Olivia is one of the few currently available dancers in the game, and the only one who is red. Her defensive stats are respectable, and her speed is in a good spot to avoid a lot of frequent doubles. This comes with the shortcoming of her low Atk stat, but with a few changes to her kit, she can still manage to hold her own in fights.

To start off, let’s consider Olivia’s choice for special. Olivia being a dancer shouldn’t need to be in the thick of combat very often. You want to keep her encounters short and potentially position her away from any retaliation/enemy initiates on Olivia. For this reason it’s optimal to run a low CD special because it’s more likely that it’ll actually put in some work as opposed to long high-damage specials. This is why we have either Moonbow.

Skilliconspecial Moonbow helps her kill certain units she had trouble killing prior. These units include Sophia, Seliph, Chrom, Alfonse, and Merric. The relevance of these matchups is up to the player. These aren’t very commonly seen units, but are still worth accounting for additional coverage.

Now to consider her weapon with respect to the rest of the build. Icon Class Red Sword Ruby Sword+ is a solid go-to option that allows her to more definitively handle green units at the expense of doing poorly with blue blue units (who she shouldn't be facing anyway). It allows her to tank popular green units such as Hector and also leaves her at higher levels of HP to deal with any additional green units she may need to face off.

Icon Class Red Sword Wo Dao+ can also be considered as a weapon option. Although she no longer has the increased weapon advantage against green units, the flat +10 damage upon special activation remedies this loss. Paired with the 2-charge special Moonbow, this allows Olivia to dish out formidable damage. For example, she defeats most Red Swords with Wo Dao+ if she can get the double. Additionally, without the increased weapon disadvantage against blue units, on a defense team, this makes it difficult for enemy blue units to bait Olivia.

Icon Class Red Sword Silver Sword+ is a solid budget option which provides Olivia extra Atk over Ruby Sword+, and also comes in Olivia’s base kit. Silver Sword wins a few more matchups over Ruby+, like Ike, Eldigan, and even a few blue units like Peri, Florina, and Clair (but she should avoid matching up against blues regardless). It kills all the same greens as Ruby+ with the exception of Anna, who ends up killing Olivia. The downside to this is that she kills greens in a less clean manner, so her HP will be lower after each combat when using Silver+ vs Greens as opposed to Ruby+. This is due to the free TA that Ruby+ provides which allows Olivia to turn ORKO’s (one round KO’s) into OHKO’s (one hit KO’s).

Note that Silver Sword+ on top of TA is not comparable to Ruby Sword+ build. This is because of Fury, which not only gives her the additional 3 Mt she's missing with Ruby Sword+ vs. Silver Sword, but also gives here +3 in Spd, Def, and Res as well. Not just 15 Mt and the TA effect that Silver Sword+ and TA give. Also, if a + weapon is too expensive, Ruby Sword (no +) is also fine if your plan is to primary kill greens. She still kills greens very potently, but due to the lower Mt, loses the ability to kill certain reds like Chrom and Alfonse.

For her A skill, Fury 3 Fury 3 is a very solid skill for most units, and Olivia is not an exception. Dancers have very low base stat totals and Fury 3 helps them gain a bit of leverage and beefiness to their defenses. The extra Spd, Def, and Res makes her a lot harder to kill. The chip damage is negligible because she will be dancing most of the time and won’t be in combat too often. Life and Death 3 is NOT a viable alternative because the extra Atk and Spd at the expense of Olivia's Def and Res is not optimal. You want Olivia to be survivable by accounting for some worst case scenarios where she needs to take a hit or suffer some retaliation before killing a specific unit.

Wings of Mercy 3 Wings of Mercy 3 is the recommended option as it gives Olivia more global presence and mobility. Swordbreaker 3 Swordbreaker 3 is a tech option because the ability to double any red sword in the game is very strong and allows her to check both greens and reds. Popular units like Lucina/Ryoma with their most common builds get slaughtered by Swordbreaker 3. It’s also insurance for if they ever initiate on your Olivia and for other Red Swords who may be running Swordbreaker 3 themselves.

Her C skill is flexible, but she comes with Hone Atk 3 Hone Atk 3 which is a strong option. A player's team might need another Hone though, so any other Hone that a team needs can also work. Using a Threaten is NOT recommended though, because Olivia will rarely be in a frontline position to utilize a Threaten passive.

Finally, for her IVs, +Atk and +Spd are viable options as they increase Olivia's offensive power. The former allows her to hit a little harder while the latter allows Olivia to increase the number of units she can double (especially important in a Wo Dao+ build). -Res is a recommended bane unless a player is using Olivia as green mage bait (in a Ruby Sword+ build), in which case -Def can be an option as well.

