This build focuses on the one advantage Olwen has over Reinhardt, Her speed. The build's effectiveness is in its absolute killing power it can dish out to any unit in its way.

However It is very important to note this build heavily relies on the Cavalry buff Hone Cavalry as the +6/+6 in spd and atk allows her to one round KO a lot of units who would have otherwise survived due to her lower Atk.

Notable units that survive one round with Hone Cavalry And Desperation 3 Active.

The goal is to get into range of of Desperation first so you either need to take a turn using Ardent Sacrifice or take hit in a round from a unit she can survive against. This is generally why keeping her Res moderately high is a good choice since this allows her to take a hit and trade against a mage unit as they are the most common Ranged unit currently in the arena. With her neutral 30 Res she will survive a single hit from any mage unit that hits less than 60 for blue and 50 for green.

Make sure to keep her safe with reposition skills.

Horse Cavalry Bladetome Olwen
Click to show/hide build description
Olwen is probably the best candidate for Cavalry-emblem Blade nuke, because she's the fastest horse mage by far. (Indeed, she's tied with Sully with 34 base speed for fastest mounted units in the game.) She's only two speed behind Linde, who is without a doubt the fastest mage overall. A full compliment of Hone/Fortify Cavalry from other members on your team means you're getting a 74 atk ICBM with 46 speed behind it.

Her default Assist and C-Passives are great for horse team, so there is no real reason to change them. You could go with Draw Back instead of Reposition simply because you don't want her tanking attacks on your turn, but she's going to be spending most her time attacking rather than fussbudgeting the rest of your units around anyway so it's not a big enough deal to warrant the extra SP grind.

Life and Death 3 is valued over Fury 3 simply because there's no salvaging her terrible defense with her low HP pool. Might as well run it into the gutter to ramp your attack up that much more. She's still got 28 resistance with this build, good for a respectable 34 with Fortify Cavalry.

Beautifully, her B-Passive slot is free for you to do with as you please. She's fast enough to not require any breaker skill, shouldn't really be taking damage to get into Desperation range, and with her ludicrous buffed damage and speed she doesn't really require anything that makes her guarantee a second attack. Wings of Mercy or Escape Route 3 benefit the other members of your team, so they are a possibility. Another idea is Windsweep 3, which allows you to safely attack any Vantage/Distant Counter units you might not be able to 1HKO (a distinct possibility with terrain bonuses.) She can still counter-attack and kill any non-green mages because you only lose the ability to follow-up attack during player phase. It'll make your potential damage output lessened, but you don't risk Hector chopping your head off when you nuke him.

For the special slot, Moonbow is recommended due to its lower cooldown. She's fast enough (assuming you don't go Windsweep) to get follow up strikes on just about everybody so she should build specials fairly quickly.

As for the C, a skill that benefits her allies should be chosen. As a blade tome user, Olwen benefits less from Goad Cavalry than from Hone, so the former is a worthwhile option to consider.

Overview

Well, i wanted to create a build that use neither Dire Thunder nor blade tome as weapon of choice. So, after many days i had an idea.

For this build, Olwen must be in a Cavalry team with all members with Ward Cavalry as passive C.

  • IV's: Neutral or +SPD/-HP (any diferent to -SPD)

For this build, +SPD is the recommended boon, any bane different to -SPD is good, if not, a Neutral Olwen works well with this build

  • Weapon: Icon Skill Weapon Blárowl+

The strength of a team is to be united, so, with this tome, Olwen will receive even more benefits for that union

  • Assist: Icon Skill Assist Swap / Reposition (really any movement assist is good)

Those skills can save your live in dangerous situations and help to be in formation in a fast way

  • Special: Icon Skill Special Iceberg / Glacies

Considering her high RES, she can run any of RES-based specials and get a kill most of the cases.

  • Passive A: Close Counter Close Counter

Sometimes, Olwen can't be saved from melee fighters, so, she needs to face them

  • Passive B: Guard 3 Guard 3

Specials that bypass defenses really hurts, sometimes you can just be attacked to charge foe's specials, preventing that scenario is always a good choice

  • Passive C: Ward Cavalry Ward Cavalry

With all members with this skill, when all are together, all can resist incoming attacks in a better way

If you are using a +SPD/-HP Olwen, her stats counting Blárowl+ are: 31/36/37/20/30. If Olwen is sorrounded by her allies, now her stats are: 31/42/43/26/36. Now with the help of 3 Ward Cavalry, her stats are: 31/42/43/38/48.

