Best-in-class Flyer Bait

With the advent of Weapon Refining, this build allows Subaki to channel the spirit of Berkut and patch up his resist to become the best mixed tank in Flier Emblem. His role in the team is to decisively solve the problem of Firesweep Flier teams getting edged out by long range cavalry nukes until they're trapped in the corner without ever having gotten the chance to move into engage range. Subaki's bulk lets him bait the AI without dying in order to safely start the fight. His defensive stats come up to a grand total of 41/36 on enemy phase, or 47/42 with Fortify Fliers. These massive stats along with the +5 HP from cannibalizing Berkut let him survive even a Cavalry boosted Heavy Blade/Quicken Seal Reinhardt and return the favor with an easy Bonfire kill on player phase. Against faster units, Subaki's fantastic natural speed along with a possible Hone/Goad Fliers buff should prevent doubles from all but the fastest of units, adding even further to his ability to tank. +Def is taken just by default, but +Res with a +Def refine also works. +Spd can also be taken if you wish to prevent doubles without Hone/Goad buffs. -Atk should always be taken as a dump stat, as Subaki mostly relies on his special for damage anyway, and -HP makes him die to a fully maximized Reinhardt. Bonfire is taken over Ignis in order to check exactly Reinhardt on the following player phase. Fury is the best choice for the A-slot as usual, but it can be replaced with Distant Counter if you want to capitalize on the bait in the enemy phase. However, if you do use DC, you need to take a +res spread in order to still survive Hone-boosted Quicken Reinhardt. Cancel affinity is used in the B-slot to counter the random Gronnraven Adepts running around in high arena, but Renewal is better for PVE content, especially endurance modes like Tempest Trials. The C-slot should typically be Goad Fliers since Subaki should be the only tank needed on a flier team, making the other 3 units purely offensive by default. The seal should obviously be Iote's Shield in order to effectively bait Bow users.

Expect Perfection!

I love Subaki. He seriously needs some more love, like a unique weapon. Even so, he does amazing without any help. The sapphire lance is what he comes with and it is perfect for taking on red units. Swap is also what he comes with and has about the same utility as reposition so I left it on him. Moonbow helps Subaki overcome those bulky red units and charges quickly. Sturdy Stance is obtainable through a 4 star Halloween Dorcas, making it accessible, and bulking Subaki up without the drawbacks of Life and Death or Fury (I personally think Fury is particularly bad as it drops him out of Quick riposte activation faster than you want). Atk/Def Bond is also now obtainable from Rutger at 4 stars making it another viable option. Quick Riposte comes naturally on him. You know how good this is so I won't explain it. Goad fliers is flexible it basically depends on what team you have him on. Iote's shield is to stop those pesky archers from ruining your fun watching red units crash against Subaki like waves on a rock. If you're not worried about it, then get creative! Bonds, stances, close def, chill atk, another buff, whatever suits your fancy. If you don't have a 5 star Subaki, I highly recommend him. He is one of my faves.
