Blazing Wind inflicts out of combat damage.
- Out of combat damage cannot reduce a unit's HP to 0.
- A foe equipped with Embla's Ward, Múspellflame, Niðavellir Axiom, or Gold Perfection will neutralize all sources of out of combat damage except Røkkr area-of-effect Specials.
- A foe equipped with Røkkr or a unit affected by En Garde will neutralize all sources of out of combat damage except area-of-effect Specials.
Def is chosen if the unit does physical damage. Res is chosen if the unit does magical damage.
Blazing Wind is affected by skills that "calculate damage using the lower of foe's Def or Res", as well as skills that disable such effect.
- Exceptions include skills that grant or disable this effect only "during combat", such as Inf. Hexblade 3 and Light and Dark II.
Damage dealt "before combat", like from Blazing Wind, is affected by Bonuses, Penalties, Dominance, and Treachery.
- Damage dealt "before combat", like from Blazing Wind, is not affected by "during combat" effects such as Bonus Doubler, Foe Penalty Doubler, Cross Spur Atk, or weapon-triangle advantages.
Skills such as Queensblade will prevent Blazing Wind from triggering.

* Alfonse: Prince of Askr, Sharena: Princess of Askr, Anna: Commander, and Forma units cannot be used for skill inheritance or turned into combat manuals.
** Rearmed and Attuned Heroes cannot be used for normal skill inheritance or turned into combat manuals after using their Arcane/Elite Inheritance unless their Arcane/Elite Inheritance is restored via merges.
