Regarding an Issue with the Description of the Guardian's Bow Skill and How It Will Be Addressed
More >
Thank you for playing the Fire Emblem Heroes game.

It has come to our attention that the description of Igrene: Nabata Protector's Guardian's Bow skill is inadequate.

■ Regarding the Description

According to the skill description, the condition for inflicting Atk/Spd/Def-5 on the foe during combat is "if unit's Spd > foe's Spd," but the description does not specify when this condition is checked.

This skill was programmed to check the unit's Spd against the foe's Spd at the start of combat. However, since the current skill description does not include the "at the start of combat" specification, it may lead players to expect the unit's Spd to be checked against the foe's Spd during combat.

■ How This Issue Will Be Addressed

Whether it is more beneficial to check the unit's stats against the foe's stats at the start of combat or during combat depends on the particular mechanics of the skills that are involved and the stats that are being checked.

However, since the current description of the Guardian's Bow skill may lead players to expect that the unit's Spd is checked against the foe's Spd during combat, this skill will be revised in the version 4.1 update scheduled for release in January 2020 as follows:

〇 In addition to the existing check of the unit's Spd against the foe's Spd at the start of combat, the skill will also check the unit's Spd against the foe's Spd during combat. The revised condition for inflicting Atk/Spd/Def-5 on the foe during combat will be "if unit's Spd > foe's Spd at start of combat or during combat."

〇 However, this condition check will prioritize the attacker. If two Igrenes face each other in combat, the attacker's condition check may succeed on their attack and the defender's condition check may fail on their counterattack, depending on the Spd stats of those involved.

Example: Igrene A, who has 1 more Spd than her foe, versus Igrene B, who is equipped with the Atk/Spd Bond 3 Sacred Seal
Igrene A always succeeds with her condition check at the start of combat (thanks to her greater Spd at the start of combat), so the effect of her Guardian's Bow skill will activate whether she is attacking or counterattacking.

Since the effect of Igrene B's Guardian's Bow skill only activates if she succeeds with her condition check during combat (due to failing her condition check at the start of combat), what happens when she attacks and when she counterattacks will differ as follows:

Igrene B attacks; Igrene B's condition check has priority

The condition check during combat for and effect activation of Igrene B's Guardian's Bow skill is given priority.

Igrene B is equipped with the Atk/Spd Bond 3 Sacred Seal, granting her 4 more Spd than Igrene A during combat. (Note: Atk/Spd Bond 3 grants Atk/Spd+5 during combat if the unit is adjacent to an ally.)

Because Igrene B succeeds with her condition check during combat, her Guardian's Bow skill activates first.

This is followed by the condition check for Igrene A. Igrene A succeeds with her condition check based on her stats at the start of combat, so the effect of her Guardian's Bow skill will activate regardless of her Spd during combat.

In this example, Igrene B's Guardian's Bow skill activates first, inflicting Atk/Spd/Def-5 on Igrene A. Igrene A's Guardian's Bow skill activates second, inflicting Atk/Spd/Def-5 on Igrene B. This causes the Atk, Def, and Spd stats of each character to decease evenly.

Igrene B counterattacks; Igrene A's condition check has priority

The condition check during combat for and effect activation of Igrene A's Guardian's Bow skill is given priority.

Igrene A succeeds with her condition check based on her stats at the start of combat, so the effect of her Guardian's Bow skill will activate regardless of her Spd during combat, inflicting Atk/Spd/Def-5 on Igrene B during combat.

Although Igrene B is equipped with the Atk/Spd Bond 3 Sacred Seal granting her Spd+5 during combat, this increase is canceled out by the Spd-5 inflicted above.

This causes Igrene B to have 1 less Spd than Igrene A, resulting in Igrene B failing her condition check during combat.

The skill description will be updated to reflect this change.

To thank you for your patience, we will distribute 10 Orbs to players who log in after the next update.

We hope you continue to enjoy playing Fire Emblem Heroes!
