This set revolves around making use of Roderick's natural Icon Class Blue Lance Firesweep L+ on a Cavalry team, where the buffs from Hone Cavalry Hone Cavalry and Goad Cavalry Goad Cavalry give him even more Atk and Spd to abuse Firesweep Lance+ with.

Icon Class Blue Lance Firesweep L+ providing Roderick the ability to attack his foes with his fairly impressive Atk and Spd stat while not letting the enemy counter-attack and take advantage of his lower defenses. Using Firesweep Lance+ also means he cannot retaliate on enemy phase, thus we focus mainly on skills which bolster his player phase.

For his special, Skilliconspecial Luna is chosen not only for its 50% Def/Res reduction (better than other 3-charge skills), but because Firesweep builds act similarly to Brave builds. The goal is to have enough Spd to double the enemy, meaning two Firesweep hits in one round. This will charge both Moonbow and Luna in the same amount of time for the next engagement, meaning the stronger Luna should be taken over Moonbow.

For his A passive, we choose Swift Sparrow 2 Swift Sparrow 2 due to the Atk and Spd it gives when he initiates on an enemy. While Life and Death 3 Life and Death 3 may also be an option, Roderick's defenses are not yet completely unsalvagable. If absolutely necessary, he can still tank a hit if required thus the preference towards Swift Sparrow.

For his B-skill, his natural Drag Back Drag Back should be used. This allows him to hit foes, and back up out of other enemy units' reach, or back up far enough that another unit can safely come in to finish off the foe he dragged back, or to Reposition Roderick back to safety. Alternatively, other tech option B skills like Swordbreaker 3 Swordbreaker 3 or Lancebreaker 3 Lancebreaker 3 can be used if a player wants Roderick to focus on targeting a specific weapon type.

For his C-passive, as this build is meant to be on a cavalry team, a cavalry buff like Hone Cavalry Hone Cavalry can be considered. For his assist, Skilliconassist Reposition should be used to position around other horse allies into battle or out of danger.

Roderick's default kit is pretty complete as a specialist support unit for the rest of your team. At 3 movement with Icon Class Blue Lance Firesweep L+ and Drag Back Drag Back, he can safely go fishing for any enemy unit you want to bring closer to the rest of your team. Plus, his offense stats are pretty solid so it's not like he just tickles people as he does so.

When it's too dangerous to ram him into things to go fishing, he can serve as utility support with Skilliconassist Rally Def/Res and Drive Def 2 Drive Def 2. This means whatever you have that is tanking the enemy hit will be up a solid 6 defense/3 resistance.

As far as Specials go, you'll get the most out of Skilliconspecial Luna. There's little reason to go with Moonbow, as you should treat this unit's combat abilities essentially like a Brave Lance. If you're +Spd nature and bring horse buffs, you're likely going to double the universe which means 3 charge specials are more valuable than 2 charges. Luna gets you the most bang for your buck as Roderick's defense stats are pretty bad therefore Bonfire and Iceberg don't add much.

Possible budget A-passives include Death Blow 3 Death Blow 3 (gives his attacks a little more punch to them), Darting Blow 3 Darting Blow 3 (gives him more chance to double with Firesweep), or Fury 3 Fury 3 (doesn't provide as much of a Atk or Spd boost the latter do, but still provides stat increases he can use).
