Regarding Page Creation and Semantic MediaWiki[]

Hi there, I saw that you created the List of Heroes by Move Type page, and first off, great work!

To save you some work in the future though, I thought it might interest you to learn about one of the features of the Wiki. We use a plug-in called Semantic MediaWiki (SMW) in some parts of the Wiki, which allows us to not have to manually update pages like the one you created. I won't go too in-depth about what's going on behind the scenes, but right now for Heroes, it's possible to query all heroes by using the Semantic MediaWiki queries.

For example, if I wanted all Infantry heroes that use Blue Lance, the query you would use on the page would look something like this:

I'm not sure how familiar you are with Templates, but it's possible to format this list to be prettier by passing it to a Template. A current working example is how Hero List page is being populated right now. Notice the only content on that page is the Hero List instead of a huge table. If you take a look at Template:Hero List, you can see the query for all heroes with the data being formatted using Template:Hero List Entry.

Not only does this let us avoid lengthy tables which can be messy and prone to editing error, but as long as a new Hero page is created and added to Category:Heroes, it will automatically be added to the Hero List. I think this would help immensely on the page you made as well as for any future Lists you plan on creating, so that we don't have to continuously come back and manually update these types of pages.

Let me know if you have any further questions or want to discuss this more in-depth regarding the logistics of SMW. You can either leave a message on my Talk page, or for easier conversing I am also on Discord as @Elaeagnifolia#2679. Feel free to stop by the Fire Emblem: Heroes Discord https://discordapp.com/invite/KBqVugv in the #wiki channel as well since there are other Wiki editors in there also knowledgeable about SMW (Specifically User:Sekuiya, the one who got SMW working on our Wiki in the first place :D ).

If you're not interested in any of this stuff, feel free to just ignore all this information. Just wanted to give a heads up in case you were interested in learning since in the future (Somewhere on the Wiki team's long to-do list), the page will probably be converted to use SMW. Thanks for your time!

Weapon Infobox Template[]

Hiya there, I see you were testing some changes on the template, but I'm afraid I can't agree with it. I'll revert them in the future so the image name is the same as the name of the weapon. This way it insures that the name of the image stays consistent across all the images. Otherwise weapons could eventually end up with random names. We'll still working on how to approach weapons, but it shouldn't be long for a change to be made. If you want to further discuss this subject, please contact me on Discord @Luigi Sekuiya#1307 or through my talk page. --Sekuiyatalk 13:52, 20 March 2017 (EDT)

Regarding Story Map Pages[]

Hi again. Regarding story map pages, there are a few minor decisions made in the Wiki Discord chat a few days ago that I thought would be helpful to share:

 • Banners should be named Banner <Hero Name>.png. This is because it's possible for banners to be used in other maps. For example, Xenologue 1 uses the same banner as Chapter 9 and is already uploaded under the name File:Banner Veronica.png
 • We will be using the unrevealed versions of the banners for Parts 1-4 with the revealed version being used only for Part 5. This is partly an aesthetics thing and because the final Part 5 usually showcases the hero in the banner as a kind of boss. These banners will follow the same naming with Unrevealed at the end. For example File:Banner Veronica Unrevealed.png
 • Enemy lists should have the generics first and then any actual enemy heroes last. This is mainly an aesthetics issue since mixing the order of enemy portrait icons and generic sprite icons isn't aesthetically ideal.

Also, obviously I can't force you, but I think it would be highly beneficial if you joined the FE:Heroes Discord in #wiki channel. Not only would it be a lot easier to collaborate so that minor inconsistencies and conflicts like these don't happen, but in general it's a lot easier to communicate regarding status of projects and to also have access to other resources.

For example, I'm not sure if you're using your own stamina to get the map details you are, but a few Wiki editor/moderators have already spent the past several days gathering all that story map enemy information from all the story chapters for Normal, Hard, and Lunatic (They just finished getting all that information yesterday actually! :D). In fact, since we had just finished collecting this information, one of the Wiki editors in the channel was already preparing the first couple of map pages but you happened to post them today haha.

