant to have as much synergy as possible with Lynn's Armor March. As a member of an armor team, Lynn will want to get her armor march boost to as many teammates as possible, so she should be surrounded on all sides by teammates. This is why we chose Blárowl for her weapon, as it gives her +6 to all stats when she's in position to activate armor march for all three of her teammates. Having adjacent teammates will also activate her native A skill, boosting her to ridiculous amounts of speed and filling out her rather low attack. And if her teammates all have ward/goad armor equipped, Lynn becomes even more powerful. When surrounded on three sides by teammates, two with ward armor and one with goad armor, Lynn gets +15 atk/spd and +14 def/res from her and her teammates' passives. This makes her insanely bulky and strong, and able to tank the likes of Reinhardt, her Brave alt, and many others (barring Blue Tomebreaker, but honestly who uses that?). Not only can she be positioned strategically to bait and kill ranged threats that would otherwise abuse her teammates, she can also be used in player phase to safely eliminate melee threats. Additionally, she has Wings of Mercy 3 to bail out her teammates who get into trouble. This also has great synergy with her A and C skills, as she will always get the atk/spd bond boost (and the blarowl boost from at least 1 teammate) after warping, and once she's saved her teammate, they'll both be granted extra movement in the following round. This build doesn't even need to worry about Panic Ploy since it doesn't rely on stat bonuses at all, only on passive boosts.

Love Abounds Lyn may be the star of the show, but it's her allies that can really get her there.

Let's go through the numbers of a fully realized build "real fast." Blárowl+ grants Lyn +6 to Att/Spd/Def/Res (and an additional +2 Speed from reforge), Atk/Spd Bond 3 grants +5 Att/Spd, totaling to +11/13/6/6 from her build alone and the existence of 3 allies adjacent. For true maximization, her Armored allies should be running 2 Goad Armor and one Hone Armor, with one ally running Spur Attack 3 Seal and another running Spur Speed 3 Seal. This grants an additional +18 bonus to Attack and Speed, totaling to a bonus of +25/27/6/6 on Lyn (with room to run Spur Def or Spur Res on her third ally). Toss in Ally Support and you're looking at an incredible +27/29/8/8 bonus on Lyn (or +29/31/10/10 if you are willing to give her Summoner Support). For those not keeping track, this would make her neutral IV in-combat statistics to be 37/69/64/37/44 or 42/71/66/39/46 with Summoner Support.

Lacking an ideal scenario such as above, Lyn typically sports up to two adjacent allies and Hone Armor buffs. Owl outperforms most other tomes with even one adjacent ally, and given how Goad Armor boasts a 2-range effect, Lyn simply needs her allies close to reach strong benefits. Ideally, your Hone Armor never leaves her side, so that unit should be the one to possess Ally Support; their Spur should be determined by Lyn's IVs.

+Attack is preferred over +Speed for Lyn due to her incredibly bolstered Speed nigh guaranteeing follow-ups, but if she is performing with minimal support (not recommended) then +Speed can help make her more self-efficient. Desperation and Armor March are required; Armor March is necessary for Lyn to have the movement to reach opponents and synergizes well with the full Owl effect she desires; it likewise allows her to initiate with Desperation more reliably.

Her allies are where this build truly shines, so here is tl;dr checklist:

2 Goad Armor (natural on Hector and Love Abounds Eliwood)

1 Hone Armor (natural on Gwendolyn)

Spur Attack and Spur Speed Seals on the most commonly adjacent Armors (Hone Armor user and one other)

Ally Support with Hone Armor user

Spur Defense OR Spur Res (depending on Lyn's IVs) on remaining Armor

The drawbacks of this build are pretty blatant; Lyn becomes the star of a maximized team build, and leaves all her allies' Seal slots consumed. Additionally, no amount of buffs can allow her to power through Triangle Adept, high-Res Greens, and the rare B Tomebreaker. Toning down her team for a more balanced contribution is a personal choice; it harms Lyn's maximization but also allows her allies to perform better. Additionally, maximizing Owl on player phase is both inconvenient and a bear to manage. The weight of a 71/66 offense spread cannot be understated, regardless. The level of insanity you wish to reach is how crazy you want your team to be.

No, you don't need an armor emblem team for her to excel, and yep this is unnecessary, but why not? Between Icon Class Blue Tome.png Blárserpent and Close Def 3.png Close Def 3 she has +6 def/res any time she's attacked. Given the +def IV and the def refine this offers a resulting 39/40 def/res. Then combine this with Close Counter.png Close Counter and Vengeful Fighter 3.png Vengeful Fighter 3 she will always retaliate with a double against any attacker. Fun right? Right.