Optimal Offensive Olivia

When you build a core for arena, you usually pick 3 units that together cover a wide variety of threats. With this idea in mind, Dancers on a core too need to be able to contribute offensively on a team, or the burden on the other two members, and an often unreliable bonus unit, becomes very high. The only reason to use Olivia in the first place is Skilliconassist Dance, which means the other skill slots are open to both letting her cover threats for your team, as well as having some higher points skill to boost the points she gives in arena. In general, if you pick a Dancer for your core, you need to be prepared to merge to stabilize in tier 20, so this writeup will assume you face some higher merge units with Olivia.

This Olivia set is designed to be able to ORKO all green mages, as well as being able to beat any green axe without Cancel Affinity 3 equipped. This is a team role that can be very valuable on some teams, for example teams built around Nino being the main Player Phase attacker, as she struggles with certain bulky green mages, such as Julia and Sonya. To achieve this, Icon Class Red Sword Ruby Sword+ is essential, as Olivia's damage output is low, even with a +atk boon. The higher merges your Olivia face, the more useful +atk will be, but you also lose out on her great bulk by skipping out on +spd, and she is still able to get the kills she need with a simple Hone Atk boost. -hp bane in general is preferred as both -def and -res is a -4 bane.

The higher the merges you face, the harder it will be to reliably double green mages for Olivia, which is why Quick Riposte 3 Quick Riposte 3 or G Tomebreaker 3 G Tomebreaker 3 is recommended for B skill. Together with Distant Counter Distant Counter, this lets Olivia double every green mage attacking her, and most of the time secure the ORKO. QR3 is preferred, as this also lets her double any unit attacking her, with the main benefit being the ability to also double every green axe. G Tomebreaker 3 is a bit cheaper tho, and also lets Olivia secure ko's on her Player Phase, but is generally inferior in terms of utility. Like most sets, the C slot is flexible, and depends what your team needs. In general it will probably be a boosting move, such as her natural Hone Atk 3 Hone Atk 3.

Finally, we got her specials. Skilliconspecial Moonbow is optimal, as it lets Olivia secure more ko's without support from her teammates, and it will always activate as long as Olivia is able to double her opponent. However, Olivia in general doesn't need her special to do her job with this set, which is why a high SP skill like Aether or Galeforce is a viable option. Neither of these bring her much added utility, but lets her increase her score for arena. Together with Quickened Pulse, both Aether and Galeforce will be down to at least 1 cd after Olivia has baited a green mage, meaning Olivia is usually able to make use of the special later in the battle, either by dealing increased damage with Aether, or by being able to attack something, trigger Galeforce, and then being able to hit again or Dance an ally. In general though, you won't be able to spare a Quickened Pulse for Olivia, so the Attack Plus 1 Attack +1 seal is a very viable alternative, letting her secure more ko's by the two extra damage it provides to her when baiting.

Budget Dancer

While not having the best base kit in the game, Olivia can carve out a decent budget build. She will want to run Skilliconassist Dance on any build she has, as well as Wings of Mercy 3 Wings of Mercy 3, as they together give Olivia a ton of utility, being able to teleport across the map to give a teammate another action for the turn. Hone Atk 3 Hone Atk 3 is a decent option to keep as well, as it also lets Olivia buff her teammates, but as always with the C slot it is highly flexible. As for special, Olivia will generally want Skilliconspecial Moonbow, since she is decently fast, and by being able to double, you will activate Moonbow more reliably than other specials due to its low cooldown.

The main choice to make with Olivia is if to keep her standard weapon or not. Icon Class Red Sword Silver Sword+ isn't bad, as it has decent might, but to both deal more damage and receive less damage from green units, Triangle Adept 3 Triangle Adept 3 is required. Not necessarily Triangle Adept 3, as that is a highly popular skill, but even Triangle Adept 2 Triangle Adept 2 can work well for a budget build. In general though, Olivia will want the Icon Class Red Sword Ruby Sword, as it's a built in TA3, and only loses out on 4 might compared to the superior Icon Class Red Sword Ruby Sword+. With Ruby Sword as weapon, Olivia can even run Fury 3 Fury 3, which increases her stats all around, both letting her avoid more doubles as well as do more damage if needed. If you don't want to spare a Triangle Adept or Fury, {Speed Plus 3 Speed +3 is a decent option, as Olivia will mostly want to avoid doubles to increase her survivability. For this reason, the Speed Plus 1 Speed +1 seal is also recommended.

Full Support Olivia

With the addition of Kadomatsu+ from NY!Camilla Olivia can be an even stronger support than before, making her teammates particularily bulky. Buffing her own speed helps with avoiding follow up attacks, same with the addition of Threaten Speed as a seal helping with further reducing this risk. The rest is similar to a standard dancer Olivia; Wings of Mercy 3 will help her save allies in a tough spot from across the map, Hone Atk 3 is a standard good buff native to Olivia, and Fury 3 helps her survive hits if she should be attacked. Some creativity could be added with changing Moonbow for Galeforce and Threaten Speed for Heavy Blade 3 for moments where Olivia can both finish an enemy and be able to dance afterwards as a followup. Going this route would benefit from going Threaten Atk 3 to help hitting Heavy Blade 3 requirements.
