I don't know what's causing these problems, or how to fix it, I just thought I should let someone know about it. [[User:Markfeh|Markfeh]] ([[User talk:Markfeh|talk]]) 01:34, 16 November 2018 (UTC) :I figured out that [[Module:HeroList]] is causing these errors. I still don't know how it is causing these errors, though. [[User:Markfeh|Markfeh]] ([[User talk:Markfeh|talk]]) 19:47, 23 November 2018 (UTC) :That's because of hardcoded stuff here https://feheroes.gamepedia.com/MediaWiki:Common.js --[[User:Ale1991|Ale1991]] ([[User talk:Ale1991|talk]]) 05:18, 25 November 2018 (UTC) == Top-level category == Why would you delete a category that is not empty? [[User:Game widow|Game widow]] ([[User talk:Game widow|talk]]) 13:51, 14 December 2018 (UTC) :I didn't delete the category, just for the page for it since it contained no information. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 18:24, 14 December 2018 (UTC) I personally partially understand that you deleted the page for this reason, but note that * since you deleted the page [[:Category:Fire Emblem Heroes Wiki]], you 'deleted' the category - pages that were categorized under this category will still show up as being categorized. When deleting a page, category, or file, I always make sure any pages under it/that link to it no longer are under it, or link to it, so it 1. is not directed to. (as to not confuse readers) 2. appears not to need wiki maintenance (as to not confuse wiki contributors), although categories are not very important. * Secondly, this is the top-level category, which should never be deleted, but replaced or completely removed from all subpages instead, as it houses all underlying categories and some (doubtful) subcategories may always be categorized under it, for reference and not having to create extra wiki maintenance (sub)categories. I would like to suggest that the edit is undone, as all subpages are still categorized under it and as there was no purpose to removing the top-level category. Category pages sometimes do not have content (text, if I comprehend you correctly) on them. This is because they are eg. self-explanatory or were created only as a quick reference. [[User:TheLOLxd2|TheLOLxd2]] ([[User talk:TheLOLxd2|talk]]) 17:55, 27 December 2018 (UTC) :<blockquote>"you 'deleted' the category - pages that were categorized under this category will still show up as being categorized."</blockquote>Does this not mean the category was not deleted? As I said, I only deleted the page for the category, other subpages are still categorized using that category and I did not remove the categorization from each page, which is what I would have done if I wanted to delete the category. However, to avoid the confusion you mentioned I'll restore the page. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 20:43, 27 December 2018 (UTC) ==Category:Pages with missing story text== What I was trying to do [https://feheroes.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=Template%3AStoryTextTable&type=revision&diff=356741&oldid=344640 here] was to create categorization for pages with missing story text, and exclude [[:Category:Pages with story dialogue]] on those pages. Do you think there should be categorization for pages with missing story text, and if so how should I go about it? [[User:Markfeh|Markfeh]] ([[User talk:Markfeh|talk]]) 02:50, 31 December 2018 (UTC) :There is already a list of missing story dialogue at [[Project:To-do list#Missing story text]] using Cargo. I don't think a maintenance category is needed. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 02:56, 31 December 2018 (UTC) ==Merging Effective bonus templates== Do you think it would be a good idea to all of the Effective bonus skill note templates together? Here's the code that I have made for the merged template: {{Tlx|Effective damage bonus}}[[User:Markfeh|Markfeh]] ([[User talk:Markfeh|talk]]) 18:51, 19 January 2019 (UTC) *Doesn't seem like a good idea. With that many switch statements you are effectively writing multiple different templates anyway. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 03:32, 20 January 2019 (UTC) ::I have revised this template [https://feheroes.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=User:Markfeh/Effective_damage_bonus&action=edit here] with only one switch function and an array. Let me know what you think. [[User:Markfeh|Markfeh]] ([[User talk:Markfeh|talk]]) 00:39, 10 August 2019 (UTC) :::I have no strong opinions one way or the other. