A purely enemy phase build, this takes advantage of Ashnard's impressive defensive stats to tank opponents and subsequently crush them with his excellent offensive capabilities.

【 Weapon 】

  • Icon Class Red Sword Gurgurant is his unique weapon, and the only real choice for him. Not only does it have the very helpful effect of a slightly upgraded Atk/Def Rein before that skill has even been released, but it also has a built-in Iotes Shield Iote's Shield, meaning that Ashnard — who has the stats to be a defensive tank — doesn't need to waste a slot on Iote's to negate his defences being bypassed by bows or specialized tomes.

【 Assist 】

  • Skilliconassist Reposition is an old standby, and works very well to help snatch allies out of danger.
  • Skilliconassist Swap is a good alternative if that fits your play style better.

【 Special 】

  • Skilliconspecial Bonfire hits hard, scaling off Ashnard's high Def stat, and is the best choice if he's only engaging in a couple of battles (or extended battles against opponents who can't appreciably dent his defences).
  • Skilliconspecial Noontime or Skilliconspecial Sol are a good options if you're worried about keeping up with Quick Riposte 3 Quick Riposte 3's requirement through longer engagements; although they won't boost Ashnard's immediate damage output, they will keep him healthy enough to continually manage follow ups, which on the grand scale is generally more damaging to opponents.

【 A Skill 】

  • Distant Counter Distant Counter is the best option for Ashnard. This build is purely enemy phase, so he wants to make sure he can consistently retaliate on enemy phase regardless of his opponent's range.
  • Distant Foil Distant Foil is a choice that increases both his Atk and Def upon being assaulted by physical damage dealers regardless of range, but Ashnard has a high enough Res stat (especially with Mirror Stance 2 as a Seal) that he'd prefer to be able to retaliate against mages as well.

【 B Skill 】

  • Quick Riposte 3 Quick Riposte 3 is a boring but highly effective skill for his B slot, affording him a guaranteed follow up attack so long as his health meets the threshold for activation. Considering his low Spd, he'll almost always need the skill to make follow ups at all.
  • Guard 3 Guard 3 shuts down enemy Specials that could otherwise make a dent in his defences, but has a 10% higher threshold for activation than Quick Riposte and is best used with a healing Special.

【 C Skill 】

  • Flexible as always, C skills are up to preference; Smoke skills are good general choices to benefit both Ashnard and his team, and Wave skills give visible stat boosts to him and any adjacent allies every other turn.
  • Goad Fliers Goad Fliers is equal to Hone Fliers Hone Fliers, Fortify Fliers Fortify Fliers, or Ward Fliers Ward Fliers if Ashnard is placed on a Flying team — it just depends on what the team needs.

【 Sacred Seal w/ Quick Riposte as B Skill 】

  • Mirror Stance 2 Mirror Stance 2 boosts both his Atk and Res on enemy phase, allowing him to deal more damage as well as making his Res equal his Def, allowing him to tank magic just as effectively as physical hits.
  • Atk Def Solo 3 Atk/Def Solo 3 is a fantastic choice if you're more concerned with Def than Res and want dual-phase power, but it depends on team composition; it likely won't work out as well if he's on a Flier team and is getting buffed by adjacent allies' Hone and Fortify skills.
  • Sturdy Stance 2 Sturdy Stance 2 is an alternative to Atk/Def Solo; its combat boost is lower by 2 points, and it's enemy phase only, but it doesn't matter how Ashnard is positioned.
  • Fierce Stance 3 Fierce Stance 3 is an option if you're looking to maximize his damage output instead of worrying about his defences, although you will be giving up Def/Res+4 in exchange for 2 more points of Atk; whether that's a fair trade is up to you.
  • Steady Stance 3 Steady Stance 3 / Warding Stance 3 Warding Stance 3, conversely, are available if you'd prefer to sacrifice Atk+4 for an additional Def/Res+2.

【 Sacred Seal w/ Guard as B Skill 】

  • Quick Riposte 3 Quick Riposte 3 is recommended over Stance Seals if you're using Guard 3 Guard 3 as Ashnard's B skill instead; the ability to strike twice overshadows the Atk+4/6 the Atk-boosting Stances give him. In the case of a Guard/Quick Riposte combo, a healing Special is highly recommended in order to keep Ashnard above both thresholds so that the two skills don't become useless dead weight once his health drops.

Aversa's Night is an amazing check to blade tome users. If the enemy user is next to another for, they lose 3 Atk/Spd/Def/Res and bonuses become penalties. Atk/Res Solo grants her plenty of offense and better Res against said tome users, Atk/Spd Link bolsters her offense even more, and Brazen seals the deal (lol) should her already impressive health go low.