Maximizing Res for Special damage. Depending on IVs it's best to have +Res for most damage but +Spd works very well too since she can double to activate special faster.

Icon Class Blue Tome.png Blárserpent+ has a built in Distant Def 3.png Distant Def 3 for +6 Def/Res from ranged attacks.

For Specials you can use Icon Skill Special.png Glacies 50% damage of Res or Icon Skill Special.png Iceberg 80% damage of Res. With her various ways of buffing for more Res Lyn will hit hard when her special activates.

A Slot will be Close Counter.png Close Counter for being able to pick off enemy units that come too close to her.

B Slot Vantage 3.png Vantage 3 is recommended for countering first after she takes some damage. She will be able to fend off melee attackers on enemy phase if she is unable to kill them from previous Player phase. Vengeful Fighter 3.png Vengeful Fighter 3 is powerful but hard to obtain. You will lose counter-attacking first, but special cool-down reduction is powerful and a follow-up attack will kill your opponent usually provided you survived their attack.

Slot C Threaten Res 3.png Threaten Res 3 is recommended due to it activating at the start of the turn enabling Lyn to benefit from -5 Res on her target. Res Smoke 3.png Res Smoke 3 is also a good choice for -7 Res on enemy units after Lyn attacks. Armor March 3.png Armor March 3 for helping your armor team, but this is flexible of course.

Sacred Seals you can choose between Distant Def 3.png Distant Def 3 or Close Def 3.png Close Def 3. Focusing on using Distant Def 3 will allow you to counter other Armor Mages or any long ranged unit. Close Def 3 can help round her weakness from melee; you can also use another unit to draw melee focus and allow Lyn to keep her ranged advantage.

Support Ideas...

With Ward Armor.png Ward Armor you can give Lyn additional +4 Def/Res during combat. You can stack up to +12 Def/Res additional during combat phase.

Res Tactic 3.png Res Tactic 3 or Fortify Armor.png Fortify Armor can grant +6 Res (Field buff)

Lyn is the only unit in the game that has access to Icon Class Blue Tome.png Juicy Wave+ and Bold Fighter 3.png Bold Fighter 3. When she is at 75% HP or less, she will attack twice in a row while activating a 2 cooldown special, turning her into a devastating Player Phase unit.

Weapon: Icon Class Blue Tome.png Juicy Wave+ has a built-in Desperation 3.png Desperation 3, which is what makes this set work.

Assist: Icon Skill Assist.png Swap and Icon Skill Assist.png Pivot are safe options for any armored unit. Swap is easier to use, but it comes down to personal preference.

Special: Icon Skill Special.png Glimmer is the recommended special, as Lyn will target most enemies' weaker defensive stat. However, Icon Skill Special.png Moonbow is also useful to get past enemies with high Resistance.

A Passive: Since this is a Player Phase build, Death Blow 4.png Death Blow 4 is the obvious choice for the A slot. Lyn is guaranteed to strike twice due to Bold Fighter 3, so she needs all the Attack she can get.

B Passive: Bold Fighter 3.png Bold Fighter 3 is recommended over Special Fighter 3.png Special Fighter 3, as it allows Lyn to double units near her Speed tier and units with Wary Fighter 3.png Wary Fighter 3.

C Passive: Lyn naturally comes with Armor March 3.png Armor March 3, which makes up for her poor movement. If an ally has Armor March, then Lyn can use Odd Atk Wave 3.png Odd Atk Wave 3 to boost her Attack further.

Sacred Seal: Brazen Atk Res 3.png Brazen Atk/Res 3 is a godsend for Lyn. It fits perfectly with the nature of the set, and boosts two of her most important stats. If she uses Odd Atk Wave 3, then she can gain up to +21 Attack on Player Phase. However, there are plenty of other alternatives for this slot. For instance, if Lyn is used on a mixed team, she can use Def Tactic 3.png Def Tactic 3 or Res Tactic 3.png Res Tactic 3 to boost her allies' stats.

Note: This is one of the most expensive sets in Fire Emblem Heroes. It requires at least three other units that only come at 5* rarity, including the seasonal Camilla Tropical Beauty Face FC.webp Camilla: Tropical Beauty. While this set is prohibitively expensive for most players, it showcases what Lyn is capable of. Chironflex (talk) 03:26, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