Elaeagnus (talk) 09:48, 21 March 2017 (EDT)Elaeagnus

About the story maps. I apologize for the inconvenience with the banner names, I noticed that you fixed my mistakes. Is it okay if I continue working on the story maps, or should I leave it to the editors that have all the information prepared?

No worries! It's hard to collaborate on these things on the Wiki alone. And feel free to continue working on the story maps. :)

Generic unit base stats past 2-star rarity[]

Nice find regarding their base stats at above 1-star, Valexiv, how did you do it? Datamining as usual? I really don't know how that kind of stuff works, aside from locating image files like various people did for Male Robin and Tharja's Christmas-variant (leaked) artwork. --Thebreakingbenny (talk) 02:03, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi there, not Valexiv but since this was being discussed in the wiki editor chat on Discord, I can explain. The stats were not from datamining, but one of the wiki editors noticed a pattern for which stats are increased between rarities. We assumed this pattern to be true for generic heroes as well (although we're still looking for no inflation level 40 generic units to verify those values).
The pattern was that from 1 ★ -> 2 ★ and 3 ★ -> 4 ★, the two highest non-HP stats are increased. From 2 ★ -> 3 ★ and 4 ★ -> 5 ★, then HP and the other two stats not yet chosen are increased.
If there's a tie between the non-HP stats, then the stat increased is chosen in the following order: Atk, Spd, Def, Res.
Here's an example with Hana's neutral stats, which you can also verify on her page:
Rarity HP ATK SPD DEF RES Notes
★ 16 7 8 4 2 Her two highest non-HP stats are Atk and Spd, so these should be increased next rarity.
★ 16 8 9 4 2 The next rarity should increase HP, Def, Res then based on the pattern.
★ 17 8 9 5 3 Atk and Spd again next rarity.
★ 17 9 10 5 3 The other three stats once again.
★ 18 9 10 6 4 -
Kinda sad that, as I mentioned, we still don't have many non-Blue Cavaliers. While Intelligent Systems is busy with deciding which character to make a Red or Green Cavalier, we should be allowed to use the generic one as a filler for wanted heroes, no? They'd still have IVs like summonable characters, but like the Training Tower foes have randomly chosen skills; if you're unlucky they get the basic tome's enhanced version as their 5-star weapon, Rexcalibur+, Thoron+, and Bolganone+. Of course, they'd need a randomly chosen name as well, and generic-like dialogue to reflect their mysterious and faceless aura. --Thebreakingbenny (talk) 03:44, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
Hey there, I found out those stats the way Elae mentioned, but the credit goes to you for noticing that the Training Tower generics have stat totals that align perfectly with our predictions. I've been looking for perfect level 40 stats, but sadly the Training Tower dummies can't reach level 40 and the ones from Story/Special Maps have inflated stats :/. As for the mage cavaliers, I personally hope for Selena from Sacred Stones. Valexiv (talk) 19:06, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
Looks like the Mage Knight of Grado will have to wait; we have Tellius characters upcoming according to leaks. There's a screenshot showcasing the Black Knight and Nephenee. --Thebreakingbenny (talk) 19:13, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
Hey, it's me, random IP. I edit a lot through Tor since I use it as a regular browser so I would appreciate it if you didn't block Tor from editing. Anyway, it's possible to calculate level 40 stats for generic units. I'll try to explain this the best I can...
RarityHPATKSPDDEFRES
5Icon Rarity 53334311733
Stat HP ATK SPD DEF RES
GP 3 8 7 2 8
These are Arvis' player stats at level 40.

