Hey guys, Trinitronity is here. I'm a giant Roy fan, so of course I checked for possible builds for him, but I didn't saw any for the IVs of my Roy...or any that use his original weapon for that matter. So I decided to fix that by making a build to counter blade tome users, with a little help from the FEH Discord server.

Weapon: Icon Skill Weapon.png Gratia+ with a Res define is the main source of the anti-Blade nature of this build. The weapon itself negates all buffs (including the Blade tomes' additional buffs) while also boosting Roy's resistance even more, just to shield him from tome attacks even better.

Assist: Icon Skill Assist.png Reposition and Icon Skill Assist.png Draw Back are very common movement assist skills and also really useful. While Reposition is more useful in Horse Emblem teams, Draw Back is still a good alternative.

Special: Icon Skill Special.png Draconic Aura works very well as a special, boosting his already good attack by a good margin. Even though the boost in attack is not as high as with Dragon Fang, but having a lower cooldown definitely helps. Icon Skill Special.png Iceberg will also work well as a special, of course, due to LA!Roy's high Res stats, though you probably want him to be buffed by Fortifies first.

A Passive: Fury 3.png Fury 3 is a really good A passive for both Player Phase and Enemy Phase, since it boosts both his attack and his resistance at the cost of recoil damage. It was originally going to be Distant Defense 3, but due to how hard that skill is to come by, I had to make Distant Defense 3 a seal instead.

B Passive: G Tomebreaker 3.png G Tomebreaker 3 and R Tomebreaker 3.png R Tomebreaker 3 are two very good B passives an anti-Blade LA!Roy, as they help him greatly with matchups against common blade tome users like Cecilia, Nino and other. Use whichever one you think would be better on your team. I would have included Quick Riposte 3 as an alternative as well, but I wont as long as that skill is still locked to 5-Star units.

C Passive: As with most units, the C passive is open to whatever your team needs most. On a cavalry team, Hone Cavalry.png Hone Cavalry works very well.

S Passive - Distant Def 3.png Distant Def 3 and Deflect Magic 3.png Deflect Magic 3 are chosen to boost LA!Roy's resistance, shielding him from Blade tome users even more.

This Build abuses the Brash Assault 3.png Brash Assault 3 Desperation 3.png Desperation 3 Combo to turn Icon Skill Weapon.png Gratia+ into a high Mt Brave Weapon that can also nullify ranged buffs or guarantee a quad with Icon Skill Weapon.png Brave Bow+ .

Weapon: Icon Skill Weapon.png Gratia+ nullify buff effect is especially useful in the arena to counter the Blade Tome users and Horse Emblem Reinhardt but Icon Skill Weapon.png Brave Bow+ is more useful in general and plays better into L!Roy's stats.

Assist: Icon Skill Assist.png Reposition is my preferred movement assist for Horse Emblem but Icon Skill Assist.png Ardent Sacrifice is useful to get L!Roy to the HP≤50% threshold to utilize this build. L!Roy comes with Icon Skill Assist.png Reciprocal Aid and it can play the same role as Ardent Sacrifice would if you want a lower cost alternative.

Special: Icon Skill Special.png Draconic Aura is a reliable way to add that extra punch if needed but if you prefer higher damage to lower cool down the Icon Skill Special.png Dragon Fang works too. Both play well into L!Roy's high Atk stat that only gets higher when given proper buffs in Horse Emblem and with Death Blow 3.png Death Blow 3.

Horse Emblem is optimal to give L!Roy maximum Atk buffs but pairing him with dancers that have Wings of Mercy 3.png Wings of Mercy 3 would also be very effective once he gets below half health.

With Desperation 3.png Desperation 3 and the Brash Assault 3.png Brash Assault 3 seal, L!Roy can double with Icon Skill Weapon.png Gratia+ and quad with Icon Skill Weapon.png Brave Bow+ without being counter attacked. This is the main part of the build but it is risky due to L!Roy having to have at most half health but it can unleash hell upon your enemies. High Risk, High Reward.

When I first saw Valentines Roy was a cavalry bow, I immediately joked about him being diet Lyn. This set comes from having thought further on it, and taking that joke to a bit of an extreme by recreating Lyn's default kit as closely as possible with Roy.

First of all, we stick with the default weapon, because it actually imitates Brave Lyn's bow pretty nicely. You trade some base damage for ignoring buffs from everyone, not just mages. With a refinement, you also trade one speed for two HP, which isn't too bad.

Icon Skill Special.png Draconic Aura is the same as what Lyn regularly has, and also will work perfectly fine with Roy, thanks to his high base Attack. If you wanted to, you could use Icon Skill Special.png Iceberg as well. Swift Sparrow 2.png Swift Sparrow 2 is the same thing as what Lyn has, but due to how we're replicating Lyn, it also plays a role in assisting Roy with Windsweep's effect. If you don't have a Swift Sparrow to spare, or are more concerned about guaranteeing Windsweep activates, Darting Blow 3.png Darting Blow 3 is a decent alternative that isn't too hard to get.

Windsweep 3.png Windsweep 3 is our way of imitating Sacaes Blessing.png Sacae's Blessing - while Roy's speed is low enough that he isn't too bothered losing a second hit, it does mean we really have to focus on his speed to get it to activate reliably. However, with a +Spd nature, Speed refinement, Swift Sparrow, and Phantom Spd 3.png Phantom Spd 3, we can get his Speed effectively up to 38 - this just about guarantees that Windsweep will activate on everyone who you'd be worried about retaliating against you. And we're not even considering Cavalry buffs.

The last slot is effectively free, but since we have a theme, I've gone with what you'd probably see on a Brave Lyn - Atk Smoke 3.png Atk Smoke 3 or Hone Cavalry.png Hone Cavalry. However, you can use whatever is most useful for you here.

Now, unfortunately, this build has a lot of investment to even get close to what Lyn can do out of the box, but it's not all bad - Roy does actually have some upsides with this set. His combination of abilities lets him deal with enemy bows more easily, even ones who carry Bowbreaker 3.png Bowbreaker 3, which can be helpful. Daggers are also covered, but they're not as common.