The idea of this build is simple: don't be afraid of melee fighters. When you can't save Olwen to be hit for a melee user, you don't need to sacrifice someone to save her life. Olwen just needs support from her partners (in a "T" formation, with Olwen in the middle).

She has enough SPD to prevent to be doubled for many foes, enough DEF stat to resist many melee fighters and with Close Counter she can punish them. Her incredible RES stat allows her to resist many mages (even in disadvantage color) and Iceblerg/Glacies will really hurts your foes. Guard will help you to prevent menaces like Reinhardt with Moonbow+QP seal. Unfortunatelly, her HP is low

Yes, it's a weird build but i guess it can works, and not only in Olwen, Leo (probably, the best candidate among cavalry mages) and Cecilia can also have the same build for color balance issues.

Menaces

  • Cheap damage from Savage Blow and Poison Strike: With her low HP, those skills are a serious menace, deactivating Guard easily.
  • Anti-cavalry weapons: Even with her allies, those weapons really make a good amount of damage (Even Olwen can be killed)
  • Enough buffed blade tome users: Due to her low HP, with enough buffs, blade tome users can OHKO Olwen.
  • Movement skills like Drag Back or Lunge: Basically, Olwen loses buffs.

Tempest Trial Thunder
Click to show/hide build description
This build works the best when you want to fly through Tempest Trials. A +Atk IV is suggested so you have better chances of ORKO. Paired with a dancer like PA Azura or Flier Olivia(Not to mention skills like Cavalry buffs or Tactic/Wave buffs), these chances will increase even higher. This build is my go-to build when I want to get the TT rewards quick and with minimum effort. Units like Deirdre and Julia are your biggest enemies. In your team, make sure you bring someone that can counter these kinds of green units, as Olwen will most likely be taken down with one shot if you decide to challenge them.

Reinhardt's Speedy Sister
Click to show/hide build description
This build utilizes Olwen's naturally decent speed (29 at neutral, after Dire Thunder Penalty) combined with speed modifiers that result in her frequently hitting enemies 4 times in combat, frequently triggering Glacies in the process. Sacrifice or Aid are used to easily get her in desperation range, as with this build magic has a tough time hurting her while physicals have a high chance of one shotting her. At level 40, +Res Olwen has 33 Resistance, 36 with the seal. Not many units reach this high, so Olwen will be able to trigger Speed Ploy quite frequently; when Olwen attacks an enemy on player phase, she'll hit with 35 speed via Darting Blow, and any enemy hit by Speed Ploy (which is any enemy with 32, 35 after seal, resistance or less) will be down 5; Any Speed-Ploy vulnerable enemy that has 36 speed (Note: at time of writing, this is every speed bane in the game except Mia) or less will be vulnerable to being quad-attacked, and a quad attack in turn charges Glacies lightning fast; if Olwen had any charge built on it at all prior to a quad attack, she will proc it, and with her sky high resistance, even enemies she's otherwise doing 0x4 to will take heavy damage. Best combined with a dancer, so Olwen can commit to a hit-and-run strategy.

Quad Queen
Click to show/hide build description
This build makes Olwen into a powerful Glass Cannon, abusing Desperation 3 and Ardent Sacrifice to perform unpunishable Quads on unsuspecting enemies. Olwen can become a pseudo-healer, as Ardent Sacrifice can be used to both heal allies and put Olwen in Desperation range. Paired with Luna, this build can cut down tanks like Christmas Tharja and even certain Hectors. While this build fails to secure defensive wins, a smart player can utilize Cavalry Emblem's frequent buffs to make Olwen even more powerful on the field. Darting Blow 3 and Speed +3 bring olwen up +9 speed when attacking, taking her to 38 speed, and additional Hone Cavalry takes her to 44, which is enough to quad most threats. During a Quad, Luna will activate on the fourth hit, dealing massive damage to any enemy with high enough resistance to tank the first three hits. Olwen is best paired with any units with reposition to ensure a safe retreat if by some *Miracle* (get it?) the enemy survives. Hone Cavalry is also a nice edition to any Cavalry Emblem team, but can be replaced with any other Cavalry skill your team needs.