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 03:44, 10 August 2019 (UTC) == Cargo table creation request == I have made a template that define a Arena Bonus Heroes Cargo table here: [[Template:ArenaBonusHeroes]]. I would like to request a table creation. This is the first time I create this kind of templates, so if you have any suggestion, let me know. Bonus Hero information is nice to have on all Hero's Misc pages, and I can batch edit those pages if the table was created. --[[User:RainThunder0|RainThunder0]] ([[User talk:RainThunder0|talk]]) 22:57, 14 February 2019 (UTC) :Suggestion: Make it a general Bonus Hero table that stores bonus Heroes for Tempest Trials, AR, etc. as well as Arena. A Type field can specify which mode it is for. This also allows new modes to store bonus Heroes without reworking the template. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 06:16, 27 February 2019 (UTC) ==Fire Emblem Main Theme (Heroes Ver.) lyrics== I intended for and formatted the lyrics to be displayed like subtitles when the tune is played. MediaWiki difference, probably. --[[User:TheBreakingBenny|TheBreakingBenny]] ([[User talk:TheBreakingBenny|talk]]) 15:28, 22 February 2019 (UTC) ::Correct. [[mw:Extension:TimedMediaHandler|TimedMediaHandler]] is not installed on this wiki, so the page was basically a mainspace article page titled "TimedText:Bgm menu title.ogg.en.srt". I moved it to your userpage instead of completely deleting it in case gamepedia ever installs the extension and so that you can still make use of it for any other purpose you'd like. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 03:52, 23 February 2019 (UTC) ==Missing Face_FC Files for Líf, Thrasir, and Hel (and about other face files too I guess)== Hey, this is more of a quick question than anything and I don't know where else to put this question, but I would like to ask: How come there's no Face_FC file for the Book III antagonists right now? We've got one for Eir, but that's probably because she's playable and not the other Hel dwellers at this moment. But if Bruno and Veronica still haven't become playable yet (not counting Brave Veronica), how come they have Face_FC files? Also, this next question is entirely a nitpick so disregard it if you wish, but how come the "Face_Anger", "Face_Cool" and all of the other facial expressions on characters don't align up the same way as the "Face_FC" images? [[User:Falconpunch10070481|Falconpunch10070481]] ([[User talk:Falconpunch10070481|talk]]) 20:59, 23 February 2019 (UTC) :No Face_FC file exists in the game files, that's pretty much it. You can create one through edits and upload it as a temporary replacement but make sure you indicate in the file description that it's an edit if you do so. Can you elaborate on the alignment issue? [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 21:06, 23 February 2019 (UTC) ::I think it's better explained through visual examples. Take a look at [https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/369297890214150165/548978801338613811/ex.png this]. See how Eir has been cropped smaller on her "Pain" face than on her usual FC file? While the cropping isn't perfect on all characters and their facial expressions, of course, it is somewhat more noticeable on other characters. Again, this is an extremely minor nitpick, so it's not too big of a deal. I'd just thought I would point this out. [[User:Falconpunch10070481|Falconpunch10070481]] ([[User talk:Falconpunch10070481|talk]]) 21:28, 23 February 2019 (UTC) :::Don't worry about a nitpick being "too small" or not. if there's room for improvement, there's room for improvement, and the worst that can happen from bringing it up is that nobody does anything. I designed the [[Project:To-do list|To-do list]] so that anything can be added there as long as it improves the wiki, no matter how minor it may seem, so if there's ever anything else you want to "nitpick" about feel free to talk to me or to add tasks as you see fit. [[Template:StoryTextTable]] holds the values for "shiftdown" and "shiftright" that dictate how far to move artwork (icons for expressions are actually cropped artwork). You can adjust them and hit "preview" to see the changes (the template documentation in preview shows even unsaved changes) until you are satisfied, and then save it. