Gender[]

I believe the gender should be changed to Female, here are some reasons:

  1. This unit is considered female within the game files, the folder name is ch04_23_Marth_F_Mask. Notice the F identifier. All units have this gender identifier, even generics and units that don't have separate versions that need to be differentiated by gender.
  2. The current reasoning is that the wiki is going with what the game calls the unit, such as "he" in the description. However this is something that was added by the localisers. The original Japanese version description of Marth: Enigmatic Blade (仮面で素顔を隠した謎の剣士。自らを「マルス」と名乗っている。(登場:『ファイアーエムブレム 覚醒』)) does not have any gendered pronouns (this is true of many Japanese sentences which do not require any pronouns). In addition, in this Cipher card, the general description the system uses (マルスを名乗る剣士, swordsman that calls himself marth) has the same situation, but the card marks the gender as female.
  3. Future proofing. If anything gender-related is ever added to the Fire Emblem Heroes, such as Ladyblade or Demoiselle, it is highly likely that they will treat her as her actual gender, female.

The dialogue and characters in the Tempests do refer to Marth as male though. Until the mask breaks and the disguise is broken, the characters just see a dude masquerading as "Marth". Even though we, the players, know that Marth is actually Lucina. - CV

I'm aware that Masked Marth and other characters frequently uses male pronouns to refer to Masked Marth, but the system itself never does so, which is what the infobox should reflect. Endilyn (talk) 02:31, 31 March 2018 (UTC)

So...[]

I am aware that she uses the name "Marth" in this form, but we all know she's not the same Marth as the Altean Prince, so I don't think having them grouped together on this wiki is a good idea. There are two ways to change that, though both will essentially have the exact same effect. The first is to change the charname parameter to "Marth (Awakening)" while keeping the charname2 parameter untouched, and the second is to just use a single charname: her real name.

  • Are you referring to the CharacterAbout template? --Ale1991 (talk) 21:39, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
    • Yes, I am.
  • I don't see the problem with grouping them together. The point of the template is to clear up any confusion and direct people to the Hero they may be looking for, not to make a statement about whether certain Heroes belong in a group or not. Endilyn (talk) 03:01, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
    • Then how about making Marth (Shadow Dragon) and Marth (Awakening) disambiguation pages, with the Marth page linking to both of them? 8.36.240.170 12:35, 29 August 2018 (UTC) (Getting a little better at remembering to put my signature, but not a lot)
