Nino's standard build aims to use her weapon's effect and her incredible offensive stats to allow her to destroy a lot of units.

Weapon: Icon Class Green Tome Gronnblade+ is Nino's weapon of choice. She comes with it naturally, so she already has her ideal weapon in her base kit. It packs high Mt and adds more damage to her attack based on how much stat buffs she's given. With enough stat buffs, she becomes incredibly powerful. However, it slows down her Special charge, meaning it won't activate as often as she'd like. She'd mostly have to rely on her raw power to break through her foes.

Assist: Skilliconassist Draw Back is Nino's Assist, which she also comes with naturally. Nino is pretty fragile, so this helps her retreat from an oncoming threat.

Special: Skilliconspecial Glimmer is suggested as Nino's Special. Her weapon's effect slows down the Special charge, which is why a fast charging Special like Glimmer is chosen. When it activates, it'll help add even more damage to Nino's attack, and it can help secure a victory against her foes.

A Passive: Fury 3 Fury 3 is Nino's preferred A skill. It helps improve her overall combat performance by boosting all of her stats. More Atk and Spd to assail her enemies with, and more Def and Res to take a hit if she has to. It will injure her for 6 HP after combat, but this can help her activate Desperation 4. Life and Death 3 Life and Death 3 is another option to bolster her offenses even further, but this would also make her even more vulnerable as it would drop her already paltry defensive stats.

B Passive: Desperation 3 Desperation 3 is Nino's B skill of choice. Nino's high Spd lets her double a lot of opponents, and with this skill, she'll be able to strike twice and destroy them before they can even retaliate. This is especially helpful against foes with Distant Counter like Ike or Hector, since otherwise they would be able to stomach a hit and defeat Nino on the counterattack. G Tomebreaker 3 G Tomebreaker 3 is an alternate option to allow Nino to duel with opposing green mages instead and come out on top.

C Passive: Hone Atk 3 Hone Atk 3 is an option for Nino's C skill as she comes with it naturally. She can help support her allies by improving their Atk. However, she can put any other C skill to good use, and is up to the player's discretion.

Sacred Seal: Distant Def 3 Distant Def 3 is chosen to help her withstand a hit from some enemy mages, while Speed Plus 3 Speed +3 is an option to help maximize her Spd, which will help prevent enemies from doubling her and will help her double more foes.

This set does require support to be used to its full potential, as Nino will need allies to buff her stats through the use of the appropriate skills. Eirika Restoration Lady Face FC Eirika: Restoration Lady and Ephraim Restoration Lord Face FC Ephraim: Restoration Lord are noteworthy partners to her as they can buff three of Nino's stats without the use of a Rally, so their Assist is free to be something like Reposition to help Nino get out of danger. A refresher ally like Ninian Oracle of Destiny Face FC Ninian: Oracle of Destiny or Olivia Blushing Beauty Face FC Olivia: Blushing Beauty will also help Nino greatly, especially if they have Wings of Mercy 4, as Nino will likely be on the verge of death at all times, allowing them to quickly warp over to Nino. Given her fragility, the player should be especially careful in endurance styled game modes. Nino may require support to do her best, but she is capable of a lot of destruction, and will serve the player very well.

Doing Her Even Better-est (Iris's Tome)
Click to show/hide build description
One of the best budget-friendly characters comes with her own prf that continues the tradition pretty well! This isn't too different from what a standard Nino should look like, but built around her new prf tome and it's effect refine.

Iris's Tome has the same Blade tome effect that kept Nino great before, but now slightly stronger and without a special penalty. She can also combine it with a built-in Even Atk Wave, which gives her some self-sufficiency and the ability to cover for one of her buffed stats quite nicely - and, since it's Atk, the effect is essentially double thanks to the Blade tome.

Her assist, special, A, and B slot stay pretty standard. Reposition is just a good general use assist that can be replaced as desired. Glimmer is recommended since it scales really well off of the high damage output of Blade tomes, but Moonbow is good for bursting through high Res targets if desired. Fury 3 (or 4 if you're lucky!) is a great general boost to her offenses. Swift Sparrow lacks some flexibility, but gives a more consistent stat bonus to what matters most on Nino. Desperation lets Nino potentially safely double other mages and DC units when she takes a bit of damage.

Her C slot can be a lot of things, but as she have an Even Atk Wave built in, I'd suggest going two directions: - Odd Atk Wave lets Nino maintain a permanent +6 to her attack, on her own, with no outside assistance. Great for consistency, but she'll still be reliant on other allies for other buffs. - Even Spd Wave lets you double up on your built-in buff, and instead of being consistent gives you a large amount of power every second turn. When combined with the Even Def Wave Seal, you get even more power on your own.

For general purposes, a simple Atk/Spd 2 or Speed +3 will work if not going for full Even Wave buffs. If you're confident, Flashing Blade is also worth considering, as Nino can be sufficiently fast to fire off her Glimmers and Moonbows even faster.

Odd Nino

A Nino Build featuring the Odd Atk Wave Skill from Ishtar. +Spd is optimal, while banes depend on personal preference, though -Atk isn't advised. Fury and Desperation for the obvious instant double combo. Odd Atk Wave buffs Nino's Attack every second turn in player and enemy phase which leads to a lot of oneshots in combination with Desperation. Seal can be either Distant Def to focus on ranged fights, while Spd 3 makes her a glasscannon able to double a majority of units in the game.

MetaBreaker (Anti Rein/Lyn)
Dull Cavalry W Keen Gronnwolf+ (Skill)
Traits: +Spd/-Res,neutral
Click to show/hide build description
This build is made to defend against 2 main meta heroes, Rein and B!Lyn on the defensive turn. Refined Keen Gronnwolf+ null buff, means this Nino can take a hit from a fully optimal horse hone buffed rein or B!Lyn no matter Brave, Firesweep, or base weapon. Spur horse buffs should not be a factor as if you make sure they travel their max distance to hit her, they should be out of spur range.