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 21:36, 23 February 2019 (UTC) ::::Sounds good to me. It'll at least give the "shiftdown" and "shiftright" commands a good use. Thanks. [[User:Falconpunch10070481|Falconpunch10070481]] ([[User talk:Falconpunch10070481|talk]]) 21:39, 23 February 2019 (UTC) == New Story Templates == Just curious, what is {{Tl|StoryFo}} supposed to do? Also, why do {{Tl|StorySE}} and {{Tl|StoryImage}} onnly have <code><nowiki><noinclude>{{doc}}</noinclude></nowiki></code> in them? [[User:Markfeh|Markfeh]] ([[User talk:Markfeh|talk]]) 22:21, 3 March 2019 (UTC) :Don't touch these templates unless you are willing to implement them properly. I'll explain what they are supposed do in the docs rather then here when I have time. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 02:41, 4 March 2019 (UTC) :Also, if I can add to what Markfeh is saying, where are the story event/combat animation background files? I can't seem to find them anywhere on the wiki. If I'm going to go through the story and display what backgrounds they used for the opening and ending dialogues, I need to know what they are and where they are. [[User:Falconpunch10070481|Falconpunch]] ([[User talk:Falconpunch10070481|talk]]) 02:07, 4 March 2019 (UTC) ::You can view a list [{{fullurl:Special:PrefixIndex/File:Talk|stripprefix=1}} here]. Though I recommend using [[Module:ScenarioArchiveToWiki]] along with [https://github.com/HertzDevil/feh-assets-json/tree/master/files/assets/USEN/Message/Scenario Hertz's JSON dumps] instead of transcribing manually. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 02:41, 4 March 2019 (UTC) ==Leaked FE6 Heroes== Hey, did you see that one thread on r/FireEmblemHeroes? The new Heroes featured from the Binding Blade have been discovered, or at least, most of them. If you don't want to spoil yourself, that's fine. I just thought I'd let you know since we could probably begin making pages about them on this wiki soon. [[User:Falconpunch10070481|Falconpunch]] ([[User talk:Falconpunch10070481|talk]]) 21:05, 4 March 2019 (UTC) :It's better to wait until they are officially released, as leaks can often be fake. [[User:Markfeh|Markfeh]] ([[User talk:Markfeh|talk]]) 23:00, 4 March 2019 (UTC) ::Well, this one doesn't seem to be fake; they were found in image links on that "Let Sharena Introduce You!" part of the FEH Website. Looks about as real as real can be to me. It looks like IS was aware of this leak and fixed it, though. [[User:Falconpunch10070481|Falconpunch]] ([[User talk:Falconpunch10070481|talk]]) 23:49, 4 March 2019 (UTC) :::I still think it's better to hold off on creating any Pages until they are officially released even if the lake is convincing and IS did remove images from their serve. I think it's better to wait till the prewiew video comes out, because right now we have too little information to create pages, only their names, titles, and chibi sprites. [[User:Markfeh|Markfeh]] ([[User talk:Markfeh|talk]]) 02:06, 5 March 2019 (UTC) :There is no need to debate the validity of this leak. It has been verified to come from Intelligent Systems and is equivalent to datamining Heroes from files that come from Intelligent Systems even though in both cases the existence of Heroes cannot be verified through gameplay for unreleased Heroes. There is always the possibility they can make a last minute change, but this applies for the game files as well and is highly unlikely in general. You can make the pages if you want, but I just personally think it's a waste of time you could be using for something else since we have a user who runs a bot to create those pages. Since it overwrites the page you would have to reapply any changes afterwards anyway so it's kind of pointless to wait. