Furious Mage

This build allows her to be both offensively and defensively capable. Her starting abilities are all great, but Fury is taken in order to make her more durable and stronger during both battle phases. G Tomebreaker 3 is taken if you expect to run into a lot of Ninos, Julias and Sonyas. Otherwise you can take B Tomebreaker 3. Quickened Pulse is also taken in order to have her proc Moonbow as quickly as possible.

Sonya Blade

Sonya is a beautiful and powerful woman that desires nothing more than to look as good as she is powerful. Much like any high offense mage, the push from stat buffs and Icon Class Green Tome Gronnblade+ can turn her into a literal killing machine that even the weapon triangle can't stop easily. I chose a speed iv over an attack iv due to the nature of her skills as well as her damage already being blown to excessive levels with Icon Class Green Tome Gronnblade+. Being buffed for speed and attack is clearly crucial with any Icon Class Green Tome Gronnblade+ build.

Icon Class Green Tome Gronnblade+: The obvious weapon of choice when it comes to pure destruction. Gronnraven and her powerful, unique weapon Black Excalibur are all the rage, and for good reason. However, I think it's more efficient when it comes to the nuke category and demands the reputation that it has built since the beginning. The second reason for my choosing of Icon Class Green Tome Gronnblade+ over Dark Excalibur is the lack of remote creativity that she can really benefit from. I listed Icon Class Green Tome Gronnblade because it makes for a good budgetting option for those like myself that have poor pulling potential for 5 star units.

Skilliconassist Reciprocal Aid: When running desperation builds, I've found that there isn't a more valuable tool for the assist slot than Skilliconassist Reciprocal Aid. With it's ability to not only heal a unit that is gravely wounded, it will put herself into the position she needs to be in to power through anything that would disrupt her flow of attacks.

Skilliconspecial Moonbow / Skilliconspecial Luna: These two choices are based around which option that the player is going to base Sonya around. For quick damage, use Skilliconspecial Moonbow, for bigger damage Skilliconspecial Luna is the better choice. These two specials were chosen in particular because of her accessibility to them; neither are hard to obtain even for the stingiest of penny pinchers.

Mirror Strike 2 Mirror Strike 2 / Death Blow 3 Death Blow 3: Two very strong and obvious choices for Sonya if she wants to generate major damage on her own as well as being assisted by her allies. Both of them play the same role in supporting her damage produced by Icon Class Green Tome Gronnblade+. Mirror Strike 2 Mirror Strike 2 is for dealing with dangerous mages that could potentially annhilate her on counter attack as well as for budgetting purposes considering she comes stock with it. Death Blow 3 Death Blow 3 is for a pure damage output increase without reserve.

Desperation 3 Desperation 3: This is where her offensive game gets messy. Using Skilliconassist Reciprocal Aid, triggering Desperation 3 Desperation 3 is easy to set up in any battle she finds herself in. Icon Class Green Tome Gronnblade+ combined with buffs and Desperation 3 Desperation 3 will nearly OHKO any hero given they aren't running triangle adept, but even with that in mind, Sonya's damage output will leave a nasty dent in her opponent. Choosing a speed iv over an attack iv makes it even more of a threat in the long run as well as covering the lack of power that she would have from an attack iv.

Res Ploy 3 Res Ploy 3 / Spd Ploy 3 Spd Ploy 3: Taking damage, speedand resistance in mind, the true natural choices for the final nail on the enemies coffin are Res Ploy 3 Res Ploy 3 and Spd Ploy 3 Spd Ploy 3. They are incredibly powerful skills for dueling and tactical set up. Even with her mediocre resistance of 32, she's still able to triggle this passives with very moderate success. Res Ploy 3 Res Ploy 3 is the choice for those that fear that the foe's resistance keeps them from being taken out with her violent blows while Spd Ploy 3 Spd Ploy 3 is for keeping enemies from letting her unleash Desperation 3 Desperation 3 upon them. Due to Spd Ploy 3 Spd Ploy 3 being fairly rare, Res Ploy 3 Res Ploy 3 is typically going to be the passive of choice.

Owl Sonya
Click to show/hide build description
A meme build that ended up being viable somehow. The power held by Sonya with this is not to be triffled with as she can be both a player phase Mage AND an enemy phase one. The Owl Tome gives her a nice boost in her normal destructive power, adding a minimum of +2 to all of her stats with a single ally supporting her. The refinement can be either Speed or Resistance, which are both great solutions for Sonya.

Her Assist can be either Draw Back to safely retreat, or Reposition... but that depends mostly to you. Personally, I went for Draw Back.

Pairing her Owl Tome with a bond skill as an A slot, Sonya gains up to +7 depending on whether you use Atk/Spd Bond or Atk/Res Bond. Of course, Fury 3 is also viable as a budget solution and allows better synergy with her B slot options.

The B slot is Desperation as her doubling power is already high enough for the units she's intended to take on, but Vantage can be a solution as well depending on your playstyle.

The C slot is generally for Ploy skills as Sonya can run them rather well, but anything else can be used depending on your team composition.

The Sacred Seal could either be a second ploy like Atk Ploy 3 or Def Ploy 3... but there's also the option of Heavy Blade 3, allowing quicker special charge in order to eliminate her opponents more easily, as her high attack stat would allow her to make good use of it. Distant Defense is also a viable option if you prefer focusing on Enemy Phase rather than Player Phase.

As a special, Iceberg is a very good option for Sonya as it makes good use of her resistance and is rather quick to charge. Glacies can be used as well if you don't mind the 4 cooldown. You can still run Moonbow or Luna, but those wouldn't be as effective as Iceberg without Dark Excalibur.

In terms of ally support, there are two types of options you can go with: either a strong red unit that needs to have its weaknesses covered by Sonya - so being protected from blue threats like Reinhardt, Micaiah or Effie... or a blue unit capable of protecting Sonya from red units that could easily dispose of her.