Level: 40
HP: 46
ATK: 35
SPD: 31
DEF: 17
RES: 34
These are Arvis' level 40 GHB enemy stats on Lunatic. A common trend you might notice is that enemy stats (except for HP, more on that later) on Lunatic GHBS are eerily similar to the playable stats, and enemy stats on Infernal GHB (except for HP) are eerily similar to the playable stats at +10 merges. If you take a look at Arvis' playable 4 star stats at level 30 (can be seen here) you'll notice that they also align with Arvis' level 30 enemy stats (except for HP) on Hard. However you may have noticed that some stats are 1 less or more than the playable version. I have no idea why this happens, some stats are seemingly randomly modified by one. A trend I've noticed with the reduced stats is that characters with high GP, 9 or more in a stat, usually don't get a reduced enemy stat, characters with middling GP may get it reduced by one, and characters with very low GP has it reduced by 2. However this is not anything concrete as there have been two units with the exact same base stat and growth point for that stat but have had different stats (off by 1) for their BHB/GHB enemy version, so there might be another hidden property we don't know of, or some numbers are actually decimals, or the change is actually random. I have also noticed that heroes with the same GP and base stats for a stat can have that stat differ during the intermediate level ups to 40, so that may have something to do with it. Knowing how HP is generated for enemies is not needed to calculate level 40 generic stats, but is interesting so I included it here anyway. Arvis' playable HP growth is at 3, leading to a level 40 HP value of 37, but his Grand Hero Battle level 40 enemy version has an HP of 46, which is either an HP growth of 9, or an HP growth of 10 with the stat reduced by 2. Clarisse's HP growth is normally 5, but her GHB has an HP growth of 12. Because of this, I believe they add to the HP growth points to make the enemy HP stats for GHB bosses. Anyway the main takeaway here is that GHB enemy stats closely conform to the playable stats and they also appear to be leveled up regularly as well judging by the hard mode stats. Now, Sword Fighter, Lance Fighter, and Axe Fighter all have the same stats so I refer to them as "Melee Fighters" for now. Melee fighters are infantry melee units, and I don't think Intelligent Systems would powercreep generic units, so according to the stat rules the Melee fighters should have a level 1 stat total of 47, which matches with the stats you've found and derived from the training tower (so we can assume the training tower is entirely accurate with no modifications), and they should have a growth point total of 31. Here are the melee fighters' level 1 stats:
RarityHPATKSPDDEFRES

Here are their enemy level 40 stats, from Bruno's Secret (identical to the ones from Xander: Paragon Knight except for inflated HP):

Icon Class Red SwordRed Sword
Icon Move Infantry Infantry

Level: 40
HP: 44
ATK: 31
SPD: 31
DEF: 30
RES: 23
Story/Paralogue maps don't have inflated HP, compare the level 40 stats of some heroes and their enemy versions and you'll see. The only valid stats are the ones that come from growth points, so to find the level 40 stats we just have to use growth points that match the enemy stats as close as possible (this is an easy to use calculator for GP and stats). Using these growth points:
Stat HP ATK SPD DEF RES
GP 7 7 7 6 4 or 5
will give us these stats:
RarityHPATKSPDDEFRES
5Icon Rarity 54431313022 or 24
You can see that stats match almost perfectly to the enemy stats, with some stats being modified by a factor of one, just like with other heroes. However, even though the res stat's GP could either be 4 or 5, the value can easily be found by following the growth rules. The growth point rules say that the Melee fighters' total GP must equal 31, and the only possible combination that produces that is if the GP is 4, (7 + 7 + 7 + 6 + 4 = 31). With that, the final calculated level 40 stats for the generic melee fighters becomes:
RarityHPATKSPDDEFRES

Hey there, thank you for your information! I actually used to store GHB vs Normal stats, which I now have revived, but it never occurred to me to use those stats for the Generics. Now thanks to you I completed this. We'll be putting those info on the wiki in the coming days. Valexiv (talk) 16:39, 29 December 2017 (UTC)

Why I put Speed +1 and Spur Def 1 on Nepheene and Oscar before it was confirmed[]

It quite easy to look at past units who have hybrid skills to see that the stat that is mentioned last in the skill usually was the base skill that it derives from. Take for example Atk Spd 1 it would come from Speed +1 which is proven however I do see the problem with this as it could also be Attack +1 as they could use Atk Spd 1 and 2 on another unit because it would be silly to have two skills do the same thing but by another name like Spd Atk 1 and 2.