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 01:48, 6 March 2019 (UTC) ::I hadn't seen the leaks when I posted my first comment, I was just saying that leaks can be faked. My main point was to say that we should at least wait till the prewiew video to start making pages. As for creating hero pages, it's okay to create them, but it as Endilyn says above, any data on those pages will be overwritten by [[User:HertzDevil|HertzDevil's]] automated new heroes edits. [[User:Markfeh|Markfeh]] ([[User talk:Markfeh|talk]]) 02:09, 6 March 2019 (UTC) == "WavePattern" files == I realized what those "Wave" pattern files are actually for, and why they have a weird pattern in the game's files but not in-game. The reason is because the water image is actually a 180x180 image, just looped around a 3x4 scale. Those other parts of the file are actually frames for the liquid pattern to animate in-game. This might exclude the last three frames in each "Wave" file however, since you don't really see them in-game. I remade all the "Wave" pattern images to use only one frame so it's consistent throughout the whole map display image, but this does open up the potential to make them into .gif files instead. Though I'm not quite sure if that would work, plus I don't know how to make .gif's from scratch. What are your thoughts? For me to re-upload those "Wave" images with a consistent frame, or could we perhaps turn them into .gif files so it displays maps similar to how it does in-game? [[User:Falconpunch10070481|Falconpunch]] ([[User talk:Falconpunch10070481|talk]]) 03:32, 15 April 2019 (UTC) :Single frame png is better. There is some quality loss in gif, however you can also try using animated gifs if you want but I think the best solution is sticking with png. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 04:23, 15 April 2019 (UTC) ::Alright, png it is. Thanks. [[User:Falconpunch10070481|Falconpunch]] ([[User talk:Falconpunch10070481|talk]]) 04:33, 15 April 2019 (UTC) == Your "Common" userpage == This doesn't necessarily contribute to the Wiki, but I will ask anyway: Your "Common" userpage has pretty much the whole FEH game content. But I do wonder: How did you get all of this information? Are any of those links or images accessible to anyone? I'm asking because I've taken on the task of uploading battle backgrounds to The Spriter's Resource, but the GamePress dataminers didn't give me all of the files I need to upload them on certain backgrounds. It seems as though your "Common" userpage has those image files I'm missing to upload all battle backgrounds, but I don't know if they're actually accessible to anyone. So, I must ask: How did you get all of this content? Is it from datamining? Is datamining a risky move? [[User:Falconpunch10070481|Falconpunch]] ([[User talk:Falconpunch10070481|talk]]) 19:07, 26 April 2019 (UTC) :That is just a page for my personal use. All it does is list the md5 checksums of every file in the Common folder (doesn't include apk files). Whenever the game updates, I can download the files and re-generate the tree using a program I made and then save the page, and the wiki's diff function will tell me which files have been changed by the developers and need to be re-uploaded. I no longer have any use for the page though, as I have found a better method. If you need help on extracting game assets, a basic guide is at [[Project:Extracting game assets]]. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 00:41, 27 April 2019 (UTC) ::Thanks for the guide, it certainly helped...but now I'm stuck again: I rooted my device and everything, downloaded the game's assets on one of my devices, but my computer still won't allow me access to the game's file "/data/com.nintendo.zaba/files/assets/". Did I do something wrong?[[User:Falconpunch10070481|Falconpunch]] ([[User talk:Falconpunch10070481|talk]]) 22:31, 27 April 2019 (UTC) Did you try using es file explorer and compressing the directory to a .zip format? It's a much easier transfer this way.--[[User:Mastersnake01|Mastersnake01]] ([[User talk:Mastersnake01|talk]]) 22:53, 27 April 2019 (UTC) :Oh, no I didn't. Thanks, Mastersnake. Now I'm gettin' somewhere. [[User:Falconpunch10070481|Falconpunch]] ([[User talk:Falconpunch10070481|talk]]) 23:11, 27 April 2019 (UTC) == Missing Entries on the [[Fire Emblem Heroes Wiki:Build Center|Build Center]] == I've noticed that both [[Hríd: Resolute Prince]] and [[Hríd: Icy Blade]] are missing from the [[Fire Emblem Heroes Wiki:Build Center|Build Center]] page. --[[User:Reddazrael|Reddazrael]] ([[User talk:Reddazrael|talk]]) 09:06, 30 June 2019 (UTC) ==Revision differences== By that [https://feheroes.