Now that Weapon Refinery is available—and Beruka’s native Killer weapon can easily be upgraded then refined for a relatively affordable 70 Summoning Stones (20 + 50)—even casual Beruka users have nearly no excuse to augment her awesome physical defense even further with a Defense-refined Icon Class Green Axe Slaying Axe+. Without taking into account further stat increases from the A-skill slot, Sacred Seal, AND Fortify/Ward boosts, a +0 Beruka with a Defense boon and a Defense-refined Slaying Axe+ sits at a beefy 51 HP and stellar 44 Defense. As usual, Skilliconspecial Ignis and Skilliconspecial Bonfire procs will be hellishly powerful and only become stronger with new skills, enabling Beruka to essentially ignore her otherwise-terrible Attack while tearing down nearly any unit that can’t off her in time.

Translation: when given all the trimmings, Beruka becomes inhumanly difficult to take down for physical attackers in enemy phase. Obviously, steer clear of magic and ranged units, and don’t overdo it against sword units with high Attack on initiation or defense-decreasing specials, such as Siegbert, Elincia, and Black Knight.

Now, let’s go over said trimmings. Fortress Def 3 Fortress Def 3 is still the best A-slot passive skill for its value: it can be acquired easily than other passives from any 4-star Seth and gives Beruka a substantial and consistent 5 Def increase. Its Attack penalty does not matter in the grand scheme of things, as Beruka still sports a quite-low Attack even without it. Beruka can also go for more luxurious passives if you are willing to give them; Close Def 3 Close Def 3 in particular provides the best Arena optimization due to its higher SP cost and +1 Def over Fortress Def 3. Additionally, Close Def also counts towards Dragonstone damage, making matches against Fae and Nowi significantly more favorable despite Beruka’s below-average Resistance. Mentions of honor include Defense Plus 3 Defense +3 (budget) and Steady Stance 3 Steady Stance 3 (less valuable than Close Def but can still be used if lacking that).

Quick Riposte 3 Quick Riposte 3 (or Quick Riposte 2 Quick Riposte 2 for those on a budget) guarantees a counterattack for Beruka when at high HP, which is significant as she will need that extra attack to successfully kill most baited units with her chosen special. The combination of Quick Riposte, a defensive A-skill, and Beruka’s special is already potent in itself and requires little tweaking. Guard 3 Guard 3, however, is also worth consideration, as it enables Beruka to confidently go toe-to-toe with attackers without fear of their own special (especially Luna) activating and ruining an otherwise nice matchup.

Beruka’s C-skill slot is flexible and depends on team composition. For flier teams, Hone Fliers Hone Fliers or Goad Fliers Goad Fliers are very good for offensive support, especially considering Beruka will almost never initiate offensively herself. For more general teams, Panic Ploy 3 Panic Ploy 3 or any Hone/Fortify skill are also worth considering. If running Panic Ploy in the C slot is too restricting, you can use its Sacred Seal version. However, Beruka can benefit more from Iotes Shield Iote's Shield, because despite all her physical bulk, she is still extremely vulnerable to archers. Taking this seal allows her to negate that weakness and utilize her bulk to tank archers who might otherwise defeat her.

As far as boons are concerned, a Defense boon is obvious. Due to Beruka's incorrigibly low Speed, it can be safely lowered for the bane. Although a Resistance bane is tempting due to Beruka's also low Resistance stat, it makes compromises her actually decent matchups against Nowi and Fae.

Who is this modestly dressed Camilla and what does she do? Basically plays the role of a flying Lilina: High Atk, High Res single hitter. With a boon 40Atk for a flying mage, Dream Camilla packs a wallop (57atk). With her tome as long as she's next to an ally, she decreases her enemies' stats by 3/3/3/3. Naturally her defense is low and her health is... Meh. But with all that in mind I can't stand not being able to follow up, so I pair her with Spd Bond and Spd Link. Those combined can buff her an extra 11atk and spd (68/41), and with the usual flier team goad's will push that up another 12 (80/53) and her tome effect (essentially 83/54) to better her chances even further. Sounds good to me. I like Growing/Rising specials for magic units because typically you pit them against an enemy who can't retaliate, so something like Luna wouldn't activate on your turn if attacked by a close range unit, and you wouldn't use something like Aether until your turn anyway, so why not use a major AoE bomb with someone who already has excellent attack?

This build aims to leverage Camilla's strong physical bulk along with her good offensive stats to create a strong mixed phase unit.

Icon Class Red Sword Slaying Edge+ is the go to weapon for most defensive builds. Being able to reduce the Cooldown of a skill like Skilliconspecial Bonfire from 3 to 2 allows for a large increase of damage, as Camilla wil be able to get it off during every combat. The Spd refinement allows Camilla to avoid doubles, while enhancing her player phase as well in terms of fighting.