Yeah, I understand that, and those were my predictions as well, but the thing is that we guessed incorrectly in the past and got some negative comments about it, so we decided to just wait for the official thing. Valexiv (talk) 16:46, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

Edits on Template:CurrentEvents[]

I presume you felt it didn't look good when editing the Banner template in? --Thebreakingbenny (talk) 10:30, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, pretty much. It's WAAAY too big. I've got no idea how to change the size of it, but Elae promised she'll look into it when she finds some spare time. Valexiv (talk) 11:04, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

Re: Story Maps tables[]

Hi there, is the removal of character snippets intentional? I just want to give a feedback that the past tables with character snippets were really helpful for selecting teams for Chain Challenges. It would be very nice if they could come back. Ecpgieicg (talk) 17:06, 14 December 2017 (UTC)

Hey there, thank you for your feedback. We've recently had to change our automation software from SMW to Cargo which pretty much broke the wiki. We do plan on fixing it, but it will probably take some time.

“Weapons that boost Special damage”[]

Hey, I just want to point out that your renaming of Weapons that grant damage when Special triggers to Weapons that boost Special damage is a bit misleading. The wording on “Weapons that boost Special damage” implies that damage gets added to the Special's damage itself, which is inaccurate, since the damage added is a flat amount at the end and not to the Special itself. For instance, if the total damage including Bonfire for example, is only 1 and the enemy has 999 defense, the attack will always deal at least 10 damage with this effect active, since it adds after mitigation. If this effect really did boost Special damage, the total damage including Bonfire would be 11 and still deal 0 damage to the enemy. Endilyn (talk) 00:23, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

I changed the name to what the localization team calls these kind of weapons (Skills That Boost Special Damage (Focus)). Feel free to change it back. Valexiv (talk) 07:18, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
I understand now. Thanks for the explanation. Endilyn (talk) 19:07, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

With my absence[]

That Discord chat was spineless anyway. Bringing up Eirika & Ephraim's unfortunate implication is part of my ban. With a little luck, I might get back in. --Thebreakingbenny (talk) 00:48, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

Would you mind talking to the Discord people that I wish to have a word, instead of them being unruly over me dodging the censoring system? I would really appreciate that. If there's something I can do to redeem myself then I will do it. --Thebreakingbenny (talk) 21:58, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
I am not a moderator on the Discord server, we Wiki Editors just have a channel there to discuss wiki-related stuff. Having said that, I talked with the owner of the server and he said that you are not welcome back due to using inappropriate language (even after receiving a warning), trying to dodge the censoring system and trying to trigger inappropriate conversations. Valexiv (talk) 23:31, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
I wouldn't consider conversations regarding Eirika's and Ephraim's unfortunate implication brought on by the localization as "inappropriate", nor that the "AU word" is offensive (the term was never intended for use in that manner, which is fact. Blame the morons who use the term as an insult). Is there a time limit that determines when I am able to come back? Can I speak to anyone in the channel without having to connect to the stupid thing that zealously (and ridiculously rigid Miiverse-like system) blocks out "potentially hurtful" commeentary? --Thebreakingbenny (talk) 00:27, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
You might DM the owner through Discord, his ID is Hexatomb#0007. Valexiv (talk) 14:19, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
With a bit of luck, this might be sorted out… or not. I promise not to hold my breath too much. --Thebreakingbenny (talk) 20:03, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
Seems like Hexatomb isn't very active on Discord right now, still not a word or reply from him. (And I wish I didn't need to befriend him.) --Thebreakingbenny (talk) 17:43, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
Please tell Hexatomb I want a word with him, because so far he and I have never communicated. I demand it. --Thebreakingbenny (talk) 07:08, 22 May 2018 (UTC) (Protip: I'm not in the FE Heroes channel, and Hexatomb doesn't accept messages from non-friends. That's a very idiotic system you guys have.) --Thebreakingbenny (talk) 07:20, 22 May 2018 (UTC)

Hero page whitespace[]

The reason why I moved the templates closer together is to remove the whitespace at the beginning of the page:
Scr hero page whitespace
If you put templates on separate lines MediaWiki could think that you wanted a line break there as well, especially if the template returns nothing.

If consistency is the issue you have with this, I can make this change to all other Hero pages as well. Endilyn (talk) 23:13, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