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=Unused_content&diff=next&oldid=409124#Revision_differences logic] revision differences should be a separate page entirely. The files that are still there are also old, not unused. [[User:Markfeh|Markfeh]] ([[User talk:Markfeh|talk]]) 20:08, 20 July 2019 (UTC) :Yes. Revision differences [[Version Updates|should be a separate page entirely]]. There are no files present in [[Unused content]] that is not unused. Tiki's artwork was '''never''' used in the game and was modified in another update push before the Heroes were obtainable. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 20:37, 20 July 2019 (UTC) ::In that case should I create a category for old files or add a gallery section to Version Updates? [[User:Markfeh|Markfeh]] ([[User talk:Markfeh|talk]]) 22:00, 20 July 2019 (UTC) :::I have no opinions on the category one way or the other. Version Updates gallery section is fine too. Ideally I'd want Version Updates to become just an "Update" page that tracks every change in every update, even ones that are not listed by Intelligent Systems (such has updating images, removing Surtr from the random pool), and the files changed would go on each section covering each update, but this idea isn't practical due to the lack of maintenance ability. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 03:44, 10 August 2019 (UTC) == Template:Area Of Effect == Why did you remove the collapsiblity feature that I added to {{Tl|Area Of Effect}}? [[User:Markfeh|Markfeh]] ([[User talk:Markfeh|talk]]) 23:02, 25 August 2019 (UTC) Because: #There's no benefit to making it collapsible but bloats the html and code. #*Furthermore, the table not excessively large. #Collapsibility is not a thing in mobile, keep it consistent between mobile and desktop. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 23:34, 25 August 2019 (UTC) == Internal properties == You rejected a previous idea of using message IDs on the wiki, on the grounds that they are internal properties and we have no guarantees of successfully datamining them in the future, but then you proceeded to [https://feheroes.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=Template:Hero_Infobox&diff=467854&oldid=467760 expose the Hero sort values] which also are internal properties. What is the meaning of this? --[[User:HertzDevil|HertzDevil]] ([[User talk:HertzDevil|talk]]) 12:19, 6 November 2019 (UTC) :I don't see how this is contradictory with what I said previously on the to-do list on Ale's proposal. Nothing relies on this information, it is only displayed. I forgot to add a <code>|default=</code> field to make it display nothing instead of ''no results'' in the missing info case though, so thanks for the reminder. Here is a reproduced quote of [{{fullurl:Project:To-do list|&diff=next&oldid=397922}} what I said]:<blockquote>No information that can be accessed without the game files in this wiki mandatorily requires accessing the game files to add.</blockquote> This is unrelated, but I am not against storing message IDs or whatever on the wiki, we have two whole namespaces where people can put whatever they want (User and Project), I was against Ale's proposal proposal specifically to "use the cargotable to display the text in all the wiki". [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 00:00, 7 November 2019 (UTC) == Question == How did you get the higher res image of Ike's resplendent portraits? [[User:FireElFlare|FireElFlare]] ([[User talk:FireElFlare|talk]]) 13:21, 11 March 2020 (UTC) :I got them from the game files, the same place we get the images for all the Heroes. [[User:Endilyn|Endilyn]] ([[User talk:Endilyn|talk]]) 03:24, 12 March 2020 (UTC) == Superimpose VS Div == Is Superimpose really as customizable as using divs? Even if it's not, won't using divs instead of Superimpose reduce the loading time on pages that use the template? Especially those that use them a lot? [[User:FireElFlare|FireElFlare]] ([[User talk:FireElFlare|talk]]) 01:43, 2 May 2020 (UTC) :1. Yes. All superimpose does is output divs, and it does it cleaner. The parameters are wikitext. You can do whatever you want with the parameters or the result. 2. It improves performance in the same sense that deleting all infobox templates and pasting the raw code would. In other words, to an irrelevant degree. The difference is less than 0.1 seconds. Futhermore MediaWiki serves cached pages to anonymous users. In any case, post expand include size side of performance, which we have hit on several map pages before leading to missing sections, is a larger threat to stability than any supposed load time issue could be.