With S summoner support she can even win vs even +10 merges. Deflect Missile confirms her survival against Brave Bow+. A -res bane is suggested as she has no issues from Rein, but a -def bane means B!Lyn will kill her.

Special/assist/B/C are all flexible in theory, as she wont truly need any of them for these specific match ups.

Special: Glimmer is her strongest special.

Assist: Draw Back is a preferred assist and baseline anyways.

B: Desperation means the turn after the defensive win confirms kills on the remainder of the enemy units on the map, and Vantage allows her to be used once more on the defensive turn.

C: As always depends on what your team / play style is.

This build is perfect for a high speed unit, you sacrifice the bonus you get with fury 3 or life and death 3 but you get extra cooldown in the special ability, to compensate for the loss of atk and spd obtained with other skills you need the speed +3 signal You can complement this unit very well with a support that has Infantry Pulse 3 to add extra CD to the special equipped ability and if you have a Azura (Performing Arts) the damage that can be caused is incredible (Build Create by Tatsu)

Heavy Gronnblade
Click to show/hide build description
This build's purpose is to make Gronnblade as strong as possible. Just as Flashing Blade incorporates Phantom Speed, Heavy Blade incorporates Blade tomes. This fact renders literally any Special viable; I personally prefer Aether because it allows Nino to fell even the most durable of Res tanks, along with the fact that it allows Nino to become a half-decent Res tank herself. In spite of Nino's lackluster defensive spread, she can withstand an astonishing amount of punishment when merged, buffed, and given Summoner Support; she can even shrug off the most unthinkably-heavily-spurred standard Reinhardt. Counterattacks aren't usually an issue, especially with Desperation active. But even if your opponent somehow managed to get through both hits (or was absurdly fast/had a skill that negates doubles), this set can even survive many counterattacks by Red units. And if your opponent ALSO has Quick Riposte or G Tomebreaker, then WHY IS NINO IN THAT UNIT'S GENERAL VICINITY?! Basically, with Aether, the Heavy Gronnblade Nino set either has the damage output to win; has the bulk to survive and THEN win; or is up against an opponent that has Triangle Adept (and is Red, of course) and/or can negate Nino's inevitable follow-up in some way.

You'd Probably think this is more than a little Mish-Mash, and I guess thats true, but... OK! Gronnblade+ is a great weapon of choice. Nino has the skill naturally, so go for it.

Draw Back is also good - mainly because i've used it to save Fjorm a few times - But if you feel that theres something better for this, please let me know. Sometimes I use Pivot, but thats usually for the jokes.

Dragon Fang is pretty good, but any Attack buffing special will do really. I just had lots of Dragon Fang Fodder, and it is pretty good. Mind the cooldown of 5!

Speaking of +Res, Resistance +3! Negates that "Low" variation from the -Res, so now its just more speed my friend. I would say to do this simply because Nino isn't the most capable defender. She can take a hit, but....

Vantage 3 is hilariously Broken and exploit it. Nino is a murder machine when done right - Hell, the kids outputting more damage then my wrath neph most days.

Breath Of Life is always pretty decent to run, simply due to the consistant heals. Combine that with my (usually wounded) Fjorm In front of Nino as both cover and for the stats, and defensive capabilities don't matter as much.

HP +3 Is just their to reinforce her lifetime. Feel free to mess with this. I think I ended up giving her attack +3 Instead.

BONUSES

- Summoner Support and Ally Support teamed together removes all other defensive issues and turns Nino into a decent defender with good speed and attack rivalling everyone. I mean, this was just funny.

-- I also Gave Nino Water Blessing Via Fjorm to milk some more stats out of it.

(If you want to see a incomplete version of this build, see this Screenshot here - https://imgur.com/a/IyBie)

With Buffs, my base attack from my incomplete build was... 33 + 2 (S slot Atk +2) + 13 (GronnBlade+)+ (S rank Summoner support) = 50 50 + 13 (Summoner Support Bonuses) + 8 (Ally Support Bonuses) +3 (Res +3 A slot) + 2 (Atk +2, A Slot) + 6 (Legendary Effects Via Fjorm) = 82 Base attack. Hoo Boy.

Anyway, have fun and DO YOUR BEST!

A simple build template that's been floating around with the introduction of Nino's prf tome, Iris's Tome. By stacking three Even Wave effects Nino can self buff her attack by +24 which allows her to slot in more easily with other teams without dedicated buffers like Eirika. Draconic Aura is a fairly standard choice but to deal with Surtr more reliably, Moonbow or Luna may be required.

Fem!Lewyn
Click to show/hide build description
Nino actually works surprisingly well with Lewyn's base kit. Accounting for the fact that Iris's Tome has Even Atk Wave 3 as a refine, Lewyn's Odd Atk Wave can give her an effective +12 Atk every turn. Her Atk ans Spd are very respectable, so having Swift Sparrow 2 would not hurt in the slightest. Iris's Tome works spectacularly well with Special Spiral in that, in addition to being a 16-Might Blade Tome, it doesn't slow down your Cooldown Count like a normal "-Blade" tome would. Nino already appreciates the versatility that comes with Glimmer, so that's a no-brainer. To round it all off, as there are only 2 "Wave" skills as seals at the moment, either Even Res Wave or Even Def Wave can take up the Sacred Seal Slot. If you want, you could use Even Spd Wave as an alternative C-Skill in order to give her an extreme boost to her attack, but onlt during Even-Numbered Turns.