Icon Class Red Sword Kadomatsu+ serves as a budget option, as it is the native weapon Camilla comes with. This gives Camilla better supportive capabilities, but cuts into her kill power. Similarly, the Spd refinement is the most desired refinement.

Skilliconassist Reposition remains the premier movement tool, especially so on fliers. As a flier, Camilla is better to position herself to be able to perform powerful actions such as vaulting characters over gaps.

Skilliconspecial Bonfire provides 17 damage without buffs every time it activates, allowing her to turn many battles over the course of one combat. Having a 3 Cooldown special works hand in hand with Icon Class Red Sword Slaying Edge+. but Skilliconspecial Luna also is a strong option.

Skilliconspecial Glimmer is the choice of special if using Icon Class Red Sword Kadomatsu+, as it has 2 Cooldown, allowing her to utilize it in combat quickly.

Fury 3 Fury 3 is overall the best A skill for defensive characters, as all of the stat boosts are helpful in terms of increasing her bulk in addition to her kill power. It is also a very cheap option in terms of Skill Inheritence.

Quick Riposte 3 Quick Riposte 3 allows Camilla to duel faster units on the enemy phase while having the speed to avoid getting doubled herself due to her high speed. While Quick Riposte 3 Quick Riposte 3 is optimal, Quick Riposte 2 Quick Riposte 2 can get the job done on a budget.

Goad Fliers Goad Fliers and Hone Fliers Hone Fliers are strong options for flier centric teams, allowing Camilla to support her allies. If Camilla isn't used on a flier team, and Hone/Spur/Drive/Tactic can also be used in the C slot

Close Def 3 Close Def 3 is the best Sacred Seal for her, allowing her to better tank high attack enemies during the enemy phase. Because Camilla will only be able to retaliate at a range of 1, this is the best A skill to run, as it will also let her better tank speedy Brave weapon users.

This build leverages Camilla's oppressive offensive stats and pairs it with the ability to negate counterattacks. In other words, she is able to ORKO most units in the game without taking damage, letting her challenge multiple enemy units in a single match. The Icon Class Red Sword Firesweep S+ gives her a hefty 48 base Attack, which rises to 52 when attacking. Her Speed on initiation is 45, which when paired with Hone buffs allow her to double nearly the entire metagame. A boon in Atk can also be useable, but moreso in Flier Emblem teams where Camilla can get a Spd buff. This is due to Spd being key in this build in order for Camilla to double and maximize her damage with Firesweep.

Swift Sparrow 2 Swift Sparrow 2 is the focal point of the set, giving her a much needed boost to Speed and Attack. Life and Death 3 Life and Death 3 is a passable alternative for those who lack Swift Sparrow, but it weakens her enemy phase by a noticeable amount.

Hit and Run Hit and Run is her go-to B-passive, since it makes all the more difficult for enemy units to kill her, especially when paired with teammate positioning assist skills. Drag Back Drag Back provides similar benefits if Hit and Run is not available, but causes Camilla to pull an enemy back with her if she does not finish off her target.

Camilla's C-passive is completely up to a player's team composition. On a flier team, she can run Goad Fliers Goad Fliers or Hone Fliers Hone Fliers to provide buffs to her flier teammates.

Her special should be offensive-focused such as Skilliconspecial Luna or Skilliconspecial Draconic Aura. Unlike in Brave builds, due to Firesweep Lance+'s higher Mt, Draconic Aura can potentially provide more consistent damage over Luna than Brave builds (which almost required a boon in Atk). Luna is more consistent against sturdier enemies though, such as Armored units who Camilla would otherwise not ORKO.

Camilla can also opt for Skilliconspecial Galeforce to devastate teams with successive attacks. If Galeforce is used, Heavy Blade 3 Heavy Blade 3 and Quickened Pulse Quickened Pulse should be used for faster activation of Galeforce.

This build's focus drives on Spring Camilla's high defense (for a flier mage), and the Gronnraven(+) and Triangle Adept Combo, making Spring Festival Camilla able to do 40% more damage against archer units. This, added on with Quick Riposte 2 (or 3), creates a strong enemy phase to smack archer units. Either Moonbow or Bonfire is recommended, the former for its low cooldown and the latter for a slightly greater consistent boost in damage when it activates. Those two specials take advantage of Spring Camilla's high defense. The Distant Defense 3 sacred seal would add to Spring Camilla's damage on enemy phase if her special activates. Iote's shield, despite not adding any multiplier to damage (like Distant Defense if it activates special), is also a good choice of sacred seal.
