Not Just a Mage Killer

While high in investment, the aim of this build is to take a unit that only had an anti-mage niche, and turn her into quite the formidable unit. Atk/Res bond is the main star of this build, replacing her warding stance, giving her 1 less Res in exchange for 5 Atk (when she's near an ally, of course). Guard allows her to not only keep magic threats from using their special on her, but also to be able to safely charge her Glacies while tacking on chip damage, without helping the enemy charge their own special. Defense ploy levereages her fantastic Res to further increase her effective attacking power by debuffing the enemy, and finally the seal gives her more staying power, as decreasing the damage of an oncoming attacker by 5 can often be just enough to save her life against a physical attacker, and mitigate all damage from magic attackers. Synergistically, one of the best units to pair her with is Lancina, but any unit with appropriate spurs/drives will work. As a simple example, a Sakura with an S support from Lancina will gain +10Atk, +8Spd, +7Res, and +2Def. Enough to turn her into a significant threat, and if she has a Glacies charged, even allows her to kill some of the most defensive units in the game, including armors

This build is simple enough to use - deploy her in a tile a mage can attack and watch it disappear. A +Res nature gives her an exceptional 49 Res on defense phase against mages, which will let her tank all but the most well-built mage-oriented teams.

The support skill is flexible, but the recommended skills give her greater ability to extend into enemy territory.

Iceberg is good for maximizing damage, but Noontime or another healing special will allow her to better tank multiple assaults from high-damage mages in a single turn.

Distant Def 3 as an A offers the advantage of an additional 6 defense against bow users at the expense of 6 res against Dragonstones - and is worth considering due to her inherent high res and low threat of Dragonstones in the current meta - if it can be afforded.

Quick Riposte allows Sakura to deal the damage necessary to defeat the mages who can tank a single hit at her relatively low attack, and increases the encounters during which her special will trigger.

Sakura's C skill is flexible, but an appropriate ploy skill may be useful due to her having the res to use it, and it will give her the flexibility to serve as a debuffer against non-mage teams.

It is recommended to use Distant Def 3 for a seal, as this will give her the greatest ability to tank mage attacks, but Atk Ploy may also fit her well for the same reasons detailed above.
